Car care is always going to be subjective and each experience is going to a little different. I took my car in because I was having a battery issue. I knew it was the battery after doing some research. The nice thing was they didn't try to upsell me on a lengthy inspection or anything else. The tech that I spoke with was very knowledgeable and let me know about some damage to my rotors didn't try toto press me but took the time to show me what he was talking about. Battery, rear brakes and rotors it was a very fair deal. They treat you like a human not a paycheck. I will use these guys again. I will say the only issue I had with them was that if you call and you get someone that answers that clearly is not from here hang up and try again. My engine light came on, so I made an appointment with the South Cooper location for 130. I showed up at 1:27, waited for 15 minutes before anyone spoke to me or came out to the desk. I told him I a 130 appointment and he said, "no we aren't taking any more appointments today". I said no I already have an appointmen. He said yes, but I don't have any techs who can help you because I have one guy doing a job that has to be done today and it's going to take him 13 hours and another guy is working on another car. I asked him "what good is an appointment if you're not going to keep it?" He said, " I don't know." I felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode! My question to Pep Boys is if they can't take any more people then why aren't they blocking out those hours so nobody else can make an appointment? Because the exact same thing happened to the girl who was in front of me so the app lets you schedule an appointment and you don't find out that you won't have that honored until you show up. read more

5/4/26 I came in to get an oil change like I normally do. I was told to schedule an appointment. Which I did for 5/5/26. I get to my appointment time, and I was told I would have to wait 4 hours because other cars got dropped off that didn't have an appointment. The attended Chris told me essentially it doesn't not matter if you have an appointment, you will have to wait. I politely asked, what is the use of scheduling an appointment if drop offs come first? I recently had some work done at Pep Boys Mansfield to grt my check engine light off. I replaced 3 parts buying my own parts but the install was still under warranty. They recently closed the Mansfield location so I came to this location when the engine light came back on about 5 months later. Well it was reading the same code as before and I figured this location would honor Mansfield location turns out they didn't they tried to have me replace and install brand new parts for the parts I already purchased before. On top of that I would have to pay for labor so not only was they not honoring the other location warranty they was going to make me buy all new parts. Also this is the first shop I have been to thay doesnt waive the diagnostic if you do the work there. Bottom line be sure you know what you want when you go here because they will try ro get as much money out of you as possible. And will male any excuse not to honor warranties. read more

Their service was amazing. We had a bad alignment attempt done somewhere else. Front wheel looked crooked and the steering was loose. Brought to Pep Boys 2710 S Cooper st. The walked me through personally and visually and showed us all the problems. Ram truck had hit a bad pothole in Mexico. Isreal and other great mechanics were above and beyond in their ability to bring the truck back to feeling like new. The cost was spot on, no extras and a really great deal. I really appreciated their willingness to answer all my question. This will always be my go to shop. read more

The pricing is absolutely insane, you'd think they're running a scam at this location. $500 for front & rear pad change, no flush or anything more. Just pads. The office alone screams filth & laziness, the guy at the front couldn't care less to help you out, the only goal is to get you out of his face asap. I asked about the pricing & all he had to say was "well that's the price. Yup." At first I had agreed to just having the front pads replaced since those were the ones with the wear indicator squealing. Still was at $230+. The tech that drove my truck into the shop, turned my truck on & revved it after he started it as if it was his truck to do so in. I don't appreciate the disrespect. Luckily, I forgot to bring my wheel lock, so I was able to leave & never come back. As I was driving off I heard the techs talking since I had my windows down, & the (larger) tech said "let me guess, too expensive?" to the other tech. When I got home, I realized there were oily & greasy hand prints on my hood & fenders. I really didn't appreciate the disrespect. I expected more from Pep Boys, it was my first & last experience with them. I wanna thank the guy in the office & the techs for showing me exactly why I shouldn't have any of my vehicles serviced there. They patched a flat for a family while I was there, I can only imagine how much they taxed the poor dad. read more

This Pep Boys is terrible!! Find some where else to get your vehicle worked on. I thought Pep Boys was a reputable place to get good service but apparently not. I brought my vehicle in for an alignment and it was done incorrectly. When I brought my vehicle back for it to be redone, they were saying that guy doing alignments was a new guy and I needed to come in when their "vet" was available. I'm a busy man, I don't have time to keep coming back and forth to Pep Boys hoping that the right guy is there or not. When I eventually found the time to come back, the store manager, Israel tried to lie to me in my face. The bad alignment caused my tires to wear on 1 side, the side where the alignment was done incorrectly. My tires are 22 inch Vogues priced at $525 per tire. 1 tire is CLEARLY worn down to the point where it's almost slick but he's trying to tell me to my face while comparing both tires that they are worn evenly. My vehicle is pulling hard to 1 side and it shows in the tread-wear of my tire. That's what happens when an alignment is done incorrectly. He's attempting to weasel his way out of getting my tire replaced. Do not come to this Pep Boys or maybe even any Pep Boys for that matter, they exhibit a great level of ineptitude. Update: After the realignment, the alignment was still done incorrectly and Israel brought my car back to me saying that I have a bad wheel bearing. Which is a lie, all my parts are brand new in my front end. This guy is a scum bag and has a condescending demeanor. I'm going to speak with the District Manager and revisit this post! read more

Pep Boys - Passenger side (bad alignment side) - Auto Repair Near Me - Arlington, Texas

I don't know what's changed, but I used to get decent service from Pep Boys. Recently my truck has been running hot. I took it to another shop and they didn't do much to help, so I ended up back here. They've since had it twice now for about a week each time. In the 9 years I've had this thing, the engine temp has been rock solid just before the midline. The high speed radiator fan would come on when the external temp was 95°. Recently though, it has started overheating. The pic below is the temp gauge today when it's 70°outside and the radiator fan is running hard too. I can't believe it's this hard to fix. **Edit** Let me add some more detail. Another shop got first crack at fixing it. They replaced the thermostat for $300. The initial problem was no can heat. After their 'repair', it started overheating. So, I went to Pep Boys. They replaced a radiator hose and said I needed a new battery. I was out the door for $600. I live a mile from the store. It started overheating on the way home. I turned around and took it back. We were going to Europe, so they had it over a week. All they said they did was drive it around. They said there must have been an air bunker in the system because it was fine. We returned and I picked the truck up. It started overheating again on the way home. Remember, I'm one mile away. When I called this time, I was told that if the gauge wasn't in the red then I was fine. They also said the high speed radiator fan coming on when the external temp is only 60° was fine too. For nine years, the temp gauge has been rock steady at just below the midpoint and the fan doesn't come on unless the outside temp is 95° I found another shop with 230 five star reviews. I took it to them at 8:30 on Monday. At 9:30, they called and said they needed to replace the thermostat and water pump. They used Ford parts and were done at 2:30. They said the thermostat the other shop used was junk. Out the door, their price was was $450. That's half of what I had already paid other shysters to do the same work. I'd like my money back Pep Boys. Your folks are incompetent and crooked. I paid idiots $900 to do was another shop did in one day for $450. read more

July 24 Visited local Pep Boys for service, (considering I purchased four tires 7/13/2020) but due to its closure I was directed half a mile down the road. Just last week I had come in for the rear tire to get plugged and I was charged $22.16. I didn't question it because I assumed it was the fee. Came in almost three weeks for the same tire, this time I was aware that I had warranty and wanted to get it serviced. Immediately, upon arrival I was greeted by Carrie and then further assisted by Marcus. I asked about the coverage and he indicated I had to have the physical copy of the receipt in order to get it serviced. I informed him I didn't have it, but I assured him that I purchased the tires from the location down the street. He said there is no one there so how can I prove your purchase or warranty without the receipt. Once it was confirmed that they were in fact Pep Boy tires, he then said the warranty information is on the hard drive at the other Cooper location that is closed. So, without it they couldn't even look at it. I just wanted to get my tire plugged and/or replaced if need be... I asked for information that should be readily available. I was asking for options for information that he couldn't provide and I was met with a lack of concern or respect. Then, Bárbaro, a service tech, confirmed that the tire was in fact under warranty. Carrie and Marcus all but said, no you are wrong. At this point I have no other option, he continued to say he wasn't trying to be a road block, but he certainly was not trying to help. I asked for the corporate number just get guidance and help. His suggestion: look on Google and sat there and offered no assistance. The customer service is horrible. Marcus is extremely rude and very sarcastic and Carrie matched his attitude. Marcus came to work to do no work. It was disappointing. read more

I would not have selected 1 star for this location but, it made me! The manager at this location was awful! I have never had such terrible customer service. I purchased 4 brand new Cooper tires at Pep Boys (not this location) on 8/24/24 and my tire went flat yesterday and was unrepairable. Spoke to Salas and he informed me that because I did not purchase roadside hazard assistance (lesson learned) all though my tires were less than 2 months old he could not work with me to purchase a new tire. His tone was an indication I annoyed him specifically when he sighed as if I was on his nerves and he had no time for me. I asked if we could contact Cooper tires and he stated they would not be able to help. He did not make any attempts to provide friendly customer service. I contacted Cooper tire customer service myself and they were willing to pay 75% of the cost for a new tire!!! The Cooper customer service rep stayed on the line with me until she found another location to purchase the tire. I was able to go to another Pep Boys location and had the best service ever. Bought one tire. Technician had trouble balancing it and complained that 2nd machine was broken and this one was giving him trouble. Supervisor said he had the wrong tire width entered. Got the tire on and couldn't program the pressure sensor in the car. Sent me to Collins location. Turns out it was the wrong sensor. Take the tire off, order and install new sensor, rebalance, and re-install. Bad all the way around. And their clock in the waiting room doesn't work. Lost 8 hours for 1 tire. read more

I went to get 4 shocks installed in my 2001 Nissan Xterra. Within 3 months of having the new shocks the front driver side shock broke in half. So I still had warranty so it got replaced for free. 2 months later passenger front side shock came undone where the shock bolted down to the frame. The bolt unscrewed itself so took it back and they Re-threaded it. 4 months later my front shocks gave out completely so I took it back to see why they both gave out. Manager and his technician told me that my Xterra had to be lifted in order for my shocks not to give out. When I first purchased the new 4 shocks this excuse I would say was never brought up to my attention that I had to lift my Xterra for my shocks to work properly. so I agreed and they lifted my Xterra but it was not leveled so the left side of my Xterra which is the driver side leans to the left which is lower than the passenger side. After almost $1000 spent they left my Xterra on leveled. I still have all the receipts of what I paid I just wish they would've made it correct. Very poor service and very poor excuses of the technicians and manager to claim that the Xterra had to be lifted and they didn't even do it correctly. They ended up saying that my frame was bent and that I had to take it to a collision specialist. So I did and my frame is not bent I've had this vehicle since 2016 and not once have they ever said that my truck had to be lifted nor have I ever had problems with shocks until I went to Pep Boys. read more

Cheers to the service team!!! My husband walked outside to water only to notice that there was a screw in my one of my tires. He quickly runs down the street to a tire shop only to find that they are closed. Comes back home all worried cause I go to work at 5 am and at that time there are no service shops open. I google tire shops and Pep lol Boys shows there close at 8. I called the Collins location and no one ever answered. So I called the Cooper location and get an answer right away. I ask them if there are still open and he asks me yes what kind of service do you need. I told him I have a nail in my tire. And he tells me if I can get here in the next 15 minutes they would wait and take care of us. So my husband quickly runs out the door and made it with like 3 minutes to spare. The took care of the tire with full service. So now hubby doesn't have to worry about me waking up to a flat or being stranded on the highway on my way to work with a flat! I needed a new car battery so I stopped by the S. Cooper Pep Boys for some help. I talked to an employee and he helped me select a car battery that had a 3-year life and was within my price range. Everything was hunky-dory until checkout: Employee: "That will be $130, ma'am." Me: "Ok" *opens purse to fetch wallet" Employee: "Oops! Sorry, ma'am. There is a $170 installation fee because your battery is in a hard-to-reach spot, making access to the battery difficult. It will be $300." Say, what? I took my business down the street. P.S. After waiting 20 mins without them even acknowledging me I got fed up and started calling around to other mechanics. My dad is a mechanic and he always told me to take my car to Pep Boys for service, so when my check engine light came on, I brought it in. At first everything was fine, the guy at the counter was polite and helpful, and I told him I just wanted to know what the problem was, i.e., hook up a code reader and tell me what it said. There was a wait, so I came back a few hours later, and they had my car up on the lift. The guy tells me 1) the oil is completely empty, 2) they want to pull out the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump and pressure sensor, 3) my wheel bearings are bad and my suspension basically needs to be completely replaced, and all of this is going to cost hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars. That seemed fishy, cos my dad's suggested fix was some Vaseline around the gas cap and resetting the computer, so I asked them to change the oil and nothing else. That cost me $20, and the "engine diagnostic" cost $90. After they refilled the oil, the check engine light went off. So the next day I took the car to the dealership service center, and they did a full evaluation. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the wheel bearings, the suspension, or anything else, but I did need new brakes (which I know was true, because my dad told me a few months before that I needed to replace them soon). That evaluation was completely free. So basically the Pep Boys service people charged me almost $100 just to tell me there was a bunch of stuff wrong that wasn't actually wrong. He basically told me that they don't honor appointments made online. So if you want anything done there call... Better yet just go somewhere else and don't waste your time... UPDATE: the service manager at the location contacted me to apologize for the situation and double booking and he offered me a free oil change coupon. He seemed genuine and wanted to listen to what happened, that is why I changed my rating. I would still advise that if you schedule something online, call to verify your appointment. read more

So why was there an appointment @ 6 available? He tells me these things like it's no big deal. To have two tires installed this is a bad deal. 4 & 1/2 stars for their friendly manners and attitude, but 3 stars for their thoroughness and quality of work. Don't get me wrong, I'm convinced that they'll get the job done, but you are on your own if you are counting on them to really care for your car and finish your repairs seamlessly. Made an online 3 P.M. appointment with them this past Friday for battery servicing, and signed up for the text/email alert, however, I never received any notifications. I assumed they were busy, but I swung by the shop anyways, and it turned out that they were a little backed up and rescheduled me at 5 P.M. I was assured that notifications will be sent to me the second time around, but once again, nothing---I would advice people to either make appointments by call or go in person to schedule. As for the actual repair; they completed it pretty swiftly. I had a bad battery that kept corroding on me, and it was pretty bad; some of the battery related components, like the +/- terminal pieces, and the metal arms (along with their nuts and bolts) that secured them were covered up in the secreted corrosion salts. The guy recommended that I buy a new battery and gave me a list of what was available. He was pretty straight forward with his diagnosis, which I liked. I wound up buying a ~$130 Bosch battery plus agreeing to let them clean up the corrosion, totaling about $170. After they returned the car to me, I popped the hood in my garage and was rather disappointed. Sure they stuffed the new battery in there no problem, but they've essentially left all the corrosion right where they were. There were traces of liquid/solvents left around the battery, so perhaps they tried to rinse the corrosion off, but man, the might as well have not. I had to take out the battery myself and scrape and polish off the corrosion for the next two hours. In conclusion, what they did was not a job well done; sure it was my fault for having neglected the state of my old battery, but if you say you are going to clean off the corrosion, it is only right that you stand by your words. I wouldn't have minded at all if they realized it'd take a little more money and requested for me to pay more, that would have been completely understandable. But leaving a brand new battery in the of company corroded terminal pieces (which were only superficial damage), that could have perpetuated the corrosion problem, if not get in the way of good conductivity down the recent future. Up the integrity of your mechanics, Pepboys. read more

Tried to charge me for towing through pep boys even though my car was towed through my roadside assistance and covered by car insurance. Got a huge nail stuck in my tire and was thinking I needed it replaced. So I made a sameday online appointment for 7:00 p.m. I get there about 30 min. early and see about 2 customers already having there cars worked on. I let the service advisor Dustin know i'm early no worries but instead of making me wait he jumps all over it and repairs my tire instead of telling me i'm going to need a new one. He took the time to check it out and repaired it very quick. The service manager John Marchlinski was great. Made sure I was completely satisfied with my service before I left out of his shop. Don't trust them. Made an appointment for a transmission fluid change (not flush) and verified that Toyota T-IV fluid had to be used since the Vibe has a Toyota transmission. They said it wouldn't be a problem. Arrived for my appointment and wanted to verify it is for a change only, not a flush, and they will use T-IV fluid. The guy said he had to check. A few minutes later he comes bringing this generic Castrol fluid to me. I told him it has to be T-IV and when I made the appointment it wouldn't be a problem. He said if I wanted Toyota T-IV I'd have to go to Toyota. Wasted my time with them. Called AAMCO transmission in Arlington. They have the T-IV in stock and even gave me advice about the error code. When it comes to your transmission, trust people who do it for a living. Lesson learned. read more

This Pep Boys has great customer service! My headlight was out and after replacing that within 15 minutes of me being there, the mechanic found my license lights were out as well. I was a walk-in so it took about 30 minutes for them to finish my services but I am so pleased. I initially went to the Firestone by the Grand Prairie Outlets, and they tried to charge me $260+ to repair my headlights only. I didn't know my license light was out at the time, so I'm assuming it would have been much more. My total came out to just under $30 at Pep Boys. I am thankful to Bill and the other mechanic for providing great service and being honest. read more

They quoted a ridiculous price and added all sorts of stuff didn't ask for or need, and then everyone working in the cashier/attendant area, acted rude and I watched an employee talk on the phone for a good 5 min, while I waited at the counter! I had the rotors on my front brakes resurface and pads replaced, I had the rear rotors replaced and pads replaced, 1500 miles later they are still squealing. I brought my van back to Pep Boys only to be told the front rotors should be replaced now after 1500 miles. The problem is my 2008 Van with only 58,000 miles and 1500 miles on the resurfaced front rotors is a month past the 6 month warranty...again with only 1500 miles. Pep Boys will not honor the 6000 mile warranty and are insisting the 1500 miles on the brakes means nothing. Sean, the guy manning the service desk should have some training in honor and customer loyalty. If I could give this Pep Boys negative "stars" I would! I only gave 1 star as to post this review requires me to select at least one star. read more

I drive company vehicles so I have dealt with several automotive repair companies. This one blows the rest out of the water. They're fast, they're friendly, they're responsive to your needs they're just overall amazing. Honestly, the negative reviews I've read seem to be from those who don't understand that they're dealing with proffessional, certified mechanics here. If you want your transmission replaced and expect it to be done in an hour then, yes, go somewhere else because the guys here are thurough and will make sure its done correctly the first time. They want to make sure you will be safe driving home. I was really dissapointed to see some of the negative reviews because I have watched the guys bend over backwards for some customers even though the work load in front of them seems near impossible. John always greets me with a smile and takes care of me and I never question the work Jacob does with my car. I will never go anywhere else. read more
