Purchased a CPO 2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited. I worked with Garrett over the course of a couple of days to test drive the rig, talk in detail about Subaru, and negotiate a deal. I never felt pressured by Garrett to make a purchase I wasn't ready for. He was quick to reply to my questions via text and email as I had them. The price was fair--not great--but fair. And that's important. I did receive a discount, which I appreciate, and landed slightly below list price. I definitely felt heard, like my opinion mattered, and that I was a valued customer. We all know there is a profit to be made--it's sales after all--but I did not feel bamboozled. Only critique would be around experience with finance. I'm a local Branch Manager for a national bank, so I'm in the business of sales and understand the sales process. However, the markup for GAP insurance is significant. And, the pressure to purchase an extended warranty beyond the INCREDIBLE 7 YR/100,000mi warranty was annoying. I didn't bite. Even after several questions, which pressed for specific objections. That part of the experience, unfortunately, stands in contrast with the sales team up front. With that said, I'll secure my own financing next time because I will be back again. My son got a safety recall notice in June of 2015 for faulty airbags, and was told to contact the local dealership for a free repair. He called, and they took his information and told him they'd call him back when they had the part. A month later, he called again, and was told the same story. A month later, he called for the 3rd time - still no part. It's now November, and I told him I'd call in case they were giving a teenage kid the runaround. The guy that I talked to in the service department told me that they were no longer a Mitsubishi dealership, and that they wouldn't be doing the replacement. He put me on hold to check, and said that they had received the part at some point, but had now boxed up everything Mitsubishi and sent it back! I told him that I was very angry that they would give us the runaround like this, and that the communication and customer service was terrible. He said that could not disagree with me. I started to tell him that we never get treated this way at Heartland Toyota, and that maybe he should let their management know what a terrible job they were doing, and...... - he hung up on me!!!! I didn't yell at him, I didn't cuss at him, but I was firm. If this is how they treat their customers, I'd go down the street and find a dealership that stands behind their product and understands customer service. read more

AND Service Cashier and FRONT GAL "Carol" rounds out the team. These folks are so professional and friendly. They don't come any better. Always cheerful. I am on my second Forester and have ALL my service done at Peninsula Subaru. I am a very critical person and I scrutinize every thing they have done to my (my wifes) vehicle. Every recomendation has been spot on. Service is ALWAYS prompt and complete. In the sales department I have to say the Salvatore Gatto is one of the most engaging people I have met. I contacted Bret Johnson with a price match request for the new Subaru we had picked out. Not only was he able to match the price he was able to get the car the next day! It actually took us a few days to come in to finish the deal since we don't live close to the dealership. Bret actually coordinated his schedule with mine to pick me up and bring me into the dealership for the deal (turns out he lives very close to where we live so I'm sure we can't all expect this service for every sale). Fast and friendly service and his team made the process easy to understand. The only think I wish went differently was the financial part of the deal where they offered me something I hadn't yet considered, the extended service plan. It seems like a very reasonable deal but I didn't like having such a short time to consider the options. I wish this was presented prior to the final moments of the deal. I would have like to have a day or two to think it over. I just didn't even think about this before that moment since I just don't purchase new cars very often. He was knowledgeable, friendly and happily helped us through the process 100% After we finished up with Sean we were off to see Nick D. to sign papers, discuss a warranty and close the deal. Which was another great experience. Now fast forward to the present. As I am driving down the road, my left back window on the driver side spontaneously shatters. We've owned our cars now for 3 years so I can now honestly rate their service Department with high marks. Eric, the Service manager is dedicated to quality repair and customer service. I'm very "picky", and I can safely say Peninsula's service reps, Scott and Josh have been very understanding and responsive. What really impressed us was the owners concern for customer satisfaction. Shawn is the BEST salesman I EVER dealt with. Just bought a 2014 Evo. Need a car go to Shawn, he made it simple with no hassle. Paperwork didn't take long and they didn't rush me even though it was a hour after closing hours. Everyone was friendly, receptionist, sales manager and finance manager and of course my salesman Shawn. It was well worth the drive from tacoma. I have dealt with other dealerships in the tacoma area and can't stand them. My wife drives a Forester and I had an STI, traded it in for the Evo, and we would drive from tacoma to auburn to have our vehicle serviced. Each and every staff member who works at this dealership is eager to suit your needs whether it is a great deal on a car, service or checkup, or any sort os assistance. Exceptional "no non-sense" car buying experience with DJ who was professional and helpful. We came to Peninsula via Costco program after internet research led us to the Outback. We did know exactly which vehicle we wanted. No haggling on pricing (we did not have a trade-in) and DJ even picked us up at nearby ferry to take delivery. Car is great and Peninsula offers free and no appointment oil changes (synthetic oil, even) for life (of car). This dealership is actively involved in local charities and community activities. And closed on Sundays so employees may have family time. Despite my 5 star rating, "areas for improvement" are: 1.) Presentation by finance department of dealer "add-on" extended term maintenance contract more clearly stated with less fast talk and calculator clicking, and 2.) tent or covered area for taking delivery of car when it's raining. Worst place to get your Subaru serviced. I brought mine in for an oil change/oil consumption test. After 2.5 hours I finally drove my car home. My boyfriend lifted my hood and immediately saw that they had over filled my oil by 1/3 quart (exactly how much r would take to pass/fail the test). We drove the car back and they profusely apologized and drained some out. However, they informed me that I could not do my consumption test because my head gasket had a "severe" leak. I drove my car back across the water to the dealership I had bought it from, just to wait 3 hours for them to tell me that my headgaskets were perfectly fine, and after doing an oil dye test the only oil that was leaking was the oil spilled from the messy oil change. Thanks so much for the TWO huge wastes of time peninsula Subaru!! Obviously just didn't want to get screwed into replacing my motor under warranty. Reported to SOA. read more

The owner of Peninsula Subaru threatened to pull their advertising in protest of the article and the writer of the article (who also happened to write an editorial in support of gays and lesbians who chose to come out within their religious community). Does this have anything to do with buying a car? Perhaps not. But this individual who was so offended by gay people of faith that he threatened an individual's job and threatened to take away a large chunk of revenue from a small town paper...well, that person still owns Peninsula Subaru. I hate the process of buying a new car but let me tell you it doens't getting any better than at Peninsula Subaru! The sales staff was so friendly and efficiant. They didn't waste any time trying to sell me something I wasn't interested in. They had exactly what I wanted (an 08 Impreza) and got me through all the paper work in a timely manner. The best part though was that instead of just calling it good I recieved a phone call a few days later asking me to come re sign the papers becuase they had to made some changes to the loan. The wonderfull finance guy got my interest rate lowered by 7%, knocked a year off my loan, and gave me an extra $500 dollars for my trade in. Now I have a newer nicer car and my payment is less than it was with my Honda. They really go the extra mile for their customers! I would deffinately go back. read more

I recently bought a new subaru outback limited. I love it. The sales personnel were awesome. They were not pushy. They let me take my time to decide what I wanted. You have to take the class with Kevin. He sat with me until I felt very comfortable with all the bells and whistles. He helped me set up things. He scheduled me about 2 weeks after I bought the car and told me to write down any questions I might have. He didn't rush me. He also gave me his contact info incase I forgot something. Then I found a bubble in my added chip protection after it rained. I didn't have an appt. I just wanted them to see it. I just bought my second Forester from Peninsula Subaru and am very happy with the experience. There was a no hassle sense as I negotiated for the car and I trusted the salesperson, who also sold me my first Subaru. I know he gave me the best deal possible along with looking around the state for the car/color I wanted. I have had nothing but exemplary service from the service dept. A couple of years ago there was a problem with my car on a road trip. The service dept. took full responsibility, transported the car back to their service dept. and furnished me with a rental and all other expenses incurred due to lack of my own car.
