Worst service I have ever received. Got an appointment for a suspension check on my two front tires. It should not take long to check that. Had an appointment at 5. I went early was told to come. That was fine! I understand that they were busy, but they told me to come back at a specific time (which was 5 again). I went in ten minutes early and gave them my keys. Keep in mind, they knew I was coming back to get my car checked. I ended up waiting an hour just to get my car moved from its original parking space and I'm currently still waiting. What is the purpose of an appointment if my car is not going to be seen nowhere near that time? Just ridiculous. Don't go here if you value your time at all. Also I can't forget about them also trying to give me somebody else's keys without checking who they belong to first. read more

My mom went for new tires with the car working just fine, as soon as she picks up the car, there's a check engine light, there's another symbol on, the car doesn't turn on correctly. There's also handprints on top of the hood, making us think that they were doing something under there. We went for new tires not for anything else... When we went to ask about the situation, they said that they did go under the hood to check if the battery was working and other things ... first of all, we didn't ask for any of that, we needed new tires and that's all. SO SHADY AND UNETHICAL - STAY AWAY. In short: They lied to me about what car battery was being installed and tried to charge me more, and broke some pieces. I took my car in to replace the battery and was told by manager (Randy Clark) it was just over $300 for a certain battery and labor. I had to grab something from my car and happened to notice the battery they were about to install (part number H6-750G, Peoboys brand), which was different than the type I thought I was getting. I went to the Pepboys website and went through the checkout process for the same battery to see the total price with installation and taxes. The total online was $231 (about $70 less than what Randy was charging me). Labor was only supposed to be $14.99, included in the $231 price. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe they decided to change the type of battery and would adjust the price at checkout. When they rang me up, he said the price was still around $300. What? I showed the rep the online pricing. He proceeded to tell me a different battery model was installed. I asked for my keys to go inspect and sure enough, they had installed the Pepboys battery I noticed earlier. Busted. When I came back after inspecting, the tech, Daniel, conceded he had broken the battery housing door. Was he not going to tell me if I had not gone to inspect? I told them the battery installed was less than what they were charging me and showed them the Pepboys website pricing. He tried to gaslight me, "Oh that's the online price and we charge for installation." I pointed out that installation was only supposed to be $14.99. Busted again. After fumbling around, he said he would give me a "discount." It still was about $8 more than the online price and he said that's the best he could do. When I asked if I could just checkout and pay online, he said I couldn't - also not true. To top things off, they snapped off the battery housing door and didn't replace the terminal cover (as I asked Daniel), which was sitting on the passenger seat. But wait, there's more: the manager, Randy, was smoking in the service area and when I was questioning the price discrepancy, he was coughing forcefully in my face, seemingly intentionally. Went in for a battery replacement, but my old battery had corroded so horribly that it wasn't as easy as expected. They educated me on the manufacturer-only made part I needed to ask for at my dealership. Great price for the service and they didn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge at all. Came out with ALL of my lug nuts being stripped and they didn't even fix the tire that was leaking air Bc "the lug nuts were too tight", which were not at all. This was probably the most unusual and disappointing service experience I've ever had, and I'm actually very easy/forgiving. When I arrived, the place was a construction mess with thick layer of plaster dust and pieces all over the floor. They're in the middle of remodeling, so it's forgivable but it really wasn't a store. More like a dusty, half-constructed room with a person at a computer. That's all. But, I can work with that. The guy behind the desk didn't acknowledge me right away. I had an 8am appointment so it wouid be pretty easy to figure out what I was there for at 8am on the dot. He finally said something like "yeah? Whatcha want?" I told him I had an appointment. He seemed confused and rattled off stuff about his mechanics not showing up and he isn't sure when the work wouid be done. I assured him I wasn't in a hurry and didn't need to wait here for my car. I asked him if he thought the work wouid be able to be completed at all. He said "I don't know." And shrugged his shoulders. He asked me if I wanted to come back. I said that if I needed to come back I'd find someplace else. He shrugged his shoulders and said "well, whatcha gonna do?" I started worrying about the quality of the work and the organization of the place. He said they close at 7 so someone wouid probably come in, but he wasn't sure and shrugged his shoulders again. I told him I'd go find someplace else. "Allllright." It shocks me that a large corporation like Pep Boys doesn't hire or train people who can handle easy customer service experiences like this. I have been using this location since 2009. When I moved here from another state they were the place I could trust with my cars. This past year their service has been terrible. I believe one of their main managers passed away in 2016 or earlier this year. Since he has been gone their customer service has gone down the drain. They have overcharged me for multiple things. And when I question the pricing they have magically found discounts. This past and the last time I've come to this location I believe they made a mistake did something to my air condition. They told me based on the previous repair it was impossible that they caused the issue with my air conditioner. I had no issues with my air conditioner before bringing them my car for an unrelated issue. They said they could check it out for me after I paid them an additional $75. I have gone to a pep boys in Chicago and they accidentally cracked my windshield. And when I called them, they said they would check out the cameras, They did not immediately deny that they didn't do anything. And after they checked the cameras they realize that they did do it. And it was an accident. And it was OK because they fixed it. That is customer service. And that is why I have been coming to Pep Boys for so long. But I will never return to this location again. They wouldn't even check the cameras to see if the mistake had been made. I have been coming to this location for eight years. And it seems every time I go in there at their new people in there. Their head office needs to clean up this shop because there are too many other maintenance jobs in this area to be treated as if they are the only one. read more

These guys can only seem to handle the absolute most basic service. I hit a pot hole recently and damaged my front driver side control arm, replaced the control arm myself put it all back together and took it here to have them mount a tire on a rim and do an alignment. They mounted the tire on the rim and programmed the TPMS sensor of the new rim for $29. However, when they tried to do the alignment they told me I had a damaged suspension component that needed to be replaced before they could do the alignment. When asked which component....low and behold "Driver side front control arm" When I told them that had just been replaced they said they'd take another look to see if anything else is damaged, when they came back I was told they couldn't find what's damaged. Likely the subframe needs to be shifted which is out of their skill set, as opposed to admitting that it's out of their skill set from the get go they wanted to sell me an unneeded and expensive service. I'll go back for them to do work that can be easily verified but anything deeper than a tire swap or mounting a rim will send me off elsewhere. read more

No. Just no. I've been bringing my cars here for decades, mostly for oil changes, tires, and maintenance and I thought they had pretty good service. My elderly mom took her car here for brakes. They charged her hundreds of dollars (over 600) for new brakes. She sold the car a week later to a mechanic. He had to put all new brakes and rotors on because nothing had been done. Nothing! So last month I took my car to another shop for my oil change. They could not get the oil filter off and said that it looked like it had not been changed in YEARS. Not cool, Manny and Moe. Two months ago I bought a new set of tires for my car. Every time I ask how long it would take all I would get is it should not take long. Over two hours later I finally get my car back. Today I went back there looking for a tune up. They told me they could not get me in for over two hours and could not tell me how long it would take. I decided to drive around the corner to Quick Lube. They got me straight in and explained everything thing I asked for and the cost to do it as will as an ETA on completion. Extremely slow service! I was told 20-30 minutes until they could get to my car. Waited over an hour before It moved out of its parking space. I have been waiting over 3 hours now. I have not once been approached with an update and I am the only one in the waiting area. I see employees/technicians chatting in groups and playing on their phones. No one speaks to me about what is going on. I have asked the front desk guy 3 times for an ETA. When he does finally look up from the computer, he doesn't give an kind of answer. Pep Boys at 1950 N. Beltline Road, Irving TX 75061. On 2/21/23 showed up 15 minutes early for a 1:00 pm appt. to have my front end alignment checked. Upon arrival, I was told they were backed up and would get to me when they could. After sitting for over an hour (2:10 pm), my vehicle was finally pulled into a bay. At 3:40 pm, I saw that my vehicle was up on the alignment rack, but no one was working on it. Over 2 1/2 hours later, my vehicle had not been serviced, so I told them to take it off the rack and I would take it somewhere else. At this time I had a heated run in with the manger, Nash Omar, who said he had to pull the tech off to do an oil change and accused me having messed my alignment up and it was going to take a while to align it. All I asked was for an alignment check. The manager was very un-professional, the customer service was pitiful, the shop was dirty and disorganized and the mechanics were not moving with any sense of urgency. In summary: either poor management, disorganization, not enough mechanics or too much work. After frequenting this location for years, I will never seek their services again. I can't lie...I don't know a thing about tires nor do I ever want to know anything about tires. I went here because the price was right for an oil change, they agreed to match a competitor and beat them by 5% on the tires I needed. I didn't have a hand written quote and they matched it anyway, something I could tell they didn't always do. I'm not 100% sure of the quality that I got so I am going to pretend it was the best of the best. One star may be on the generous side. Today I arrived at 10:35 for a reinspection. Previously emissions failed apparently due to O2 sensor problem. I had all four sensors changed and two days later returned to complete the state inspection. Upon arrival I was told the Inspectress was scheduled for work at 11:00 and I was first in line. One hour passed, the vehicle hadn't moved from where I'd parked. I waited at the counter and asked if maybe the technician hadn't come into work. The fellow said she was at work but actually there'd been an oil change and an inspection already scheduled and as soon as she finished she would get on to mine. Two hours after my arrival my vehicle was moved from the parking lot. Three hours after my arrival, job finished. I'm not thrilled O2 sensor error still failed my vehicle. I am much less thrilled I spent three hours, yes actually three hours for what shouldn't have taken more than twenty minutes. Well not counting the unexpected arrival of at least one other customer who was moved to the head of the line. Forget me, I have already forgotten Pep Boys. read more

The sign on the counter says Free Installation of "most" batteries. My battery was under warranty and while it was free of charge I was told that my car had a $23 install charge because it was put in at an angle and therefore required a charge that could not be overridden. When I called the original store they told me the charge is at the complete discretion of the manager and could have been waived. read more

Steve was wrong, they didn't have the part and couldn't get it ordered in time. Then Steve proceeded to be extremely rude and aggressive claiming it was my fault he gave wrong info. He offered to install for free but said his mechanics would get grease all over my truck because he would tell them not to use any mats or protective material on the inside. I thought he was kidding but realized he wasn't. He then told me to take it elsewhere.
