I wish I knew how to give zero stars and a review as I refuse to return here. As you can tell I am more of a Yelp user than a Yelp reviewer but this Pep Boys location should have a complete turnover in staff if it wants to save itself. My wife stopped in there for her tire pressure light on a 2017 Infinity. They told her the tire had a nail in it and wasn't repairable. They said she had to replace 2 tires at a time and because they tires wouldn't match we paid $1300 for the 4 run flat tires. She paid upfront but was told the tires wouldn't be there until 4. She received a text and she responded she would be there around 5:30 when she got off of work. Here is where everything went downhill. They asked her is she could come earlier. (They are open until 9). I meet her there and they immediately start asking for us to return in the morning(the bays were empty) 3 mechanics standing around, some large guy upfront that acts like a manager but is completely useless for anything. We both work and returning the next day wasn't an option. We go have dinner, revive a text that her car is ready and return. As she pulls out of the parking lot she calls to tell me all 4 tires have different pressure, the lowest being 20 psi when they should have been set at 35 cold. On top of that the steering wheel is turned to the left while driving straight. I have her pick me up and we returned. At this point all they want us to do is return in the morning. Didn't want to even properly fill the tires. The fat useless "manager" guy Just pushed everything off to the "service manager" Vladimir who was rude and didn't want to help in any way. As a matter of fact he went as far as to say it wasn't his responsibility on how vehicles left the shop and he didn't sell her the tires or service. When I brought up the air pressure being set properly in order to do an alignment he didn't know anything and didn't care about it other than saying it wasn't his problem and the technicians are responsible for all of it. Basically he is a guy that enters data and collects payment but called himself a service manager. The best thing you can do is to drive or even have your car towed past this Pep Boys if you even remotely want to be treated like a customer or receive any type of decent service. I went to pep boys in davie as I always do to get an oil change which I pay more then what the dealer charges me but I like this location , however this time on Mother's Day I went to get an oil change it took 2 hours which I waited with no problem. I got my car and headed home heard a metal noise they left the pan down under my car . I called they told me to drive it back and if the pan breaks off they will replace I said ok things happen however when I got there the guy acted like I did something wrong and they made me wait again for someone to fix what they did horrible service I will never come back to pep boys again if I could rate this place a minus zero I would horrible horrible experience . Pep Boys has gone down hill in a very busy Davie Plaza just South of 595, I made an appointment for an oil change on their website for 8am for my wife's Toyota Prius V. She has been going to you for years. My daughter warned me that it takes a long time and that was a red flag. I was going at 8am and thought it would be okay since it is a Thursday, well wrong! They had no staff to open the store, one girl by herself and no mechanics, it is a joke, Auto#1829544762401, they send me text messages, emails, reminders and no service, I walked out with six other people in line, why don't you send the reminders to your staff and get a store manager to run the store, horrible service for such a large company, really a joke, ruined my day and messed up my plans to go to work late for an oil change, unreal! Poor example of customer service. My daughter took car in and told them her gas mileage was down significantly. They didn't even look at it and quoted her $500+ for fuel line work and tune up. When she called us (we are 200 miles away) we asked to speak to the technician. He was on the phone with another customer. She waited and when he hung up the phone he handed her the keys and said good bye. Perhaps he did not like getting called out. Can't say they lost a customer because I actually didn't even get the service I went for. I tried to go for an oil change but apparently Pep Boys' computers know more about your car than you and your car's manufacturer. Went in to ask about an oil change and they quoted me triple of what was the starting online price. When I asked for more information they mentioned that it was synthetic oil and I asked them to quote me on semi-synthetic. They insisted that my car needed synthetic oil. I explained that I was requesting semi-synthetic because that was the only type of oil my car had used since it came out of the dealer, brand new and it was recommended by dealer. I brought them my manufacturer's owner's manual and showed them how regular oil was recommended. Even after explaining the difference between my car's requirements, my request and their command they refused to follow my request (with valid proof) and stated that there was nothing that they could do. They insisted that their company doesn't allow it and they don't know why but it could flat out not be done. Told me to go to another business. We can all assume that the reason Pep Boys now makes it policy to override manufacturer's recommendations and force you to go with another product is $$$. Triple the cost but no reason? Yeah right! Had been in the store only a few times in 20 years, even though it is very close to my house. Never liked the store because of the lack of service, the loud noises and how filthy it seems to be. I'm only giving two stars because the guys were very nice, but they do things under the table and made me feel very uncomfortable. I had a nail in my tire and I was told to pull around to one of the bays. The guy fixed it for me, but then tells me he only takes cash. I told him I don't have cash and need to pay with a card, and he said that he can't take card and I'm paying him not the company. I told him I didn't know this is under the table I don't have cash, and he tells me where to go to the closest ATM. I told him I don't want to pay a fee and I want a receipt in case I need to bring my car back. And he said he can't give me a receipt but if anything happened with it, that I can bring it back for free. I don't like that type of service and will not be going back here again read more

FRAUD, UNPROFESSIONALISM, SLOPPY WORK, SLOPPY SHOP, POOR MANAGEMENT, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I made an online appointment for 3pm on 11/20/18 and went into Pep Boys at 2380 South University Drive Davie Fl for an oil change and tire rotation. I called ahead to make sure all arrangements were set, only to get there and to be told techs were on lunch and there would be a wait. There was also no connection to online so my information had to be entered into the system manually. About 1 hour 30 minutes later. I watched an elderly mechanic writing up my work order bringing my car to the front certifying the job was completed. Unknown to him, I had watched him through the shop window and saw him do nothing to my car except top off the wiper fluid, and tentatively check one front tire. TOTAL FRAUD! TOTAL FRAUD! SCAM! TOTAL SCAM! When I informed Kevin the Supervisor of this, he stood by his worker. We went to my car together and checked, and sure enough, no oil change was done, but was certified as completed. The oil was dirty, and even a quart low. I called for the Assistant Manager, he was gone for over 40 minutes, and the staff didn't want to call him. No one took charge or attempted to deal with this. Kevin handed the issue over to another Supervisor who did NOTHING also, except write up a new work order. I had to stand there demanding something be done. The Mechanic who did the fraud still walked around acting like he was working. All the supervisors shook their heads looking at each other complaining that the elderly mechanic shouldn't be working, but did NOTHING!. I asked that the elderly mechanic not touch my car again. When Vladimir the Assistant Manager finally showed up, he was nasty, rude, did not apologize for the fraud , and blew me off. Asking if I'd like to stand over the work next time to make sure the job was done correctly when I complained. He refused to certify the work was done properly by his staff. Another Mechanic did a sloppy oil change free of charge which I don't trust, so I will go elsewhere to get it done right tomorrow. The second Mechanic assured me everything was done properly, but I wasn't so sure because he rushed through it. The shop was dirty, Mechanics sloppy even for a garage, and the container which housed the oil was filthy. Customer service didn't exist. I was in the shop for over 2 hours for an oil change. How many other Customers were SCAMMED like this? DON'T GO HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT! read more

They'll get you in quick and seem to do a pretty good job. They know what they are talking about and I didn't get the feeling that I was being talked in to extra work. I even got 10% off just for asking if the price they gave me was the best they could do. Unfortunately, the customer service is terrible. Expect to stand at the counter for a while before being helped and you will likely see employees walk right by without so much as a "be right with you." The employees will also speak to each other in Spanish right in front of you so unless you speak Spanish also, you'll have no idea what they're saying about what your car really needs. They do seem willing to help, just not aware that they are being rude. But hey, you get what you pay for and if you're trying to save a few bucks on a repair and care more about how good the work is than how well you're treated or how nice the waiting room is, this is a pretty good place. read more

I took my suv for an oil change and tires rotation included in that service at 3pm. I paid $94 for the service. They told me to pick it up at 5pm. At that time, I arrived there and asked about the tire rotation and the cashier told me that it was done and that my Jeep had 2 lights that doesn't work. I asked her why she didn't call me before I got there and she answered me that she was too bussy to call me. I asked how much it will cost and she said $15 each, then I ask jer hpw much time does it takes to replace them. I've been told 20 mins. Then I paid pff the invoice for $122. She told me my credit card was declined so I paid with another credit card. When I got to my car I noticed tgey lied to me because they didn't make the tire rotation and my car's interior (door panel, wheel and floor) was full of grease. I went back to the store and I asked for the store manager Bob Hines. I explained the situation and he went with me to the car. When he saw the interior he call the technician named Nelson and asked him to clean it up. He told me the newest tires should be behind. I told him I agreed but they didn't change it. I knew they didn't because I bought these tires a month ago; so I asked him why they lied to me. He got angry and shoud me to shut my mouth and I told him the cashier told me they have made the rotation. When he asked Nelson if he have made it, he said he didn't and that he told her that because he was tired because he had a lot of work just for him and he hasn't time enough to complete all his tasks. This guy, Bob Hines, is an irresponsable, has no skilla to be a manager and he has no idea about customer service. He is totally incompetent and inept. I went in to purchase a new battery. I was charged for a new battery. They put in a used battery that they don't even sale. I picked my car up running. The following morning it wouldn't start. $600+ later, after an Uber to get to work, rental car, and a trip to the car dealership for what was assumed to be a bigger electrical issue, I was told my battery was bad. I returned to the store and they admitted to putting in and old battery only after accusing me of lying and checking their own security video. They begrudgingly credited back my purchase price and refused to compensate me for any of of my additional cost due to their dishonest actions. read more

Called this morning to check on status and advisor stated they just started working on it and would have complete diagnosis in an hour. 3 hours go by, no call..I called to check on status to which a different advisor states he didn't even know hummer was there, never entered the bay and no AC tech was even there.. This shop is VERY MUCH worth passing up. I have had my car in several times for basic services such as oil changes, wheel alignments, rotations, etc. Not once have I ever had an experience where I was completely satisfied! Some of their employees are friendly; but the Asst Manager, Vlad, has poor customer service skills. However, the Store Manager, Jose, is very nice and was cool-headed with me even though I was slightly upset. Examples of shortcomings with this shop: 1.) I have called to make an appointment on several occasions. The store has no record of it when I arrive. 2.) They cannot prove to you that they aligned your wheels properly because "the printer is broken." I was upset when this happened in May, but now again in January? Seriously.... FIX YOUR PRINTER!!! 3.) On my last visit, they did not rotate my tires as promised. I marked the tires in advance and it was not done properly. When I called them on it, the mechanic claimed it was because the tread wasn't worn enough. Maybe that is true. But for a customer who has already spoken to the GM and is quite picky (Me), I would expect to be told this in advance of checking myself. 4.) When my tires were rotated in May, they failed to return the lug nut key that makes my rims theft-proof. I only realized it when I got home and had to drive all the way back. Vlad's response was basically a shoulder shrug. 5.) If your car has sensors which monitor oil quality and track you tire-rotations, they will not reset them unless you specifically ask. 6.) I called to check the status of my "one-year alignment" deal. Since the man I spoke to was with a customer, I asked him to call me back when he had a chance to confirm it was still valid. Of course he never did. Bottom line is, it is hard to find a mechanic you trust. And I am not sure you would do just that here. Unless your car is flat-out not running..... keep driving. read more

On March 26th, 2021 I went to this Pep Boys to purchase 4 tires for my Volkswagen Beetle and also requested an alignment. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with purchasing and installing tires. One my first visit they installed the wrong tire size for my car and the alignment was not accurate. Once again I had to go back. It turns out the first time I went there they did not have the tires I requested, instead of letting me know that, they dishonestly told me they found better tires for my car. Then the tires they installed had the wrong tire pressure so the tire pressure warning light came on, and has a result I had to return a third time. I am disappointed in the way customers are treated because I truly had high expectations. The service writers are dishonest, and the mechanics are incompetent. They apparently thought because I am a woman I would not recognize that. I absolutely do not recommend Pep Boys and will refrain from ever go there in the future. read more

This place was pretty good, many years ago. I used to take my car in, routinely. Staff was friendly. I guess management changed at some point and I notice a drastic drop in service and quality of work. I decided to quit going after I had almost all my lugnuts cross-threaded (half on one trip, then when I had them fixed, the other half). I replaced them all myself and said "never again." I was pretty tired of garbage service at all these places. Last time, I walked in to buy oil/filter, and some other stuff, I also walked out empty handed because the oil prices were outrageous. I called this past week to get quotes for a timing belt job, water pump, and radiator/coolant flush (which I know I don't actually need, since the coolant is getting changed with the water pump replacement). The guy quoted me $1200 (never suggesting I don't need a radiator flush). The radiator flush he quoted, btw, was 90 bucks instead of $70 I had been quoted previously. In addition, the only way I have figured they can quote $1100 for a timing belt and water pump is to double charge on the labor. The point of doing both at the same time is that it takes the same amount of time to do both. I was expecting to pay ~$550, so I was floored. I ended up going to a small shop I know and trust and paid about $550. Screw this place. Just imagine, a few years ago I went in with 30k mi on a car and said "The DEALERSHIP (Rick Case Hyundai - screw those guys) told me I needed 3 new drivebelts (there are only 2 on the vehicle), and I want an opinion from PepBoys while it's for an oil change." They came back with the right answer. "No you don't need new belts, and the car only has two...". This is how I know I could trust this place back in the day. That's how it used to be there. TL;DR- waited 2 hours for a battery to be replaced, got ripped off. Okay, I've had a long day but my experience at Pep Boys was just the end to it I didn't need. I needed a new battery and instead of having my dealership take care of it I decided I'd take it over to Pep boys, maybe save some money. First mistake, second really considering my experience with the shoddy customer service at your service station and in the store, I'd been in earlier in the week for parts and spent a good 15 minutes standing at the counter waiting on someone to come assist me. That visit is really neither here nor there other than to demonstrate that I should have known what to expect. I soldiered on and off I went, I headed initially to the parts counter and waited...and waited... there were 2 people ahead of me and no staff in sight, so I figured I would try the service counter. I was surprised by the estimate but I had a $20 coupon-- that the service assistant assured me would work-- so that would bring it to the same cost as my dealer. The estimated wait time was 45 minutes, a little long for a battery but it could take me that long to get someone's attention at the parts desk so I handed over my keys and signed off on the work. I went out to get dinner, I waited over an hour before heading over to the service counter to see what was going on, I could see my car parked in the garage, hood open, no work happening. At the service counter I waited until the assistant finally noticed me, he the other assistant and the only technician on were apparently working on tires on the car ahead of me. From what I could gather the ONLY car ahead of me. Reminder: I needed a battery changed. When the young man took notice of me he immediately went into the garage and closed the door behind him. He came back out to inform me that my battery had YET to be replaced that "it was a complicated" situation with the battery slightly under the windshield. I was exasperated and made no attempts to hide it, I was told 45 minutes, waited an additional 20 minutes, THEN was told that work hadn't even begun on my car. A courtesy call would be the least I would expect. Don't get me wrong the service assistant was a friendly gentleman, I asked if I could pay for the service at that time so that when my car was *finally* ready I could just leave. At that point he discovered that my coupon wouldn't work despite his earlier assurances, he called over the manager to give me 10% off because it was the "least [he] could do after may wait." The manager came over and I asked that I would get the promised $20 off instead of the 10% (difference of $5.00), the young man agreed. I paid, had my receipt e-mailed to me, and resumed my long vigil for my vehicle. While paying another customer came in about her vehicle, admittedly it was 15 minutes before the store closed so I understood the answer of "we're not accepting any more cars, we're closed" the customer was disgruntled, there was further discussion that I didn't pay attention to, when she left the service assistant and manager proceeded to talk about the customer in front of me which I did find quite inappropriate, if I showed that same level of "customer service" I'd have no customers and no future in my industry. They made one salient point--Pep Boys is the only auto shop open late so customers have no other choice. In this day and age we all work, we all need our cars for work, so we need auto shops that are open late, while I appreciate Pep Boys hours and completely understand I was a walk-in, more than one technician seems prudent. I came home after 2 hours with a new battery that should have taken 20 minutes to install, that I would have installed myself had I had an honest timetable. I check my e-mail to find that I did not get the agreed upon $20 off my services and that according to your website battery installation is free. I am more than exasperated at this point I am very upset, just because Pep Boys is open late and have more convenient locations is no reason to take your customers for a ride, 2 hours for a battery. It's insane. I have half a mind to return the battery but I that will not restore the 2 hours of my life I wasted waiting. read more

Matthew in the service department is the man. He really does everything he can to make sure you're happy as a customer. I was there not too long ago and I don't issue with my oil drain plug, Matthew went above and beyond in helping correct the problem. I only get four stars because I have had some issues with service done at the store, but they make up for it with their follow up and follow through. read more

Showed up they gave me a time to come back and sent me an email when my car was done. 15 minutes earlier than my quoted time. They informed me that my brake pads could use a change. I was told 45 minute for an oil change. we told the guy will be back we are going to go eat, he said ok take your time. 50 minutes later we walked back and we notice our care in the same spot and a guy waking towards it as if he was just about to take in the back to get an oil change. We waked in to the customer service and asked if the car was ready the guy said umm it will be few more minutes, it's not ready. So I told him did they just take my car in and he said yes we had another appointment before you, but I got here also for my appointment. He said it would be few minutes not to long. So why have me wait for 50 minutes and not another 30 minutes... total of one hour and 20 minutes... that's not fast or good customer service.... after oh one hour and 20 minute wait our car was ready and we walked to the register and they didn't charge us for it. We have a 2013 ford explore it needed the steering rack and gearbox changed. We had taken our car to the Plantation ford dealership on 441 for this work to be done and they wanted to charge us almost $4,000.00. Without any consideration. Also telling us the car was rotted on the bottom and need a new shock absorber in the rear part of the car in total the whole repair was going to be about 7,000.00 if we had the work done with the dealership. We decided to get a second opinion from Pep Boy since we have gotten great service from them before. Three days later we went to PEP Boys at 2380 S University and met with Nathan K.. He not only gave us great customer service but also care. He looked over what the dealership had written wrong with the car. An gave us great news the car only needed a steering rack and gearbox and their price was definitely more affordable than the dealership. We then told him, the price was very affordable, due to the pandemic we did not have the money to fix it now. He then told us let me see what I can do for you guys today to fix the car since it is not safe for your wife to drive in that condition. And then he made the price even more affordable where it was no longer an issue we could get the car fix immediately. We paid him right there and then. Nathan made sure to call us every step of the way since pep boy had to order the part from the ford dealership for replacement. Walked in 5 mins before closing. A man named james was outside smoking a cigg or talking to another co worker , as we walk in he comes in to tell us " what can we help u find ?" , I reply nothing, he then says " well we are closing in two mins" . As i walk to one isle and out there other a lady is there to ask me if im ready to check out, as i continue to shop, maybe its 6:02pm at this point, they ask me again if im ready. In retail you know someones ready to pay when they are in line. I just bought 3 tires from this location last week. I have worked in numerous retail companies and locations and you never rush a client to shop or get out. I guess he never saw a pep boys commercial stating they are always there to help. I went to simply get some Plasti Dip. One gentleman at the tires counter just pointed to an area. As I walked over, another gentleman greeted me by the name of Brandon. He helped me choose the right color, the right paint, and even gave me tips on how easy it is, and how to properly apply it. The young man even walked out with me to my car so he could see what job I had in mind and how to properly go about it. This was a nice visit. I'll be back again. read more

Would not recommend this shop...wait at least another day and go to your local mom and pop shop or at least another pep boys location, if you must. Brought my car in for a routine battery change. First, they put the wrong battery in the car, it was too big. So I thought okay no big deal I'll get the smaller one. Well after speaking with the rep he assured me they didn't carry the smaller battery anymore. Well again this was a lie, upon speaking with another member of pep boys the did have the correct size battery. Oh did I mention they broke my battery cover forcing the first oversized battery into my car..yeah. But it gets better, upon attempting to leave pep boys...my brakes had were gone...yes my brakes. No exaggeration. Knowing about my car which I've done a lot of work on, I popped the good to find out that one of my vacuum hoses (the one right next to my battery) was broken. Now I can understand while removing the battery you may bump something, but the fact that the mechanic denied touching anything really got me going. I came in with brakes, and left without them. Thank goodness I drive a manual and could just pull the e-brake to stop. The next day I told the manager what had happened and he showed no emotion at all. He agreed to submit a claim to have the cameras in the shop reviewed, but to this day they never gave me a call back following up with what Pepboys had decided in regards to the incident...don't go here, there are plenty of better shops. read more

BE AWARE! They test drive your car when you ask for oil change! I did not look up those reviews because I just needed an oil change. I made a big mistake. Now I know why this pepboy got such negative reviews. Although I made an appointment, Ian, the front desk, told me to come back in an hour, then changed to 45 mins, then said he would call. I went to other stores, but decided to returned earlier. I saw the mechanic walked out of my car with greasy brown bag. I did not want to believe that he took my car to buy his lunch because I wanted to believe human has basic moral. I was WRONG. After opened my car door, the entire car smelled like fried chicken, side door had greasy oil ink. Radio was turned way up, the radio channel was changed, and AC was turned on (it was off when I dropped the car). I called back to speak to the manager, he had Ian called me back. All Ian can say is "we apologize" "we cannot reach the mechanic" "the mechanic (Danny) could be testing the AC". I asked why he needed to change my radio channel and brought food to my car. Ian can't answer. I asked to speak to manager again. He actually told me that they test drive every car. REALLY! test drive people's car with food when they request oil change??? I have never heard of such thing! The manager obviously had no patience to hear what you have to say. Whatever you said, he interrupted "what do you want me to do" So I asked him "what can you do?" He said i can give you money back, you have to come to store. They also did not record your accurate mileage (you know why? Just go some where else. This store is so poorly run. Made on line appt with details they request on car and service I wanted. All from drop down menu so it was exactly what they needed. Drive to appt to be told they don't have staff to address issue and they don't work on my make and model....and he kept telling me "Thank You" Odd, wierd, frustrating and stupid business practice. Called Cust service to complain and they said regional would call back in 48 hrs,,,,guess what no call back. Handle issue myself for $40 bucks verses their charge of $99. read more

The level of dishonesty from this shop is astounding to me. On 9/14/15, @ 36,356 miles I brought my Fiat for its oil change with a $49.99 coupon for a full synthetic oil change. The price was not honored, I was presented a bill for $74.93 being told a "special" filter had to be ordered that cost more. Not withstanding that no other shop like Midas or Jiffy Lube, or even the dealership, had ever upcharged me for a special filter, PepBoys didn't bother to call to obtain my consent for an extra surcharged part. After complaining, the manager said he would honor the discounted price upon my next oil change. Fast forward to today, 12/9 at 40,045 miles (3,500 miles since the oil change) the change oil light has come on in my car! So not only was I upcharged, but clearly they purposefully did not use synthetic oil in my car. I'm livid. I will never take my car to this shop again. SHAME ON YOU. read more

I came in to get an oil change and my brakes checked. I was told by Matthew the service would take an hour. After an hour I returned to see that my car hadn't been moved from where I parked it. I asked again about my car being serviced and was told by Matthew they would start it right away. After waiting an additional 30 minutes my car had not even been looked at and was still not moved from where I parked it. I went back to the service counter to see everyone casually having a conversation so I asked for my key back. I will not be returning to this location. read more
