I was originally given a car with a flat tire, and when I called, Arely told me, "come in before 11am for a car, that would be fantastic, I don't use that word often." Regarding a visit in November. I made an appointment to get new tires installed on my vehicle. I left work early to make my appointment and when I arrived I was told "we can't see you today we are overbooked" I asked why they couldn't even let me know with a phone call and they had no words. Rescheduled for first thing the following morning. Following morning, tires installed, balanced and rotated. A day later I noticed my driver side tires were installed backwards (opposite of what the tread arrows indicate). I Had to go back and have them re install the tires correctly. A couple of months later I noticed my tires were constantly slowly leaking air. Due to not finding any tire punctures I ended up going to a different tire place recently to see what the issue was. Turns out the inside rims were filthy with dirt which was effecting the bead sitting on the rim correctly. It was explained to me that whoever installed the tires, did not clean out the rims which is standard practice. Additionally, it was explained. The valve stems should have been replaced and non of them were as well as when tires are balance they shouldn't have weights in more than two spots on the rim. 2 of my rims have 3 sets of weights in around the whole rim. Honestly, I've never been through so much do something as simple as this. read more

I took my daughters Hyundai in for AC service and I replaced a line myself to save money. Come to find out I pinched one of the O-Rings and it had to be replaced. The staff replaced the O-Ring and serviced the AC based on the original estimate. This was an amazing gesture of excellent customer service. All of the staff has been very kind and helpful. They took more than two hours longer than the appointment time, the dude at the counter tried to argue that we didn't have an appointment until another employee actually checked the computer and corrected him, and the dude was rude the entire time (which was entirely unprompted. Started the moment we walked in). Also my wheel was making weird ticking sounds after Pep Boys and the car would sway back and forth on the freeway and was hard to keep in the lane. Took a while to figure out that they put my front driver's-side wheel on crooked. Took it off and on again and the car was back to normal. Would not go again. They Did the oil change and gave my car a free check on basically everything and turns out there are a lot of serious issues that I was unaware of. They talked me through it and showed me at no extra charge. even gave me a discount, so I ended up paying $70 for $90 oil change and a complete car check up. If you are female or female presenting do not walk but run away from this shop. Not only did I have to suffer condescension and rudeness but the amount of male chauvinistic commentary that was made directly to at this shop about my car was astonishing. I initially came in for new tires, I paid $1000 for the set of four new tires and the service of balancing them. When I left the shop I noticed that the wheels in my car shook like a leaf whenever I went over the speed of 40 mph. I promptly brought the car back to the shop and explained it to the gentleman who made a number of comments about my driving. I explained that I needed to go over 40 mph in order to be on the freeway and asked if they could double check the car. They told me that I never paid for an alignment and that it was my imagination that the car shook. I asked them to fix the shaking and to go ahead and align the car as I thought that that was the service that I had been paying for. When I came back in to pick it up I asked why the rims of my tires were so scratched up. I have never had my rims look like that after a tire had been changed out. I have lived in Alaska for 10 years and have had to change car tires several times a year depending on the road conditions And the types of tires that were on my car. And have never seen such damage to my rims. They assured me that this was my fault and that I was likely parking my car incorrectly or scratched them on a curb. I then asked they had balance the tires and aligned the car as it had been already three hours that I have been sitting in the waiting room. They told me it would be another three hours before I could have my car so I opted to leave and come back. Upon my return I was informed that indeed it was the problem with the balancing and that the car shaking wouldn't happen any longer. I had to pay another $200 for the alignment and balancing. The gentleman made a comment to me saying "M'am a car is not a toy. You need to pay for the upkeep of the machine." I assured him that do take care of my vehicle and definitely want a safe car for my children and I to be in. However, when I made a comment about how I would've preferred for all of this to have been done earlier at the same time when I had brought the vehicle in initially and that loosing another day unexpectedly for work that was supposed to be done in the first place, they again responded that a car was not a toy and that "you needed to make sure to keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle as it was it just a simple plaything." The two men at the front desk exchanged glances and snickered. I responded that I didn't believe that it was a toy and then I used it as a tool to care for my children and I wanted to ensure that the vehicle would be safe. Three days later I noticed that the car was pulling to the right, the alignment was off and I had to return to the shop and have them redo their work. My spouse went in to drop off the car. I had him deal with them as I felt extremely unsafe. They never fixed the alignment. They told him that I had bent an axle. That was a lie. I had the car inspected by my spouses mechanic and they easily remedied the issue and had my car back to me in hours. The only reason I took the car to this place was because it was close to home and I had gone there for an oil change and was treated normally. I found the shop prior to meeting my spouse and decided to continue to use them. I was wrong, something has obviously infected this business. They treat women horribly. NEVER GO HERE. read more

He was so friendly and thoughtful and went out of his way to make me understand what my car needed and did not try to over sell me in anyway. I brought my car in at 8 o'clock in the morning and by 1 o'clock my car was finished. I use their coupons and saved some money on the brake job $40. Horrible service. Stay away. I bought tires off tire rack and had them delivered and installed at this Pep boys. They kept me waiting for 3 hours to do the job when they said it would take a bit over an hour. I checked the shop several times during the 3 hours and one or two technician were always idle. After my car was done, it was obvious that the tires weren't balanced, so I made an appointment and took my car back in. The supervisor/ manager was late and left me waiting 20 more minutes. After waiting an hour and 45 minutes the manager tells me the tires were the wrong size - I used Pep Boys recommended tire size (they were off by one inch) - he tells me they have the "right" tires but after calling "the boss" he said they won't honor the deal I had reserved and it would cost way more. This is a follow up to the update that I gave 21 days ago, stating that Pep Boys has not even tried to reach out to me to help me with my issue. I'm thinking about going to the Better Business Bureau at this point to further investigate this company which is offering road hazard warranties that are completely useless. Why they are allowed to sell these and then not help the customer when they have a legitimate issue is beyond me. This needs to be looked into by the Better Business Bureau to stop these people from fraudulently selling these plans that are useless. As I've stated before, America's Tires is awesome with their warranties, which I've used on two occasions and they've exceeded my expectations but Pep Boys should be ashamed of themselves. I'm a good loyal customer, but when I'm taken advantage of, I will continue to investigate this type of company so hopefully other people are not taken advantage of.. read more

I came in for a battery replacement because battery was leaking and damaged. The guys here took the extra mile and cleaned as much of the corrosion as possible and installed an awesome battery with a 4 year warranty. Big shout out to Brian, Edwin, and . They informed me of things that in my years of driving never knew. I was even going to replace the terminals but they did such a great job on the corrosion, it wasn't needed! Thank you guys so much for everything you guys did! The sales floor staff was very polite as well and the music was not boring either. Went to this Pep Boys today, the employee refused to wear his mask over his nose. Was breathing nice and heavy over my product, receipt and cash. I told him that the mask goes over his nose as well, he snarkily responded, "it does if i want to go to the hospital. I will hyperventilate if i put it over my nose.' Well then if thats true, which is not likely and just an excuse to not have to wear it properly and follow the law, then he should not be interacting with the customers and other employees. His obvious choice not to wear the mask properly, and the stores failure to ensure the customers are safe and the employees are following the law should not put the rest of us in harms way. It's a shame that the store managerial oversight is not enforcing the law and ensuring that masks are worn properly. If he has a legit medical condition and cannot wear a mask, then he needs to be taken out of customer interaction and work in the back. No excuses exempt him from wearing a mask... UPDATE: I find it hard to believe that the managers and owner of the store are not aware of this employees refusal to wear a mask. There was another review just like mine, someone complaining about the mask issue, but did not receive a response from the owner. However, my review contained a photo, hence the response. These guys tried to rip me off on a brake job. They told me they could not machine my rotors because they had a "lip" and they were beyond repair and needed replacement, also wanted to (needlessly) flush and refill my brake fluid for $650 total. I then took the car to my family friend mechanic who machined the rotors and replaced pads for $200. Rotors were in perfectly good/almost new condition and Pep Boys' claim that they could not be machined was a bold faced lie. They advertise brake pad replacement plus rotor resurfacing on their website for $169.99 but when you actually show up they do a bait and switch and want to charge more than $600. These guys are dishonest ripoff artists and not to be trusted. Wasted two hours of my life at that place (thankfully no money). AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! read more

I've been going to Pep Boys for over 35 years and the've always had the best prices on both parts and service. I have taken many cars in there over the years including our SUV which they replaced the clutch a few years ago it worked perfect for years until we retired it due to an engine problem. A couple times I felt they had over charged and complained to the manager and they were always nice and refunded me. Most other repair will never do that so if you're unhappy with their service they give you the finger. An example we had took our SUV to Hi tech in Moorpark because the engne light was on and they charged us a bunch of money and didn't even fix it, they just replaced a bunch of things and reset it and the light came back on two days later and they refused any refund . So I know with Pep Boys they will always back up their repairs. read more
