I went into this Pep Boys at 7:20 PM to get my car inspected. Being from out of state and never having had an NC car inspection, I figured it was a quick thing and I'd be out well before their closing time of 8. Turns out it takes about 45 minutes. I was about to just leave and come back the next day, yet they did my inspection that night and were super nice about it. While I waited for the inspection, I wandered around the store and had a nice conversation with an employee. She was avery willing to help me and answered any random question I had. I would not recommend this place for tires or to work on your car everything I've had done to my car I've had to have it redone at NTB they charge you an astronomical price here at this establishment and when it's their fault they still charge you a fee which I think is crazy they have a manager there by the name of Caesar who's a complete jerk and very unprofessional and will not own up to the problems that they have in that store I would not recommend anybody to bring their stuff into the store read more

I went in for a brake inspection. The boys did it timely and didn't try to upsell. I knew they needed work and they gave me the price points and recommendations to let me decide. For that and their customer service I decided to move forward. It was about two hour turnaround time for everything with an appointment. I'll be honest, being a chain you never know, but I would definitely recommend! I will say, you have to be patient. A lot of people came in without appointments and they were doing the best they could. Given the times, don't expect rapid service on a weekend when your car needs work, but they will take care of you. read more

Headed here for a last minute oil change about an hour before they closed. They were the only auto shop in the area that had later flexible hours, as most of the other chains close at 5 or 6. I didn't get the name of the girl that helped me, but she was very kind and knowledgeable. Very reasonable prices and would definitely return here again for car service! read more

I am a new customer to Pep boys and I have never had a problem until today. I needed my car inspection and I cant remember why I went to this location as it is rather far from my house. I went in for my first inspection (06-30-2017 by Salvador Hernandez) and then I failed which was fine was told that it was my windshield wiper and the exhaust system. Once both item were fixed I returned (07-30-2017 Daniel Sinclair) within the 60 days to be reinspected. I failed once again because my check engine light came on. I returned to this location on august 30 to have my car inspected again but unfortunately they were extremely busy and I could not receive my inspection. I asked if there was any way I could get it don't today because I was on a time crunch and the guy working the counter told me I had another 30 days to get it inspected and that I would be fine if I came back . So here it is today and I drop my car off some time between 12:45 and 1:15 and said that I need it to be reinspected. The man at the counter said that it would be a couple of hours and that he could send me a text message when my car was ready. I walked around the shopping center and found things to do just waiting until I got the text. At around 3:30 I headed back to the shop to see what was going on with my car since it had been almost 2 hours and I still hadn't received my text. I got to the shop close to 3:45 to see my vehicle parked on the side of the building like it had already been serviced. I walked in the door and someone different was behind the counter and told me that my car was ready and that he just need to find the paper work that said I passed inspection. After a few minutes of not being able to find my stuff , he gets on the phone with someone to ask where my paperwork is. The man on the phone tells him that he didn't even complete my inspection because my headlight cover is cracked and that my car was in the system as being inspected at another shop, and that I am now outside of the 60 day period. I then replied that the actual light is working just the cover is cracked, he then said it doesn't matter, and that it is in the system as the reason I failed (he did not produce any paperwork to that affect). Even after I told him that it went through inspection twice and no record shows i failed for my headlight, nor could he show it in the system. First of all, the very first time I got inspected , I was told that I HAD to come back the same place of inspection. Its also listed on the inspection statement , so I was well aware of where I need to take my car. Secondly, on the two inspection sheets that I have, my headlight isn't listed as failed, so for him to tell me its in the computer as failed is incorrect. Lastly, I am not too upset about the confusion with the date and the time frame but I wish there was a better explanation of the process. After this whole ordeal i decided that since i had to repay for another inspection i would take my money and business to an establishment that the entire staff knows what they are doing. read more

I scheduled service in advance for an inspection, brakes and tires. They couldn't do the inspection because the certified person didn't show up for work, they didn't have brake pads for all 4 wheels, they had to make a run to another store to get the tires I wanted to purchase and they didn't even balance them so the car shakes on the highway now and they broke a lug off, didn't tell me or fix it. I saw a lot of shenanigans while I was there, one of the service techs was driving customers cars with the drivers door open, one foot hanging out and dragging on the ground. Oh and i"m pretty sure the kid at the counter was stoned by the glazed look on his face and the bloodshot eyes. I can't drive the car on the highway because of the rattle. Huge disappointment from the last time I bought tires at this location. read more

Customer service is terrible, manager James wanted me to change my battery on my car in the rain. He was very unhelpful. He also did not want to provide correct tools to place the battery. Brought my car to pep boys for annual inspection and turns out the car failed because of two tires. The tires had 40,000 miles on it with a 60,000 mile warranty I knew they still had some tread left so I questioned. They had 2 tires they were going to sell me in order to pass inspection but I declined as I was not ready to buy tires. I reviewed their recommendation and noticed that the 2 new tires 215R50-18 did not match the 215R40-18 that were on the car. Bottom line: the car would have been less safe to drive than when I brought it in. Having this Pepboys overseeing car inspections is truly a conflict of interest. Stay away! John D read more

I can't believe this place! I took my car in because the AC wasn't working and they had my car for a whole day and didn't call me, I had to call them back for them to tell me that they couldn't fix my car. Luckily, they didn't charge me anything. But, my boyfriend just took his car there today and his AC was working but not blowing the really cold AC that it should. (Mind you, it was still blowing cold air.) He waited for over an hour and had an appt!! They took his car in and looked at it, then comes to find out the AC was blowing HOT air when he got his car back. Are you serious?!?!?! They do NOT have good people working for them and they are screwing up people's vehicles!!! He asked to speak the manager and they said for him to open a claim with corporate, seriously???? I will be back and fight this until I know why his car was messed with and the AC got ruined. Terrible business!!!! Never again. read more

I went there on Thursday, April 18,2019. I had an appointment time of 08:00 AM. I went there to get 2 tires put on. It took them 2 and a half hours to put two tires on. No explanation. Called corporate to inquire why that took so long. They agreed it was too long and said one tire usually takes 30 minutes to install. 30 minutes is also very long and unreasonable. They informed us that we would have to follow their chain of command and speak with the store manager. We did. He did nothing but offer excuse after excuse. The appointment was for 8am. The very first one they had. He says they had 3 8am appointments that day AND ITS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE! He also said they have 10 bays so there could be up to 10 8am APPOINTMENTS! How do I make a 8am appointment, then be told after the fact that unfortunately because the other 8am appointments got ther first, I have to wait until those are done first? How is this an actual 8am appointment? It isn't. Then we're given a doctor's office excuse about late appointments. Really??? Wow! Talk about not owning the situation and deflecting. Making it our fault we didn't get there before the other 8am appointments!!! How about be honest and only schedule as many appointments per hour as you can handle? So be warned, you appointment time means NOTHING to them. It took another call to corporate to speak to the Area manager. No call from that manager, but the store manager calls back and says the Area manager offered a partial refund of one tire. Well, it's almost the cost of one tire. A few dollars short. Easy for them to do since they aren't losing much money on that due to the markup of tires. We are now waiting on the refund. It's been 4 days and no refund. We were supposed to get an email confirmation from the store manager but didn't receive it. Yes, spam checked. The store manager said he cannot send another email. He did give a confirmation number, for what that's worth. Still waiting on the refund. Called the bank and they see nothing. It would seem they just issue exuses for everything. read more

4 hours to change a tire and the car hasnt made it into the bay yet.. they further stripped the lug. I took it to a european autoworks in morrisville and it was fixed in 30 minutes.. no damage to the tire, rim, etc. $50. read more

Called about having wheel bearings pressed. They quoted me one price which was reasonable since I had already taken the knuckles off the two front wheels, but once I got there the price changes to more than double. I was told that was the hourly rate that's quoted in the book. Well, no shit! That's if you have to do the entire job there! Since I had already done half the job why would I have to pay them to do something I already did myself? All I needed was them to use the hydronic press for 2 wheel bearings. Press out. Press in. They will try to raped you with their prices. Ended up going to the Ford service center at the dealership. Don't waste your time going here. read more

Would not recommend EVER. ZERO STARS IF AN OPTION FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Been using this Pep Boys location for years. The way I was treated this week I will never recommend this location. I had an appointment on Sunday morning for an estimate of my AC compressor replacement. Sunday night, after having it for almost 8 hours I was told "we want to be sure we give you an accurate estimate as more parts might be needed,since its the compressor we'll have it up in the morning and will call you then." Next morning comes, no call as of 11:30. I finally called and was given the run around "we have to put blue dye in the lines, its up now we'll call you back shortly" this was at noon. Four hours later I called and called and kept being put on hold and no one answering. Now its closing time 6PM and phones had already rolled over to a voicemail. No call with an update nothing. I had to call the next morning DAY 3, just to get yet another run around, this is so unacceptable on so many levels. I got there as soon as could to get my car as enough was enough. This was just for an estimate not a repair. I was also charged twice the amount then what the website states for an AC estimate. Back to Chevy I go to have my AC compressor replaced, their customer service always has been and is exceptional. Thought I was getting a second opinion to save some money. Turns out Pep Boys was trying to overcharge me for items that I do not need. read more

Beware! Beware! Avoid this service department at all costs! Using them to simply change my headlight bulbs has turned into a consumer nightmare! The Manager, Mike McFadden, is a terrible manager and business person. I initially asked if they had a technician that could change the headlight bulbs on my 05 Jaguar X-type. Salvatore assured me that they did. After I picked up the car, I noticed that the right headlight was aimed up toward the tree tops. The other was tilted at an angle. I washed the car and noticed there was considerable moisture inside the lens of the right headlight. Upon inspection, I found the rear housing was not spring-clipped closed on one side and was open. Upon removal of the rear housing, I found that the spring clip was not properly clipped into its base, and that part of the edging of the rear housing was broken off. I also noticed that the light bulb assembly was totally loose, which I ultimately learned, via u-tube, that the headlight adjusters were broken. I also found that the bulb retaining spring clip was not clipped into its base. I made arrangements to meet with the Service Manager to show him the broken part. He immediately started telling me that his technician could not have done this. He adamantly continued to spew denial of responsibility until I couldn't take it anymore, and I forcefully told him that he was frustrating me. I later brought the car in for him to inspect. I had ordered the cheapest used headlight assembly I could find on e-bay for $110.00. Mike checked out the headlight in the car and he wondered why the light bulb assembly was flopping around. He then checked the left headlight and found that the bulb assembly was flopping around there also. While continuing to deny responsibility, I asked if he had spoken to his technician about the work done and he said "no." He said he would inspect the camera footage of the technician's work on the coming Monday and contact me on Monday or Tuesday. He had not called me by Friday so I called Pep Boys Corporate to file a complaint. Saturday morning Mike called and explained that he had "a million things" to deal with that week. He said that he had talked with the Regional Manager the night before (Friday) and that they would provide the labor to swap out the headlight assemblies if I would provide them (typically $150 - $350 used.) At that point, I came unglued. I started out as a very reasonable customer, but now I have vehement despisal of this Pep Boys and its horrible Service Manager. I am a Senior and I work as a regional manager of about 15 alarm technicians. I have always been known as a very honest man, regardless of the circumstance. Feel free to contact Westgate Auto Service in Raleigh and inquire into their experience with me over the past dozen years. Westgate was unable to change the headlight bulbs when I needed it done, hence the reason I went to Pep Boys. Pep boys has done NOTHING for me except raise my blood pressure. read more

This is a review of an experience I had today. Sadly, my expectations are somewhat low these days. It's hard to find people in retail that genuinely want to help you. Usually they really don't care but sometimes you get exceptional service that just can't be ignored. This is not a review of the service department. It is a review of one employee (his name tag said Kevin) that made a difference for me. He left me feeling like Pep Boys must be upping their game by hiring people with real knowledge, professional mindset and a great attitude. I was having car issues and I could not figure out what the problem was! I was referred to Pep Boys, and they did a diagnostic which normally is supposed to cost somewhere around $50. Boone let me know that the issue that my car was having was probably an electronic issue and that the dealer needed to check it out. He didn't make me pay for the diagnostic-- AND he was right! A fix that I feared would have cost 500+ dollars (and probably would have if diagnosed incorrectly), only cost about $80. Great customer service! read more

Pricing is deceptive, but at least the service was bad. The lady at the counter was nice, but it turned out that my online appointment didn't help when it came to paperwork or getting the work (rear brake pads) completed in a timely manner. It waited for 3 hrs. for a relatively simple repair job to be completed. The online special quoted $119 after a $40 mail in rebate. I knew that taxes would be added, but nowhere was the approx. $20 "Shop Fee" mentioned until the final bill. The $40 rebate turned out to a gift card, but the online brake special ad didn't make that fine point. I ended up paying over $200. To me that smacks of trickery if not false advertising. read more

Booked a 12pm appointment yesterday for today and received email confirmation. Chose PepBoys for their 30 minute oil change (with appointment only) guarantee. An hour goes by and I notice my car is still in the parking lot where I left it. I asked the woman at the check-in desk if she had an estimated time of how much longer my appointment would take. She told me, "well you had a few cars in front of you when you came didn't you?" I'm not sure how many cars were in front of me, but I would appreciate my appointment time being honored OR an update saying that their appointments are running behind schedule. After two hours of waiting and still no update, I walk to the car bay area and notice my car is JUST going up on the hook for an oil change. Very unprofessional customer service. I will not be returning to PepBoys for any future car needs. *Update: finally leaving at 2:28 after 2.5 hours of waiting. Only knew car was finished because I just so happened to be checking my email on my phone and saw notification email at 2:25 of oil change being complete. No apology given nor acknowledgement of the time I waited at the time of checkout. read more

This is probably the worse customer service I've ever had with my car yet. First, the man that works the front desk couldn't get his story straight on who was driving my car into the garage initially, then proceeds to tell me that there is a new problem with my vehicle that i would have to pay for. Jorge says my car wouldn't reverse/ lock-up when they were trying to pull into the garage. I found that very interesting, seeing as how i reversed in there parking lot twice before walking in. i came to get my brakes and rotors fix and would have left almost $500 in the hole if i would have let them "check" for any other problems... Holy $&@t man. Abysmal service. Brought the car in for what the tech behind the desk said was a straightforward fix. Should be ready same day, next am at the latest. Called the next day in the late afternoon and it was abundantly clear no one had even looked at the car yet. After them clearly scrambling around, the person on the phone said it would now be another day as they needed to order a part. They wouldn't let me talk to the person performing the repair. Decided to forgo the the repair and pick it up. When I got there, it was again clear to me that they had not looked yet. I paid $50 for bupkis. read more

So, I've never written a review in my life. Was traveling from Pa to visit our daughter when the breaks started to grind a little. By the time we got to Raleigh I knew I needed to get something done asap. Since it was Sunday and most of the shops were closed I decided to try Pep Boys. First thing I did was go online and look at the ratings. They were all over the place from 5 stars (this was an amazing place) to 1 star (Please don't ever bring your car here). With some tripidation I decided to at least go and talk to someone. Let me say, that I work on my cars a lot and have changed out breaks quite a few times. So here's what happened. First, the two front desk folks Jorg and a lady (can't remember her name) were great. They were accomodating and knew what they were talking about. I had the girl first and she immediately found my info online provided me with a free brake inspection which is usually 15 dollars and worked the qoute out. Then she reminded me there would be a least one online coupon I could use for the job. She didn't have to tell me any of this and I would have paid what they asked. As I waited for the inspection I hung around the area and over heard both of them, tell potential customers to double check things so they wouldn't have to spend money on repairs they could fix themselves. (That how you get folks to come back!) I ended up needing breaks and rotators and walk away with a bill of 287.00 after my discounts. I know it doesn't always end up being this price but I'm telling you the service was excellent and they did a great job. read more

I took my Ford Bronco to this Pep Boys for my AC system. I knew the compressor wouldn't stay on because of low pressure but I wasn't sure where the leak was. After a consultation, we decided to vac the system down, charge it and add dye to look for leaks. As soon as the system was charged the tech found that I had a small leak from the high side port. The shop was getting ready to close and they didn't have the kit for valve but assured me if I came back in in the morning they would have it and get me right in. I came back first thing and true to their word they got me right in the shop and replaced both valves with the kit. They had to recharge because of the loss of Freon overnight but did not charge me extra for it. They could have really stuck me with a hefty bill for extra Freon or to replace some part in the AC that didn't need replacing. These guys are honest and only fix what needed to be fixed. The nicest thing though, was that the technician while working on the AC noticed the fan clutch not spinning up right. I knew I had an issue with my temperature fluctuating but I could never really figure out why. I could replace the fan clutch myself and did and it solved a longstanding issue with the truck. In my experience, technicians at some of these other shops wouldn't even notice something like that much less bother to mention it to you unless they were trying to gouge you on some repairs you didn't need. I'll definitely bring my truck back in for anything else I need worked on and I have already taken my car back in for inspection here. Thanks guys! read more
