    Vegetable omelette with home fries
    Adam A.

Solid breakfast option in Frederick. Loved the omelette and home fries. Huge portions! Sausage gravy was ok - unfortunately the dry crumbly biscuits didn't do it any favors. Friendly staff and they kept the coffee refills coming. Really enjoyed it and will go back when I'm in the area again.

My daughter and I were taking her dog to the vet. While driving around, we found this cool diner. It has a very retro feel. It was like walking back in time. Everyone had a fun, happy vibe. We were starving. It was around lunchtime, but breakfast sounded amazing. We both opted for pancakes. They were fantastic! The scrapple was just ok; nothing special. Our waitress was super busy, but friendly. I loved how the staff was super friendly. They spent a fair amount of time talking to the patrons. It felt like a neighborhood hangout.

    western egg sandwich with sausage

I came in on a whim with a friend of mine and I left stuffed. The western egg sandwich with peppers and onions and sausage knocked me out. I would give four and a half stars if I could. Not quite on the five, but it's close. If you come here, I guarantee you won't leave hungry. The potatoes did need a lot of salt and pepper though, and the salt holes are really big so pour it in your hand and then sift from there, but still good

I don't know what this is but it was fuzzy and gross

Terrible experience. We came here for a good meal and everything was overly mediocre. We were overcharged three times and they got mad at us for asking for the correct price and even tried arguing with the manager. Beth was not a good waitress, she continued to roll her eyes, sigh, scoff, and overcharged us with 3 pepsis, an extra milkshake, and salad we never got. Forgot several items and the milkshake was insanely watery. Everything was overpriced for terrible service and mediocre sad food. The bathrooms were disgusting and had some fuzzy black substance all over the toilets; the dining room; and floors. The burger was raw when asked for medium well. Never coming again even though I came last year and had decent experience.

Still good. Adding some better photos of the menu :) place continues to be consistent and a great place to wait and have a good breakfast while your car gets an oil change across the street.

    Veggie omelet

This was our first time at this diner. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday morning, but we were seated within 5 minutes. The place definitely has the feel of a diner. The staff was working hard. Our visit was not perfect by all means, but our waitress and the food made everything better. The food was delicious. I got a veggie omelet which was cooked perfectly. It came with home fries and toast. It was way too much food. Only ate half and took rest of them home. I also really wanted a side of sausage patty. Omg... it was so good. My husband got the scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. The bacon looked overcooked, but they actually tasted perfect. Besides a couple of hiccups, the overall experience was great. The food was great. The staff was great. We will definitely try to return soon.

Disabled People with a Service Animal - BEWARE I visited Mountain View Diner in Frederick, Maryland, on Monday, March 10, 2025, and was met with immediate hostility and blatant disregard for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by General Manager Paula Dorsey. The first words out of her mouth were not a greeting but a demand to know if my service dog had a vest. I calmly informed her that a vest is not required under ADA law. She escalated the situation by demanding identification for my service animal, which is also not legally required. When I politely informed her of the law, she accused me of being rude. At that point, I responded, "I haven't been rude, yet." She was clearly reluctant to seat us but finally did. Hoping to de-escalate the situation and educate her on the ADA, I politely asked to speak with her. I have received formal ADA training from K9 Partners for Patriots, yet she refused to listen and incorrectly claimed that the health department governs service animals--which is completely false. The health department does not regulate service animal access, yet she insisted otherwise, dismissing federal law entirely. She was defensive, dismissive, and unapologetic the entire time. Her aggressive and combative approach significantly exacerbated my disabilities. As a retired U.S. Army Combat Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, I have traveled across the country with my service animal--by air, taxis, hospitals, and more--and have NEVER been approached in such a rude, confrontational, and unlawful manner. She ignored federal law and refused to acknowledge the only two questions businesses are legally allowed to ask regarding service animals. Instead, she insisted on unlawful requirements that are explicitly prohibited under the ADA. Throughout this entire ordeal, my service animal remained fully under control and engaged in his trained work tasks. There was never any disruption or issue with his behavior. I consistently remained polite, referring to Ms. Dorsey as "ma'am," and genuinely tried to find common ground to ensure she understood ADA law for future interactions. However, she was completely unwilling to listen, learn, or acknowledge her legal violations. While I was ultimately allowed to eat, the experience was unacceptable, discriminatory, and deeply unsettling. The ADA exists to protect individuals with disabilities from exactly this kind of mistreatment, yet Ms. Dorsey's actions showed a complete disregard for the rights of disabled patrons. I understand there are many fake service animals out there, which is exactly why I tried to highlight the importance of understanding the law. A person fraudulently passing off a pet as a service animal would have left and ignored her attempt to bully the situation with her misguided "understanding" of ADA law. Instead, as someone who relies on my service animal as medical equipment, I stood my ground, hoping to educate rather than argue--but Ms. Dorsey made that impossible. I strongly urge anyone with a service animal to avoid this establishment. No disabled person should have to endure this kind of mistreatment, humiliation, or ignorance of their federally protected rights. https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/

    Veggie Omelet with Home Fries

Came here for breakfast on a Saturday with the family. It wasn't crazy busy so we got seated right away. We ordered the Belgian waffle with a side of bacon and home fries. My husband loved the waffle and the home fries was enough to share with the entire family. It was a huge portion! My son had the French toast with two scrabbled eggs and sausages. The kids loved the sausages. I ordered the veggie omelet which came with home fries and toast. 10/10 would recommend the food here. The kids love this place because of the retro vibes. They love looking at all the old school stuff. Definitely recommend this diner for breakfast or lunch!

So we used to be regulars here when we lived in Maryland and always had great service with Francis. Went in today and she was not working but it was ok because the food is always good. We were sat at a booth in the front where the windows are and immediately saw ants crawling around. We asked to be reseated and were accommodated. However!!!!, they continued to try and seat people at the same booth over and over with the same results. In fact, one couple just got up and walked out because it is kind of disgusting having them crawl over your table. The diner has been here for years and definitely in need of some repairs and updating. Three starts are for the food and prices. 2 stars deducted for the rose hard and put away wet appearance.

Pastrami Hot Sandwich on white bread
    Jennifer R.

We visited the Mountain View Diner for lunch today and it was just how we remembered. This 50's style diner, is very retro and casual, that I hope it never changes. Even with the broken tiles and cracks in the windows, the feeling of this diner is very nostalgic and a step back into time. Rachel, our server, was very friendly, and efficient. Our food was delicious. We ordered the triple decker super club and the pastrami sandwich on white bread. Just simple good ol' fashion sandwiches and they were perfect. We love Mountain View Diner, and is a Frederick staple. We can't wait to go back to try more items off their extensive menu.

I had driven two hours and was hungry, but I was also committed to making good decisions. Or at least mostly good decisions... The hostess offered me a seat at the second-floor bar rather than the quoted 25-30 minute wait. Great! Solo diners love surprise upgrades. Unfortunately, when I got upstairs, the one "available" seat had apparently been claimed by a diaper bag and a giant straw sunhat belonging to the woman sitting next to it holding a too-little-to-walk baby sitting at the bar. Uhhh...this isn't going to work. Back downstairs I went. I gave them my name and number, found a shady spot outside, and settled in for what I assumed would be a long wait. Five minutes later, my table was ready. Thank you, Universe! My server greeted me with water immediately, explained the QR code menu situation, and told me not to order through the app because she'd be right back. No worries, friend. I'd already done my homework. I knew exactly what I wanted. One Martha Stewart's Prison Pizza ($22), please. (Sausage, broccoli, ricotta, Calabrian chili peppers, lemon oil, and sea salt.) I asked for the chili peppers on the side because I know myself. I like adventure. I don't enjoy possibly setting my mouth on fire. And a Diet Pepsi ($3.50), because balance. While I waited, I people-watched, which is one of my favorite hobbies. White Rabbit was PACKED. The patio was full. The downstairs bar was full. Upstairs was full. Couples, groups of girlfriends, older folks, younger folks, families, solo diners...everyone seemed happy to be there. The place itself is pretty small, which explains the wait. Six tables downstairs, maybe eight bar seats, more seating upstairs, and a constant dance of servers carrying food through the same front door customers use. Add the "please wait to be seated" crowd gathering in the narrow hallway and I'd describe things as organized chaos. But once I was seated, I was perfectly comfortable and out of the traffic pattern. One cool touch I noticed: outlets and USB ports built right into the front of the bar. Maybe that's common and I've somehow missed it all these years, but I thought it was pretty neat. Then my pizza arrived. Oh good lawd. OH. GOOD. LAWD. This pizza was SO GOOD! I knew from the first bite that I was in trouble. There was no sauce, which surprised me at first, but after approximately three seconds I no longer cared. The sausage was plentiful. The broccoli added texture. The ricotta was creamy and rich. And that lemon oil?! That lemon oil set it off! Everything just worked together perfectly. The Calabrian peppers arrived on the side exactly as requested. I bravely sampled a very small amount on my fork before desecrating my pizza and quickly determined that folks with stronger heat tolerance than me will absolutely love them. They were just a little too spicy for my delicate tastebuds. Thankfully, the pizza was incredible without them. And those slices? MONSTERS. I ate one and seriously contemplated a second before reminding myself that I had dessert plans elsewhere. A box was requested. Self-control was exercised. Barely. As a solo diner, I also want to give White Rabbit extra points. Multiple staff members checked on me throughout the meal. I never felt forgotten, rushed, or weird sitting by myself. Everyone was warm, kind, and made me feel completely comfortable. I really appreciated that. My total bill came to $32.44 including tip which felt really reasonable given the amount of pizza I consumed and brought home. Worth every penny. I'm already scheming my next two-hour drive back. Maybe a smashburger. Maybe those Brussels sprouts everyone keeps raving about. Maybe another pizza. Maybe all of it! I highly recommend checking out White Rabbit. Make it a destination, not just a stop while you're in the area. Don't let the size of the place or the wait scare you off. It's totally worth it. PRO TIP: If you park in the Church Street Parking Garage, look for the staircase labeled "STAIR 3." White Rabbit is literally right outside the door at the bottom. No hide-and-seek required!
