I'm EXTREMELY grateful to PepBoys and Andrew, in particular, for taking such great care of me. I was running errands and turned a corner and suddenly heard a very loud noise and new something was wrong. 20 seconds later my tire light came on. Thank goodness I was literally 1 block from PepBoys. I turned into the parking lot, jumped out of the car and had a completely flat tire. Andrew helped me right away and provided excellent customer service. I mentioned that I had an all-wheel drive car (Honda CRV) and the last time something like this happened I needed to replace all 4 tires, not just one. He tested the tires and knew they were not very worn (which was correct) and recommended replacing 2 (not 4) due to the measurements, but I wanted all 4 tires to match and asked for an estimate for 4 tires, which was about $750. Ugh!! After waiting a short while in the waiting room, Andrew came back to tell me that the flat tire was salvageable. What the heck!!?? He said the tire popped from a nail, which meant it could be fixed (FYI: my previously popped tire was a huge gash from running into a curb, which could not be fixed). End result: The initial $750 estimate, turned into $21 out the door. Just wow! I was soooooo happy. PepBoys could have just replaced all 4 tires, which is what I asked for, and I never would have known a thing. $750 gone like that! But they saw it wasn't necessary and brought it to my attention. I went in to get my AC serviced. It felt like my car ac wasn't blowing cold. They did a diagnosis and found out that it was fine and it did blow out cold air. Anyhow, he could have easily charged me for the service and I wouldn't have been the wiser. I of course had to pay for the diagnosis, but he applied a coupon for $40 and I walked away paying almost nothing for it. Had an 11 am appt for (1) new tire...Showed up at 2:30 after being told it would on be an hour and half...My car was in the parking lot and still no new tire. I was told they were waiting on a bay to become available....odd I parked my car in front of a bay at 11 that was finishing up on a car. Took my car in today for the oil change. I made my appointment a couple days ago for an 8 AM appointment today. The young man working the counter was super polite and greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked in. I got my car registered really fast. I decided to wait there for my car to be done. My car was done in a pretty reasonable amount of time, same amount of time as it would've been if I would've taken it to the dealership for my oil change. They have a cute little waiting area. Went in for a simple tire rotation for my Tesla. Nothing fancy. Quick job. I did not have an appointment. At the desk the receptionist had told me it was gonna be around an hour wait. I was good with that. What happened, was vastly different. Nearly 3 hours later my car hadn't even been touched. In fact the lady that came in behind me also with no appointment requesting a full on oil change managed to get serviced and completed before I decided enough was enough. All I kept hearing from the receptionist and what I'm assuming is the manager was that my car was next. Bullshit... That never happened. I simply asked for my keys and left, no apologies, no nothing.. This was my first time here and with how things were handled it'll certainly be my last. Thanx for lack of service. I just want to start this review by saying my expectations going in were pretty low. Because most auto/tire shops that I've experienced have been less than stellar. (Unfair...I Know) Well, this Pep Boys location superseded the standard when it comes to customer service, cleanliness, execution & efficiency! I went in for a simple car inspection. I notice sometime in the auto industry if it's not a big job, customers tend to get rushed sucky service. Not this time. From jump I was acknowledged, quoted a time frame (which was met) & treated like a valued customer even though I wasn't spending a large amount of money this time. I truly appreciated that. So when it comes to the big job, I will definitely go back to this location. Shout out to Alex who was extremely courteous and professional over the phone and in person. I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with any mechanic place I go to. I use to go to the dealer to get my car service or my the dude I was with would hook up my Princess Mobile but since those two options are out, I turn to Pep Boys. Over the years Pep Boys has not been very consistent and reliable. I told myself I would not come back to a Pep Boys in 2013/2014 as they were not consistent with their oil change prices and customer services was poor. However, I have had 90% good experiences recently from 2017 to present. 10% is them telling me to show up at 7am making an appointment to get my car serviced but no one is there really until 7:30 or later. Not a big issue but I'm a self centered Milleniel who hates waiting. Raul, I believe his name handled my situation like a champ. Great customer service and gave me a nice discount. He informed me that their technicians come in at 7:30am and doesn't know why some one on the phone put me down for an appointment at 7am, I don't know why either. But Raul, provided great service and even educated me on my poor car, he even took me back to my car to see why the work needs to be done on my car. First time I had such treatment. Pep Boys definitely needs too keep him around. I will be back :) and I would recommend to give them a try. Raul informed me my car will be around 1pm (I like to stay and not leave so I had my work in tow). However, Lester the service tech had it done around 10:30am which caught me off guard. Decent service but overpriced. I went to Pep Boys to replace a new battery. They charged me $403.74 for parts (the battery) and $25.99 for labor. The battery was from AutoZone, so I checked the price for it at AutoZone. With taxes, sale fees, and so on, the battery only costs $285.87. So it took me an extra $117.13 to get a new battery at Pep Boys, which was over 40% more than the retailer's price. And I know they can get a better deal than this price. Furthermore, it was even more expensive than the battery from Hyundai parts $372.84 (a different model of battery though). I understand there must be other indirect costs to run a business and provide service. I got good service here, but I don't think it is extraordinary that deserves such a high cost. For other customers: check the price before your visit. read more

Ordered a set of tires online to be installed at this location. The earliest appointment online was a week away and I needed the tires before then. I called the location and the person was able to offer an appointment two days later. All was well until I arrived for my appointment. I was told they didn't have the tires in stock. After expressing my unbelief that they would make an appointment and not be able to fulfill it, the counter person offered to send his runner to pick them up. There was nothing else he could do. I am forced to accept this as I need the tires and cannot go somewhere else. There is a customer service number on the order receipt. I called to ask for a remedy to the waste of my time, but all I got was "it takes 1 to 5 days to fulfill an online order. " I wouldn't recommend Pep-boys. read more

So..I was essentially scammed out of 500 dollars..had an a/c leak..couldn't find it, ac stopped working 3 days later, took it back the next week, and they found a leak. 2 days after that my ac died again another leak was found. So 500 dollars, 3 trips and over 9 hours total sitting and waiting. When I could have spent less if they did their job correctly..office staff is rude. When I complained, I got hung up on. If you are a young woman, PLEASE GO WITH A MALE. I should have kept my business in La & took that 3 1/2 drive instead of dealing with this place. Fraudulent behavior is practiced here & I would advice anyone that steps foot in this place to think twice about it. The mechanics worked on my car changing my spark plugs prior to performing a diagnostic test! I didn't even know if my spark plugs needed to be changed! I told the manager Blane that I may need my spark plugs changed but I didn't know Forsure so I needed a diagnostic test to specify the problem. Since changing my spark plugs, ignition coil and doing a fuel injection, I've revisited this location several times to resolve the problem & my car is still causing me trouble. I went in late Saturday night for headlight bulb replacement and was helped by Miguel who worked with me as I purchased the wrong bulb via autozone. It was a $70 service charge which at that point I just wanted my light in. I left after the service was completed but something was off, it was dim for it being a LED bulb so I went back within 20 minutes of leaving and was helped by Joshua who was incredibly helpful, polite and respectful. The bulb was installed incorrectly (not by Miguel, I don't know the name of worker) and had melted into my headlight casing. Joshua apologized for his employees mistake and followed protocol in the manner. They set my light straight temporarily, replacing my $131 bulb free of charge that same night. The following day Ricardo ordered my entire headlight replacement and installed it the next day. Thanks to Joshua and Ricardo I'm leaving a 5 star review because they acknowledged their mistake and took ownership of the issue and it was resolved within 3 days! They both were respectful and polite during my experience with them. Thank you guys!! Trustworthy and honest men I do recommend. read more

I wasn't big fan of Pepboys but my today's visit changed my opinion, I walked into the store and explained I need an oil change and settled with synthetic oil and asked about timelines, as I was without an appointment so they told me 2.5- 3 hrs, I was okay with it as I requested for drop off Now the whole thing changed, the moment I sign the document , I was told that I will get drop off in next 5 mins as they are done with customer in queue I patiently wait, meanwhile an another guy ( Suk) told me that my car is started, and now when I asked for the drop off, the guy changed his stand that this will take another 30-45?mins so it's worthless, I don't know why do they lie at first place And I wasn't the only one , I saw 4-5 ppl getting same answers And all of them walk away The only reason I am still able to give this place 5 stars was due to other guy (suk) , I wish they have more ppl like him read more

Went in today for my appointment at 9:00 installations of running boards on my suv, first that old man JP grumpy and rude don't know why he's at the front desk. When he gave the price it was a little over from the quote they gave me on the phone, anyway they took in my car. After an hour and a half I went outside to check on it, still nothing done to it, then when I went back in the guy said his "technician" couldn't work on it because the brackets didn't fit. I told him to put everything back in the car and get it out of there if there was nothing else they could do. Would like to start out by stating that I had used this location in the past with only minor unconvinced. However a few weeks ago, I went online and scheduled an appointment to get my oil changed. When I arrived at the location the whole place was under construction with nowhere to wait inside for my car to get serviced. More importantly I was told by the service representative at the front window that i didn't have an appointment and when I said yes I do and pulled out my phone to confirm, he said well actually it looks like we called you and cancelled your appointment and left you a message. I never received a call or email stating my appointment was cancelled. The representative then went on to say you can still get your car serviced today however without an appointment it will be a 2-4 hour wait. Bought new tires and asked to have mount balance and alignment. Left with new tires got on freeway a week later and Car shook violently. I've had some other issues tsp I Took it to Acura dealer. dealer says there no were no weights on your rims at all snd it's not aligned. Took back to pep boys thinking I'll give them another chance to fix this and fix another issue Acura wouldn't fix. Checked closing time internet says 7 getting ready to get my car and get a call at 6:05 from pep boys asking if I'm coming to get my car. I say I'm getting ready to leave now. Rep says we're uhhhhhh we're closed. I say internet says 7 he says we'll we're short staffed so we closed early at 6. So you decide to close early and call people after you're already closed. Its seems like everytime i come to this P/B, they have to order what I'm looking for!! They don't carry a master cylinder for a Ford!!! WTF!! The other places in town carry them!!! They have the usual stuff IE (tune up supplies and oil). The only reason i ordered it cause it was $25 cheaper than the other places and i wasn't in a rush to have it. Manager intentionally failed to disclose $35 labor charge for oil change!!! Horrible customer service by both the cashier and manager.Suspicious of a larger charge than I was originally quoted when setting up an appointment online, I asked the cashier and then the manager the break down of charges. Long story short, he left out the $35 labor charge! I knew something was way off but I kept being told that I was only charged for oil and an oil filter. After the service, I see the receipt and the extra charge that I was never informed of. I was charge $97 for my oil change when I was quoted for $59 The manager than calls me after I contact customer service and states "well, anywhere you go you get paid a labor charge everyone should know that. It's not my fault you expected me to go line by line with you on everything." I was clearly missing a reason for a third of my costs and requested clarification. At that point the labor charge should have been disclosed and it wasn't. I received no apology for this and instead got talked to as if I'm unintelligent. Booked an appointment for an oil change. I am from out of town and due to lease restrictions on my car, PepBoys and AAMCO are the only licensed service providers in the Fresno area I can use my vehicle maintenance program with, without additional charges. Upon booking an appt. on the PEPBOYS website, I was met with a voicemail several minutes later from an employee named Raul. I called him back and he was very polite and apologetic, but informed me that he could not honor the appointment as they were basically overbooked for the day. I was told the earliest available appt. would be in two days, on Wednesday. I explained that I am from out of town and leaving tomorrow, and that mentioned the lease vehicle maintenance program I have in terms of utilizing PEPBOYS or AAMCO (of which there isnt one in the area). He understood my dilemma and mentioned I could come in and wait, but it would be a very long wait time (a couple hours) depending on the continued walk-ins against their already booked schedule. He advised me there are several other PEPBOYS locations in Fresno. It was very helpful as I am not familiar with the town. Rather than abandon the problem at hand, Raul did take the time to listen and refer me to other locations. It was very nice of him. I immediately looked up the other locations and called the Blackstone location. I reached an individual named Harold. This experience was quite the polar opposite of Raul, as Harold was gruff in his communication and actually just downright rude with his responses to me asking if there were available appt. slots today and/or what the wait time was... After mentioning three times, that I was inquiring about open slots for an oil change (due to him continually cutting me off), he rudely said "no. it's 3 1/2 hour wait!" I thanked him and ended the call. His demeanor left a sour taste. Perhaps he was having a bad morning, but it is not something that needs to be projected to customers calling in to make a simply inquire that could give them work. This just goes to show how locations can definitely differ in their customer service tactics. One good... one just questionable! In recognition of this experience, the actual PEPBOYS website needs to get their appointment calendars in sync with the actual locations. What is the purpose of booking an appt. online (on a calendar that shows it is entirely open) for said locations, when it just conflicts with what is actually available? In the end, it has been the website that has been a waste of time. This is very much something that the locations should address with corporate. For, I am sure a lot of people have wound up going to their scheduled appointment via the website, only to get to the location and be told such appt. can not be honored as they are already overbooked. This is a waste of time, gas, mileage, etc. for customers... especially for people that live in rural areas such as the surrounding Fresno areas. Due to my own time constraints in heading back to SoCal tomorrow morning, I will now be paying out of pocket to another oil change service provider to get the job done on time. I was pulling a teardrop trailer filled to the top with camping gear, a suit, and a wedding dress. I was getting married later that week. I called two other repair shops and was turned away since it was later in the day. As I was about to risk the drive into Yosemite with an unknown engine problem, I decided to call Pep Boys. Daniel answered and told me that he would be able to look at my SUV as soon as the technician, Andy, returned from lunch. A glimmer of hope. I limped my SUV to Pep Boys and went in to talk to Daniel. He promptly produced the work authorization form and asked me for my keys. There was a slight problem though. I had a trailer, two toddlers, two dogs, and a fiance who had no desire to stand in a parking lot for who knows how long while the problem was diagnosed. Daniel was kind enough to recommend a brand new park nearby that I could take the family and the trailer to while they worked on my car. He even drew a map for me. Well the park didn't work out and I ended up getting a hotel room for the family, took the SUV back to Pep Boys, and waited for the call of doom. When Daniel called, it was to tell me that the SUV was fine and that it was just a loose spark plug wire. This is when the angels started singing. When I picked up the car they only charged me the diagnostic fee, gave me a veteran discount, and wished me a safe trip. Professional in every way. Thank you. read more

World class service from Raul and Suk! I was driving home from work when I suddenly had an unexpected flat. I called Pep Boys after receiving terrible service from one of their nearby competitions. Raul told me to come on right in and I should be taken care of. When I arrived at the shop, Suk greeted me in a very friendly manner and was very concerned of my situation. He explained to me of the procedure that they were going to perform on the tire. They fixed my tire and got me out within the hour! The best thing about the whole situation was Raul signed me up for rewards member and I received the service for half price!
