I ate here three time since Penny's Diner opened. That was enough. No more. Their staff is really earnest! I really think the folks who served me wanted to do well, but the quality of the ingredients is so very poor. I dare you to eat their so-called "Rockin' Reuben Sandwich" and not recoil in disgust at what they refer to as 'corned beef.' It is the second-most horrible food proffered for money that I can imagine. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week - I'll give it that. There seems to be no meal this place cooks that I can't remember as horrible. It appears clean! Point for that. Otherwise, buyer beware. Never had a bad experience eating there. It's a true diner, so expect diner food. There are too many whiners on Yelp. Yes, grilled sandwiches are greasy and bacon sometimes burns around the edges (Diner 101). It's a DINER! Sure beats drive-thru food, or overpriced food-as-art in the 'burbs. It's a comfortable place to loiter and sip coffee, and it's open 24/7. For a small town, that's awesome. I prefer it to Waffle House. read more

Stayed at the Travelodge behind the restaurant, which actually doubles as the hotel's front desk. Restaurant is open 24/7 and is clean. Staff is super friendly, food is quite good. I only had the breakfast. Free WiFi, non smoking. read more

I stopped at Penny's for breakfast to start the day off right as I journey to my new place in Nashvile! Eric, the chef, was awesome and my food was delicious. I had a great cup of coffee, a breakfast burrito to die for and the place itself was just so adorable. If your passing through town or just a regular, Penny's is the place to go! read more

Downgrading my previous review. This place sucks. From the disgusting sewage / wet-mop "aroma" when you walk in, to the absolutely inedible food, there are no positives. Don't waste your time or your money in this establishment. The flatware was filthy. Not water stains on those knives and forks. I could not eat my sandwich. It was terrible, greasy and overcooked. Hard to mess up a sandwich, but here they can do it. read more

Nice and quite roadside diner for a quick bite. Place needs to be cleaned. Old food on the floor, bathrooms dirty and grease above the walls at the grills. Food was good and fresh. Waitstaff was friendly and kept drinks full. If you passing by and need a fast bite this is the place for you. read more

Just come out of penny's diner, I was excited to visit but it was 10 minutes before we even got a menu & then 30 minutes before anyone even took our order!! Then a further 30 minute wait for food we left almost 2 hours later. Can't even say the food was any good to be worth the wait. The only thing I will say was that the ladies worked very hard but they were hugely understaffed for a bank holiday. Won't be going back read more

Despite numerous assurances that my meal was coming right out, it took 40 minutes to get served. Lots of staff, but no one appeared to be in charge. What's worse, I was sitting next to the grill an could see what I ordered wasn't being cooked. I did get my side of green beans 15 minutes before the rest of the meal. Not good. read more

Service was not good. They had a restaurant full of customers and it was obvious the cook, who was very good by the way, was in the weeds. I mentioned something to the manager and her assistant, who were standing around, but they ignored me. Took us 40 minutes to get our food, and some was cold. It's a little better than okay. I'll eat here again. Food was prepped in a reasonable amount of time. I had the "Ranch Breakfast" - country fried steak, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast. Steak was bland, as was the gravy. The cook did the eggs right. Sunny side up can be tricky to time but he did a good job. Toast was fresh. Hashbrowns a little undercooked but I should have specified them to be done extra crispy for my liking. I won't order this dish again but I'll give them more chances to improve upon this. I was excited about a new diner coming to brunswick- I've had up and down experience with this place, I've came in at breakfast hour and had wonderful pancakes, bacon, and eggs- I've came in for dinner to get French toast and it tasted like a cheeseburger- I don't think they properly clean the grill after each meal is served- the cook also doesn't wear a hair net or a net for his beard so the chance of me eating hair is likely- things I would modify. Chicken tenders are way over cooked normally because they have one cook for the whole place and he can't watch everything. read more

Plain food, great prices, good service, bright shiny new interior. Everything you'd expect from a diner. We were able to have breakfast in the afternoon which pleased us. Condiments on the table to spice up food that's probably good for children and older adults. Coffee could be stronger. Good bacon and sausage and hashbrowns. Lots of fun memorabilia to decorate the diner designed ala' railroad car. It's about a 25 minute drive for us but we will definitely come back if we were in the area read more

Disgusting food! I was hoping to have a decent meal at this place but after eating there for the first time today, I will never go back. They have a small one-page menu which would have been fine if it had better options. The breakfast foods were surprisingly pricey, so I ordered a cheeseburger and lost my appetite after biting into a bone ... not just once, but twice. The burger was made from a pre-formed previously frozen patty loaded with gristle. It had a horrible rubbery texture. My boyfriend ordered chopped steak which he described as "worse than hospital food". Our 2 sodas and 2 entrees cost more than $25.00. It was a complete waste of money and makes me nauseous just thinking about it. Any other restaurant would have been a better option. read more

The food order preparation was slow and we were one of two customers inside. We were informed upon sitting down that they were out of tomatoes. While we were there they ran out of rye bread. The burgers we ordered were tasty but took a long time to complete. The cook didn't pay attention to our requests for how we wanted the burgers prepared. Overall it is a diner and it's dinner food. Should have listened to my gut and left when I saw the cook scraping disgusting amounts of black gunk off of the flat top before she began cooking our meal, blah! Gross. Food was great. Service was terrible. We had to ask server several times for drink refills, etc. We are locals and had hoped for a better experience since there are not a lot of options in town. Was here for breakfast after staying at the oak tree inn next door. People were very friendly and the place is very cute and clean. The food was disappointing. Pancakes were rubbery and flavorless, no real butter, a must for pancakes. Hash browns were typical sysco frozen plain shredded potatoes, no flavor. Omelets were bland. First time trying Penny's Diner and we really enjoyed our meal. I've always liked watching my food being cooked as I can see them as I sit there. A young girl cooked for us and I could tell that she loved cooking for people and when you are served any meal that was made with Love in their heart, you betcha its going to be EXCELLENT. This is the second time I've been to Pennys diner. The first time was for milkshakes, which were just chocolate milk. I thought maybe the food would be better....I was wrong. First the prices for a diner are way too much and the service is way too slow. I ordered the Fish Fillet sandwich which according to their menu is served on a hoagie roll with tarter sauce. Well all I got was a smashed hamburger bun which is way too small compared to the size of the fish and no sauce. Two of my kids got the build your own burger and even though on the menu you choose the condiments like ketchup and mustard, they didn't put any of it on. My daughter ordered the Reuben sandwich and it was so flat and you couldn't even tell there was sauerkraut on it. For the price of that sandwich it should've been loaded with meat and sauerkraut. I think their main staple is Breakfast but I will never go back to try it. read more
