I bought a new Mazda in 2009 and at first had the car serviced exclusively at the dealership but as the car got older I went to this Pep Boys which was right down the street from where I lived at the time. Two mechanics, Jeff and John, worked there then, and the repairs were generally satisfactory. Then a new man worked on my vehicle -- this was about eight years ago -- and the repair was far from satisfactory. I never went back again. Until last Sunday. Now I own a Subaru Legacy. In short there are battery issues with this car and the Outback. There was even a class action lawsuit. Anyway I'd get a jump start when the battery went dead and head straight to an Auto Zone which would sell me a battery for about $200 and install it for free right at the sidewalk in front of the store and the whole procedure took maybe 20 minutes. This time the Auto Zone didn't have my battery in stock. So I drove one block to this Pep Boys. I was charged $269 for a two-year Diehard Silver they sell "curbside" for $212, a $25 shop fee, $15 for installation and I DID NOT get the $22 core trade-in on the dead battery. $325 to replace a dead [expletive] battery. And, as always with Pep Boys (read the other reviews), it took two [expletive] hours. I'll push my car uphill before I'll EVER go to ANY Pep Boys again. read more

Because labor was $140 THOUGH THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 4 hours I got charged for a fuel system cleaner I didn't ASK FOR and they charged me $23 for it when I could simply BUY THAT for $12 at Walmart bro. No i literally only came here for an oil change and an alignment. I had a 10:30am appointment. At 11:10am they bring me up to explain what they found meaning in an hour they only looked at it. Hadn't even gotten STARTED . and it's now 1:22pm and I'm STILL sitting here. I'm surprised this place even has TWO stars! Made an appointment at 11 AM. Got there and the lady was like "hey even though you have an appointment you have 3 cars ahead of you". Ok? The only reason we got out at 4 Hours is because 20 minutes prior we saw the car pull around assuming it was down AND one of the technicians came to check on the customers int the waiting room. I went to another location on JCB closer to my house to get a tire replaced due to a screw going in to my tire at the wrong place to be plugged. They were very courteous and went out to my vehicle to check the plate, the mileage, and the tire which needed to be replaced. They didn't have the tire but this location did. The courier might take an hour and 1/2 to get the tire to the location closer to my house so I took my chances. It was just a 2 mile drive. From the minute I walked in to THIS store, I felt disrespected by Susan at the front. She had zero customer service skills, was rude, and acted like I was putting her out of her way to be there. She didn't go check my plate, mileage, nor tire. She asked me in a rude tone , so I went out to my vehicle to gather the info she needed.... Twice. When I told her which tire (the Starfire), she said .... And I quote.... "Those tires are awful! I'm cheap and I wouldn't put them on my OWN vehicle!" First of all, Susan, your store sells these tires! Secondly, I didn't buy the tires... the car dealership I bought my vehicle from replaced the worn tires on the vehicle with these (vehicle had 16,000 miles and tires were already more bare than tires on my vehicle which had 33.000 miles on them). Third, I wasn't going to replace one tire with a different brand or I would've gone somewhere else! At this point, she told me I was third in line, didn't know how long it would be, hoped her guy was coming in around 9 (it was 8:39am), and have a seat! I was pissed, shocked, and in disbelief at the way I'd just been treated. I went back to the counter, asked for my key and said that I needed to leave. She grabbed the bag with me key and basically threw it at me and huffed off. I went back to the other location on JCB and received the BEST service! Never been to a Pep Boys shop before as my family always used to go to Napa, Sears, or the Ford dealership back home to handle car needs. However, my fiancé and I received great customer service and care for our first time here. All we needed was help getting our new license plate on as we didn't have the proper tools. The guys at the shop were super nice about it and got us all squared away quickly. Plenty of parking out front and convenient location off of Jimmy Carter. I've been here since 8 am. I have a fleet vehicle that needed an oil change. The man at the desk told me the fleet center wouldn't be open today so I called. And they are open. Then 2 other people came in as I was calling. He waited on those people and put them ahead of me. Although he had already gone thru the process of getting my info. Then he tells me I'm gonna try to fit u in we are getting busy. He should have put me ahead of those people. Considering it is his fault. It is now 10:23 am and my car is still sitting in the same spot. This place has the worst service. It is extremely slow for routine services that should only take 30 minutes. I hate this place. I brought my car here for service since my shifter cable was broken. I had told them I knew nothing about cars. I was told that it would be ready by the end of the day. I call them up and they told me that it needed an oil change and the shifter cable replaced. It would be about 800 dollars. I found out that there was a factory recall on it and all I would need to do was to get it to a dealership and it would get fixed for free. I called back and told them this. Their response: " oh we saw that too and were about to call you..." I told them just the oil change and nothing else. I paid for it and got my car to the dealership. Fast Forward 3 months later my car starts lurching forward and a check engine light comes on and it has issues shifting through gears. Made an appointment online around 2pm for Saturday at 4:30pm (earliest appointment available) as my engine was overheating and had a coolant issue. Arrived at 4pm and was told that it was too late for them to look at it even though I made an appointment (and explained in the details what the issue was) and that the tech that works with engines wouldn't be back until Monday. Would have been nice to receive a phone call at least letting me know that information instead of driving there with an overheating engine thinking they could at least look at it. Can I rate ZERO STARS!!!! Made an appointment online in the morning for an afternoon appointment. Older woman is rude as hell (love helping men). Told me they can't accept my appointment for the same day. Told me we can not control the online appointment (system shouldn't allow it then). So I say fine and left. I called and spoke with the young lady later that day and made an appointment for 7:30 am the next morning. I arrive and speaking with the young lady I gave her my keys when the older lady butts in and ask, does she have an appointments, young lady says yes. Used online to select tires and appointment. Was given a time of 3 on Tuesday. Dropped tires off early. Was told that tire truck hadn't come yet for the day but should be done by end of day. Truck never came. Called the next morning and was told that they had received email and truck would be there by lunch with the tires. I called after lunch and still no truck. Called again at 3 and was told that truck broke down and would be another day. Thursday comes and still no tires and promised yet again they will be on truck next day. Truck comes Friday but no tires on truck for me. Called and told they can now locate another tire but total would go from $468 to over $650. When I asked numerous times for manager or district manager to call me to speak over the inconvenience of having my vehicle down for multiple days and see what type of discount I could receive to offset was only told they couldn't discount anymore because they still was only making $10/tire at that price. I am shop foreman for local repair shop and will never use or recommend this type of business or customer service. read more

Truly, after living in Atlanta metro for nearly a year, I have become accustomed to the shitty customer service all around. So why was I surprised when the shit got thick here at Pep Boys. I have never had a problem with a Pep Boys employee being knowledgable about their in store merchandise. I was looking for a particular item that was on the website, but said that I could find in the store as well. The store being down the street, I went to the store instead. I asked for help in finding it from the young lady at the front counter. She took me all over the store and could not find it. She told me that they didn't have it. Somehow.....I knew that they DID. I asked her to ask the elderly looking parts manager if he knew where it was and the bitch copped an attitude! She said that she had been there 7 years, longer than anyone and if she didn't know, then no one else did either. I quickly decided.... FUCK HER, I'll find it my damn self. I looked around and with the aid of a random employee, we found what I was looking for. I took my purchase to the counter and paid for it. I could not resist the chance to say... It's frustrating enough having your car fixed, worst when your are like me and know nothing about cars at all. I am specifically giving this location a 1 star because I called to ask them if I had to replace my tires at the midtown location (where I got my warranty from) or could I choose this Norcross location. They told me I should do it where I got my warranty from. Called the midtown location to confirm but they had me on hold FOREVER so I just went down there. I get to the midtown location and the guy tells me I could have went to any pep boys. Told me the guy from that location was probably lazy and didn't want to do it. Thanks... Commuted for nothing and added more miles on my spare tire. Waited 3+ hours just have my tire replaced AGAIN. Save yourself time, money, and sanity by avoiding this place. I came into the store on a Friday morning at 9am because my check engine light came on as well as the power steering. The car was shaking and the steering wheel was tugging in both directions. My commute to and from both mine and my husband's jobs is over 2 hours combined so it is important that our only car is safe to drive. Anyway, At the end of the day it took them from 9 am to 4pm to "fix" what was wrong with the car. They ended up doing an inspection, replaced spark plugs,replaced air filters, and insisted that I needed a replacement gasket cover because it was letting air into my engine. I was reassured that this was the cause of the issues. The grand total was 546$. I considered it a hefty but necessary hit to my wallet because of the importance of driving a safe car. But here we are almost 3 weeks later and my car is still shaking like a leaf. After taking it to another shop that was recommended to us by a family member, we were informed that I actually just needed to replace two tires, have them rotated, and get an alignment. I personally am not someone who complaines. But after throwing that much money down the drain I really can not help it. You should not have to feel like a fool after leaving your mechanic. Do not trust these men. The man who "helped" me was the manager. I will never come here again. Burn me once bad on you. Burn me twice bad on me. There will not be a 3rd time. Today it took 2.5 hours for them to do an oil change and repair/replace a tire. 2 AND ONE HALF HOURS!!!. I am done with this place. Last time it too 90 minutes to replace a couple burned out lights. I know the logo is everything is less but that is before you add in my wait time. Utterly insane!! I saw at least 2 other customers bolt after waiting the same length of time and if they weren't pulling my car in the bay right as I was asking for my key I would have left too. Rip off artists ! quoted me $1300 for struts when I got the exact same monroe parts installed for $400 somewhere else on moreland ave in Atlanta. Manager has marketing/revenue strategy calls within ear shot of customers I actually heard him say that people are getting charged for "brake checks" when Pep Boys isn't even doing the brake checks. They told me I needed new brake pads and rotors then when I asked them to show me my rotors they admitted that I did not need new rotors. wow! Well let's see, should I talk about the first time they messed up, or when they where finished with my car but forgot to call me so I had to get an Uber to get to work cause they "forgot" to tell me my car was finished. Or should I talk about the time which I spent $678 to get something fixed on my breaks, and the problem was still there, came back, a different mechanic said they had missed something, spent another $100, and guess what, PROBLEM STILL ISN'T FIXED. Use Yelp often, but haven't been compelled to create an account until today. I ignored the reviews on this particular location because it's so close to work. Called in the morning and explained that my break lights weren't working even though I had recently replaced the bulbs. The lady told me that it would be $39.99 for an electrical diagnostic test and at the completion of that test I could either have the work done or take the vehicle. I dropped it off. 3 hours later I call them (for the 3rd time) and I'm told that the car was ready and I could come pick it up. I asked what they found. She put me on hold for 16 minutes and never picked back up. Finally I got a buddy to drive me back up there. I was there for an hour while they tried to find my paperwork and keys. They told me that it wasn't electrical that it was just the break switch and they would charge me an additional $30 to replace it. The part wasn't in however so they said I could take my vehicle and pay for everything once the part comes in. They called later and said it would actually be about $200 + the $40 for diagnostic. I decided that night that I wouldn't do the work with them. Called to pay the diagnostic and was told then that it was $99 for the diagnostic. I argued that I was told $39 a couple of times and she said that price was only good if we did the work with Pep Boys (in contrast to what we had been told already). She said she couldn't authorize this change that we needed to call back in the morning. Before calling back, we called a few other pep boys. All electrical diagnostic checks ranged from $39.99 to $44.99, yet they wanted to charge us more than double that all of a sudden. We ended up having to pay $54.99 which they said was a 50% discount. I deal with stuff pretty well typically and try not to let it affect me. But this experience was awful. Not only will I never go back to this location, but I won't go back to a Pep Boys ever again. And I'll do my best to keep friends and family from going again. Nothing about this experience was handled correctly. From the poor customer service on the front end to the borderline theft regarding the pricing. Absolutely avoid this place at all cost. read more

The guy from this store first told me that all the tires I got were the wrong size and I need to go back the original seller. Then he told me that he made a mistake but still cannot help and I still need to go back to the other stores to get it fixed or I can pay him$ 80+ to him after $35 warranty rebate, but I spent $69. in the tire originally. So I would pay MORE even with warranty! That is ridiculous! I drove 13 miles to get back to the seller store and get this problem fixed. And their customer service is way better.
