This place gets 2 stars because my nails were done within 30 minutes. If you want you nails done fast, this is the place to go. I got a gel manicure using a Groupon and it sure showed it. They ended up peeling off 3 days laster. Furthermore, the staff was not pleasant. The worst nail salon EVER. Very unsanitary! They rush you and barely give you a real manicure/pedicure. The service was rude and they don't listen to you but will talk about you in another language. The polish choices are limited and dried out. After three hours my toe polish is literally peeling off and my hands are so dry and rough. DONT GO HERE. This salon will be under new management soon so perhaps that will lead to a positive change. However, I found it to be mediocre at best and more expensive than other salons. I am particular about my nails and I feel they look sloppy with paint on the cuticles and uneven acrylic that will drive me crazy until I end up fixing it myself. read more

After the pedicure, I got a hot stone shoulder massage while drying my nails. Overall, reasonable price and good service. This will be my go to salon from now on. read more

Terrible paid $35.00 for a gel manicure whole thing took 15 mins. Owner jee was mad I interrupted her watching tv. Never soaked nails or cut cuticles. Paint is sloppy all over. When asking her to fix she was rude and told me no. Will never go back and do not recommend. read more

I went to this salon and I was the only customer there throughout the entire time I was getting g nails done. I was getting a set of nails put on. The nail salon owner did my nails. She was nice. She knew I was staying at a hotel in the area. She knew I making my way up the East coast for a vacation experience. I'm giving one star because I believe she overcharged me. My full set of nails( hands) came to $ 90.00!! I've never ever have been charged this much for French nails, no dip, nothing out of the ordinary. I felt as if she knew because I was on vacation that I would be willing to pay this price. It wasn't as if she had to fit me in her busy shop either; it was completely empty. She did do a nice average job on my nails but I would've expected this from any shop. Also, there was no pricing advertised anywhere in the shop. Maybe I should have asked the price before she began. I just moved to the Penllyn area and decided to check this place out since it's so close to me. First I'd like to point out that everyone that works here is extremely friendly and welcoming. The owner asked me my name and took down my information when I told her it was my first time there so I would receive emails for specials and coupons. I got a pedicure and was happy with my experience. There wasn't anything extraordinary about it, but it was very relaxing and the woman working on my toes did a great job. They also give you a massage while you're waiting for the polish to try which is always an added bonus. I'll definitely stop in here again at some point! read more

I called a day in advance and asked for a full set. I got there and Jee, the owner i'm guessing, said that she was going to do a gel with tip instead and failed to inform me about the price. I go to pay and she tells me it will be $95. I was not willing to pay $95 dollars for a manicure and told her that. She asked me how much I was expecting to pay and said she will give it to me for $70, still a ridiculous amount. Her changing what I wanted to the more expensive version then being able to change the price that dramatically just shows how much of a scam this place is. Such a rip off. Never go here without talking about price BEFORE. Side note, they aren't anything special. The gel is lumpy and uneven. read more

Joy did an amazing job including the foot and leg massage, while my nails were drying she gave a deep, relaxing neck and shoulder massage. Had the best manicure and pedicure at Penllyn Nail Salon. Jee and Sammie do a wonderful job. You think you are in a getaway spa. It is so restful and relaxing. You not only get a perfect service but a shoulder massage as well when your nails are drying. Prices are reasonable and a bargain for the level of service provided. Parking is easy. I love this place! Sunny is great, she is always game when I want to try something different with my manicure! They are under new ownership, and they've made some nice changes, but it's still great. I've been a loyal customer for a little more than a year, and I've never been disappointed. The spa pedicure is great, the hot stone massage is a nice treat. Prices are very reasonable. Haven't had my nails done in a long time, but have a wedding to go to and wanted to have them done. Jee and Umi are wonderful. Had a gel manicure and a pedicure which included what you normally expect, nails trimmed, soaked, polished, hand and foot massage. Also hot stone massage for my legs during the pedicure, and a hot stone neck massage while my finger nails were drying. Almost fell asleep it was so relaxing. The salon was spotlessly clean, new tools or sterilized tools used. Great service, great people - new management for the last 7 months and definitely my new go-to nail salon. read more

I went to get acrylic nails put on with one of my girl friends & it was terrible. We called & made appointments but the person on the phone didn't speak any English and only scheduled one appointment & not two so we had to wait. Then she kept arguing that her design looked better than what my friend wanted. I asked for acrylic & they refused & put gel on instead. All of the polish chipped off of my nails & 2 fell off within 5 days & the others are coming off. I have never had that happen to me before & I have had acrylic nails put on multiple times. About a week later & I'm out $60 & have to go somewhere else to get these taken off & new ones put on. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

This is a clean looking shop and hot rock massage is nice. I went there twice recently but will not be going back again. It's a pricey shop and the prices change depending on who is doing your nails. The pricing I was given on the phone and what was charged were very different....good thing I brought more money with me. On the 2nd visit the gel was put on so thick I could not believe it, I can't even get it off it is so thick. But the most irritating thing about this shop is that 3 of the women working there spent my entire appointment talking to each other in whatever language they speak and totally ignored me even when I spoke. In fact, the only time I felt acknowledged was when it was time to pay. So definitely not a place I would recommend to anyone. This place was terrible. My friends and I went there for a pre-wedding bridal party pamper afternoon and we left very disappointed. Bride included. They told us they would close down the place for us for a couple hours yet they took walkins anyway. We all got pedicures and gel manicures. Two of my friends didn't event get cuticles cut on there pedis. One of them had to get the gel mani in the pedi chair while holding the driers and had to switch her own hands as the woman left to work on another girl. No the comfortable and relaxing afternoon anyone would want. It wasn't that crowded and we made proper appointments to allowed plenty of time for all. They did the gel first then cut the cuticles on some manis, which as you may know ruins the gel. Some of us brought simple designs to be added to the manis. When we showed them the photos of these simple designs (glitter on the top, or a line across the nail in gold for the bride) they looked with terror in their eyes. (not even kidding)....some of us decided against the design and the reply was ..."oh thank you." As in "thank god I don't have to do them because I have no idea what the hell Im doing." My nails, after 3 coats were seethough. when i told her to perhaps get a fresh bottle, she responded, do you want a design on top? I said no and proceeded to explain to perhaps put more polish on the brush or get a new bottle. There was no reaction. The bride got a different design that she wanted but they were able to add a splash of glitter on her pink/ivory nail polish (which chipped the following day...yes the wedding day). $60-90 later we all left very unhappy. We have all agreed we have never received a worst mani/pedi...and at that price. Im not sure if those were regular prices but for a small suburban town nail salon..that is absurd!!!! Those are spa prices. The lady next to me, who was one of the walking....came in for a repaint as she was telling the girl her nails chipped as well. This means they must not be using fresh polish.....advice to anyone who is considering.....go elsewhere...unless you want to get ripped off. read more
