Probably the worst experience I have ever had with an automotive shop in my life. I was getting ready to go on a trip and I had just checked my fluids and when I was about to check my tire pressure, my gauge broke on me, so I decided to go to the nearest auto shop to see if they would check my tire pressure. I go to Pep Boys where they've recently sold off their parts section to Advanced Auto Parts and built a wall to separate the two business'. The Pep Boys side looks awful with the floor looking like it's half concrete and half old torn up linoleum. No one was at the counter at the time, but eventually someone came and I asked if someone was available to check my tire pressure. The guy at the counter said to just pull around back and someone would help me. I pull my SUV around the back and waited, and waited, and waited. There were two mechanics sitting basically right in the line of sight of me on their phone doing absolutely nothing, and refused to help. They have chains that I assume are there to keep customer's out of the garage, but none of the chains were up, and I was just about to grab the tire pressure gauge and do it myself. After waiting for what felt like forever, I just left and went to a small tire shop where they found a nail in that was too close to the side to safely repair. They suggested I replace 2 tires since my tires were about 4 years old and they're all terrain BFG tires, so I would've definitely felt a pull if I only changed one. Because this small tire shop took the time to help me, I had never been happier to spend $2000 on a new set of tires. My girlfriend's Lexus was due for tires a few months later, and I spent another $1500 with them as well. Just goes to show that by just helping someone, you could have yourself a potential sale. Now I only go to Pep Boys for their oil change specials, and when they suggest any other service or repairs, I take it elsewhere. read more

Worst service ever. They finished diagnostic on my suv and had me waiting for a hour with no word at all. I approached the register to ask why its been parked for a hour like its done and no communication with me. They didn't even know it was done. I guess customer time means nothing to them. To top it off they had to go get the technician to ask for more details. Complete disregard for customer time. Ridiculous. read more

Service writer Michael was very accommodating since we had to reschedule oil change appointment at the last minute, but the service writer Jeff who checked us in was a little rude, impatient, and not very helpful. Assistant manager is WORTHLESS!!!! Pulled the installer off mounting my tires to finish another job when I was the ONLY person sitting there waiting for my truck!!! Waited OVER 4 hours to get 4 tires mounted and balanced... If it wasn't for the hard working installers working in this 100+ heat I would give 1 star.... NEVER going back again!!! Wasted my ENTIRE day sitting there waiting... This "manager" needs some customer service training!!! Guess that's why he's only the assistant... bought a new battery and changed it on the spot. something blew out, but i didn't know what it was. car didn't start at all. asked a pep boy mechanic and he said they can "check it out" for $89.99, but he thinks most likely it was my car chip which can cost me up to $1500 - $2000 from the dealership. Now i'm a really poor college FEMALE student so there was no way i was just going to automatically tow my car to the dealership. Long story short, i towed my car to my apartment where I had my non-mechanic uncle look at it and found out it was just a blown out fuse which was only $3. pep boys ($89.99 - $2000) vs. non mechnic uncle ($3). WORST AUTO EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD. NOT WORTH THE LOW PRICE. WAITED TWO HOURS -AFTER- MY APPOINTMENT, AND STILL DID NOT COMPLETE MY SIMPLE SERVICE. Probably the most atrocious customer service I have ever encountered. I had an appointment to get my car smogged at 4:00 PM. Arrived on time, waited around the service desk for 15 minutes before I even saw any employees in the lobby. Instead of being helped, I had to call out to a woman who walked right past me and ignored me. Everyone, with the exception of Lee Her, was INCREDIBLY short and rude. They told me it would be over an hour before my car was looked at, despite my previously made appointment. I waited in the lobby for TWO HOURS, noticed my car had not been taken back yet, then asked an employee if I had been forgotten about. They proceeded to explain the smog machine was broken and would not be completing anymore tests that day, which they failed to come into the customer waiting area to tell me! I've been having battery problems with the battery I got from this shop only a few months back for my jeep. I just got a jumpstart from a tow truck, and he advised me to call the Pep Boys I got the battery from so they could take a look since they don't close until 8pm...at least that's what their hours of operation state. So, I called this shop a few minutes before 7pm and told the lady my situation and she told me "well we are closing soon so we don't have time for that today....." Really?? You don't have time an hour before closing to look at my Jeep with the faulty battery from this Pep Boys. Should put on Yelp that the shop actually closes at 7pm then and not 8pm since they don't want to help customers an hour before closing. What a joke! read more

For an appointment that I was early for to find out that they didn't have what I needed. Went to Les Schwab and was saved. My aunt had an issue with her car and she took it to Pep Boys to fix it. They told her it would be a day or so. After a few days, they call her and tell her they made a mistake and messed up the car more and it would be another couple days. This goes on for two weeks. They never offered her a rental car. She has a disabled child that has appointments with doctors and therapists and was not able to go to these appointments. After two weeks, she asked for a rental car. They told her they would get her a rental car and she could come and get it. She never heard back. She called again and the manager said she could have his own personal car, complete with his baby's seat in the back??? So she took that for a day, then the car was complete. They charged her $1500 for a $500 job that took 2 weeks and should have taken 2 days. read more

I've been taking my car to Pep Boys now for over 12 years. They have always done a very good job on my car. Being a woman it's hard to get honesty when it comes to cars. I've owned 3 different cars and they've worked on all 3. I will keep going back to them! If you have minor repairs they are very fast. Horrible service techs!!! The employees milk the clock like crazy. I've been a service tech for years so it was appalling to watch guys working at a snails pace. I was there to swap wheels and tires with a friend, it should've taken 60-90 minutes tops. We were there just short of 4 hours! I watched one of the guys that was supposed to be changing my tires push his personal motorcycle around the shop twice when he should've been working on my truck. Came here to get my heater blend door actuator replaced. I did not need a diagnosis because I already knew what was wrong but they said it would be $90 just to look at it. I agreed to that thinking they would repair it at a reasonable cost after but boy was I wrong! They called me after looking at it and told me it would be $1000.00 best case scenario to replace or $1200.00 if it needed more solution put in after replacing bad part. I was blown away. I called Sears and they gave me a free quote over the phone for $120.00 to fix. I took it to Sears and had the work done there. I'm still upset I went to Pep Boys and gave them $90 for nothing. I will never stop foot into Pep Boys again. read more

Normally I don't write reviews but PepBoys helped me out big time. Needed my front brakes replaced and went to a competitor first as they had a coupon. They quoted me $320 for what I needed and wanted to keep my car as they felt it was unsafe to drive. I refused to do this as I had no way to get home. On a whim I went to this PepBoys and got a quote for $250 and they could have it done the same night. 90 minutes later they were done and they were able to knock off $40 and also found out why my check engine light was on, for free. Dan the service guy and Kyle the mechanic really hooked me up. Will definitely come back here again. read more

Horrible service at this location. The manager intentionally does not mention labor charges to customers even when they directly ask for a break down. Also they only put 1 screw of 10 back on a piece to the bottom of my car which then got damaged from dragging. It cost $234 to replace. The district manager only apologized for his incompetent store manager. The store manager personally insulted me over the phone. This is the second horrible experience I've actually had here. I wish I never gave them a second chance. I will never return! read more

After Acura quoted $430 for "B12" service. I made a next day appointment online with Pep boys for 9:00 am. When I dropped off my 2006 Acura for service (oil change) the store Rep Jesus was friendly and efficient and answered all of my questions. Ultimately, we agreed that in addition to the oil change (synthetic with a $10 coupon) that they would replace the air filter, check all fluids, rotate the tires, and inspect my brakes - and was quoted a $69.99 estimate. Far less then the $430 quoted by the Acura dealership I purchased the car (new) from for the "B12" service. Jesus estimated the service would take approximately an hour and a half and it did. In addition, when I returned to pick up my vehicle Carrissa gave me a $20 coupon off synthetic oil change (even better then the $10 coupon I had received in the mail). So the service cost $59.87. The staff, service and price was excellent and I will recommend Clovis Pep boys to anyone who'll listen!! Angie A read more

This is based on recent SMOG check service experience only: I was short on time and needed help asap. The wait was a little long, but given the large number of customers in the middle of the day, it was expected. Nevertheless, my car was in/out in under thirty minutes. Their special is 29.99 + tax and certificate...out the door, I paid under $40.00. Ong was very helpful and the service manager was good about giving "we're almost done" updates. Pep Boys has always treated me well and I've been coming to them for a long time. I just recently come to the Clovis store a few days ago for routine maintenance and they were wonderful - very friendly and helpful. A lot of people complain about wait times, even with appointments... I always assume it's going to be a minimum 2 hours wait anywhere I go for maintenance unless it's a quick lube. That's just the way it goes. If you feel an appointment is better - do it over the phone. A computer can't physically see what the store has booked for the day already, the personnel can... Anyways - today's experience topped the charts for me. I had my car vandalized and in doing so, they punctured one of my fairly new tires on the side wall. While they were still under warranty, I knew there probably wasn't much they could do on that end, everyone I talked to was extremely friendly and helpful. Rebecca walked me through the options and sought help to see if I could be squeezed in at the end of the day and if there was anything they could do for me under the warranty. Dan was great ringing me up and everyone I interacted with made an otherwise unpleasant situation very nice. I will most definitely keep coming to this location, even though it's a bit more out of the way, just because they truly treat their customers well. read more

I was at this auto part store today. I was at a total lost with a thousand questions about buying some tools and needed help. The sales rep, Lee and Sergio, saw the lost look in my eyes and came to help me. They were very kind, insightful and very patient with my questions. I've been to other stores before, their service does not compare to Sergio or Lee. Great customer service, human resources should get a reward for hiring these two great guys. read more

I blew out a tire late, out of town, on a Sunday (run flats, no spare). The only tire shop open after 5pm was a Pepboys. I was able to get the tire fixed and get back to town. Once I got back in town, I figured it's about time I replace the others with all matching tires. I called around to the Fresno area Pepboys. It just happened to be a tire that the stores around here don't have readily available. But, the Clovis Pepboys said, "no problem, we can order it." The tires took just under a week to get in. J.R. at the Clovis Pepboys kept in contact with me, giving updates on the shipment progress. I was able to get there on a Saturday morning. Six service bays were completely full. They told me the wait would be about 2 hours. I figured more like 3 hours. An hour and a half later they called letting me know the car was ready. A big thank you to everybody, from the garage crew, to the girls at the service counter and especially the manager J.R. for making this a quick and fair transaction. Great service! read more

John Ramos overhead me speaking with one of the workers and came to assist me. He felt compassion for my 85 year old aunt and was able to give the best deal for her budget that particular day. I am so upset and angry! I made an appointment yesterday to get my air conditioner fixed because it was blowing hot air. I have a variable work schedule and some times work 7-10 days in a row so I had to take off work to make my appointment. When I arrived I found out their machine was broken, I was so upset! I asked why they didn't tell me this at the time I made my appointment because I could have gone somewhere else. The young gentleman who helped me, Sergio, was very sweet and tried to call other locations for service but all of their machines were either broken or there were no qualified service techs to do the job. I then complained to the manager and he didn't care at all. This is not right and you need to make it right and compensate for the time I wasted but also the work I missed because of this! How can you expect me to ever go to a Pep Boys again after this? These days you need to be loyal to your customers which means making sure all your ducks are in a row before making appointments! Machines should not be broken, you should have experienced staff that are available and courteous, and managers that do what they can to keep their customers! read more

I walked in today to buy some spray detailer while I was there I could here the service dept. lecturing the worker on there spelling and then laughing at them. It seems their manager was ok with belittling an employee. I grabbed the product I needed and went up to counter to get checked out. After 5 minutes of them going about there business and me just standing there, I decided to put the product back and leave and give my business to some one who wants it. VERY VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY! My car needed a new battery. It barely started to go over there. I pulled up at 745 pm on a friday night. I asked if they could change the battery and a lady said they were closed but the guy that originally was helping me said let me take a look. He asked one of his techs came out and took my car to the shop. I sat in the waiting room for 10 min and they brought my car back out. Very quick and helpful. I said sorry for coming in after they were closed the guy that helped me DAN said "I just didn't want you to have to worry about it not starting" Im so glad I went there! If I can do zero stars, I would. This place is horrible. The guy that was in contact with me when we took my moms car in to fix was definitely fishy (his name isJR). He gave me an estimate then when we choose to not do all the repairs that was recommended, he took down the price by 200, stating he "made a mistake and overcharged us." Plus, he called me 4 times in one hr to "promote" stuff. I didn't feel right about this, so when we went in, I requested for a breakdown of everything that we were charged for. They made themselves look untrustworthy and it is sad to say we will not be going back. read more
