I've not been to a Salad Galley since the old Westgate days. I kind of knew the one on Navarre…read moreexists, but I always forget about it. I was out there the other day and made a mental note to remember it and alas, went for lunch today. I had the Betty's salad with a fried bologna sandwich combo. With a small fountain drink, it was $12 bucks and change. GREAT DEAL! The salad had fresh spinach, bacon, egg, lots of bean sprouts, onion, all the good things Betty's salad should have. The Betty's dressing was great too. The fried bologna... OK, not exactly gourmet, but definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. If this sandwich is on the menu, I have to try it! Their version of this is really great. Your choice of bread (sour dough, white, rye, wheat, etc). It comes with lots of bologna and cheese with your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc). Not as great as G & R Tavern in Waldo (seriously, fried bologna or sandwich spread lovers - you need to go), but a very generous, well-made sandwich. This will probably be my go-to every time I go back. The place is clean, the portions are generous, and the food is really good. Looking forward to return visits!

What a variety of freshly made salads and usually at least 6 or more soups to choose from. This casual spot fills up at lunchtime, many people catching a bite to eat from nearby St Charles. I love the tuna noodle salad and the broccoli the best. Oh they also have sandwiches. But the salads are the bomb!

They had a special for a smash burger and fries for $10 bucks that looked good but what caught my eye was the beef sandwiches. I ended up ordering the Blue Cheese Beef which consisted of shredded beef topped with melted blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes. One of my friends ordered the smash burger deal and my wife ordered the Cheesy Spinach flatbreads. We were also there early enough for the happy hour drink specials and ordered some draft beer. Our first drinks came pretty quickly and the food wasn't too far behind. My beef sandwich came with an au jus sauce and a side of tater tots. This sandwich was amazing and I will probably order it again the next time we are there. The beef was tender and flavorful and the blue cheese with bacon stepped up the flavors. My wife really enjoyed her flatbread as it had the perfect amount of cheese and crispy crust. My friend liked her smash burger as well which looked like a generous size for the special. The only thing that could have been improved is for our waitress to check on us more frequently. Our drinks had run dry and we were almost done eating before she came back. Besides that, the food was great and I recommend you to stop in here for one of their daily specials or get yourself a beef sandwich.
