Super helpful and very kind customer service. I walked in with no appointment and they listened to my needs carefully and even though it was a little out if the ordinary they totally got it asked only a couple smart short clarifying questions just to make sure neither party was confused about anything and they told me what they could deliver that day to make sure it would meet my requirements and that the expectations were very clear and concise. And then the experience was made more wonderful by them offering without me asking for a complimentary once over to check over everything including the issue I was having and then provided me the separate quotes for the everything vs main issue without me having to specify because they are smart and anticipated ahead of time. Talk about excellent customer service! I then was able to ask for a final quote to include the main issue I was having plus some of the others that I wanted to get handled here soon and now I can financially prepare to have this handled and I'm confident the work itself and that that experience will also be excellent mostly because I was told it would be at least a two hour edit for the mechanics to check her out so I prepared to settle in. But after fiddling with the vending machine a bit till I realized it was just out of order I made myself a couple yummy complimentary pumpkin spice coffees with their keirug and filled myself up a big cup of fresh complimentary water from their fancy reverse osmosis fill station checked my email to deal with a couple work issues and before I could have ever expected they were ready for me to come look over the quotes and very plainly and knowledgeably explained in brief detail each issue item by item so that I could completely understand the current state if damage and the level of risk each could be the longer it went without addressing so that I could decide for myself the best course of action in prioritizing how and when to spend my money! No scare tactics no pressure no sense of bossing me about what I should do just gentle suggestion based on the facts and relaying the information in a friendly and honest way. Absolute pros. They made me feel very empowered as a female customer which has been rare in any car related business I've usually been through. You guys are absolute gems and I'll be back soon with money so you can do the rest of your magic with the fixing things part! Thanks keep up the great work! Oh also almost forgot! My car had a terrible dragging noise underneath that was scary sounding but also mostly so embarrassing sounding and I knew I couldn't afford to do anything about it this day so I didn't expect them to do anything about it except to include it in the quote for things to take care of once I saved up. I took my car in due to a leaking radiator. I am told that the reservoir is leaking. I authorized for the repair to be done. I stayed in the waiting room for about 4 hours. Finally the work is done. I drive my car home and the hood starts smoking. I opened the hood and found the engine drenched with coolant. I barely was able to finish driving the car home. The next day I had my car towed in. By this time I am furious. I left the car again for them to work on the radiator issue and now it appeared that the part they put in was defected. I waited again for 4 hours. Now, I thought it was all done. They give me the keys to the car. They left my car parked on an car lift. They didn't have the professionalism to drive the car to a space for me to drive off. I drove the car off the lift. Now, I'm experiencing the exact same issue. My car is leaving a puddle of coolant in the carport. I say with all honesty and sincerity that this is the worse experience I've had in my 50 years of driving. I've taken my car to multiple mechanics within that time and this is the worse. And the corporate office was not helping me at all. If I am able to reach anyone, I get the run around. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT have this shop work on your car. They cannot do their jobs. There is no professionalism, no concern about getting their jobs correctly. The staff seems to have an "I don't give a shit" kind of attitude. I'm talking to the automotive bureau to see if I can get my money refunded and have another mechanic fix the problem. Again, look elsewhere to have your car worked on. UPDATE: On 01/27/2026 I get a call back from Area manager Art. I explained the situation, he sided with the mechanic's inferior service. I am entitled to no refund after I pay almost $500 for the job not being completed. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT have these mechanics work on your car. The work will not be completed and you will not be entitled to a refund. After this hellish experience I took my car to Elite Auto Garage in Hollywood and they fixed the problem. The problem hasn't resurfaced. I highly recommend Elite Auto Garage. But DO NOT take your car to this Pep Boys location. Update: Today, 04/13/2026 I received a final decision from the corporate office saying that they will NOT be refunding my money for the work they failed to perform properly on my car. No good reason was given to me about why my refund will not be processed. In my 50 years of driving, I have never experienced this situation where a refund is refused when work is not properly performed by their mechanics. What should have been a simple 20-minute battery check ended up taking two days with poor communication, mixed messages, multiple avoidable mistakes and no resolution in the end. I left wondering whether this ordeal was due to poor training, multiple oversights, or if they were deliberately trying to avoid a warranty replacement. I brought my car to Pep Boys to diagnose a battery they installed that had recently failed and left me stranded. I was about 15 minutes late to my early morning appointment and was told I'd now have to leave the car because there were too many cars ahead of me. I didn't hear anything back until 3PM, when I received a report via text that said "Battery.is.good." with no explanation. Oddly, the report also noted that my battery health indicator light was illuminated and required attention. When I followed up, I learned they had only run a resting voltage test, incorrectly assuming my car didn't start. After I pushed for load testing, they ran multiple tests using incorrect input values (setting the CCA input much lower than what the battery was actually specified for, despite the battery being clearly labeled) and set the battery age to 0 months, even though its 19 months old. The final test still showed indications that the battery had lost quite a bit of charge overnight and may have been struggling under load. When I tried to ask about the discrepancies I was dismissed and assured the battery is "good". No one ever reached out to update me, ask clarifying questions, or even inform me that the technician assigned to my car had left for the day. I had to chase answers repeatedly, leave my car overnight, pay for Uber both ways, and all I ended up with was a handful of invalid test results and no resolution. I wish I could give zero stars. Not only did they bait and switch the service they promised during my initial five-hour visit, but when I returned to have them complete the work, the tone shifted dramatically once I mentioned corporate was involved. The friendliness disappeared, and I instead experienced dismissive and unprofessional treatment with an undercurrent of hostility. Michael in particular was rude and dismissive, showing clear signs of anger and immaturity in how he interacted with me. His behavior made it obvious that customers who speak up about unfair treatment are not welcome here. I also witnessed him dismiss a walk-in customer's concerns the week before, only to change his tone once her boyfriend arrived. With me, at that same visit, his response when I asked a simple timing question at the front desk was laced with hostility. I calmly replied that I had not realized Vanessa had stepped away until I walked over, and only then did he shift his attitude. The contrast in how both the other woman of my ethnicity and I were treated compared to others was hard to ignore. (The woman's boyfriend shared the same ethnicity as Michael). As a woman, I had hoped this location, especially with female staff present, would be a place where I felt respected. Instead, voicing concerns about microaggressions was treated as an inconvenience. Truly, even me being there they acted like was an inconvenience . The subtle but consistent disrespect left me feeling unwelcome and disregarded. When I asked what was happening, I was further gaslit by Vanessa at the front desk. She had been warm and helpful during my first visit, but completely shifted this time. Looking back, I now realize the "sizing up" began earlier when she acted surprised to hear I lived just minutes away in a nice neighborhood. I'm writing this while getting my car serviced at Valvoline, where I'm receiving exceptional care and customer service, which only confirms my decision to leave this review. This morning, I had an 8 AM oil change appointment at this Pep Boys location. Hernan assisted me upon arrival, and he was unfriendly from the start. My vehicle is leased and qualifies for free oil changes through Pep Boys as part of a fleet account. When I made the appointment earlier in the week, the representative assured me that not having the fleet account information on hand wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, Hernan seemed unaware of this and was visibly frustrated that I didn't have the information readily available. After some effort and calling previous Pep Boys locations, I managed to obtain the fleet account information. When I provided it to Hernan, he responded with a snarky "oh yeah, well I know that." He then informed me that my oil change would take 3-4 hours due to the need for fleet account payment verification. He suggested that paying out of pocket for around $120 would expedite the process. I considered it, but ultimately decided to leave as it was already 8:45 AM, and I was growing increasingly agitated by Hernan's attitude. I informed him that I had to leave due to time constraints. Hernan then claimed that any location would take just as long to verify the account. I mentioned that the Pep Boys locations in Reseda and Van Nuys, which I had frequented for years when I lived nearby, usually complete the process within 1-2 hours. Hernan dismissively responded with, "okay, whatever." The entire experience left a really sour taste in my mouth. I understand everyone may be contending with personal issues, but Hernan's attitude was the main reason I left. Had he been more professional, I probably would have just paid out of pocket because time is money and I have a ton of tasks on today's docket. Instead, I went up the street to Valvoline, where I paid $20 less, was in and out in under 20 minutes, and dealt with courteous staff. I also want to note that while I was waiting, another customer came in, and Hernan was rude to them as well. I understand we all have bad days, but Hernan's demeanor is unacceptable for a customer-facing role. While the price of my one oil change might not be a significant loss, losing multiple customers and multiple services over time could certainly add up and this particular location has undoubtedly lost me as a customer for good... Last time I brought my own shocks and struts to be replaced here. It was $280 for the installation. Today, I do the same thing. I waited as he figured out how to enter it and I was quoted $947 to install the shocks and struts, when I provided them! Seriously $947?!!! So, I'd have to say, Pep Boys has fallen to becoming a rip off. I hate to do bad reviews. It's rare. But this? Seriously? This is so mind blowing. I honestly think that they just do not want to do it, the quote is so exaggerated. I can do the shocks myself, will take an hour. The struts are a hassle, so I'll find a reputable installer. I also noticed, if you get their credit card, the interest rate can be up to 35%. Whatever happened to this business is sad to see. I had planned to get tires and a battery done also. I went in yesterday to get my rotors and brakes done. Hector helped me out he was a chill dude and gave me a decent quote. Mike handled the paperwork and was great to work with and a cool dude. I'm pretty happy with the job Roberto, the mechanic did even thought didn't meet him but the that's what the paper work said whom worked in the car but was quick and efficient. The only drawback was that the final cost ended up about $40 higher than the original quote which wasn't that big of a deal to me. I'm not sure if that was due to better parts, but they couldn't give me an exact brand name for the rotors used. Other than that I'd definitely bring my car back again. Patch work review. My car tire got a small nail in it, luckily it wasn't on the sidewall and in the middle of the tread. Was able to get the nail and tire patched up in about 45 minutes for $19.99. Super easy and quick in my opinion. The waiting area has COVID social distancing and hand sanitizer available for us. Strong and fast free WiFi as well. Just a reminder to people who don't know, if you get a nail or puncture on the sidewall you're SOL. You can only patch and plug a nail in the middle in the tread area. Last Sunday January 19th 2025, I have scheduled a oil change at 10:30 at the Redondo Beach, CA store. I arrived 10 minutes before to make sure that I was on time. It took about 20 minutes for someone come to talk to me and when we finished the check in, the person told me that it will take about 1h30 and he would contact me when is done. I went around to kill time and after 3hrs, nobody had contact me yet, so I went back and saw my car in the same place at the parking lot that i have parked. Two other customers had come and gone and I was still waiting. 2 hours later, I checked in with two guys working and chatting and asked how much longer it would be. They didn't even know which car was kind and walked out (I'm assuming to ask someone else? Very disorganized). I asked for my keys back and they had to call another worker to ask where my keys were because they didn't have them. I brought my car in last Thursday for a simple oil change and also asked them to measure my front brakes to see how much brakes I had left. I was checked in at 2:11pm and checked out at 3:33pm. A reasonable oil change time frame is 30 minutes to at most one hour, if they are not efficient. Problem started when my car was up on the lift. I saw it up there for more than an hour and no one working on the car. I inquired and the guy standing by my car doing nothing said, I'm not working on that car. He wasn't working and just standing against the wall. My mechanic went of a test drive with another customer instead of finishing my car, that's why I was there for over 1hour and 20 minutes. I received the car report and it was missing the brake measurement I asked for. I went up to the counter and showed a rep the report and he couldn't explain so he showed a mechanic, he said there are no measurement numbers. I said that's right, we don't know how much brakes you have without the measurement. Then I also found out only ONE mechanic knows how to measure brakes. Are you kidding me? There is a brake measurement ruler. This is very basic and every mechanic should know this. Finally got my car and left. I drove home and didn't drive until Saturday morning to run errands. While driving I heard dragging sounds from underneath my car. Pulled over to discover my lower engine cover is hanging loose. I stop everything and go to pepboys and explain. Hector says, I have a lift open so we'll take care of it. Car doesn't go up on the lift and another car goes up instead. After 40 minutes of no work, I asked what is going on and I start watching them by the garage. 3-4 staff discuss how to fix it and decide to hammer out the damage instead of replacing it with a new one. When I confronted them about it, the exact words from them was "it's just aluminum and plastic"! I was shocked! That's not how I brought in my car for a simple oil change. No I'm running late, have to pick up lunch for guests at home. So Hector gets ZIP TIES to hold up my lower engine cover because they lost or they don't have the screws. There's nothing else he can do so I said, first of all you never apologized for the mistake and instead of communicating what is going on, you try to sweep it under the rug if I wasn't watching outside. I sent a note to corporate and they said a senior manager will call me within 48 hours and no one did. I followed up again on Monday and the district area manager Jabra Kidess was too busy. Pepboys is going through difficult financial times and all the good people have been let go, so ichan automotive group people have taking over. Unfortunately all the regular neighborhood clients lost Humberto and Bob from the past crew that were so respectful and professional. This new crew is arrogant and incompetent! You know you SUCK when you mess up an oil change and can't take a brake measurement without a senior person holding your hand. I'm still waiting for a senior manager to call me as well as when the screws are coming in so I can take my car back. I'm wasting more than 4 hours on this fiasco. Do yourself a favor and go down a couple blocks to 5 Speed Motors where is family owned and run well. It's has 186 five stars on yelp! Couldn't add video of the damage. read more

I specifically booked an appointment at this shop because I had had positive experiences here in the past. Today's experience totally undercut that. They have one person at the service desk. They need to have more. It is unreasonable to arrive at at 7:50 a.m. for an 8:00 appointment and not be assisted until 8:30. Three and a half hours, at 11:30 my car did have all four tires replaced, but the alignment was not completed and no ETA for when it would be. (Still not sure why my car was taken down off the rack and parked in the driveway when the alignment wasn't completed.) I took the alignment off the request, paid for my tires and left. Got it done in 45 minutes at a competitor's shop as a walk-in. The customer service here is horrible. Disinterested at best; rude at worst. Maybe bring back Bob and Humberto to do some customer service training. You've already lost one customer, maybe you can not lose more. read more

Wish I'd read the reviews first. Oil change and tire rotation (with appointment) took about an hour and twenty minutes, which wouldn't have been an issue except it took them close to five minutes to actually acknowledge my presence when I walked in the office, and the woman who did take down my info was fairly unpleasant. The price was absurd as well -- $106 for a synthetic oil change (it's about $70 at Valvoline). When I left I noticed my tire pressure light was on. Not wanting to deal with them anymore (and not noticing any issues with the way the car felt) I just kept on going home. Big mistake. Several hours later my right rear tire was totally flat. I hadn't run over any nails or screws, and the pressure light hadn't been on when I brought the car in. This morning I took my car to Big Brand Tire on Highland. They said it was a loose valve core, fixed the tire and checked the others at no cost and had me on the road within half an hour. I can't say Pep Boys caused the issue, but it seems like the kind of thing they would have noticed in their inspection before giving me the car back. Well I took my car in to get a simple tire rotation. After the tire rotation I hear a small noise coming from the rear drive home didn't think think much of it so later and parked my car. The next day in the morning Im driving to work and I start hearing a loud gunk sound while I drive in 2nd and 3rd gear and when I slow down. I was about to go on the free way but I decide to go back to this pep boys because they did my tire rotation the day before. So I go in let the person at the desk know i just got a tire rotation at their location and I hear a noise and I'm concerned something maybe loose because i felt it was too dangerous to go on the freeway with a noise like that. So the mechanic checks it and they check it and put on the lift and ask me what's the problem I tell the mechanic and says everything seems ok so I said I think something might be loose because I hear a gunk sound when I drive. So he says ok I'll check the torque I don't know what else I can do. So I said yes please check the torque and make sure no lug nuts are loose. He checks the passenger side everything seems ok then he goes too the driver rear tire and says oh shit and in see him tightening all the lug nuts on my rear driver tire. The mechanic that did my tire rotation the day before forgot to torque and tighten my tire lug nuts. That was the problem I knew. So now my car ain't making a noise and he manager or desk guy apologizes. So I just want to let anyone that comes here to this pep boys double check! Triple check! Everything! The lazy mechanic that forgot to torque my tire lug nuts could have gotten me into an accident. So not sure if I will return to this location again. Be safe everyone! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I called this location to see if I can drop off my commuter car to do an oil change and fix one of my tires that had a nail in it. They told me to bring the car right away and told me they would be able to finish it within a few hours. I dropped the car off at about 9:30am. When I arrived, the guy seemed go have an attitude change from when I spoke to him on the phone and was extremely rude. The guy told me I needed to show proof of paperwork for my commuter car in order to get work done on the car. I told him I dont have any paperwork since the company of the commuter car had told me I just need to drop off the car and Pep Boys should know what to do. (Pep Boys Partners with the company of the commuter car) He then told me I need to call the company or else they would not be able to service my car... I have gone to numerous Pep Boy locations to bring my commuter car and I have never had this problem. Also note I had a flat tire from the nail so I couldnt drive it anywhere else. I was there for over an hour trying to call the company to get approval for Pep Boys to service my car until the guy finally said he can insert the information himself to get through approval. He then said it will take a few hours and they will call before they close to come pick up the car. They closed at 7:30pm that day. Once it became 4pm I called Pep Boys since I haven't heard from them and they said they finished the oil change and tire but they are waiting for approval of other services that they claimed needed go be done.... They didn't update me about the car or check with me prior to asking the company for these services. They then told me I would need to wait until tomorrow to pick up the car BUT I needed the car for work the next day. Super inconvenient. After picking up the car the next day, I noticed the car smelled like something was burning and smoke appeared from the hood. When I pulled over to check, I saw the stick for the oil change was not pushed in all the way and there was oil around the engine. The customer service staff are awful. I've gone in a few times hoping they could assist and each person I've interacted with has been unhelpful and outright rude. This is a longstanding brand that essentially functions without staff that impacts reoccurring business - until this location. Had a great experience at Pep Biys tonight- great team! I had faulty brakes and they stayed 30 minutes late to fix them. So kind, right?!

This particular Pep Boys location is my go-to spot for any servicing or maintenance needs that I have with my car. They are always very quick, efficient, friendly, and honest and reasonable with their prices. I always feel like I can trust that my car is in good hands here and that I will be receiving a fair price. It's situated in a bit of an awkward corner off of Fountain Ave, but I've never had any difficulties when coming to drop off the car. They also have a very comfortable waiting room area with couches, a counter with charging outlets, and a TV and snack vending machine. Oftentimes, I'll just comfortably sit there and wait if it'll only take an hour or two to get the service done. They are always very friendly and quick to get started on working on the car, and always give a fair and reasonable estimate on the wait time. They almost always finish before that estimated time as well! I love the prices here, especially with Pep Boys coupons and the rewards program. I definitely feel like I'm getting excellent value for excellent service every time I come here. They've been taking good care of my car! My favorite auto mechanic location! I schedule an appointment online and showed up at the appointed time. The check in was incredibly slow, As the woman behind the counter was much more interested in play fighting with one of her coworkers that paying attention to my order. They never called when the job was done(which was promised) and when I showed up to pick up my car, Hector behind the counter promised to get to me in a minute, and then wandered off to help someone find Lysol in the back in the store. Made an appointment for 5pm, simple oil change. Got here early 445pm. Gentleman at the desk told me he had to order the filter. How in the world do you guys book appointments with the vehicles details but advise your clients "let me see if I can do the oil change" at check-in. Also, advised it would take 30 minutes to get filter. Wow. Been here an hour and they tell me "bad news" we can't do the oil change because we don't have the drain plug. Bro. Wasted hour and a half. You people owe me lunch. Avoid this place!!!!!!! But a big thank you to the actual mechanic, he showed me how to check oil level using my MMI. Great help. I was still at a high level. read more
