Took my car in for inspection today. When I got home the state form says maximum charge of $30. They charged me $40. The receipt says customer was informed of the increased charge and approved it, which is a lie. No one said a word to me. I called and complained but got nowhere with Logan. Will not be going back ever. Been going there for years. read more

They tried to charge me $1,600 for a new alternator and serpentine belt because my car wouldn't start, when I just needed to clean the battery terminals with isopropyl alcohol and a metal brush, or a $4 cleaner can from Walmart. I've honestly been here 10+ times and I've had the best customer service each time. They're helpful and don't try to sell you things you do not need. Anytime I've had an issue with my car they explain it in detail and go over the priority items first. I get my oil changes and inspections done here. I've also had new brakes and new tires installed. This location is less than a mile from my house, so I have been using them since they opened about 2 years ago. I never go in there that they don't try to sell me additional services and I am strongly encouraged to spend a boat load of money. The up-sale is never less than $800. This is annoying but I can deal with that. The Service managers are a bit patronizing. When I was giving a history of a recent repair and explained what I had done, he looked at me as if I had said I had tried to handle things by setting fire to the car or something equally ridiculous. But I can handle that too. What I cannot handle is the $35.00 "Shop Fee". Apparently this is a random fee applied to everyone's bill... for what? The ability to sit in the waiting area? The TV playing sports news in the waiting area? The ability to overpay for a soda in the waiting room? Wi-fi? Access to the restroom? What? What is that for? When I asked about it, I was told it could not be waived. I WILL NEVER BRING ANOTHER VEHICLE HERE AGAIN! I have 6 vehicles that need regular service, maintenance and repair, but I will find and give my hard earned money to an individually owned repair shop. read more

I needed an oil change and new brake pads, because I'm going on a trip in a few weeks. This place is right near my work, so I scheduled an appointment online, dropped it off and went to work. I got a call from Herb, the store manager about an hour and a half after I'd left to inform me that there was plenty of life left on my pads, and they didn't need a replacement. All I needed was a flush, and my rotors resurfaced. I was prepared to spend about $250 for the oil change and brakes, and because of Herb's honesty, I spent $83! I had even asked Herb to check out my belts (another shop I went to on Saturday for an alignment told me I was missing my serpentine belt), and he didn't charge me for that. He just informed me that I was missing the belt that controls my A/C and power steering, because my compressor is locked up. I already knew that, but he was honest and didn't try to scare me about the safety of my vehicle like the other location did. I cannot stand shops that think because I'm a female, I know nothing about cars, and attempt to squeeze more money from me. If this is the kind of honesty and customer service this store offers, I'm taking my car here from now on for any work I need done. Everyone at the store was very friendly, and helpful. Herb has blown me away with his professionalism, his honesty, attention to detail, and customer service. Definitely will be returning to this location, and this is now my go-to place. read more

I went to this Pep Boys to get a Pre-purchase Inspection on a used car today and had a great experience. I had taken the car out on a test drive and needed a same-day inspection (car market is nuts these days!) and this location was able to accommodate me on short notice. They were very personable and professional - super friendly guys. They kept me in the loop about how long it would take. As someone who's really not car savvy, I'm always afraid that I'll feel intimidated walking into an auto shop, but the atmosphere was very relaxed and professional. The inspection price also cost less than I expected; very reasonable. Unfortunately, this particular location is too far for me to patronize regularly, but I definitely recommend it. read more

During a recent stay at my mothers, I wanted to get my air conditioning checked out. I went to the Pep Boys Auto Service on Fayetteville Road. Just a few minutes away. Stopped in on Monday to get my air conditioning checked out. They found a problem with a hose. They went and ordered the hose, and had it on hand when they said they would. Made an appointment to bring the car back in the next day. Scheduling appointments were very simple. After the first visit, every time I walked in the door I was greeted by name. Herb is a great asset to the business. Every step of the way of the repair, Herb kept me informed as to what they were doing and why they were doing it. Herb kept changing out an air conditioning hose very stress free. The repair shop was clean, waiting room clean. Love the fact that they have wi-fi, along with three stations that can be used to charge devices. While I live in Durham, it is worth the drive to be treated this way. This will not be my last time here. This will be my "go to" place for auto repairs. read more

DON'T EVER TAKE YOUR CAR THERE !! You have been warned...they did a terrible job on my husbands truck he had 4 tires put on they never balanced them right. We went back twice and still never corrected the problem. Not to mention one of their illiterate employees felt the need to take the truck for a joy ride before returning back to the shop. We never signed anything that stated someone could drive the vehicle. I'm under the impression that they do this thing on a regular basis. So imagine you take you car there and some nasty, greasy, illiterate, inconsiderate asshole takes your hard earned money for a joy ride and laughs about it when approached. Meanwhile the manager watches this all go down never once try's to resolve the problem or talk with the employee regarding the vehicle. I will never take our vehicles there for any services in the future. I'd rather let a bum fix my car before letting an unskilled high school drop out from Pep Boys!! read more

We brought my daughters car in for two new tires and found out that the tire still had wheel locks on them which the dealership and told us they had removed. The people at Pep Boys remove them for us at no charge. They were thorough, fast and efficient. And Crystal, the girl who works at the front, is very knowledgeable and so sweet!
