My husband scheduled to have one flat tire replaced today. He called for an update after roughly 6 hours and was told by a woman with an attitude that they refused to change one tire because all 4 needed to be replaced. The manager stated he was too busy to speak with my husband by phone so the rep who answered told us that they could replace all 4 tires or put the spare tire on the car. My husband asked them to put air back in the tire and stated that we would pick it up. When we arrived, the tire was still flat and clearly had not been moved since we dropped it off. They handed my husband his keys and said nothing else. We won't be returning due to their dishonesty and terrible customer service skills. read more

Absolutely the most unethical and untrustworthy people at this location. Went in for a state inspection on a newer vehicle with 28000 miles, I was informed that the vehicle failed the inspection because the tires were cracked and had dry rot. I asked which one, they said all of them then quickly gave me a preprinted estimate to replace all four tires for $900.00. Of course, I did not buy the tires feeling like I was getting scammed into buying tires. I paid the bill and headed over to another local tire retailer and explained what happened, they inspected the tires and said that they saw no cracking and a small amount of dry rot, but it was nowhere near the point of failing the inspection. Good job Pep Boys! you got my $24.00 but you lost a customer for life, and I will tell everyone I know about your deceptive practices. read more

Called this morning and they were nice enough to fit my car in for an alignment, rotation and balance. Waiting area very clean, soda machine and coffee available. TV with news on to keep you entertained, couple of chairs and a few high top tables to work at. My car was done in about two hours. $106 total for my 4WD SUV. They were nice enough to give me quotes for a new battery for my daughter's SUV - their price was $45 lower than at Ford! Wow. Very professional employees, courteous, and I didn't feel taken advantage of (as I have at a few other local places). I feel very comfortable returning to this Pep Boys. I've never had problems here before but right before hurricane ian came I went to get gas at lowes. I ended up with a flat tire and since pep boys was the closest place I went there. They changed my tire and put the donut on and gave me the price of a new one but told me they couldn't do that until next week. Cool, no biggie a hurricane was coming I wasn't going anywhere. Come Tuesday, I was really close to a different shop so stopped there. I was there for 3 hours, only to be told that my flat tire wasn't back in the trunk. I drove to Pep boys. I scheduled an appointment to have my husbands flat tire fixed. The store called him and told him they are too busy for his SCHEDULED appointment! They said he can drop off the tire and they can fix it and we can pick it up - without having a mechanic put it back on my husbands truck! So, how are we supposed to get it back on his truck? Makes no sense and this is extremely unprofessional for them to cancel a scheduled appointment. They need to tell walk-ins to schedule appointments so that they aren't cancelling scheduled appointments for walk in appointments. I noticed an issue with my front tire that needed immediate attention. After careful review of the pep boys website, I booked an appointment at approximately 12pm EST for a confirmed appointment at 3pm to have two tires replaced that were showing in stock and available same day. After traveling 26 minutes to get there and arriving at 2:40pm EST (since I was being respectful and accountable for showing up on time), while checking in, I was told that the tires I had selected and received a confirmation for were not at the shop. After some information was entered into the computer, I was told that the tires were not available anywhere. The person I spoke with, Joseph, asked me if I would consider another tire (of course which would cost more money). Since I needed to have tires replaced immediately, I said that I would be, even if I had to wait for a longer period of time. Again, since I was not in a position to say no, I agreed. When additional steps were taken to search for two different tires, I was told that there no tires available at all and to come back on Monday or go somewhere else that could see me Saturday afternoon. As it turns out, being so late in the day, there were no other options with different companies. Joseph looked at the tire and told me that I should not be driving my car. I was then told by Joseph that this was not his fault, but the website's fault. Somewhat difficult for me to complain to a computer. I then had to drive 26 minutes back home on a compromised tire. While I understand that at that moment, Joseph's hands were tied, I felt like I had been deceived and it was my misfortune that nothing could be done. This encounter has made be believe that Pep Boys doesn't really care about customers and now I am left having to scramble to find another option to gets my tires replaced. I was also inconvenienced by not having access to my car until tomorrow. Needless to say, I found a different company that will replace my tires and was assured over the phone that the tires I selected will be available, consistent to what their website indicated. read more

I made an appointment and when I brought my car in on the assigned morning, they had staffing issues that had them backed up and overbooked. However, they still managed to deliver excellent, timely service and got my car done on time. staffing issues are no joke and i wanted to commend the manager for keeping poise under pressure and the staff for working hard under the increased workload. I took my vehicle in and when they performed a brake job and oil change they entered in the wrong mileage on the car which showed up on a car fax report and caused a huge issue with an extended warranty company. The manager initially said that the tech had entered in the mileage and that was that. I complained to the corporate office and the manager called me this morning saying to call him back and tell him the correct mileage and he would make a ticket with that mileage, being helpful would have been better last week. Also, they did the rear brakes on our car which has tire pressure monitoring and the rear tire pressure monitoring system won't work now. Car failed because check engine light was on and none of the brake lights worked. I was told that they would have to do a diagnostic check for the engine light and replace all the bulbs for the brake lights. Seemed fishy as I had checked the car prior to the appointment and the check engine light was not on and all the lights worked. Took the car back home and checked the fuse panel. The brake light fuse was missing! Fuses don't fall out on their own. Installed a new fuse and all the lights work...a miracle! Still have to figure out what they did to get the check engine light on but stay away from these guys, they will suck you dry. read more

The service manager Joe is amazing! We are from Maryland and we were driving through NC on our way to SC. We broke down on a late Saturday afternoon. We called AAA for a tow truck and this Pep Boys was the closed mechanic that was still open. When we finally got to there Joe met us outside and knowing the make/model of our truck and what is was doing he said it's probably the fuel pump but I'll see what codes the computer shows. The computer showed it needed a Mass Air Flow Sensor and this is a much cheaper repair than the fuel pump. He did the repair quickly and we thought we were on our way. Unfortunately we only made it about 10 minutes away and the truck did the same thing again and we were stalled. We called Joe and he got in his personal vehicle and drove to where we were stranded. At this point he said it's definitely the fuel pump. He got a Pep Boys tow truck for us and then he put my whole family in his personal vehicle and drove us to a nearby hotel. I have a 7 and 11 year old and they had been up since 5am, stuck on the side of a highway for over 3 hours in 95+ degree heat and they were just done for the day. Pep Boys normally does not do service work other than oil changes on Sunday but Joe said he got someone to work the counter and he was personally going to work on our truck on Sunday. We decided to get a rental car and continue on with our vacation and we would see him Tuesday. We picked up our truck on Tuesday and everything has been great. Joe could have told me from the start it's the fuel pump and I would have never questioned him. Instead he showed honesty and integrity and did what the error code said instead of taking advantage of us. When it did end up being the fuel pump he was able to put our original air flow sensor back in so he credited that service toward the pump replacement. He did not charge us for two services since the first one was not needed (not his fault at all). The low pressure from the fuel pump was causing the error code so he did what he should have. I am very impressed with his honesty and him making sure we were taken care of. I wish all customer service people were as easy to deal with. I would recommend everyone living in this area to use this Pep Boys! read more
