A group of about 26 of us were going to go here, but we found out that they have smoking. If you notice every photo that they have onsite has a pack of cigarettes next to it, if that tells you anything. So we all found someplace else to go . Pennisons is the kind of place that can be a little too fun when you're with your friends, but not the type of bar you would want to go to by your self. Come for the drinks, not for the food. While Pennisons does have a food menu, it consist of items you find in the frozen food section of your local grocery store (pizza rolls, microwaveable hamburgers etc.) I have to admit, the pizza rolls can be quite savory after some hard drinking, but you should probably eat before visiting a little bar such as this one. To keep the patrons busy, you can play pool, darts and NTN trivia. They also offer karaoke and live music a couple nights a week. read more

This is a great watering hole... when you live right next door, the party is grinding on at your place and you need a change of scenery. The drinks are decently priced, decently made and go down decently well. They have decent cigars in their case, which are decently priced for a decent sized smoke. Yes, this means that the ladies should leave their nice purse at home and be prepared to hack up a lunch the morning after. They have decent fried food which is cooked in the COOLEST FREAKING FRYING MACHINE I HAVE EVER LAID MY EYES ON! Its by far the coolest thing this place has to offer. With a name like fry-a-lator its gotta be good! One of the cooler things about this place is the 80s cover band that plays. They really get after it. If I was in the mood to drink and wanted out of the house and knew when they were playing, I would probably make the trip. read more

I like this place. It's perfect if you want to just play a couple games of pool, enjoy a few frosty ones after work, or if you want to listen to some live music on a weekend night. We've gone for all three reasons, and have no complaints at all. now, i will say the pool tables aren't exactly professional or regulation, but for a fun challenge between friends, it will certainly do. and I am one of the few smokers remaining, it seems - and I really like that you can smoke in there, and you don't get dirty looks from other patrons! read more

It stinks to high heaven. The cigarette smoke is overwhelming. Stale smoke mixed with a ton of fresh smoke. It's just nasty. I left after 20 minutes and I stank too. I like to go home smelling good not smelling like an ashtray. read more

I'm sorry to say but this is not a place you want to go with your group of girlfriends! My girls and I went for a recent girls night out and we needed a male escort to feel secure!! The drinks were reasonably priced and the band wasn't terrible but the crowd was not to our liking. I can't really imagine a scenario where I would feel compelled to make a second visit!! This place has so much potential, but for some reason it is never crowded and seems to be going downhill. I love to go see some of my favorite local bands here - they have a large stage and dance floor, but for some reason most people end up sitting around the bar which is across the room so in front of the stage and dance floor it is empty. There are no waitresses here so you have to go to the crowded bar to get drinks. If they re-arranged the set up here, this could be a pretty decent live music venue. Unfortunately, they do allow smoking here, which is a major negative. read more

I've always had fun at this bar. It's laid back and not nearly as pretentious as other "trendier" bars. It's a good place to kick back, hear a good band, and throw down a few beers or ten. The crowd is a little older, but so am I, and it's in the middle of suburbia, but all in all a fun place to go relax. Giving a 1 star because that is the lowest I can rate. I've been here before with no problems and tonight I walk in with a huge group, wait forever for the bartender to get us beverages but insists on starring at our ID's for a good 5 minutes. Why? Then asks where we are from and looks us up and down trying to measure our size. I really don't mind getting carded because I do look young but there is a certain professional way to do it. Very uptight crowd with bad music. I may have high standards since I am not from here but this isn't Midtown. We are here to relax and have a few beers. read more

Love the staff...the ONE thing I would suggest or hope is that they get chexmix or peanuts because we get the munchies when we drink.

I really want to like this bar. It's local, locally owned, its been around a long time - all positives. Unfortunately, this is not enough to compensate for all of the smoke. It's really bad. We were there for two hours and we smelled so much like cigarettes when we left that you could still smell it in my car the next morning. It was gross. read more

Wish I could give it 0 stars, because that's how many drinks we got at the bar. We walked in around midnight thinking that the reviews couldn't all be true...Well they were. We walked in made eye contact with two bartenders, he continued to text on his phone and the other chick completely ignored me. On top of that and standing there for 5 minutes he helped someone else then came over just to card us. He looked at all the women's I.Ds then looked them up and down to "check the height" when we finally asked for a drink he said one minute and went back to his phone, we left and we would have spent more than 100 there easily because the drink prices are horrific. If you like 40 year old men wearing hollister and a backwards hat with plaid shorts this spot is for you. If you lile the high-school jock who "never made it" this spot is for you. If you like bad service, expensive drinks, and a bad atmosphere it's definitely for you. read more

Too loud, then again I'm not a fan of anything loud. The people there are not the best crowd, at least that's not somewhere I would normally go with my friends and be around people like that. The workers weren't friendly at all and it reeks of smoke, horribly. If the owner values his bar he should staff if with more friendly employees. The only reason my friends and I came here was because someone told her it was a good place, the only good thing is that the drinks were cheap.
