three jars of spices on a table
    Stephanie S.

It's Fall Y'all and that means baking season in my house! I had to come and stock up on some of my favorite baking spices. You can place your order online for pickup or shipped to your door as well. I love that you can go inside the store now and browse to see all the new spices available. I love the layout of the store and how clean it is. The employees are super nice and helpful. They have empty bottles available for purchase as well as gift boxes of pre made or you can choose your own spices. I love getting a variety of spices to try from my favorite spice shop in Beaverton or keep some on hand for gifts or spices to go inside my gift baskets. If you haven't been tried this place you are definitely missing out.

It's a great store to get all your spice fix. They have a great assortment of spices for almost everything you can think of. I liked that they have them in multiple sizes as you can buy a small portion to see if you would want more of it later. I came out with a few spices - Qubec beef, corned beef, and a special pepper one that was on sale. They also have it in a jar where you can smell them.

Penzys Spices at their new location.

Penzeys Spices recently moved from their location near Beaverton Trader Joe's to the shopping center across the street where TJMaxx and Asian Food Market are located. The lady at Penzys said Trader Joes had bought out their lease because they plan to expand. This is good news for fans of the cramped Beaverton Trader Joe's. Its also good news for fans of Penzys too. The parking is much better at the new location and the store is even a tiny bit larger. Penzys Spices carries good quality spices in several sizes. They offer single spices and combinations. They also sell accessories like jars. The lady working here today greeted me and was very pleasant. The store is well organized and neat. Their prices are reasonable for the quality offered.

This small (but mighty) woman-owned business is celebrating 20 years with Kinsey at the forefront focused on their central values of connection & service. Beyond first impressions, they're also thoughtful to care for employees behind-the-scenes, providing paid vacation, 401K matching, health insurance, and other BIG COMPANY benefits. Commitment to quality is experienced in their beautiful chocolate - the eponymous (house) label made by local chocolatier RANGER, alongside a multitude of other local & global brands, pastas, and pantry goods. I came looking for something spicy, and the "FLEUR DE HELL" (play on words - see their "fleur de sel" SALT subscription online) DARK CHOCOLATE is everything - ghost pepper, red pepper flake, and sea salt that makes it savory, spicy, and sweet all at the same time.

Cherry cordials, pear cordials, apple cordials in chocolates. Caramel chocolates, chocolate caramels. Thing is it's hard for not to love the store because it has three of my favorite things: 1. chocolate: shelves and shelves of unique artisan chocolates made with skill and care from all over the world. 2. And salt -- am a VERY big fan of picking up local salts whenever one is traveling -- including actual blocks and blocks of Himalayan salt stacked. Not imitation but the real stuff. They even have fresh popcorn for you to taste the truffle salt with. 3. Lastly they have fresh cut flowers. It's like a florist and you can create your own bouquets. Beautiful specimens with structure and freshness. I have to say they also have bottles and bottles of bitters -- crafted bitters. King Floyd chief among them. The staff person was super helpful. She was kind and educational about many things.

The shop is maintained beautifully, and my group was greeted warmly by Catherine who was working the store during my visit. She gave my group a thorough explanation of all the specialty salts available, and explained the differences in cultivation & flavor profiles of fleur de sel, sel gris, flake, smoked, and shio salts just to name a few. I loved trying the chocolate salt! We also learned about all the different origins and makers of the chocolates available as well. Catherine was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to detail, she made the shopping experience feel fun and comfortable. We ended up purchasing the black truffle salt, sel gris, hana flake salt, the meadow's own backyard blackberry patch & strawberry dark chocolate bars, a few other dark chocolate bars, some of the delectable small individual chocolates at the counter - and we couldn't resist also buying the cutest tiny fairy star salt spoon, too. Amazing experience, and everything was so delicious - I would definitely visit again!
