As I was downtown walking around Eastern Market a few weeks ago; I saw a line with people walking away with these humongous sausages. I knew that I wanted to try it at that point, so I stepped right in line! As I walked up to order, I saw that I wanted to order some pierogis! I order the Spinach and Artichoke; Potato and Farmers Cheese, and Corned Beef and Swiss pierogis! The liked the Potato and Cheese the best, but all were good. I also ordered a sausage! Very good! I ordered it plain (I know, know. What's the point without the sauerkraut, lol)... I definitely will return whenever I'm back at the Eastern Market! Very friendly and fun staff, great food, and great prices!

Probably the most poppin' food stall at Eastern Market. Friends had recommended their pierogis so we decided to stop by on a Saturday afternoon. We got a Polish plate with a regular sausage and 4 different pierogis (corned beef, spinach and artichoke, jalapeño popper, and potato and cheese). The food was good - the sausage was hot and fresh and we really enjoyed the sauerkraut topping. The corned beef pierogi was definitely the best one, followed by the potato. The spinach and jalapeño ones tasted...accurate, for lack of a better word. I think I'd rather eat a regular jalapeño popper. Overall I thought it was a good but expensive for what it was.

Not good not bad just average, I was really looking forward to the corned beef and Swiss well the Swiss was missing. When I first ordered they gave me the wrong ones they gave me the cheese and potato, I walked back over and they corrected it with no problem. So the customer service is really good at fixing a problems. They let me keep the potato and cheese and those were just average. The corned beef was supposed to have Swiss but didn't, and the taste was nothing to be exciting about. Only good point was the side of kraut and that was not what I was there for. I do see great ratings by other yelpers I just hope today was a off day. I probably will not try again.

Left to right: spinach and artichoke, mushroom, potato and cheese

I should've looked at the inside pictures more. My bad. :( The woman that runs a shop is sweet and friendly and helpful. She does events for the local kids and veterans. She also has classes for date nights and other events, for anyone that wants to learn how to make pierogi. The pierogi are all frozen, order and pay at the front counter. All orders are bagged. A small sheet of paper to give instructions on how to cook the pierogies in a pan with some butter. Suggested to eat with some sautéed onions and or sour cream for some. I got the chicken pot pie, the mushroom and mozzarella, cheddar, the potato and garlic, sauerkraut and mushroom, sauerkraut and onion. $87.04 The chicken pot pie comes with gravy and some crumbs to put on top. They have 25 different flavors, however, they were out of many and sold out , especof all the extra fellas. We cooked up the pierogi, sautéed some onions, kielbasa, kraut. We ate the potato and mushroom and mozzarella pierogi with the onions, cream cheese or sour cream. Pierogi took about 6-8 minutes on medium heat on the stovetop to brown some. The mushroom wasn't my favorite, as the mushrooms would gush out some water from it, was a rather unexpected experience, not for me. The mushroom and cheese were decent. The kraut and onion and the chicken pot pie fell apart somewhat during the cooking and flipping for us. The potatoes were as expected, not too bad.

Homemade pierogies, Glumpki (soelling?), including the sauce. Awesome sauerkraut and two types of sausage, although I do prefer the smoked, both go great when dipped into a horseradish mustard sauce that they give to us upon request. I'm not a big potato pancake person, but it was homemade and prepared correctly. I also grabbed a side salad and it's not cheap iceberg salad, rather a nice variety of greens. They even catered to me when I asked for extra dressing because I like to drown my salad! I got a couple of Polish beers and they have a nice bourbon selection. My wife wasn't feeling Polish food, so she got the pork chops, which smelled great and she said were delicious. Two large cuts, right off the grill, and a bunch of sides. No complaints! The waitress was very accommodating and service was perfect. It was pretty busy in there, but she handled all of the tables and we never felt like we had to wait for anything. Cool atmosphere on the inside and plenty of parking, just a nice place to hang out and have dinner, stress free. They also have several TVs so if there's a game on, you'll be able to watch it. Also a long bar with locals if you want to hang out and have some company.

Now The Bad...The polish plate was not good at all. The best part was the boiled potatoes. The golabki (stuffed cabbage) had no flavor and cheap spaghetti sauce was used instead of traditional tomato sauce. The fresh and smoked sausage, sauerkraut, and pierogi had no seasoning and was extremely bland. The wife ordered the polish sliders, and she couldn't even finish one. The best part of her dinner was the french fries. Even the tap beer we ordered tasted skunked. If you're looking for good polish food I suggest you make the trip to Hamtramck.

Since my uncle was in town visiting from Washington state and hasn't had home cooked Polish food in a long time we decided to have a mini family reunion here. Wawel Royal Castle is part of the Polish Cultural Center. They have a separate dining area but they also can host different events. The evening we were there, a Sunday, they had ballroom dancing going on in the hall part. We were quickly seated and our waitress was a young lady who was new and had never made a Cosmopolitan or a dirty martini. She asked us to be patient while she attempted to try. She did a great job! We started with the pierogi platter for the table. It came on a charcuterie board and there was 16 pierogis. Talk about hitting the pierogi jackpot! These were melt in your mouth delicious. We all tried combo plates for our main entrée. Everything from the city chicken to the glabki (stuffed cabbage) was excellent. They did not have fresh sausage but did have smoked sausage. That was the only thing that wasn't that great. It tasted like Ekrich. Other than that the food and the service was fantastic. Very authentic and reasonably priced. The Aperol spritz was good, but pricey at $14.00. My bourbon was inexpensive at $8.00 however ist was a very small pour. The "Polish Feast" was a major disappointment. The serving was large enough for two but the pork cutlet and potato pancake were both almost burnt. I like sour cream on perogies but no waiters were available to ask for some. We will not be back.
