Do not take your car here. I spent $750 on work here only for it to have to be redone 13 months later. I went back in hoping they would do something for me since it failed so quickly, and the worker spoke to me incredibly rudely and refused to do anything since they only offer a 12 month warranty. So a one month difference warranted the horrible service I got. Take your car to Brakes Plus instead. They are very nice, do great work and do it fast, and their prices are better. read more

The Service Manager John intentionally withheld information that resulted in me spending $125.00 that I didn't need to. Honestly he may have charged me for even more unnecessary work. I had an appointment to have my rear shocks replaced because they were making a knocking noise and an alignment. He called me and said I also needed to replace the right control arm and ball joint. I told him I wasn't sure and I would call back. I got very busy as I'm preparing to move across the country in one week. I told him this when I made the appointment. I didn't think it was a big deal because he said they would have my car all day. I apologized for the delay when I called him back and said to hold off on the additional repair because I hadn't had a minute to process what he had said or the estimate he gave me. I was quoted $350 for the shocks and alignment. He told me it would go up to $871 with the control arm repair. I don't have a lot of extra money so I needed to figure out where I cut costs to pay for the added repair. I had intended to do the repairs there and told John that. John said that was fine and the conversation ended. What John left out was that I would have to pay for an alignment again when I brought my car back. I would end up actually paying $646.00 in addition to the $353.25 I had already paid. I am disappointed in Pep Boys and I feel I was taken advantage of because I am a female and I don't know about car repairs. He had information that he intentionally withheld which is ending up costing me even more money. Don't trust what anyone at Pep Boys tells you. They are dishonest and they do not have their customers best interests at heart. They only care how much money they can squeeze out of you! read more

Ordered tires through tire agent and they were shipped to this Pep Boys store for the install. I called the store when I received a text that my new tires were delivered there. Spoke to John, the store manager, told him. I wanted to schedule a time to have my tires replaced. He asked if I was waiting for them to be replaced or if I was dropping it off. I told him I needed to wait and he said he could get me in Saturday at 10am. I waited 5 days and arrived at 9:59 am on Saturday with the intent to arrive early however, there was a traffic jam due to a deer in the middle of C470 highway. John, the store manager told me there would be a 4 hour wait to replace my tires. I told him that I specifically waited 5 days and scheduled for that day and time because I needed to wait. He said he has 5 appointments scheduled for 10am and I was the last one to arrive. He said he can't help that the other 10am appointments changed their minds and decided to wait instead of leaving their car as initially scheduled to do. He was very unprofessional, very rude and condescending, all around didn't care at all about doing the right thing. I took my tires and left. Called Pep Boys corporate customer service and was told I would receive a call from the regional director but I have not. I contacted another Pep Boys in Lakewood on Jewell and Wadsworth and explained the entire situation. I was told to be there at that location Monday at 4 pm. I worked late and called Derrick to let him know I was going to be late and I would gladly reschedule if he needed me too. He told me to come in because they were open until 7pm. I got there, waited in the lobby for 15 minutes for someone to come acknowledge that I was there. Derrick was very nice and working hard, however, he went out to my car to look at my tires and then told me that he wouldn't be able to install my tires if I didn't pay him because the PO for the installation is store specific and was not sent to his store. I explained EVERYTHING clearly before I came to his store. I was blind sided and in tears because of Pep Boys and their terrible service. I had a very bad experience with Pep Boys many years ago at the 44th and Wadsworth location, which is closed now. They charged me two times for one set of tires and it was a fight for weeks to get my money back. If you have a choice to shop anywhere but Pep Boys, please do. I set an appointment online to get my oil changed at 8am. when I checked in for my appointment the gentleman asked if I would be dropping off my car. I told him no, that i would be waiting and he told me it would be 2-3 hours. I was perplexed and asked "why, I had an appointment for 8am?" he said will there are 4 others that had an appointment at 8am and they dropped theri cars off ahead of you. So why did I make an appointment for 8am if it was not going to be honored. He just looked at me. I guess Pep Boys has used the cable guy tactic of a 4 hour window to get your car an oil change. Another case of changing definitions. would recommend to go somewhere else that honors the definition of appointment. read more

My headlights needed adjustment and Pep Boys quoted $20. so I dropped the car off. About an hour later I got a call advising me that one light bulb was installed upside down and that a retaining spring was bent. I asked if they could turn the light over and bend the spring back into the correct shape. They said yes. I asked what the cost would be, and they said $187.00 for the repairs and 20.00 for the alignment. I used to take cars to them for repair back in the day when they were legitimate. I've used a few Pep Boys before, in California and pretty regularly in Northglenn, primarily because they rotate your tires for free and offer a reasonable price for their service when you use a coupon, so I didn't hesitate to book an appointment at this one. I booked online at this location and showed up at my 9am drop off for my oil change and tire rotation. The place is under pretty major construction, so a bit hectic, but I like to see places that reinvest in their stores. Clerk was quick and efficient, getting me checked in right away and said it'd be about an hour to an hour and a half, which was fine as I brought work with me to do while waiting. About 35 minutes later, I see my car pull up done, which was great!...so I thought. As I went to pay, I asked if my tires were rotated and was told 'No, we're too busy. It would be 4pm before you could pick up if we did that!' Not only did they not do the work, but acted like it was no big deal that they didn't tell me they couldn't do it when I checked in!! Then, when they ring me up, the price of my oil change had gone up nearly 35% from 3 months ago, so even with a 25% off coupon, I walked out the door $73 poorer and only half the work done. Hey, I get it when things are backed up or don't go as planned, but don't act like it doesn't matter to a paying customer. I could have paid the same price at the dealer, sat in a luxury lobby, had free lattes and had my car washed...which is what I'll be doing from now on. Bummer! read more

My car had a battery light come on. I attempted to make it home but broke down coming off the exit of Quebec and C470 around 12 am. I ended up having it towed to this location and contacted them in the morning. The person who answered the phone when asked about my Hyundai Veloster replied, "Oh, yeah the orange thing?" I didn't think much at that time. I was told my battery was fried and needed to be replaced. I was quoted at $406 to have a new one installed + diagnostics fee. This price is ridiculous, however I was told it is the best battery for the car and lasts 24 months longer on average. I wanted to make sure there were no issues with the alternator and was told that upon inspecting it was only the battery that had issues. I normally go to the Castle Rock location, after speaking with my mother, she wanted to know how much a battery replacement would cost at the Castle Rock location and proceeded to contact them and was given a quote of $219. She inquired as to why they thought the price was quoted so much higher at Lone Tree. We are regular customers at the Castle Rock location and a kind manager offered to contact the Lone Tree store and see if anything could be done about the price. I went to pick up my vehicle and John while ringing me up said "Next time you have a problem with something contact me instead. Calling another store is a great way to piss off the mechanic and have them never want to work on your car again". I told him I HADN'T contacted the other location. He said nothing. I got in the car, turned it on, and Lo and behold the battery light is STILL on. I walked back inside and asked if the battery light is supposed to still be on. John said no, but that after driving 30-40 miles it should "reset itself". I was skeptical of this and began to drive to the Castle Rock location in order to have them take a look. I made it almost there before the exact same thing that had happened the prior night happened again and I was once again stranded as the car died and was unable to be started. I had it towed to the Castle Rock location, where they discovered the battery had a bad cell AND my alternator was COMPLETELY done. The first tow cost me $154 the bunk battery cost $318 and the second tow cost $220 and I STILL don't have a drive-able car until the alternator is replaced. This almost ALL could've been avoided had they actually tested my alternator and the new battery at this location. read more

This shop is possibly the worst shop in the state of Colorado. I got my car towed in, needed a clutch. They do the clutch job and keep me on a string for two weeks longer than they said. That's fine, it can sometimes jobs take longer than expected. They call me in, says it's fixed. Drive it out that night, feels fine whatever I have my car back. Within 200 miles being on this clutch a weird clicking noise starts to come out of the transmission assembly, I promptly take it to them and of course, they don't hear the noise. Take it to them again as it worsens at 1000 miles (end of warranty) and again, they say they can't hear the blatantly obvious noise coming from the clutch they put in. I basically just say whatever. They won't help. Here I am about 10,000 miles later and my clutch goes out in the middle of the road. I know, I know, some people ride their clutch. For context I had my previous clutch for 75,000 miles with no issues until the day it went out. A 10,000 mile clutch indicates one of two things. Poor installation or cheap parts. I don't know which is was, but this shop took almost $3,500 for a clutch that lasted 1/4th of what it should last at the very minimum. I will never even consider taking my vehicle here again. Take your business elsewhere, these guys are terrible with service and quality of work. read more

I went into this pep boys yesterday to get a replacement for my head light. Being newly single and a broke college student I didn't want to have to figure out how to replace it myself, and I remember them doing it for free in the past. When I went in everyone was super friendly and asked what I needed help with. Once I bought the headlight I went over to the service desk to see if they could put it in for me, and although they seemed super busy, they said yes! A nice gentleman by the name of Floyd came out to my car and popped it right in for me. Took no longer than 2 minutes and he was glad to help me out. OK, my experience starts last Sunday when my 2014 Escape wouldn't start. I had AAA come out and jump me. The tech told me there weren't any amps left in the battery and it needed to be replaced. They would not do the replacement because the Escape has the battery in a stupid place. Fortunately, Pep Boys was just down the street and accepting appointments. At the same time, my Check Engine Light came on. arrrrgh.. Since I have an extended warranty, and Pep Boys is the authorized service center for my contract, I thought perfect! I was checked in by Tina, who was very professional and accommodating. I explained that not only did I need a new battery, but I needed an engine diagnostic to find out why my Check Engine Light was on. They were able to do all of that within two hours. The Check Engine Light was being caused by a faulty Coolant Bypass Valve. Sadly, the extended warranty company was closed (Sunday) so they could not get approval for the repairs, but Tina told me they would get the ball rolling on Monday. I did not hear back from Pep Boys, and called Tuesday. The person I talked to said that the part was in stock and would be delivered forthwith. Thursday, someone else called, and said that the warranty company insisted that my car be there before they could authorize the repair. (someone initially took down the wrong VIN number) I immediately drove over there where I met with a friendly gentleman by the name of Chris. He recorded the correct VIN, and the warranty company approved the repairs. They still did not have the part. Now it's Saturday....I call, and a person tells me that the part is expected to be in Monday or Tuesday and that they would call me. Emphasis on "they would call me" I got the impression that he was trying to tell me to quit bugging them. So, kind of a mixed experience here. While they replaced my battery well enough, I get the feeling, based on not only my experience so far, but also by reading other reviews that communicating with their customers is not a priority. I will update when the Coolant Bypass Valve is replaced. read more

I took my truck in because it was showing low air in my tires but none of the tires were really going low. The gentleman at Pep Boys set expectations with time and let me know they would contact me if there was anything out of the ordinary. They called me about 45 minutes later and let me know one of my sensors in my tire was off and my car was ready. Couldn't ask for much more... As far as Pep Boys goes, their store definitely needs to get caught up with the times. The store appearance is old, closed off, and doesn't seem as warm and welcoming as their competitors locations. We went out of our normal routine to save a few dollars when getting an oil change coming here because we had a coupon for $20 off. First of all, the oil change was still $75 even with the coupon. That's outrageous. Then, when I picked up my car, there was oil all over my steering wheel and door. Lastly, 2 weeks after taking my car here I smelled something burning. I decided to take it to my dealership and they found the filter was inserted incorrectly, so oil was spilling everywhere. Very low attention to detail and very expensive. He told me that it would take a few hours since all of his bays were full and he had to order a filter for my car since they didn't have any filters for my car in stock for "quite a few months now". My Subaru needed a new headlamp and I, from what I've seen on YouTube, was in for a not-very-fun time replacing said headlamp (you have to access it from the wheel well!). This is my 2nd time stopping at this Pep Boys store. I recently stopped her since I needed to replace my tail light and it took them less than 30 seconds to get me the right part and out the door. Same experience tonight. Quick lookup, found part, at the cashier in less than 1 minute. Cashier asked me if the car was here. I said yes. He started going over what I would need to go do to replace the light (including wearing rubber gloves!). Then, since it was slow inside, he walked out to my car and replaced it. Obviously, he has replaced lights in Subarus before. He didn't need to do that and I certainly expressed my gratitude. Could I have done it? Sure. In the 5 min or so it took him to do that? Hell no. I went to Pepboys with an appointment to service my Hertz long term rental with bad brakes. I had a standing appointment for a week with John. I was 10 minutes late for the appointment that required leaving the car. The clerk John grinned with a smile that he cancelled my appointment since he has 25 cars backlogged. I said f-bomb this unprofessional pepboys business. He said get the hell out of here for f-bombing him. I told him that this is no way to run a business and he lost me as a customer. I recommend that people go elsewhere for service since Pepboys is irresponsible when it comes to relying on their appointments to service autos. I would not recommend coming here. I was referred here by Car Toys after looking for cord clips for my road cam. I walked in and looked above the aisles- no signage that says what each aisle holds like at a grocery store. That kind of sucks, but I decided to just walk each aisle in search for the clips I need. Not a single employee acknowledged me or asked me for help. There was an associate along the far right wall with a cart and was scanning different items. I had to snake around her when entering an aisle because the cart was almost completely blocking the way. Even when I was 18 inches away from her, not a peep was said. Despite this, I kept looking for the clips in the remaining aisles I had not yet looked through. I ended up not finding them, but even if I did there's no way I'd buy anything at this location. read more

While my situation wasn't ideal, as I was on the way camping and noticed my thermostat jump really high right before I got on the freeway, they saw me right away. Turns out I have a cracked radiator and needed a WHOLE one. So with no appointment, and luck, they had the parts and was able to do the work at the same time. Soooo as I am currently waiting for my repair I write this review. The cost was more than I liked, but it's a vital part to my car so I get it. It comes with warranties, and I like those. Somehow that was my fault according to John and as he said, and I quote "even my daughter knows how to check the antifreeze it's right there" . Now right after having my car serviced and repaired why would I go behind them to check their work? I am not a mechanic. How would I know to do that in the first place? Scheduled a 3:00 appt on a Sunday. Was told it would take 45 min to an hour. Get the car checked in by 3:00. Almost signed the work order then saw the price was $5 higher than the big sign posted in his desk. 45 minutes later! The service guy comes up to me and says they haven't started! With a half hearted "sorry." I have to ask probing questions to find out "when" it will be done and "why" it's not being worked on? I wait another 20 minutes and look out the window to see my car has not moved. I walk up to the service manager to let him know that after an hour and ten minutes after the appt it hasn't moved. "Yeah...we're really behind. We will get it in as soon as possible" - I just told him to give me my keys and I left with no service. Here's a tip. If you miss expectations by that much - 1. Pretend to be sincere 2. Offer something to help make it right. Never go here. They are always slammed so I'm sure they will be just fine. Just the worst. One positive. A young man working the counter helped get me a charging cable - he was great because he hustled and was nice and a problem solver. Not like the rest of the crew I encountered. read more

Called them this morning to schedule appointment to have a battery installed in my Camry, and they said no problem come in at 3 PM will take care of it. I get there at 2:30 PM and told him what I was therefore, the gentleman at the counter says "oh we don't have that battery anymore in stock due to the sale." A waste of my time, needless to say it looks like they're switching over to not supplying parts anymore in their stores and just becoming a full service center, one things for sure I will not be going back there again. read more

I purchased 4 tires from Pep Boys on Park Meadows Drive in 2019 for $450. As do other tire merchants they offer free tire rotation. Several weeks ago I made an appointment to have my tires rotated. I made the appointment online for 10:00 in the morning, days before the appointment. Expected a quick half hour turnaround, as ANY DECENT RETAILER THAT RESPECTS ITS CUSTOMERS WOULD HAVE SEEN TO. I'm 10 minutes early for the appointment. Luckily I brought my sales receipt because unlike every other tire retailer, these asses were going to charge me for the rotation- the ass actually made me show him my receipt! The clerk takes my info and writes up the order. He tells me to have a seat in the customer lounge to wait. And five minutes later this asshole tells me that IT'S GOING TO BE AT LEAST 3 HOURS BEFORE THEY EVEN HAVE A RACK AVAILABLE. And Pep Boys has closed its parts business to concentrate solely on tire sales and service? Worthless pricks won't be selling me any tires again. Obviously "Customer Service" actually means nothing to these clowns. Never again. There are too many good companies around to put up with fucking morons like Pep Boys. I went to the Discount Tire by my home. To avoid feeling guilty for never buying tires there I tipped both the desk employee, and the tech who rotated my tires. I was out the door in 15 minutes. I purchased an online order which indicated pay in store. I received a email your order is ready to be pick up Park Meadows. I call the store to inquire if the order was ready so I call to be sure that the tire I ordered was in stock and John Staats the store manager answered and said I don't see your order so you will have to wait till I see it in my system. I gave home the tire brand and size. I told him well can't you just do another order and check now that I am on the phone. John being Mr customer service then got rude and abrasive and all of a sudden I have five customers standing in front of me. So basically did not want to be bothered. Then I had to ask him what his plan was moving forward are you going to call me back. I gave him my phone number no call. back. I called a few minutes later and he answered again and he said it was in stock. When I walked in the store a few minutes later as I live close by he was surfing the web on his phone in the customer waiting area. I asked why he was so rude on my first inquiry and he again got and attitude and said well you were rude to me. I guess it to much to ask for him to just do his job since every sale keeps his paycheck coming. I did request his district manager name who he said is on the east coast. No wonder without any local oversite the local managers can treat the paying customers like garbage. I don't thing he deserves even one star. read more

I came in to get a headlight replacement , was told that my ballast is bad so there was nothing they could do unless they ordered the part , knowing this , they still replaced my headlight bulb which would not work without the ballast , and charged me 250 dollars for about 45 minutes.
