He was able to get my tires replaced quickly, which I really appreciated. I was charged for diagnostics ran on my vehicle. Receptionist called back and told me I needed a new transmission. When I picked up my vehicle, no diagnostic report was given. I asked for the report. After several messages, I found out that the diagnostics were not run on my vehicle. I was told I would get a refund. 2 months later, still haven't heard anything! Telling someone their vehicle needs a new transmission without running the diagnostics is just shady business! I would not recommend this place! The Front staff was not be welcoming to anyone, because I'm a new customer and entered the establishment with no greeting , no how may we help you or nothing. I made an appointment prior to coming and the front desk almost detoured me away from today's sale with many excuses of how it possibly couldn't get serviced. I insisted that they honor the appointment that was made well before driving from Chicago. Being a long time customer of pep boys in California and Georgia I've never experienced that type of customer service with this brand, so it's unacceptable. I wouldn't be surprised if this location is loosing money more than making money. Only needed a replacement headlight bulb. I was told it's $92 and I questioned why. Even the attendant wasn't sure. He had to phone his boss because in their computer, the bulb was only supposed to be $30. Well it turns out, he said there's 2 levels of labor involved. One which was removal of front bumper. I was only there for 15-20 minutes. I doubt they ever needed to do that. So $92 is what I had to pay because of the so-called 2 levels of labor for a 20 minute bulb replacement. read more

Avoid Pep Boys on Cicero in Crestwood, IL! I went there on 2/8 for a tire repair, wheel alignment (I have the unlimited service), and a tire rotation--none of which were done. An employee called to say nothing was wrong with my tire, even though I told her it had been losing air frequently. She also claimed my tread was even, which seemed off since I had my front passenger tire replaced in August 2024 and my last tire rotation was in the Spring of 2024 AT THIS PEP BOYS LOCATION! When I returned, I explained that tire rotations are recommended every 3K-5K miles, and my last one was early last year. Still, nothing was done. Today, I finally went to a different shop--they found three nails in my tire. Terrible service. Avoid this place! read more

We had an appointment today at 630p for a wheel alignment. When arrived at the Crestwood location at 630p, they informed us that they cannot perform the service because he sent his employees home. I didn't get a name, but believe it may have been the manager. I'm not understanding if an appointment is scheduled for 630p, why would you send your employees home at 6p? This was a huge inconvenience and lack of professionalism. From looking at the reviews this happens frequently. Is there a policy on allowing employees to leave when there are appointments booked? Time wasters. I dropped my car off at 8am - check engine light is on with message on dash - mechanic said they would run dx and call me in a few hours. Took a lyft back home. It's now after 4pm and I hadn't heard anything back - I never received a diagnostic printout - no quote - no voicemail-nothing. So I call up there and he said he ran diagnostic but could not find out where the problem was coming from. BULL!!! How is that possible when the computer tells you exactly what's wrong? Jamie admitted that they hadn't done any work on my car. 8 hours later and nothing done? NOTHING?? I asked can it be fixed today - he got smart and said "if not today, tomorrow". No apology or nothing. Took another lyft back up there and got my car from those morons. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow - where I should've went in the first place. Jamie is an asshat. Came to this location for a battery after my car didn't start right away. I was told by the tech that they should run a battery test to be sure. I agreed, they came back and said it was my starter not the battery. I agreed to have them install the starter. When I came back to pick my car up it still did not start. The mechanic said it was the battery, I explained to the shop supervisor that I only got a starter put in because you guys said to. He said their battery testing machine is old and doesn't work all the time and unfortunately only thing he could do is put the old starter back in and replace the battery. However I was still charged for the starter installation. So I basically paid over 400 dollars for 125 dollar battery. I emailed corporate and was never contacted back. I would avoid this place at all costs for dishonest business practices. read more

2 hours for an oil change is absolutely ridiculous. I was told 45 min when I arrived. I'm patient, but if anything over quote the time, not under quote, because believe it or not, your customers have other responsibilities. We do need to know accurate times. There was another man in there before me, who had been there for 3 and another who was told his car would be ready at 230 but was still there at 630 when I left. I was in the car biz for years- I am familiar with how a service department works. This one clearly is struggling. Read the rest of the reviews, they're not lying. I will say the employees were apologetic and respectful to me, but I did hear one snap at 2 of the customers who were complaining about their wait. Get it together Pep Boys! Either your management needs to change or you need to hire some new employees. read more

Absolute terrible customer service at this location!! Particularly in the service shop. They will lie right to your face with a smile. The website will tell you they have it in inventory when you get there they don't. And they will give you the run around for days for the product. They are more busy trying to sell you parts products or services that you don't need and didn't ask for, than dealing with the immediate issue that you came in for. I definitely do not recommend getting any service of a kind on your vehicle at this location. Any other location will treat you better and are more helpful and knowledgeable than this location. Came into pep boys to get an oil change, decided to get a tire patched up that had a slow leak for months. They stated they couldn't patch the hole because of a nail. I say fine I'll purchase a new tire this weekend once I figure out which grade or quality to buy. 2 hours later my car is on flat. one of the service workers removed the tire in hopes of me purchasing a new one & when I declined my car All of a sudden is flat 2 hours later. So... I bought tires from former NTB the tires only lasted 2yrs before I started having problems-went back to NTB and they gave didn't honor what they promised. So, (after having to replace all 4 from June Bug tire & auto) one evening I came to Pep Boys here in Crestwood and Chris happily took care of all my needs with a new set of tires- road Hazzard and warranty. He was so pleasant and my wife & I left feeling comforted and reassured with the right set of tires for my 4x4 F150 truck. So much so I came back a few months later to have the brakes done.... And even then (i only needed 2brakes not all 4) So Again completely satisfied! Thank you again Chris !!!! read more

I replaced 4 tires here, and one of them lost 10 lbs of air within 4 days. I called them but had to wait to take my car in due to work schedule. Unfortunately, It took 5 weeks and many tire refills before I was able to bring in my car. When I brought my care in, I was told that because I did not purchase tire insurance, I would have to fork over 30.00 for them just to look at it. No one should have to give more $$ for a tire check after 5 weeks. Insurance or not!!!!! What a scam! This company has really lost it's way. read more

I will make this short and sweet. Brandon was my initial contact at the store and he was thorough and professional. After having my new tires installed the price was different than what i had seen online and taken a screenshot of. Brandon called over the manager to take a look and his response was a loud "what" so I knew where it was going. When Jamie ( the manager ) came over instead of listening he starts typing and telling me why the price of the tires is different. I said wait lets slow down introduced myself and let him know online it says instillation is free. Before i could finish he cut me off again to tell me the tire prices. I let him know we couldn't speak at the same time and when he was ready to listen to my side let me know and i would explain. At this time he allegedly went into the back to call his district manager. He came back and told me they would do it this time but next time they cant honor internet prices. No need to worry about next time pepboys i wont come back ever....for anything......i will go back to the dealership before i spend one penny in pepboys. When I got there, the price was COMPLETELY different! AND NO WARRANTY LIKE THEY SAID. He took off some charges to make the price reflect what I was told. That's great. Mind you, I had an APPOINTMENT that I was early to. He said it would take an hour to an hour and 15. Well here I currently sit TWO HOURS LATER and my car is still not done. He went to check on it only because I asked and said "30-35 more minutes" really? How is that even possible? Like I said, if you have unlimited time, patience, and want to babysit the workers to make sure they are actually working on your car out there, then you will enjoy this place. I visited this particular location in March 2018 to purchase tires. Paid nearly $700 to have tires, wheel alignment and a sensor replaced. On October 14, 1018 I went back to Pep Boys because my front passenger side tire kept leaking air. I went to have it replaced/repaired because of the warranty I had. However I was told that I did not have a warranty for roadside hazard. The service guy kept trying to debate that I only purchased 1 tire when I had my original receipt in hand that clearly showed I purchased 4 tires. In addition, everything in their system was wrong including my name and phone number. Needless to say they said they couldn't repair the tire and that I would have to purchase another tire. Due to their lack of customer service I refused to purchase a tire from this location. I went to Pep Boys in Lansing and had my tire replaced much better customer service. read more

I took my vehicle here only because it was a Sunday. I assumed I just needed a battery since the battery light came on the dashboard but also requested a diagnostic test. $300 later a new battery was put in the car. The following Monday morning all the lights were flashing on my dash and barely made back to Pep Boys. The person at the register stated it may be the alternator but they would put in a new battery since we had just had the battery put in the day before. We let them repair the car (new alternator) but didn't get the car back until Tuesday morning with a bill of over $900, and no new battery, just the one they originally put in! Fast forward to Wednesday, the air conditioner doesn't work. My husband brings it to our regular mechanic who tells us that whoever put in the alternator moved the compressor and it was never re-connected. He also checked the battery and said it was not secure and connections were not tight enough. Never again will I ever use Pep Boys or recommend them! My truck was making noises and it felt like I was riding over railroad tracks all the time. I called Pep Boys in Crestwood, spoke with Jessica who advised me to bring it in for an inspection. She was so kind I took her advice and took my truck in for an inspection. Yep. I needed some work and I contacted my warranty company and was told my warranty ended 4 days earlier. I was devastated. I need my truck for work so I had to pay out of pocket. Jamie was very nice and professional while walking me through the process on how to proceed. He told me that it would take about 8 hours for the work to be completed BUT because I came in first thing in the A.M. Aldo the mechanic was able to work on my truck right away and it only took 5 hours. He also fixed my squeaky door, which was a plus. Aldo was pleasant during a very stressful time for me. Explaining Exactly what he did and why. Jamie the counter person then explained my bill and the cost and I am truly happy that the work was done and the cost was lower than the qoute. Jessica signed me up for reward points and I now have enough points to pay for my premium oil change. All I all, I have found my new truck maintenance facility. The staff is worth a visit. Other than the oil change( price) their prices are just too high. Had a $1000 estimate on my brakes rotors and inner tie rods including new tires. I can get all of those parts plus labor at a much lower cost than what pep boys quoted me, but the worst part is I had to wait 2.5 hours for a simple oil change if i didn't ask why my car was taking soo long i would have at least stay for an extra hour or so. I scheduled an appointment for a Lyft inspection the night before thru Lyft's app. I got a text message at 9:04am from Lyft stating "Lyft reminder: Your inspection has been scheduled for today @11:00 AM at Pep Boys - Crestwood, located at 13401 S Cicero Ave in Crestwood. If you haven't already, please call your location at +17084892693 to confirm your appointment and avoid long wait times." At 10:22am I called to confirm so I wouldn't have to wait in line, after dropping my son off at a babysitter. I was put on hold for about 7 minutes and then told that they don't have any appointments today, I could go in tomorrow. What was the purpose of selections 11am, not 2pm, or some other time. I was in a bind and had a bad valve stem. Steve the man in the service area said it would be a little while. He did say if I went and pulled the tire and brought it back in he could squeeze me in. That's exactly what happened. I like the fact he did what he said he would do. It's hard to find honest people who do what they say they will do. Especially in the automotive repair industry. Like my quick tip says, do not buy tires here. They do not clean your rims before installing the tires! Every place I've bought tires from in the past has cleaned the corrosion from the rims before putting new tires on, because they will leak air if this isn't done. My tires were leaking over 15 psi per week. I had to put air in them daily. I had to take my car to Midas to get the rims cleaned at $25 each, which is actually a decent price. I haven't lost air since. However, Pep Boys should have done this at the time I purchased my new tires. Apparently they couldn't because they lack the tools necessary to clean corrosion from rims. As Midas said "Then why do they bother selling tires? They could have knocked it off with a hammer!" The other big issue is their Road Hazard warranty. It only covers replacing your tire for the first 90 days! This means if your tire cannot be repaired, you have to pay for a new tire and labor as if you had no additional warranty at all! Even after they prorated my tire, it was around $100 to replace a tire covered under road hazard! UPDATE: I had an appointment to get my tires balanced since my warranty actually covers that; my appointment time was 5pm. I arrived at 4:50 and was told it would be an hour to an hour and a half before they could get to my car because they were short handed. I said fine, and had my wife pick me up. We went back at 7:10, 2 hours and 10 minutes after my appointment time, and 40 minutes after the latest they would get to my car. We were told another 30 minutes before it could even be looked at! Had to leave, because like most people, I have places I have to be. Don't buy tires here, don't get service done here. The $70 I saved buying tires here has cost me nearly $200 in a shady road hazard warranty and paying other shops to fix their mistakes. If I charged them my hourly rate for the time they wasted I could've paid another shop to balance my tires. I finally just filed a complaint with their customer service phone number, this can't possibly be how corporate expects them to do business. read more

If I could give a 0 I would I took my vehicle here only because Nissan was closed on Sunday 26 June 2022 and my tire was losing pressure. I only wanted a patch tire but they claim it had Two nails in the vehicle and they don't patch two holes in a tire . So I had to purchase a tire. My vehicle was driving ruff and weird and was pulling and jerking when I drive it and turn corners. I took my vehicle to Nissan on 01 July 2022 and Nissan informed me they put the wrong tire on the vehicle and cause your trans to leak and that's what the jerking and pulling is. I went back to pepboys on 01 July 2022. And spoke to the manager Chris who lied and told me that he would submit the claim to the claims department and someone would call me from there so I called the 1 800 pepboys number and he never submitted the claim and while I was at pepboys I called Nissan in front of Chris and they told him that the tire cause the leak and that when I had my vehicle at Nissan on the 01 June for an oil change there was no leak. I'm still waiting for someone to call me. Still waiting if I don't get a call or respond I will be suing pepboys. The trans work cost $5407.19 read more
