Food was awesome. Service was great. Was a pain that they have no menus, you have to scan the QR code to see the menu. Would recommend. Such a cute lil 50's diner that looks like a train!

Their food is the standard diner food, can't go wrong with it. It's a cute little diner there isn't many seats inside, I really like the feeling you get sitting inside.. like that "home town" feeling. Service is great and the waitress are down to earth. I really like Penny's, prices are fair as well. With this omelette I also got the choice of a pancake or toast.

Amazing food and service! Would highly recommend. We brought a group of 6 and everyone was extremely satisfied. A great classic style diner with friendly employees. Would definitely come back!

Excellent service. Very clean. Delicious club sandwich. Little pricey, but that's because of the location not the diner itself.

Kind of an "It'll do" place if you're traveling Route 340 after 9:00p.m. and would prefer a reuben over a Big Mac.

My impression of the menu is that it's kind of a Middle Eastern, Mexican, American, everything place. The Philly sub was more of a flat sandwich than a traditional philly, different style of bread, but tasty and satisfying. I opted for the chips instead of the french fries to cut some calories Feels very much like an old school neighborhood pub. Looking around, and taking the fact that it's a very small town, I can see this being a social focal point for the area. A nice full bar. There wasn't anything to dislike about it, nice people, nice food, warm, and comfortable, easy five stars. BUT. The one thing that pushed it way over the top was that instead of standing there, awkwardly intimidating, with the card machine in their hand waiting for me to pay, THEY LEFT IT ON THE TABLE AND WALKED AWAY! I can't express how happy this made me. Little things go a long way.

The converted church space gives it real character, and the atmosphere is warm without trying too hard. The staff were friendly, quick to engage, and kept things moving even with a steady crowd. It's the kind of spot where you can settle in for a quiet hour, meet someone for a casual lunch, or for C&O cyclists, refuel with a solid drink and good service.

This spot is located in the "city center" of Brunswick. Parking is plentiful, and I got a spot a block up. I had a schedule to keep, so I just got an iced coffee to go, but I loved taking in the decor of the place. It was a sunny day and the light was streaming through the stained glass windows. There is a food menu and some baked goods, though I didn't get anything to eat. There are also cute little stickers, magnets, keychains etc. advertising the area and the C&O towpath that a lot of bikers like to ride. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be a regular place to meet up with friends. It's a really unique spot!

When you spend $50+ per person you expect to get quality food, amazing service or a unique…read moreatmosphere. This place has none of that. If you're looking for a place that is loud, with well intentioned but unskilled teenage servers serving hit or miss food at top dollar- this is exactly the place for you. If you want an environment that cares more about selling large quantities of alcohol to already intoxicated people, you've also found the place. The prime rib couldn't have been worse if they tried. It tasted like it had been bathed in liquid smoke and salt water. The meat was over cooked for the medium I ordered and it had the consistency of a cheap sirloin that can only be achieved when you don't take the time to cook it correctly. The au jus was too salty and Smokey to use- literally like a 50/50 mix liquid smoke and saltwater. The baked potato was ok on the inside but the skin and about 1/2" of the outer portions were tough as shoe leather. I don't know how that's even possible. Drink refills were few and far between. The servers are all great kids from the local high school who try hard, but the only reason they got a tip was because they are local kids that my kids know- not because the service was great. Let's talk about the noise for a minute. That place has tables crammed into every inch of that musky smelling old home. When you add in drink servers who are motivated by money and enabled by a lack of leadership- you get a bunch of loud drunks. Throw in live music and you're guaranteed to have a place so loud you can't hear anyone at your table trying to talk. The banana pudding used to be our favorite so we ordered two to go, we ended up throwing one away and the other was left half eaten. It tastes like store bought pudding with cheap whipped topping- nothing else. We have a three strikes rule and this was strike #3, definitely not coming back here. If you want quality food for the masses, Andy's down the street has great pizza for a fraction of the price of this place. Daughter Thai across the street is about the same price point as 1836, but offers consistent quality in their food with an atmosphere perfect for a family dinner. If you're looking for overpriced bar food and a place that doesn't care how many drinks you've had- I think this is the perfect place for you and your fraternity brothers. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer is good and their schnitzel platter is great, just avoid the steaks, prime rib, drinks that need refills, anything with fries and you're fine. This is our third attempt in three years and we are done. Which is sad because there aren't many options in town. Deep breath in...Unless you count the time when they closed for the night unexpectedly and we ordered them via their website because they forgot to turn off their system so they charged us and it took an hour before their system realized nothing was happening and we had to wait almost a week for them to refund the money but the owner emailed it was coming and didn't apologize or explain why they left their orders on when they closed because he really didn't seem to care about it....inhales deeply to catch breath...then this was trip #4. Either way, this place is scratched off the list unless we are looking for a bar with loose moral standards and not food.

Made a reservation not like you really need one, but we made one and was seated down pretty quickly. The host was nice and friendly and the wait staff said hello to us within the five minutes of us seating. I appreciated how family-friendly this place was, they give these cute little animal boxes with different things inside and crayons to keep the kids entertained. The decoration is fun with a lot of outdoor vibes and stuffed real animals. They bring out a side of chip and a yogurt dill dip that's interesting, a fun idea. The food, mhm so we ordered a lot! Crab dip: 2.5/5 not too bad but not memorable, okay amount of crab, flavors were too heavy on the cream cheese/fillers but just okay, they need more bread with it but the chips helped. Prob wouldn't order again Crab cake: 3.8/5 pretty good size and good amount of crab and good flavor probably the best dish that we had ordered here! Would get again. Burger: 3/5 granted I did order this medium well for my kid, but the burger was charred a little too much around the burger, giving it a sort of dry crunch on the edges and charcoal burn vibes. Not my favorite texture that I would want on a burger, but perhaps it would've been different if I ordered a medium? Bread itself was a little stale/crunchy which I did not prefer how it was cooked/prepared. Overall, it was just okay. Ribs: 2.5/5 the ribs were half off ribs so I decided to go for it because of the good deal. But it was just okay, being that Blackhog barbecue is right next-door (thier dry rub ribs are amazing), I would hope that they would step up their barbecue rib game. For a " full rack" there were only nine bones and seemed a little smaller than what I'm used to. It's very heavy on the sauce which I didn't think was the best pairing and wasn't the best flavor bbq sauce. Overall, I wouldn't order it again. Steak kabob: 3.2/5 this was actually pretty tender for the cut of meat, I'm surprised that I didn't have to work for it so I was happy about that! The only criticism that we have is that the meat itself did not have that much flavor or seasoning and there's only one skewer of meat and one skewer of veggies. Meaning the total amount of meat that was probably on that dish was no more than 4 -5 ounces of steak. And for that price point, I would want a little bit more meat. Mac and Cheese: 3.5/5 pretty good for a kids Mac! Good cheese and flavor was impressed! Overall, the service and the host in the experience of being there was pretty good, but the food was a little lacking not sure if I would go again, but it was on our right experience in terms of food
