hello, well we just bought a van from a auction, i havent had a chance to maitance it yet, and we had a important dinner meeting... well , sure enough a tire blew on the way there,, and to my schock, the spare tire had a huge deformed balloon buldging out of the tire, i got it on the car, but i could only go 20 miles a hour, our stupid gps phone told us to go to the closet tire place, and it sent us to NOWHERE!!!! i was very mad bec it was getting late, i was going to cancel the dinner, but i thought just go towrads north ave etc.there has to be some auto place open or were stranded for the night!!! well i got on north, and i saw pep boys,, but i did notice they were about to close... so we met Randy, and to be honest with u, WE WERE BLOWN AWAY!!! not only did they stay late , prob an extra 45 minutes, but they went all out to save our night,, we were only going to replace 2 tires and get out of there, but i can tell he cared, and he showed me all the tires were bad, and not only that but one rim was bent.... so he gave me a great deal, changed all the tires , made the bent rim tire my spare tire... I couldnt belive we still made our dinner , only a hour late... i live in hanover park,,, i will be giving randy more of our business,, just bec of that night..... My son owns a 2008 Malibu that needed to have the bumper removed to change the headlight elements. I had spoke with Manager Randy Griffin and set up an appointment for the next day. When I arrived Randy was not in but Assistant Manager Steven Gabrielsen had been briefed by Randy and he already knew of the situation. I received an estimate that was less than what I had been quoted at several other repair shops in the area. While doing the R&R of the headlight elements it was discovered that an improper repair, after a previous accident, the headlight housing did not have a bracket to secure the assembly causing vibration which would result in the element failing again. Service Tech Brian fabricated a bracket that allowed for proper assembly. Steven and Brian both exceeded my expectations and completed my repair in a timely and professional manner. It was apparent to me that the communication at this Pep Boys between Managers regarding customer satisfaction is very good and the ability of the technician to take the initiative to be sure that everything was done right. I will continue to be a repeat customer of this shop. read more

The brakes went out about mile from Pep Boys; I had remembered seeing the Pep Boys sign but had never been there. I pulled in at 9PM the place was close but I saw the key drop box. I did not even have a pen so I had to drop the keys and hope for the best! I gave them a call in the morning and spoke to Randy. I explained that I was leaving for a 1000 mile trip that evening and was really in a tight spot. Randy said they would take a look and get back to me; he made me feel like I was lucky the brakes went out in front of Pep Boys. Sure enough he called back in about an hour and explained what had happened and what needed to be done to fix it. He let me know about a couple of other issues they had seen while doing a free inspection. He never pressured me, in fact he said these issues could wait but he just wanted to let me know. I really appreciated the information. I have never been a big fan of chain service centers but to be honest Randy and the guys at Pep Boys in Lombard just changed my mind! Had great service for significantly less cost and time than dealership. Called in advance for quote on replacing a cam shaft sensor. They gave me a solid quote over the phone with no hassle. Confirmed they could do the work same day. Called dealership, they quoted twice the price and 3-5 days to order the part. Took in my car that day. They found my timing belt falling apart and water pump leaking. All as a result of poor install by a competitor 18 months ago. Again they quoted a fair price and confirmed they would fix same day. They stayed late to get my car done. Dealerships will always be more expensive. But the level of service and effort I received is as good as I could get from any independent full service auto shop. Good work, honest pricing and reasonable turnaround time (major factor when you have no other vehicle). Wish I had been going here from the beginning. read more

I was new to the area and I needed my spark plugs changed and my oil changed in June on a car I recently bought. The spark plugs were in a difficult spot so I couldn't do them myself. I have had good luck at other Pep Boys and this location is no exception. They were knowledgeable and I never felt like I got the run around. I have been back twice since my spark plugs were done and they have been very courteous and helping. The manager Randy Griffith is especially kind and very smart and thorough when it comes to auto service. I would definitely recommend this location!! Yes, you will have to wait a bit for the service to be completed but if you want it done fast and sloppy go to that Quick Lube place, if you want it done right with no issues done by kind and knowledgeable service people then go here. read more

I have gone to this Pep Boys location over and over again. Steve, the Assistant Manager is informative and very helpful. I came in for an oil change and he noticed my left turn signal wasn't working properly. I had tried to change it myself, but on my Nissan I have to go underneath the car and take out some screws in order to change it. I told him that I had extra bulbs in the car and wondered if they could use them. He said yes and I received a discount by not having to pay for parts! The first time I went there the technician told me everything that was wrong with my car plus a quote. I have slowly gone down that list to fix things myself, but if I can't I always go to this Pep Boys location. I'll be coming here again and again. read more

11/25/13 this location is so!!!!!!!!!! Much better now that the old management is gone I would always bring my car here because it is so close to my home and the prices are unbeaten but the service wasn't great but now they are so!!!!! Much better because they have a master tech that dose a wonderful job and can take you in the back and show you what's wrong with your car and tell you the truth instead of the regular BS and they are so good on time I came for an oil change and rotate of my tires I was out in in 20 min maybe less I am a customer for life now... So much better with the new manager Steve and all the guys in the back ( mark and Steven) thanks to you guys read more

My wife and I have been going to this Pep Boys for about four years now and we have never had a complaint. I had an oil change today and they let me know of some general issues that I needed to resolve over the next couple months. The manager Randy was very helpful. I was pleased that he just gave me the facts on what my car might need like how much tread is on my tires, brakes, etc... This was helpful because I could plan may budget better over the next few months without getting hit with surprise repair bills. I'd recommend this shop to anyone I know. read more

Want it done right? Then these are the guys to see. Randy the manager will let you know just how long it's going to take and Brian, I've used him twice, will fix it the first time. He's worked on our Kia van, broken engine mount 1st time and hung up blend door in the heater/AC system 2nd time, and quickly diagnosed the cars ills and repaired it toot suite. I recently had to get my air conditioning system completely overhauled. The manager did a great job explaining everything that needed to be done, showing me what was wrong with each part, using both my car and spare parts in the shop for illustration. Great Pep Boys to go to. We needed A/C recharging but not a pressure test. All the other places did a hardline sell on the Pressure test. We said we didn't need it. All wanted it for another $80-$125. We didn't have it. They did it but understood that we needed just the charge now due to my health problems. They did it and the A/C is fine and blowing cold again! I went in for a simple all wheel alignment but found out there was much more work needed to my vehicle. The store manager Randy and the head technician Brian were very helpful in explaining the work that needed to be done. I have used this location for about the last 2 years. The service manager Randy has always been knowledgeable and has only suggested needed repairs. I have never found him to try to increase repair costs by selling unneeded service. Repairs are done in a timely manner. Your car receives a thorough checkup every visit. read more
