The Foley location really needs a new manager. He hasn't stuck by one thing he has said. My husband has worked there almost a month. He was told mechanics don't have to work Saturday or Sunday unless they want to. My husband his first week works 11 days straight. And he has worked Monday - Friday and every Sunday. Then gave him something. Got made that he quit and said that he would get him for theft. WTH!! I could go on and on but I am not. I am hoping that corporate will see this and get back to me. Was quoted at $900 with a part that supposedly cost $600 and 2-3 hours of labor. Got a second opinion fixed the problem myself for $80 in 15 mins. Manager literally had me wait in the waiting room to go get chicken and didn't follow up. They charged me for an engine diagnostic of my car previously and even charged me without even actually looking at it and it admitted to doing just that. Actual scammers. I'm not buying your Christmas or your kids sorry ,not sorry. Stay far away from this place if you value speed or honesty.One of the worst shops in foley easily. Absolute shit show. Took my husband's car in for a/c repair twice. First day they called and said it was ready. $120 and 15 mins after picking it up it wasn't blowing cold air anymore. Took it back up there they found a leak and said they were going to replace the hoses. Went to pick it back up and all they did was replace the O rings. $330 and 15 mins after picking it up again and no cold air. Waste of $450. We WILL NOT do business with them again. Went there for ac service repair. Bottom line is I got ripped off $185.00. Told me they would do a diagnostic test with dye. We waited and then was told it was ready to go with cold air. The very next day no ac at all. Went back and they put my car in the shop again. Told me it had a leak in a line/hose and said they could not fix it. I ask about the $185 and was told that all they would do is put Freon back in for free once I got the line fixed myself somewhere else. I've been told that pep boys is the place to go to if you want to have an inspection done for rideshare in Alabama. I've come to this pep boys four times now, asking to have this done. Each time they have a different excuse why they cannot do it. They are either backed up or they don't have an extra tech working today. I had a good experience here. I got a nice set of Cooper tires and at a good price. They even replaced a brake light for free. Therefore I recommend this particular pep-boys. He's my only complaint: I think the manager Jared is a little cocky. I was calling around tire shops to get pricing. When Jared answered I explained that I would like to get a price for some tires. He immediately said: "would you like me to give you the price of all 900 tires we have in stock?" Jared is an obviously intelligent young man, but I believe he thinks that means everyone else around him is not intelligent. Jared there is no reason to speak to your customers that way, being condescending comes across as arrogance. Or maybe it's just insecurity. But I'm writing this review so that perhaps Jared will read it, and change his approach. I almost didn't visit the location because of Jared and his condescending comment. They are always really nice and helpful here..we blew some fuses in our car and the fuse box is in a ridiculous location..you have to lay on the floor by drivers seat to even get to it ..I tried ,hubby tried but it's way too difficult..so he took it to pep boys and although they were very nice about it nothing they could do as they are not allowed to go into a person's car during covid..so now we may just have to wait for repairs like we are waiting to go to drs for labs etc..hating this but better to be safe.. read more

We waited an hour and a half before we finally just asked for our keys back and went next door- where we were in and out in 3 MINUTES! 3! This Pep Boys has the laziest employees I've ever encountered- there were always at least 4 employees behind the counter hamming it up while there was no one in the slips working on cars. They wouldn't even LOOK at our car in the hour and a half we were there to even determine what the heck was even wrong with it! Total trashy place- the bathrooms were worse than a porta potty at a chili festival. I'm not kidding you- don't waste your time and hard earned money. I will never go back to pep boys. I bought some BFGoodrich all-terrain tires for my truck from Tire Rack. They sent me to pep boys because they were the local authorized installer. I honestly have never used them nor will I again. I also got an alignment, and told them that the front end felt loose, and then it pulled hard right when braking. They called me 4 hours later and told me my truck was done. Upon picking it up, I asked the man of the counter if they had reset my tire pressure monitoring system, and I was assured he did. I was also told that the technician test drove my vehicle and everything was fine, and that I needed no additional repairs. My truck has 175,000 mi on it, and nothing's been done. He also told me to call him if there was any issues. I called him because there were issues. He didn't return my call. The steering wheel after the alignment was 3 in to the left, I now have tire pressure lights, and I'm not registering any pressures. I also get a bad vibration in the rear over 55. On top of that, my truck is GMC 2500 HD. It requires 10 ply tires. They require 65 lb of pressure in the front and 80 lb in the rear. They put 38 lb of air in all four of my tires. So everything I asked them to do was done incorrectly. I called the store, emailed the company, and sent them a direct message on Facebook. I I was told that someone would call me within 48 hours. I never heard from anyone. I will never return, and I will be a negative advocate forever. Don't waste your time. read more

Made a 10:00am appointment days earlier to get my tires changed (they are at a life threatening stage) and made sure I took that day off work just in case because it just can't wait any longer! I don't have alternative transportation or anyone near by that can pick me up, no biggy, I'll walk around a bit and get some exercise. Six hours later, no call, email or text and the online app just set idle at the "Appointment Confirmed" stage. So I walk in at 4:00pm and ask about my vehicle. I'm told "He's on lunch, he'll be back any minute." ok, no problem, a mans got to eat, so again I go out and find a place to chill for another hour and a half, still nothing. At this time I can't wait any longer, my entire day has been wasted and I feel I have been more patient then most people would have been. I tell them I got to go and the guy at the counter says, we only have one tire guy working... Ok, isn't the point of making appointments so you can plan ahead for what you are going to need? In the end, Seven and a half hours wasted, no courtesy calls, no action to even attempt to save a customer. I have no good reasons to even consider returning to this company. And after reading the reviews on this site and others, I really have to blame myself for not doing the research! I have found other places with much better reviews. I felt like a useless low end priority here. Will not make this mistake again and I hope others don't waste their time like I have. read more

I worked at this store when it was Big 10 tires. So I figured I would swing by and get two tires for the front of my truck and an alignment. They also had them in stock. Just a warning if you want two tires on the front. It is pep boys policy that they will not put two new tires on the front. They will only put them in the back and move the back ones to the front. BS policy!!!! So I would've paid almost 700 for 2 tires and an alignment. For them to not do what I ask. I pay 100% of the money you do 100% of what I ask of you. It's that simple. I was also told I would be out by 7:00pm. There is only one man in the shop. And one man in the office. The man in the shop is doing EVERYTHING!!!!! Tires, alignments, oil changes etc. The guy in the office that promised I would be out by 7 is doing what I can only assume he does best. NOTHING!!! Sitting on his rump while the man outside works his tail off. Perfect example of how not to be a leader. I own a small business and if that how my managers or foreman worked. I would fire them on the spot. This place is an absolute joke of a business. I wouldn't take or advise anyone to take anything to this place. I pulled in right at closing I guess with a flat tire on a Sunday evening. My granddaughter and I needed help changing the tire. The employee offered to put air in the tire only, and NOT assist any further due to the store closing shortly. Needless to say, my granddaughter and I got stranded with a flat tire trying to find an open business to help us. The Bay doors were open, and there were other customers. I called to get out the door pricing for tires prior to making appointment. Aaron (turns out is a salesman who works on commission), agreed to match Pep Boys online pricing and promotions (duh). I agreed. Made appointment. Bait and switch. These assholes tried to charge me $200 more than advertised price and basically called me a liar (I'm a lawyer from TN). They have a "complimentary" service to check everything on your vehicle - then try to charge you diagnostic fees and when they finally waive it, they've somehow done you a favor. Oh, and btw, their company coupons? They say they don't have to honor them once your car is there??! What? Ultimately I've been overcharged $66.62 after vigorously arguing with the manager. Could be worse, sure, but no one should have to endure this when there are plenty of honest, reputable businesses out there. read more

So I'm going to drive for Lyft part time and they require inspections by PepBoys (unfortunately). I chose the Foley location for convenience since not all of them do it. Still 40 minutes from me. I called to confirm my appointment. Guy said he'd fit me in though I had a 10:00am appointment. So I just went in and this guy says it may be a while because the guy who does it may be a while. So he goes out to ask where the guy is and they say "oh he ain't doing nothing". Then the dude is real disappointed he may have to help me so then says ok do you have a form from Lyft. I said nope, don't need it. (He got the information from them. He's just making an excuse) So I offered to provide it from my phone and he says he can't print it. I told him if I email it to you now, you can print it right there on that printer. "Oh nah that's not connected". I called Saturday morning to see if they could do an oil change and patch my front tire that had been leaking. They said no problem, come on in. We left immediately, were there within 20 minutes. We sat there for a little over 2 hrs. When my car was finally ready I asked him if they had found the hole in my tire, he said they forgot to check it.. so we went and sat longer while they "fixed" my tire. One week later, having aired it up once already I called around 6:30 and spoke with someone who told me to bring it in early Sunday morning and they would get it fixed. My husband gets there at 9:30 only to be told that we would have to leave my car for 2-3hrs for a tire patch... that they didn't fix correctly the first time. My husband had to work that day so that wasn't possible and honestly leaving my car for 2-3 hrs for a tire patch seemed ridiculous. He went to walmart and they fixed what Pepboys couldn't in 20 minutes. We won't be back. read more

This is truley the way a business should be run!! Our church youth group was in Orange Beach during a Student Life event in June 2011. On the way there from Mississippi, the van I was driving was experiencing brake problems about the same time we reached our destination. I looked up the nearest brake repair shop and found these guys. They did an excellent job repairing the problem, didn't over diagnose the problem just to run the bill up and was very easy to deal with and talk to. They took the time to make sure I understood what the problems were and had us going again in no time. I felt so comfortable with them that I let them check out the second van for any potential problems. They didn't find any immediate problems but recommended having some thing checked out when I got back home and didn't charge a penny for the inspection. There really are businesses out there that care about their customers and Big 10 in Foley is one. I and our small group of 30 appreciate your care and attention to details! Went in for two tires and an alignment. Had to wait in the store for at least half an hour just to find out if they could do it. They said they would call when done, and we left two numbers but never got a call. Car was not ready until the next day, then had to wait 45 minutes when we went to pick it up, just to find out they had put on the tires without doing the alignment, so we have to drive around and let the misalignment do more damage to our tires until we get a chance to take to spend another day at another place getting an alignment. They also left grease marks in the car. read more

I had my 3 kids in the car, all 5 and under, for the start of our vacation. Over halfway there I started getting a tire pressure alert. I stopped frequently putting air just in case, knowing I had a slow leak. Once in Foley I stopped at the Pep Boys and they were a breath of fresh air. My vehicle was loaded down but they still managed to change my tire without making my kids get out of the car. Even double checking I had the air on for them assuring me it was fine for the car to be on. I was in and out. Thinking it was going to dip into our vacation funds I was expecting a high price for a new tire but not at all. They didn't over charge at all, in fact I felt guilty for not paying more! Came in today to take advantage of my road hazard warranty. I had ran over a nail which I initially thought was in the side wall of the tire. The employees took the time to compile the best plan of attack for me to get a new tire with discounted rates. Shortly there after we came to the conclusion that the nail was in a location that could be repaired. They promptly preformed the repair so I could make it to my next appointment on time. Lack of Integrity, Caring or Honor. It's an old story but it's always hard to swallow when those three words are not developed within the fabric of a corporation like Pep Boys. I had to go out of town in two days for a not to be missed meeting and my back wheel popped a bubble in it. I called several tire suppliers in town only to be sold on the services of Pep Boys Foley due to a drastic difference in cost where there price was the cheapest. They told me that by 12:30 the next day they would have the tires in and they could get me changed out and on my way. I clarified with great clarity the urgency of the situtation and great confidence was given to me of their ability to make this happen. The next day at 1PM I called to be told that no shipment had arrived yet but that isn't unusual as they normally don't get their shipment in until 4 pm or so. This concerned me since this is not what I was told just 24 hours earlier but I was not moved and I went on about my day without care. I did call every 90-minutes in hopes that the shipment arrived and I could check that off my to do list. Alas, 4:30 rolls around and the shimpment of tires came in but mine were not to be found. Charlie answered the phone and told me that he would find out what had happend and call me "right back." Not only did Charlie not call me right back but Pep Boys literally stopped answering their phones when I called back. To tell you what I had to go through to get to my not to be missed meeting would take too long but I did make it regardless of Foley's Pep Boys lack of integrity and caring. I'm sure if you roll in and they have what you need in stock and it's a common service to be performed that you can get good service there. If you have anything that is out of the oridinary, don't allow a low price to convince you that you will get what they are offering. This is a corporate issue at Pep Boys as the ratings for their stores all over are lower than locallly owned and operated businesses. It's a lack of integrity, caring and honoring their customers that allow for this type of poor service to be continually offered to the public. It's also why Pep Boys is not twice they size that they could be. I suggest they go read, 'From Good to Great.' Until then, they are just the Kmart of the auto-service industry. read more

I am beyond furious at the moment. Typically when I go into pep boys the men are always kind and polite and they joke around with me And I always leave feeling pretty decent. I went about 2 weeks ago to get an oil change and for some reason they weren't as friendly. I just brushed it off at the time, like we all have bad days. Anyways the dude comes out and starts chastising me for not changing my oil sooner. In his defense he was right. But also, it's none of his business what my financial situation is or anything. So I was slightly offended but I left and said thank you and all that. Well 2 weeks later I'm driving down the road and come to find out that they didn't put any freaking oil back into my car! So they come out and yell at me like I'm their daughter, but won't put oil back in my car?!? I am FURIOUS. I have never been so disgusted by a mechanic. Luckily I called them and one of the kinder guys answered and is being very cooperative with me, but I probably will never go back after they fix my car. How you gonna call yourself a mechanic and not put the oil back into someone's car??? That's my LIFE. What if I had been driving down the interstate and my engine blew up and I caused a 30 car pile up?! Honestly pep boys better fix my car and do it right. I am SO unhappy. read more

I have been driving around for a month enjoying the cool spring not worrying about AC and bam the hot weather hit and turned AC on and it didn't blow cold at all, had the old man look at it and he fussed I'm not an AC repairman.... we have had to add coolant in the past, so. But my biggest problem was we live on rural dirt road, and after a bad rain a part of it can get really bad and I almost got stuck the day before so driving to work the steering wheel was vibrating and I couldn't drive over 50. So I asked the old man again to wash the car and be sure and get all the mud out of the tires. I even tipped him. So driving to work Monday it still vibrates and scares me that that road has done something really bad this time. So I go to Pep Boys and leave it as I work about a mile away and coworker picked me up and took me the rest of the way to work. so they had all afternoon with it. I got there at 6pm and they were laughing, they showed me all the red clay in the driveway they washed out of the tires, the manager even took a picture of the caked mud before hand. So much for tipping the old man! Then they still had to add coolant, which they put a dyed one in so they can tell where the leak is when it runs out and I come back. They finish up and we are last to leave and I say ok how much is the damage. They said nothing today. Wow, now they should and could have charged for the coolant. It was really nice they didn't charge for the mud, I think it was comic relief for the day. But when the coolant runs out you can be sure I'll take it back to let them fix the leak where ever it is, Thanks Guys! Was quoted $200 to change a headlight BULB. Was told by the adviser that they would have to remove the entire front of my car. I advised that I had changed the low beam bulb myself before and you just have to go through the wheel well. Again, the adviser told me I was wrong. Went into my glove box and pulled out the receipt from a pep boys 25 miles away that shows $20 labor, and $14.99 bulb. Again, the advisor told me I was mistaken. This location proved to be almost impossible to work with. Both when I called and when my wife and I arrived I made it very clear what we needed. This proves to be an effort in futility, however, as they consistently mistook my meaning. Furthermore, they tried several time to charge me for parts that I bought elsewhere and brought with me. Beyond this, when I asked how long the service would take, I was quoted at "about an hour". I was the one of two customers there on this day. Half an hour later, I was told that it would still be "about an hour". Prior to even working on the car, it took over 40 minutes for the person working the desk to find two wheel nuts. After telling us for the second time that it would be "about an hour" there was still no one working on the car, and they indicated that they still needed to collect some information about the car prior to working on it. When I asked what information, I was told it was only the VIN and mileage they lacked. Half an hour to find that information?! The gentleman working the front desk bears the brunt of my ire, as he was consistently confused by my request (change a tire, two wheel nuts, two wheel studs), kept trying to charge me more, took an unbelievably long time to do anything, and kept me at the front desk when he did not need me and when I could be walking across the street to collect the rest of the needed parts. No one behaved professionally, and their conduct with the other customer's car indicated that they did not know too much about cars in general. I will NOT be visiting this location again. Oh, my wife reminds me that they ended up waiving a $50 fee for replacing one of the wheel studs. This thorough cataloging of redemptive actions is probably why she is called my better half. Personally, I would have rather thrown the entire price of the service down the toilet than visit here again. But, hey, at least they waived that $50 bucks. read more

This is now Pep Boys... I was visiting my daughter in Gulf Shores and we had just taken her car to a dealership in Enterprise, AL....and received the news - she needed front end alignment, 2 new tires, and new rear brakes and rotors because the rotors were worn though- to the tune of about $600-$700. We took the car home. Her dad took care of getting her tires and I was still a bit concerned about the brakes and front end, so I took it to what I thought was Big 10 Tires in Foley. Turns out - it is now Pep Boys. I did not have an appointment, I just showed up and explained what the dealership had said about the car. (oh, and there was a vibration at 51-53 mph which the dealership told me the front end alignment would take care of - even I know this was questionable, at best)... My daughter's car was taken in quickly and everything was checked out. I was surprised to see someone coming over and checking everything which had been done and doing things like checking lugnuts, etc. When I asked I was told the Mechanic checks all of the work done by others (workers). This impressed me. After a very short time, I was told the vehicle was ready. As I stood, poised, at the check out counter, the gentleman behind the counter went over each and every item: 1) The front tires were out of balance- so they balanced them 2) The car was put on the front end alignment machine and was found to be in alignment 3) The brakes were good for another 2000-3000 miles - but when they were changed, the right rear rotor would need to be changed as well because it was apparent some piece of debris had gotten lodged between the pad and the rotor and wore a small groove in the rotor. I thanked the gentleman and he handed me the receipt and thanked me for stopping in... I asked what I owed, and he replied, "Nothing, it is all part of the service we offer" WOW! I was so pleasantly surprised! I told my daughter all about the events of the morning and explained how this is where she needs to go for all maintenance for her car. It is nice to know there are qualified people in the world who make it their business to see you are safe and secure in your vehicle. This place is like the local mechanic to whom we all brought our vehicles. I feel so at ease knowing she will have someone to call if something happens to her car in the future!
