My car started making a noise yesterday that I quickly realized was rear brakes. I made an appointment for this am. Took my car in and they got it taken care of. Very friendly guy at the front who dealt with a plethora of guests while I was there. Fixed a tired for free, wasn't able to fix something for someone else, gave them advice on where to go. They were busy. My repair took the amount of time he stated in the beginning. Priced reasonably. Good experience and I see they have a couple bad ones. There was no indication that they were anything but helpful and efficient. Also , as a woman it's nice not feel that you need to worry when getting your car fixed. Nice place. :) read more

Seems like they don't really know what their doing. Made an appt for a simple AC evac/charge, they had it for nearly an hour before telling me their machine was broken. Another customer was told she would be waiting for a simple tire repair because the tire guy was late. Won't be back. read more

Rudest, most unprofessional, and misogynistic service from the person at the desk. Told me I'd have to leave the car there for a couple days just for a flat tire. I asked him to sell me a new tire and I'd put it on myself and he was incredibly condescending and refused to sell me a new tire. Made an appointment online for an oil change 3 hours in advance. As a young woman I'm always worried about auto shops trying to oversell to me, but when the associate said I need new tires and I said I just wanted the oil change today, he was respectful and didn't push it further. I don't recommend this particular pep boys in Clawson ! They had my truck for 2 weeks and charged me for parts I didn't need !! The belt they put on popped off 2 days later ! I came in because I heard noise coming from my pulleys ! They changed the serpentine belt (I didn't need this belt ) and the ac belt (didn't need this belt either ). Since I told them I heard squeaking they guessed it was the belts ! All the time it was the pulleys which I knew ! Came back had to make an appointment which I should've been able to get service right away !! Don't come here if you a women !! Bring your uncle , cousin , husband or man with you ladies they will have you waiting for hours for something you already paid for . I always take my car back to the dealership or to pep boys but not this particular pep boys !! They awful here ! Complaining about no help and no workers here ! I was going to write a long rant but all I'm going to say is when I call for a quote for spark plugs (or anything for that matter) and you give me an "out the door price" , don't wait until services are completed to tell me said price didn't include "shop fees and diagnostics". I have been taking my car to this former Goodyear repair shop for over 20 years. The previous owner retired and sold the shop to Pep Boys. The former owner had installed new Monroe struts on the front of my car. After about a year both of them broke. Pep Boys did not have access to former owner's computer records, but warranted around $1,800.00 in repairs at no charge to me. I do not know why the previous Monroe struts failed, but I suspect it is due to the poor quality of the roads in Michigan. Pep Boys seems to be continuing the excellent service provided by the former owner. Much of it I believe is due to the former staff that they retained. They basically treat you like family when you walk into their repair shop. Excellent service! read more

Do NOT go here. Go to one of the 20+ other garages in this area and save yourself the headache. This place is a nightmare. An oil change, simple oil change shouldn't be to much to ask. On a new, well maintained car. No, after an hour and a half they tell me it should be done soon... they said they had to find a filter that fit my car. What is the point of telling you the make and model of my car prior to the appointment? And then I pay and go to my car and the front half is hanging off. They tell me that there was missing screws when I came in... excuse me?!? No, you took this off and didn't replace the screws. I can understand one screw but THREE SCREWS all of a sudden went missing after I drive into the parking lot and before I left. Unreal. I am literally sitting in the waiting room with someone else with a nightmare story. They also blamed it on him. Said that he drove the car in without a panel protecting the wires under his dash.... WHAT?!?! They just gave me a free oil change and if I ever choose to waste two hours of my life again and see if they can redeem themselves we shall see... I feel bad for the guy at the desk. He did the best he could. How this place is in business is beyond me. Go to penzoil. It's across the street $20 cheaper and only takes 10 minutes. This place is one of the worst places I have ever taken my car. I recently got new tires put onto the car and followed up with a recommendation to have the wheels looked at a few days later. They take the tires off at this other shop and inform me that they're already shredded, less than 2 weeks after receiving them. I call up to inquire and see what happened with Pep Boys and was rudely lied to and told that it wasn't them. They told me to do a Google search since it's not their "number". The pep boys site linked that number to that store as well as I called back the number which they called me on and that's inaccurate? I don't believe that for one second, and am disheartened that someone would be so conniving and not take responsibility or provide any sort of transparency but instead try to hide from it.
