Great spot for roasted and Peking duck. We also enjoy their fried meat balls. They are not greasy like the other places and also very crunchy with balanced ratio. The flavoring on their roasted pork is also on point and we love the crispy skin but be careful of the piece you select. Little hidden gem that gets missed if you're not familiar with the area. Easily missed since it's not clearly visible. Able to find a lot of your everyday Asian needs, definitely has more offerings and variety when compared to Seasons supermarket in Elk Grove. Customer service was good. My baby threw up all over me and the ground in front of the fridge and vegetable section and their concern was for me and the baby as well as getting the ground cleaned up. No passed judgement or gripe about having to clean up after the mess. They also have a hot foods section in the store with Panda Express style offerings, baos, dim sum and Asian bbq section. Wife and I came for the Peking duck. The duck was some of the best we've been able to get in the area but there isn't many options in the area over all when comparing to the Bay Area . Would definitely swing by for the variety if you're not heading to a larger Asian chain store like SF or 99. Back section has large selection of household cooking utensils and every day needs that aren't for consumption. read more

This review is for their hot food section of the supermarket. I was craving for duck and decided to get one here. The duck was really fresh and juicy and moist. Some places are dry and rubbery. So far this comes a close second to the duck that they sell at Wing Wa Supermarket but I just didn't feel like driving all the way on the other side of town. Based on Yelp reviews, I drove down to People Supermarket for the roast duck. I grew up with Chinese deli meats on weekends and special events and haven't had roast duck in forever. I grabbed one to go and brought it to moms. She's the expert reviewer of these things. In her words, it was tasty but more of a Hong Kong style if that makes sense. She said it was because the skin wasn't super crispy. But she did say it was tasty. The store itself looked clean enough. The deli section is to the left as you walk in and almost like a separate business. You pay for those foods there. They had plenty of hot food options but I chose the duck and that's it. The staff seemed friendly enough for asian market standards. Don't expect a super warm hello or big smiles. If they ask you what you want and don't ignore you, that's a plus. Also, expect the older Chinese ladies to squeeze in front of you to try to cut the line. I just conveniently stand in body block them, they get the message. It's not considered rude to do that. They will take advantage if you let them. Overall clean store, great tasting duck. I'll have to go back to try some of their other hot foods. read more

I'm was coming out of town and my aunt asked my to stop by here. The store smelled horrible. Like rotten... Service was not great either. I was asking for a certain type of root, noodles and veggies. I felt like they were just yelling at me where to check. I know some people just talk loud and we're never taught to use their inside voice. I have been shopping at People Market for over a decade. In general, the service is just average. Typical Asian store that does not greet people unless you are their friends. There were two incidents that happened to me in the last few years. One was probably 3 years ago. I bought longans from them. They are prepackaged and by weight. When I got home and opened it, under the longans were all twigs. I felt cheated. The second incident happened a few days ago. They have a single line policy since the pandemic started. I was in line waiting for an open register. A customer holding 2 bags of pork bones was asking one of the workers to grab her another off the shelve. In doing so, the worker and her just cut in front of me. I walked up to the register that rang her (manager) and told her that her employee and that customer just cut in line. Even though the manager said, sorry, it sounded like she didn't care and just wanted to rush me out. read more

Been going to this store a lot because it's close to my house but one thing I want to addres because I seen a lot of this happening. Store manager need to tell cashier to stop letting other customers cut in line. Customers don't even be in line but at the end of the register and stood there for the cashier to ring up whatever customer they have and then cut to pay for whatever they have on hand. 5 Stars for the live seafood. This is my go to for live crabs during dungeness crab season. The customer service is always friendly even with the occasional language barrier. The picture is from 12/2014 (what happened to those low prices!) The relatively new area for hot foods is great as well. It's always fun to pick up something to nibble on back home while preparing some tasty crabs. I like that it;s not right in the thick of the little Saigon area of Stockton Blvd. where the traffic can get so congested on the weekends. Open until 11:00! read more

This place have the most poor customer service ever. I do not know if people here have been trained or not. I am going to grocery as I am a home care provider. So I used EBT card to buy foods for my subscriber. They are cheated because they even charge bags for it. The workers are obnoxious as ever. Do they have any manners at all? Management is a joke they are probably looking to file bankruptcy in the near future. I am surprised IRS haven't been auditing their business. Took my two kids to the supermarket today. Before entering, they have a security guard that stands out side telling everyone to wear masks before entering the store. Sure that's the new rule so I made sure I had my masks. I noticed all the carts that were put back were not wiped down so I asked the cashier if they regular wipe down their carts and baskets. She said NO! Luckily I always carry wipes in the car so that was not a problem. But to enforce masks and not wipe down your carts after every use, aren't you breaking the law regardless if we wear mask or not? You're not abiding to safe practices to keep your customers safe but you want us to wear masks like it's going to keep us or anyone else from getting sick. These Asians supermarkets every single one of them do not wipe down their carts. Who do I call to report this? read more

I read an article that if places don't follow social distancing protocol of 6 feet, they can be reported by call 311, Sacramento Code Enforcement. This place has not been following social distancing protocol. Customers stand wherever they want on the checkout line. They don't follow the blue painters tape that's on the ground. Checkout lanes are too close together. Its within 3 feet of each other. They shouldn't be opening 2 checkout lanes next to each other since customers are placed back to back. I will be calling to report this place. It's frustrating and I don't plan to come here anymore. Masks doesn't protect you so much if you are not social distancing. read more

This is the first Asian market I go to when I need something. I like shopping here and like that I can support a smaller grocery store instead of big ones like 99 Ranch and SF. It has that homey feel of shopping at your local neighborhood market. Shopping here is much more calm and relaxing instead of the other stores where there are lots of people and constant beeping of the scanners at the register. This store is small, but it is pretty clean. Unfortunately, them being smaller means that they have less room for products so compared to the larger stores, they have less variety. Sometimes I have to go elsewhere when I need something more specific. Prices are fair and are cheaper than 99 Ranch most of the time. I remember the prices being cheaper than SF as well when they first opened but haven't checked since. Not as many people shop here so their produce can sometimes stay out longer and aren't as fresh. In my experience with all grocery stores, you have to check the expiry dates on everything you buy because they sometimes still leave old stuff on the shelves or freezers and this market is no exception. The owner used to hang around often when the place first opened but I haven't seen her in a long time. When she was there she was very helpful in trying to find something I needed and was open to suggestions on what products to carry at the store. I once needed roasted peanuts but they only carried raw peanuts so she offered to roast them for free! Also, check out their fresh wonton noodles! Best wonton noodles to cook with that I have found in the Sacramento area! *** Oh, and it's great that they are open until 11PM. If I ever need anything in the middle of the night I know I can always run out to People Supermarket :) I went out there once near closing time and was afraid that it was going to be empty and creepy but it wasn't. *** EDIT I just want to update that ever since the Chinese restaurant next to the grocery closed down and was replaced with a pho restaurant, their fresh wonton noodles are no longer very good. read more

I like coming to People Supermarket because it has everything I need. While the store might not be as big as the other supermarkets along Stockton Blvd, it certainly has everything I need at a reasonable cost. Another huge plus about this supermarket is that it's opened until 11 p.m. It's never crowded like the other supermarkets, and the lines move at a surprisingly fast pace. All their produce, seafood, and meat (fresh or uncooked) are all fresh. The only complaint I have is the parking lot. It's small. Granted, the supermarket is not that big in itself, and it's not like there's never a parking spot, but the fact that it's a small parking lot and then you add terrible drivers..that's definitely not the business. read more

They were out of the chicken part that my bf was looking for, so we ended up having to make another trip to Savemart after. We did end up buying other necessities here. I bought a loaf of bread to create a honey brick toast. There were some bags that had mold growing inside.. that scared me because if I didn't pay close attention, I would have purchased it without thinking twice. I do like the small bakery section off on the side, I did not get to explore too long though.
