This is one of the disgusting salads that wasn't supposed to have walnut but as you can see there were quite a few.

Food was absolutely disgusting!! Ordered 3 salads, a pizza and the pub pretzels. The only thing edible was the pretzels, even though they were cold. The salads all had chicken on them and the chicken smelled like it went bad. I had a few bites and immediately was sick from it. The salad that I requested no walnuts on was full of walnuts. The pizza had a terrible smell and was also cold. I will never go backbto this or any other Beer Barrel again. For $80 you would think you could expect a little better than a fast food restaurant but I would have been better off getting McDonald's.

Visited Beer Barrel on a Sunday evening with a decent-sized group, and we had a great experience. The place wasn't too busy, which made for a laid-back, comfortable atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly, patient, and handled our group's many orders with ease. Everyone ordered something different, and every dish came out warm, fresh, and delicious--no complaints from anyone at the table! It's a great spot if you're looking for a casual, easygoing family meal with good food and solid service. Would definitely go back!

Words cannot express the experience that we just had at your restaurant. So, I'll let the photo speak for itself. After waiting over 45 minutes for our food, this pizza was delivered to our table like this cold with an explanation that it fell apart coming out of the oven. I would be beyond embarrassed serving this to a table when your customers were paying nearly $35 for this. Them taking the cold food off the bill was the minimum they could do and was appreciated. Giving a $10 gift card and telling us "now you have to come back" was offensive and I wish I would have left it on the table - but that manager probably wouldn't have cared. The first manager that stopped at our request was empathetic and seemed appalled. The food manager wouldn't even answer a simple question about how she would feel with that being delivered to her table. Hopefully they use our poor experience as a learning opportunity in communication.

The garlic knots are very good and delicious!!! The pork nachos I had were mediocre at best and that's being generous. Won't ever get those again. My group also had a wrap and he said it was "edible". His words not mine. It's not great and it's not awful it mid grade bar food with to big of a menu. How about narrowing it down and doing those things better and forget doing the rest and doing it bad. I should have just stuck with Pizza and that would have been better.

I've been here twice. Once I sat outside and the other time was inside. Both times I felt service was great, the food tasty, and drinks were awesome! They have a nice beer list but also provide some delicious cocktails and wine. I love French onion soup and was so happy that they serve it AND it was delicious. The restaurant was clean and well managed. Can't wait to come back!

This place offers plenty of seating for any size party. There are tv in the corners and can mostly be seen wherever you sit. The atmosphere is a bit noisy. The staff seems friendly. Our service was good. The food was good. The spicy cheese balls were decent. The seafood platter came with plenty of food. They have solid "sides" to choose from. The au gratin potatoes were very good. The spaghetti was ok. Overall not a bad stop. I would return.

This was my first visit to Beer Barrel and I was suitably impressed. It takes a very good impression for me to give a chain five stars, even a smaller regional chain like this one. I usually remove one star because of dilution of quality for the sake of location replication. But some chains pull it off, and this seems to be one of them. It is easy to succumb to the fallacious thought in American business that the answer to everything is growth and expansion. This is one of eight active locations in this chain, all in Ohio. Perhaps the reason this is better than most chains is that it has local roots. The original Beer Barrel opened in Lima in 1965. The expansion started in 2005 with new owners. Beer Barrel is owned by a corporation called Good Food Restaurants that also owns and operates a couple of other brands. The current Beer Barrel locations are in Columbus, Lima, Findlay and St. Mary's in addition to this Maumee establishment. An additional Lima store is about to be added as well as another one in Ft. Wayne, IN that will be their first location outside of Ohio. We visited on a Friday night, and it was packed (to the capacity allowed under current restrictions). We had a half-hour wait for a table in spite of the rather spacious dining area this place offers. As the weather has warmed and the vaccine news is leading to more optimism about the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, people appear very serious about returning to normal. Over the last two weeks, restaurants in Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio have been bursting at their 50%-capacity seams from what I've seen. I think people are more than ready to put this ugly chapter of our lives behind us. Once we were seated, the service was excellent. There was a large bar in the middle of the floor and the tables and booths were in the space surrounding it. Our server Alexis (Lexy) did a superb job taking care of us throughout our stay. The NCAA basketball tournament games were on the TVs surrounding the bar and the floor, which was a nice touch. The menu featured many favorites one might find at a pizza pub, along with a few creative options. We started with the Hummus and Guacamole Board, which was terrific. It featured carrots, celery, cucumbers and tortilla chips as dippers, with two types of hummus and jalapeño-laden guacamole as dips. It was a satisfying starter. For mains, we split a California Cobb Salad and a Thai Chicken Pizza. The salad featured mixed greens, bacon, egg, avocado, bleu cheese crumbles, tomato, cucumber, and scallions, with a seasoned grilled chicken breast skewer. We chose honey mustard dressing, which was a nice complement. The pizza included Thai sauce, grilled chicken, mozzarella, mushrooms, sweet red peppers and topped with green onions and cilantro. It tasted great. We had plenty to take home, and the leftovers lasted two more meals. With food, drinks (iced tea and club soda), tax and tip, our total expense was $51. At $25.50 per person, this was a reasonable deal considering the quality of the fare and the fact that we got extra meals from our take home portion. I was happy with the value. We'll look forward to visiting again.

This entire review was voice-texted while I was waiting for medical treatment for food poisoning...no joke. Okay, once again, I apologize for reviewing another food chain... as I should be bright enough to realize that no amount of negative yelping is going to change a corporation that is top-down ran from some remote office hundreds of miles away from the actual restaurant, but if Yelp isn't the democratic voice of the culinarily-disenfranchised, I don't know what is. I might not get the $82 I paid to this place back, but at least I can quietly complain into my voice-dictating phone with the hope that I persuade at least one person to listen. Beer Barrel sounded great. The interior looked great. The website menu even looked great. But that's where the greatness ends. The experience simply cannot hold up to it's end of the deal. Despite asking for one of the restaurant's multiple available booths, the hostess insisted on sitting my family of four right next to the apparently oft-used emergency exit which pleasantly welcomed freezing drafts of air to hit my family, all of whom were apparently underdressed for such an occasion. I should've brought my winter coat. The weather was miserable and unfortunately the wait staff seemed to care less. Sitting next to us was a massive, but ironically vacant fireplace. Alas. But the frigid weather became the least of my concerns. One might criticize me for not ordering their namesake pizza, but something drew me to their close-cousin, the "Fresh Sweet Italian Sausage burger." How great is that name? I am admittedly a sucker for marketing. Maybe this order was my fault? The sausage patty had a semi-cancerously-charred exterior with a delightfully undercooked interior. Every bite tore off and chewed like a semi-gristly piece of leather or a soft chewy mess. I'm not certain my mind could send off an alarm bell toward me in either direction: overcooked and undercooked? Regardless, here I am stuck in the hospital hoping for some type of quick fix for my pain. To Beer Barrel's defense, I suppose my sickness could have come at the fault of something else, but my stomach pangs coming at the perfectly timed 45 minute mark after finishing this gnarly masterpiece has me convinced otherwise. My wife's food choices didn't land her in the emergency room, however, it left much to be desired. Her own words: " The salmon cooked on my quinoa bowl was cooked well, however the pickled onions dripping in pickled juice saturated the entire bowl. It was overwhelming. Like, salmon floating in a sea of pickled onion juice. Imagine that." But of all things to complain about, it wasn't the undercooked food, the stomach pains, or the sea of pickled onion juice that convinced me to audio-narrate this review, but the lackadaisical attitude of the entire wait staff. Terrible wait times, empty drinks yearning for refills, hostess refusals for booths, and best yet, the random groups of employees standing around socializing with each other while I sit terrified of being viewed as a Karen for pointing out that my sausage puck of a sandwich is a wee too pink for my liking. My lord, the hospital waiting room can do weird things to your diction. I really wanted to like Beer Barrel. And honestly, I apologize for my scathing words. Like any other negative review I have penned (oops, voiced), I just wish a voice of truth could be found out there, sandwiched between conveniently excited reviews from bots and/or restaurant family members looking to help a business that is probably struggling for a legit and deserving reason. What? You say no one reads your stupid yelp reviews? Then Beer Barrel has nothing to worry about. ;)

Beer Barrel is dangerously close to doing this thing that The Cheesecake Factory does, in that it has an 800 page menu, which several types of foods, that is overwhelming, making it impossible to make a decision. Like my dad always says, you can't be great at one thing when you're too busy trying to be alright at 10 things. That said, I have come to enjoy stopping in while I'm at the mall, and I want to begin with a REALLY IMPORTANT TIP. It always appears to be a busy place, but there's a small bourbon room across from the host stand that offers a full bar, full menu, and no one is ever in there. It's only for adults and a fantastic private spot. I get the same thing every time, to start: Flaming Saganaki Crispy Thai Spring rolls Cheese Wedges For our entree we love to split the San Antonio White Chicken Pizza, it can feed two people.

No longer open. The hotel changed ownership and the restaurant inside has been rebranded.read more

Like Fen said, good luck finding this place based on the address. The pleasantly declarative "You…read morehave arrived" from my car's nav system took place in front of what I took to be a hospital grounds. There's nothing close to the road; it's all back a few hundred meters on a windy driveway. What exists at this address is actually the University of Toledo medical center (right) and a Hilton hotel (left). The restaurant is inside the hotel. At first I thought that their slick, over-animated website had sold me a bill of goods. There was NOBODY else there. Restaurant pickings on Sunday night in Toledo are slim, so I thought that I had lucked out to find a legitimate, classy restaurant with top-notch food and a swanky vibe. Nope. It was handsome in that hotel-restaurant way, so there was no impediment to enjoying my meal but nothing to sell the place either. And the absence of other diners is usually a strong point, but nobody wants to walk into a completely empty restaurant, right? Thankfully, the food redeemed them. Lamb chops, B+: You can tell that these weren't the choicest cuts of meat, but they were prepared very nicely in a rosemary and red-wine demiglace. Very tasty. Calamari, B: Fried squid is always worth eating, but there is definitely good calamari and mediocre calamari. This avoided mediocrity by sporting a lighter batter and being served with a savory, chunky marinara. Thai cashew rolls, C: The weak link. I had forgotten that they had cashews and thought that there were crunchy chunks of carrot in the rolls. There was something unpleasantly creamy inside the roll, almost like cream cheese. It wasn't listed on the ingredients for this dish, though. The sweet chili sauce saved this dish from being a total wash. Crab cakes, A: The star of the meal. These were some of the best crab cakes I've ever tasted, and that's saying something. In Toledo, OH? Yes! Simple--just crab meat and a few vegetables, still mostly crunchy. No bullshit fillers or flavorings. There was a lemony sort of dressing which set off the crab cakes (and the accompanying salad) very well. Delicious.
