Unfortunately, I have to agree with every post that everyone else has put on here at this Pep Boy's location & especially, the auto service mgr. Every time I have gone in there, he has been extremely rude and with just a few exceptions, so have all of the other employees in there. In fact, it appears to me that rudeness is a "quality" that Pep Boy's values in their employees and it must be a prerequisite for being hired on there. Going in there is ALWAYS an unpleasant experience & one that I try to avoid at all costs. What I cannot understand is this........With all of these negative reviews, why hasn't the regional or National management taken any real notice of these valid customer concerns & implemented changes with this store??????? I brought my truck to Pep Boys at 9704 Airline Hwy. on 8/19/2014 to have a new battery installed. My wife and I have had our vehicles serviced there several times in the past, and have always been satisfied with the quality of service we have received. Since it was going to take about an hour and a half before my truck would be ready, my wife picked me up. We returned around 8:45 P.M. to pick up my truck after I was called and was told it was ready. When I arrived at Pep Boys to drop my truck off, I parked it on the left side of the building near the service bays. When my wife and I returned to pick it up, however, I was disgusted to find that my truck had been moved to a handicapped parking space directly in front of the store. I asked an employee inside why my truck had been moved to a handicapped space when I don't have a handicapped license plate or hang tag. His response was, "It's just what we do; we always park people's cars there before they pick them up," and told me not to worry about it. I have NEVER parked my vehicle illegally in a handicapped space, and never will. I have older relatives who have had to rely on handicapped parking, and it always angers me when I see people who are so inconsiderate that they would take handicapped spots from the people who truly need them. To have someone else leave my vehicle parked illegally in a handicapped space for me to possibly receive a ticket - or worse, have my truck booted or towed - is COMPLETELY unacceptable. What's worse is that the employee couldn't even give me a valid reason (of which there isn't any) as to why my truck was parked there. The store was closing in 15 minutes when I arrived, and the parking lot was virtually empty. There were plenty of other legal parking spots to choose from. Parking illegally in a handicapped space sends a clear message about the character of the owner of the vehicle (or lack thereof). It is a message that I had never sent until I unknowingly did so with my vehicle last night, simply by entrusting it to the Pep Boys employees for a couple of hours. While I will no longer be doing any business with Pep Boys, I also wanted to make others aware of what is apparently standard procedure at this particular location. What is being done is not only illegal, but also immoral and unethical, and whoever put that "policy" in place needs to be held accountable for his or her actions. read more

My advice to anyone needing car repair should just keep driving! This place has the WORST customer service! They said they repaired my car but 1 day later it was even worse. Come to find out they used the wrong parts on it and lied about other repairs. That makes them nothing but fraudulent. read more

Nonetheless went in for oil change to find out service technician leaves at 5pm. RESPONSE from Ervin- ''We have No evening workers'' You must be leaving vehicle for services for tomorrow. I was stunned! I rented a Budget truck on line two weeks ago that was to be picked up at this location, but when I arrived at the appointed day and time, the Pep Boys employee who was in charge of these rentals told me that she had "cancelled" our reservation because they did not have the truck, that we could not speak to a manager because a manager was not physically present, and that she would not call a manager. It was moving day, and I was stuck to search for a truck somewhere else at the last minute. Today I was looking at my credit card statement on line and discovered that Budget had charged me a $50 no show fee. When I called Budget's customer service line, they prompty resolved the issue, so I believe that Pep Boys is for all of this. read more

I experienced first hand why this Pep Boys has such a low rating and rightly so! Their customer service is awful! I haven't been to a Pep Boys for over 15 years because of a horrible experience my father and I had with an employee, but all is forgotten and I decided to give the service chain another chance. I can't emphasize enough how horrible the customer service here is and I don't plan on returning to another Pep Boys for at least another 15 years if they are still open for business! Your employees need to be trained on assisting your customers before Pep Boys does not have enough customers to stay in business. There is no excuse! Took my car in to get the AC checked with the "free check" that was offered online. I pulled up and one of the mechanics came up to my car and asked what the issue was. I told him what was happening with the AC and he said to go inside and ask for him. I went inside and spoke with a female and she said that the "free check" wasn't really offered and I would need to pay over $40.00. After talking back and forth, I agreed to pay, even though it should have been free. They ran the diagnostic test and said I needed 8 oz of freon. I then said "ok, that's not too bad" so then she went back out to talk with him and all of a sudden they came up with $2400 worth of repairs. My car is a 2013 with 70k miles. It is well taken care of so I know it doesn't need that much done. It was a complete scam and they were trying to get me to pay a lot of money when it only needed freon. It is the most unethical place I've ever been. To think they were just trying to take advantage of me is very upsetting. When I explained that I was a broke college kid, all of a sudden she said that's what she told him. That I would not be able to afford that and yet he still claimed all of these repairs were necessary. It's very unfortunate that it is so hard to find ethical employees. Yes it's true- this place is terrible. Got a car battery here less than 2 years ago, warranty and all. This morning rushing to work and battery is dead. Needed a jump to get to work. Went here as soon as I got off of work with paperwork and all to get a new battery. Oh too bad ma'am we are too busy to help you get a car battery today. Wtf? It's at least and hour and a half before closing and you can't get me a car battery?? Seriously? How long does that take really?? I have to work every day for the next 3 weeks, I don't have time for this crap. Too bad for me and my over priced warranty. Too bad for me that I really have to have a working car battery too. Decided to cut my losses. Despite the fact that I should have been able to get a new battery no charge with the warranty. I went down the street. Sure enough, I walked into auto zone and they helped me out right away. Auto zone tested my battery -- definitely dead-- popped in a new one and I was on my way in no time. Terrible! My daughter was driving from Louisiana to Texas when her low tire pressure light came on. Not sure how to put air in the tire or how much, stopped at Pep Boys and asked for help. Where to begin... How can this place be open? I just really do not understand how they stay in positive cash flow. I called ahead to verify they had time to fix a leak in a tire. I had purchased these last year despite my reservations about the service at the time and purchased the road hazard. So, I get there and there is 1 guy working his ass off trying to help people. The line has 3 people in it and the phone is going non stop. PepBoys must only have 1 employee. Great business model. Older lady in front of me was getting scammed with the buy 3 tires get 1 free deal. She saw the scam for what it was, gave them a piece of her mind and left. Finally my turn! Nope, more phone calls. 25 minutes of line waiting (half way in to my lunch break) and I am told that I would have to leave my vehicle and it would take 2+ hours. Needless to say that did not happen. Biggest mistake I made was buying tires from this company. Second was to buy the road hazard (I will never be going back) and third was going back for tire service. Nothing Peppy about Pep Boys. Had an appointment for 10:00 am to get a tire changed. Showed up at 10:00 but now it's 1:30, I am still here waiting. That's almost 4 hours just to get a tire changed. Also, they were unable to pull up warranty records from another store - so if you need warranty work, unless you bought your tire at this location, you need to bring the receipt with you. read more

Aweful came in for simple oil change and 3 hour wait. Cashier very rude and difficult to understand. Many employees present however only one to work on cars. The cashier has no respect for customers or their time she seems to be more interested in her soap opera that she is watching in the wait room. Made an appt for 10 a.m. today to get four tires. I was there early and was told my car would be serviced next since I had an appt, but after three cars were put ahead of me (without appts) and after waiting for over an hour, I asked for my keys back and left. Why make an appt if management decides it is going to be a first come, first serve day! And, yes, management made that call. I spoke with another customer whose car was being serviced and she said she overheard the manager tell the staff to take her car next instead of mine since she had been there longer, even though she didn't have an appt. I've used Pep Boys in another state and received great service and really great tires. Obviously, I'd choose Pep Boys for my new tires here in Baton Rouge. I went in to get some pricing options for tires and setup a time to have them placed on my car. The service manager was more concerned with eating his lunch than assisting a customer. He was very dry with his responses to my questions. He gave me the impression that he wanted me to leave so that he could eat his lunch. That wasn't going to happen because I walked into that store with the intent on paying over a thousand dollars for four new TIRES. You will assist me. He proceeds to give me a print out of a price quote of a tire brand I've never heard of. I asked him if we could discuss other tire brand options. He told me, "You can go home and look online then come back to us." This can't be Pep Boys' policy, right? What about the customers who doesn't have internet access? I proceeded to tell him that I will take my money and business elsewhere to a business who wants it more than you want your lunch and that he needs to work on his customer service skills. This is my first review on here, but this is the WORST business with the WORST STAFF. I had a noon appointment, my car was not seen for an hour waited another two and a half hours. The person who worked there was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. Then when my car was finally done I found out that they did more work than was required, get to my car and i had one hub cap in the floorboard and two missing... turns out the one on the floor board was broken because they do not know what they are doing... and to go along with that NO ONE TOLD ME IT WAS BROKEN!!! So naturally I went home and put it on so now its gone as well. So now i have TWO missing Hub caps. WORST SERVICE. NEVER COMING BACK! read more

April, 2015 I have used Pep Boys in the past and have been pleased. I went to this location for an oil change I had scheduled with them online. When I dropped my car off, they said it would take 45 minutes. I came back 1 hour later, they had not even started. An hour after this they had finished changing the oil and they DID NOT EVEN ROTATE MY TIRES OR PUT AIR IN MY TIRES! It took 20 minutes of standing in line to pay them while multiple employees were sitting around doing nothing. The one person working the service desk was busy answering the phone while 5 people were in the line to pay. When I went back in to inform the person at the desk, they said they were sorry and they will take care of it. The guy behind the desk didn't even move. This is by far the worst service station I have ever had scene and I will never go to any Pep Boys because of the service (or lack of) I received at this location. read more

My husband's car began to overheat when we recently moved to Baton Rouge. We have had great experience with Pep Boys in California so that is where we went here in Baton Rouge. Different state, different service. The first time we took our car in they told us nothing was wrong after a $36 inspection and we drove off and proceeded to break down 2 days later. The second time they said we needed a fluid flush and an oil change so we did that so we followed their recommendation in the amount of $119. The third time they told us that we needed a new radiator in the amount of $456. In California that would be below $400. The customer service rep talked to us about the differences in labor costs from state to state and stated that Louisiana's was higher than Cali....Really? Everything in California is more expensive than Louisiana, thus our move in the first place. Besides the fact that he was rude and ignored my husband for 40 minutes without offering to answer a question he was angry when I suggested that since their evaluation had been erroneous they should put the cost we had already paid toward the cost of the radiator. My husband decided to take the car to another service. Don't go here. Rude, slow and unhelpful. Not like the Pep Boys we had come to trust and respect. read more

This place is a nightmare. Not only did I watch what I believe was a manger get reprimanded by a customer for there being no cashier up front..I watched him talk on the phone, move paperwork around, watch tv....joke around with the other employees walking through, etc. After my mechanic had walked through 2x he asked the guy if he was going to check me out and the guy replied..."she can wait"....10-15 minutes more he finally decided to ring me up. I go outside and my truck has been unlocked..both doors the whole time and the steering wheel is pulled down as far as it will go. It wasn't until I got home that we realized that they had taken the larger mudgrip tires off the back and put them on the front and taken the smaller front tires and put them on the back..the truck is now higher in the front than the back. I will have to pay to have this corrected today at another shop. This store is intentionally giving bad service to white customers! read more
