I was looking for a new mechanic and decided to try Schneider's Auto Repair today, and I'm really glad I did. I had a metal scraping sound coming from the right side of my car and didn't think it was the brakes. They took the time to perform a full inspection and found a bent metal part that was causing the noise. They bent it back into place and completely fixed the issue. Best part? They didn't charge me anything for the inspection or the fix. I thanked them and told them I'd be leaving a review. Needless to say, they've won a customer, hopefully for many years to come. I would not recommend going to this repair shop. I took my car in after I couldn't pass smog with a note from the smog shop saying what the issue was and which parts needed to be replaced. They ended up finding over 1700 dollars of things that he said NEEDED to fixed right now and should not be driven until fixed. It's an older car so I understood that aspect of it however, when I got my car back over a week later the car was running so much worse than before. I called them the next day explaining the issue and they told me to bring it back in but I did not have the money for them to find another 1000 dollars worth of stuff fix or not have my car for another week. I took it else wherever and would never go back or never recommend them to anyone. read more

Why is it every tine I take my car to a dealer they find 3 or 4 thousand dollars of stuff that needs to be done besides $100 the oil change I brough it in for. This time they even told me I needed new tires and sent me a picture of my bad tire. What was interesting was that the picture they sent me wasn't even my tire. So while I was at Costco I stopped by the tire shop and asked them where they recommended I go for an alignment. They gave me a card with the website of where they recommended I go and that I would get 15% off the cost. I checked it out and Schneiders Auto Repair came up. I called them and talked to Joe. He gave me the price of an alignment without any "We have to look at the car..." BS. I brought it in and dropped it off for the alignment. He said they would do a safety check too and he would call me when the car was ready. So I was waiting for the $3 or $4000 dollar repair call like usual. When he called I was ready. He said everything looked pretty good and I might want to consider replacing the brake fluid in the future. Something the dealer said I should do for over $300. I knew that was actually something that had to be done so I asked Joe how much it cost. He said $150. That is a great deal for a brake fluid replacement. So I told him to go ahead. He also said there was a thumping in the truck when they drove it and they had looked all over the truck to try and figure out what it was but couldn't find anything. I told him I had replaced the shocks last week and had lost a wrench somewhere inside the underside of the truck. I had knocked it off a bolt I was tightening and it flew somewhere above the gas tank I thought. So he laughed and said they'd try to find it. When he called me to tell me the truck was ready for pick up he said they found out what was thumping was. I had left one of the shock bolts loose and it was thumping when it went over a bump. I went to pick up the truck and expected to be charged for their "thump" search and repair but nope. Apparently they just care about their customer's and their vehicles. What an honest and quality repair company and great people. It was actually a pleasure to do business with them and there is no other place I will be taking my vehicles to be worked on. I can't remember ever dealing with an auto repair company with such integrity. What a wonderful feeling to know you can take your vehicle to be repaired and you will be treated with such honesty by competent mechanics and management. I was visiting from out of town when I had car issues, the situation was very stressful and I was super anxious that my transmission was ruined. This shop squeezed me in same day, when all of the Jeep dealerships couldn't see me until the end of the week. Ken was very helpful and explained everything to me, the prices were reasonable and I trusted what they told me. Only con was the the diagnostic fee DID NOT go towards the work I had done and it took them quite awhile to diagnose my car. I rarely write reviews, but had such a great experience at Schneider's that I need to shout them out! I drove up from LA to check out a used hybrid from a nearby dealership, and chose to get a pre-purchase inspection from the team after researching local mechanics and reading all the other great reviews. When I called, they were super helpful and able to fit me in the next morning (right before the weekend, no less). When I arrived, Joe, the Service Manager, took great care of me. He was friendly, told me what to expect, was able to get the car checked out quickly, sent me a handy digital copy of the PPI, and gave me great peace of mind in my soon-to-be purchase--plus a few helpful mindset tips on negotiating at the dealership. (Which I used successfully!) I really trust their expertise, and the price was very reasonable too. If I lived in town, I would definitely make them my mechanic! read more

Paid $140 for a six quart oil change. That price is a bit steep, but that's not why I'm leaving two stars. They said they were going to do a free bumper to bumper inspection of the vehicle. They came back to me with over $2000 of recommended services. I sensed they were trying to throw me for a loop so I took my vehicle to a mechanic I trust. He gave my vehicle an ACTUAL bumper to bumper inspection and determined than none of the items Schneider's recommended needed actual service (with the exception of the air filter). Schneider's did not do an actual inspection and instead just made recommendations based on my mileage. Whether they do a good job changing oil is of little consequence to me if they are untrustworthy. Seems like their slogan "automotive maintenance that won't make you nervous," is nothing more than hollow words to them. Will not be coming back. Small Additional Notes: -the technician never reset my oil light after changing my oil -they also messed up my tire pressures -their prices are significantly more expensive than a dealership. They quoted $415 for transmission fluid exchange when a dealer quoted $180. read more

Schneider's shop was quick, reliable, reasonable, fair, and overall amazing! We were able to get checked and serviced for a spark plug problem that was fixed in the same day. They also provided a full report (including photos!) of additional services that were *recommended* but not mandatory like engine and cabin air filter replacement. I have gone to Schneider's several times. They are honest, friendly, quick, and very competant. They will only do what is needed even if bulking up a bill is possible. I went in recently thinking all four brakes on my car needed replacement. They could have replaced all the pads and rotors. I would not have objected. Instead they let me know only the rear brakes needed replacement. They also did a 51 point check up at no charge. The only thing reported was a long overdue air filter replacement. They sent me a picture requesting my advance authorization. You can trust these guys. They will do a great job. read more

Great service and customer satisfaction. We were referred by a neighbor to try this shop to help with our car problems. Our main reason we went there was to fix the 'death wobble' on our Jeep. They were able to schedule an appointment next day and give me a diagnostic and quote of how much it will be and timeline of how long it will take. Great customer service with emailing over estimates, explaining what needed to be done, and follow up calls on the progress of the car. I was surprised by how quick they were able to complete the repairs. Once I picked up the Jeep it ran great, but to really put it to the test we went on trip up north about 600 miles round trip and did some light off roading. Guess what no 'death wobble'! read more

Went there for an alignment needed front tires aligned they charged me for four wheel alignment. When I asked why I was being charged for four wheel when you can only align the front they said the machine can only do 4 wheel alignments. Which is incorrect because you cannot align the rear of a straight axle leaf spring truck, I didn't want to continue to argue with the front desk and just paid it because I needed the front aligned. Will just go somewhere else next time, my fault for not going into great detail when I dropped the truck off but it was a basic front end alignment job didn't think I needed to go over the paperwork and communicate more than having the front aligned. read more

Schneider's isn't worth your time. I brought my vehicle in for a door lock issue; after a few days, I picked it up. I took 3 seconds to check that the locks now worked--the problem wasn't even fixed! Did they even bother retesting the issue to see if it was resolved before trying to charge me for their "service?" Evidently not. Schneider's doesn't give the time and attention your vehicle deserves. Simi has plenty of mechanics; do yourself a favor and pick a different one. Side note. They also don't take COVID seriously. Office staff only wear masks when customers approach and don't bother enforcing masks for other customers. Technicians don't mask at all, even in the office. They must not care that COVID lingers indoors. If you care about preventing the spread of infection, you won't feel safe here. read more

I have nothing short of a raving 5-Star review for Schneiders! I was referred by my boyfriend's family who has been going there for decades. I see why! Not only are they kind and have the most amazing customer service I've ever witnessed at a mechanic shop, but they are HONEST. Do you know how hard it is to find an honest mechanic? I had taken my car into the Hyundai dealership over a month ago and they said my car was great and didn't need work. My intuition told me different. It wasn't until my car wouldn't start that I knew my intuition was right. Schneiders gave me a complete breakdown of the services I needed to get done from high priority to low. They didn't push me or try to sell me anything I didn't need. They told me the facts and left it in my hands to decide. Not only that but also gave me a free car wash coupon and a fancy water bottle and pen to round out this incredible experience. Steve and Joe are amazing and make you feel safe and that you're in good hands. Even if I move out of Simi one day, I will be driving to take my car into them for maintenance. So these few 1 star reviews made me bit cautious taking my car to Schneiders, but I'm glad I did. Extremely positive experience. Took in my Range Rover for an oil change. Pricing was in-line with other Indy shops, but what you get in return is way more. They used the higher grade of Oil. Usually shops use the lower end of the allowed range to save few bucks, but at Schneiders they went by whatever dealer would have used. My car got somewhat detailed visual inspection, with pictures, notes and recommendations. All got posted on line, and I got a link to review everything. It was more detailed and better presented than my yearly medical exam with blood work ( take that Cedar Sinai). Customer service was friendly and attentive. Final report came with some suggestions of near future repairs/ maintenance, but at no point was pushy. I'm not really freaked out about COVID, but it was nice to see that their office was COVID-proofed. They even suggest you to take with you pen you sign documents with. I'm new to Simi, so I'm happy I found a place to take my cars in for service. If at any point my experience will change, I'll be back to revise this review ! LOL read more

I had an outstanding experience with Schneider's Auto Repair and highly recommend them for any car repair needs! Joe, the Service Manager, was very personable and definitely knows the business. I brought my 2001 Toyota 4-Runner in for maintenance and for a whirring sound coming from the dash every time I turned the car on. They were able to find the issue which was previously diagnosed from another mechanic who stated that there was a problem with one of the air vents and that the entire dash would need to be removed to repair. Thankfully one of Schneider's awesome mechanics (I think Anthonie) was able to find the real issue and replace the blend door actuator without removing the dash. They also provided a very thorough and comprehensive diagnostic report with pictures along with estimates for repairs that were a priority. A while ago they changed ownership. It's not what it used to be. I do not recommend this shop anymore, and will not return there. It was a total waste of my time and money. Watch it when they charge!! First impressions last longest: Joe the quite rude manager, standing in front of my car, didn't even knew how to open the car hood or read the odometer. Then they charged me $166 as a suspension diagnostic fee for one tire, to tell me that (for exactly the same previously verified two hour job) he wanted to charge me 3.8 hrs @ $165/hr = $632 + the generic grey market part $622 + tax, marked up like 100% of course Joe doesn't disclose the brand. (I researched it from the best brands $304 with Tax included) In total Oil change and one tire suspension work was $1700. No thank you! For the oil change they did not even use the oil recommended by the manufacturer that I mentioned to them 0-W40 Mobil one for European cars, and is specialy on the sticker on top of the motor. And Joe the manager charged me an extra $25! Hazardous materials charge for the oil change when in the same morning they wrote it down at $17.52. In addition to charging 10 Qts of oil for $125.60 when the car doesn't even fit more then 8qts. How do you managed that? Labor technician stated on the paper: David Martinez. He wasn't even around. It was all done by Danny, Joe doesn't know that? Around every corner you notice they'r not honest. The curtesy check is not done to serve the client either, it's just for them to see how they make more business.There is no report page about anything checked where they can't make more money out in the future, like tire air pressure, good brake status, all the liquids etc. Basically not a trustable mechanics shop, and specially Joe, no manners to treat customers respectful either. My advise stay away, today they don't deserve to be called a honest service anymore, maybe in some fake reviews. I hope this can help others. read more

Frank answered the phone and he was very polite and thorough. He even told me approximately, how long the job would take. Also, when I called back (There was some vehicle information Frank had asked for, however I didn't have the information in front of me.) the woman who answered (Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name.) was very courteous and thorough, as well. I took my 1995 Nissan Pickup to Schneider's based on a recommendation from West Valley Smog due to a failure to pass the Fuel Evaporation test. The folks at Schneider's found the problem, a tiny leak in a vacuum hose using a Smoke Test Diagnostic procedure. Not only did they replace the faulty hose but they also took the truck back to West Valley Smog for Chris to retest and it passed without any further problems. That's really good service, I would recommend them to everyone. read more
