The day after my arrival to Sedona, AZ, I drove to Pep Boys in Flagstaff, AZ, to have my rental car coolant refilled with coolant. The Pep Boys technician who helped me was very friendly and pleasant. He mentioned that the generic brand coolant would do just fine, but I wanted the real deal since I was travelling a distance. He understood and obliged. He refilled the coolant with the Toyota pink coolant to the full line accordingly. Thank you sir! I believe his name was Tim... sorry if it's not... I just remember his name started with a T... if that's not either, so sorry I forgot... it's been more than 2 months since my road trip till now... this is a delayed review LOL). Thank you for all your help. I appreciate you. This is what customer service should be... having the staff that attends to their customer needs and having the inventory in stock at all times. I understand due to circumstance not all can be accommodated every single time, but we'll take what we can get as customers. Had a Land Cruiser break down with a coolant leak. They tried to tell me that I blew my head gasket. Took it to a different mechanic and it was a radiator hose that blew. Wouldn't recommend going there. Compression test showed blue fluid when it should have been yellow or green if the head gasket is blown. New mechanic ran the test 3 times with no issues. Would avoid taking your car there. Staff was very friendly and helpful but I don't think the mechanic was very knowledgeable. 1 star for mechanic, 4 stars for front desk staff read more

Took my SUV in for a routine oil change. I was told I needed new valve cover gaskets, a new oil pan, an oil pan gasket, a new oil pressure switch, and a brake fluid flush. I was handed an estimate for over $1400. I come from a family of mechanics, both sides, I paid attention over the decades. I went home and checked my valve cover gaskets and my oil pan. I did notice they made a huge mess with oil everywhere which is the reason for the oil smell. After three days and nights, no oil leak from my oil pan or valve covers. I phoned our family mechanic up, who is my uncle, and we crawled under the SUV. Nothing. We degreased the engine and washed it down. Pep Boys charge for just a new oil pan $565. Rock Auto is $187. - Don't need it. Pep Boys cost for oil pressure switch $153. AutoZone was $18. - Didn't need it. We found out they didn't reset the oil pressure switch on the dashboard. I learned two new things today: installing an oil pressure switch on my own and resetting the dashboard. Changed it anyway since I bought it. The brake fluid was clear. Never needed a brake fluid flush. SMH. On top of all this, my oil change was $79.99. I always keep my invoices and they changed it back to $21.94. Come on Pep Boys! Ripping women off! Sorry Pep Boys, this girl knows her engines and auto parts guru is just what I do for a side hobby. What did this cost me in the end? $18 for an oil pressure switch and $70 to my uncle for vehicle inspection, cleaning the engine, checking my gaskets, replacing my oil pressure switch, and teaching this girl a little more about engine maintenance. Brought my 1993 Ford Econoline van to this Pep Boys 3735 N Kasper Rd in Flagstaff Arizona. I was having some engine trouble. It would die when idling. I waited four days before they got back to me and they told me that the first thing that they needed to do was change my spark plugs. At that point alarm bells and red flags started going off in my head because I knew it wasn't the spark plugs, I told them that they were brand new Motorcraft spark plugs I didn't even have 5000 miles on them at that point. The service advisor told me that if I didn't wanna follow their recommendations I could come pick it up and take it somewhere else. So I told him that's what I was going to do, the next day I came to pick up my vehicle and the service advisor argued with me that I should leave the vehicle and let the work be performed. I told him I didn't want to argue about it. I just wanted to pick my vehicle up and leave, but he continue to argue with me about, why I should leave it and have the work performed. I finally had to become forceful with him and tell him that I did not want to have the work performed I just wanted to take my vehicle and leave.. At that point he said he didn't like my attitude and he said that I could not wait in the lobby for the tow truck to come pick up my vehicle. I had to wait outside, it's 20° above zero outside, I'm 70 years old and he wouldn't let me wait inside the lobby for the tow truck to come get my vehicle. What a nightmare, I couldn't believe this was happening to me!! I asked to use the restroom and he wouldn't let me do that either. I give this Pep Boys in FLAGSTAFF, AZ a 0 star rating. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE service. They replaced my tires which took a half hour longer than they stated it would take at most. I wasn't too bothered by that because they informed me they were working on a TPMS sensor that was giving them some trouble. Once done, they assured me that it was good to go and I shouldn't have any issues. After leaving, the TPMS alert went off. I tried calling this location multiple times but they would not pick up. I had to bring my car to Toyota who removed the tires for me and sent me pictures of my sensor that was obviously BROKEN AND TAPED BACK TOGETHER!!! I physically went to pep boys and asked them to make this right. The manager was extremely rude, treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about, and wouldn't even let me get two words in. He dictated that they would replace it with an aftermarket part and that I would have to pay for it. I told them they broke an original Toyota part and it needs to be replaced with another original Toyota part and I shouldn't have to pay for them breaking it. He refused and said only an aftermarket part out of my pocket and claimed the images Toyota sent me were fake. What?!? So they belittle me and they want me to settle for a cheaper part that wasn't the original one they broke on my car?? Out of my pocket?? I just simply wanted my car back to the way it was before the issue. I get a business being careful of scamming customers lying, but there was no broken TPMS sensor noted when they replaced my tires and my TPMS system worked fine before I went there. I was treated like I was a liar but it was clear they broke the part, especially when they emphasized the difficult time they had with the sensor. I thought coming here was the right decision with the military discount they offer but it turns out they treat Veterans horribly. Worst customer service I've ever had at a tire shop, I made a mistake not going to Discount Tire. This place treats their customers like garbage! My family and I will never go here again and I don't recommend you do either. read more

I would give it a zero star rating. My boyfriend and I were staying in Williams and noticed a chunk on the tread was gone from previously driving earlier in the day. At 4:40pm we attempted to call them and they hung up immediately. No answer or anything. That should have been the first red flag. So we saw online they closed at 6pm. We drove all the way to flagstaff, got there at 5:03pm then we went up to the door and it was locked. MIND you the hours on the door and online say 6pm every day. So then we call them and they actually answer this time! Ironic because they knew they were closed so that's the only reason they answered. Apparently on Saturday they close at 5pm. Thanks for not answering the phone at 4:40 to tell us that. Instead you wasted 1 hr of our time and a risk of our tire just to go there. What really upset us is that there were even workers who we could see and they just ignored us. Definitely will never come here for anything. I wouldn't trust Pep Boys with anything beyond very simple maintenance tasks. We took our van to them to get the alternator replaced, but after a week, they still couldn't get it working right. A different mechanic told us they Pep boys had installed the wrong alternator, but Pep Boys refused to listen and even blamed us that they couldn't get it to work (Eventually we had the other mechanic put in the correct alternator and now the van runs great). This was THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD with an auto mechanic. read more

Did an appointment online and got a confirmation that was misleading. System generates a confirmation and tells you it's confirmed but store needs to agree to appointment confirmation. If there are no appointments available for a certain day then there needs to be no available times on your website because I came up here all the way from Prescott because I needed a tire repair fast because my tire was losing pressure fairly quickly in a matter of hours. Got an oil/filter change, tire rotation, new air filter and wheel alignment. I was very impressed by the service manager, Jimmy, as he was personable, courteous, knew what he was doing and honest. I had asked for a new air filter and Jimmy came back with both my old one and a new one and said my old one was still pretty clean and that I didn't need a new one. They could have put the new one in and never told me that. That's honesty and I appreciated it. Also, the service tech, Alex, did a great job with the oil change, etc., and when I got into the car it the steering wheel wasn't dirty nor the carpet, which I also appreciated as many techs make a mess! While traveling back home to Texas from our family vacation in California we began having car trouble. The car wouldn't stop shaking. We assumed that our front passenger tire was out of balance somehow from the long drive. We drove from town to town looking for something that was open late on a Friday night (it was after 6 pm). We had no luck until I called pep boys! I let them know what was going on and that we were traveling cross country with two young kids. They said they were open until 8 and the mechanic said he would be happy to squeeze us in! They checked our tires and discovered that the front driver side tire had separated and literally could have blown at any time while we had been driving! These guys got us taken care of quickly and we were back on the road before they even closed! So very thankful for these two guys! read more

I called Pep Boys in Flagstaff AZ and asked if they could price match a price I got from Sam's Club on some tires they said they could. It took them three weeks to get the tires ordered and in there store. I get there to get them installed and the installation was good but there customer service sucked at the front counter from a 9year plus associate. I was was told the price was 809 dollars out the door when he rang me up it was 1079. I was surprised when I even showed him my quote from Sam's Club he still was trying to charge me 935 dollars. I ended up paying 891.27 dollars. The associate there was trying to make it like I was getting a deal when the quote was 809 out the door just like Sam's club I felt robbed and tooken advantage of. He said this was supposed to be his big ticket of the day like he knew that he was not going to fallow threw with the price match. I hope this does not happen to anybody else very disappointed with this store. read more

The people at this shop sold me tires that were poorly designed for our area. They said the tires were rated fine for the area, but the reality is they have no traction in the snow. I specifically asked about how well the tires would do in this area and they responded positively. When I talked to them about the tires after getting stuck in 2 inches of snow (not ice), they said all they could do is tell me the tire is snow and mud rated. Apparently, they can not look at a tread themselves and know how well the tire will respond. Even though they are a tire shop, they appear to know nothing about tires. If you need tires, take your business elsewhere. read more

The clerk when I hadn't found another pair of fuzzy dice for my rearview mirror at O'Reilly's and asked me if I wanted it replaced . I said yes in a matter of minutes the fuzzy dice came to Pep Boys.
