Brought our car in to have 4 new tires put on and balanced. Apparently they check the alignment for free, so it's good to know that it's included in the price. For 4 new tires it cost us around $650, and it took a little under 2 hours to complete the job. Obviously, previous customers receive their services first. My husband and I made the most of our wait, and we walked over to have breakfast at the Waffle House across the street. When we arrived that morning, we had the pleasure of speaking with Gil. He was good mannered, knowledgeable, and overall understanding of what it is to be a great customer service representative. More places should have a Gil at the front of the house. Once we were all set to leave, the process was quick and painless. We understood what work was performed, and all of our warranty questions were addressed. Unprofessional and botched service appointment. I had a 9am service appointment and when my car was taken in, they did not respect the appointment and treated it as a walk in queue. This wasted my time and was disrespectful to me and the effort I put in to make an appointment. Made an appointment to get my truck's safety inspection done and got Brandon c Harrop 77132 as my inspector. It took them 2 hours just to tell me it failed for a severe oil leak and rear brake are almost metal on metal. I refused service since i had driven the truck 4000 miles prior with no leaks whatsoever. This person failed my inspection and wrote up different reasons for failing it. Now i have a check engine light when there wasnt one prior or during my 1.25 hr drive to this place. I checked my rear brakes and the pads still had meat on them and i checked my oil filter and it had been loosened up. Do not go here for anything cuz theyll just scam you out of your money. Ill also be filing complaints with the state against this inspector cuz scammers shouldnt be in that position. 0 stars and should be investingated read more

I stopped in this pep boys (Winchester) for an inspection sticker when employee Aaron came out to explain to me that I had a marker light out the part was two dollars and it was $20 to slip in a new one and that my battery bolt that not secured and needed to be tightened up, and that would be an extra $10. Aaraon took me back into the garage to the technician that was inspecting my vehicle. The technician shows me that the bulb pops out the backside and just needed to plug in the new one, but it was $20 for him to plug it in ($2 for bulb) and that he would tighten my battery box. I told him if the battery wasn't installed correctly I would just take it over to Honda and have them fix it, but if it just needed the nut tightened I would do it. Then I was advised he would have to have a rejection sticker if he backed my car out of the garage, even though it still has the current sticker on it. I told him to go ahead and do the bulb but just tighten down the nut myself, he told me he would give me a rejection sticker and I would have to bring it back to have it inspected again. $30 to do 30 seconds worth of work absolute fraud. Do don't go here come to these people for anything go over to Benton tire much better people to deal with. big time regrets for dealing with this crew. Had over $2000 worth of brake work/repair work done With a 12 month - 12,000 mile warranty on the wifes car. Drove it for about 75 miles before smoke came from the front left wheel well, took it back to the Shop. Waited a week with no call..only to call in find out that i was being charged another 250$. Was lied to and told that my odometer said I had around 84k miles and that I had driven 3,000 miles since I had the work done, when in reality my odometer was at 81k as I stated to staff Over the phone...but was told "I'm pretty good about getting the odometer right" as if that's somehow reassuring. Spoke with the manager who proceeded to tell me my odometer read 84k but admitted to not having the paperwork in front of him at the time of our discussion. I picked my car up and it's still in the 81k mileage range, hopefully I won't need more work done. brought my car in at 12:30 for an inspection. technician stated there's 5 vehicles before me. roughly 2 1-2/3 hour wait. i say ok and walk around winchester for a little (im from out of town so id figure id see what's up) call at 2:55, technician says my car is next up so I walk back and lo and behold my car still hasn't moved. so i sit and wait a little longer, then my phone almost dies so i ask for my keys and sit in my car for a little to charge my phone. during that time 3 separate cars pulled up and we're almost immediately taken to the bay. furthermore i was told when i returned that the guy who was doing my inspection was on lunch break. this was at 3:30, it is now 5:00 and my keys are still sitting in the basket at the front, and he has my car plus 2 additional cars to do before 7, furthermore there were multiple people just hanging out at the front desk and only one was actually taking info and talking to customers, rest look like technicians just chilling. if you need an inspection save the headache and go somewhere else. read more

They were ordered and I received a call the day they came in to schedule to have them put on. This alone is fantastic customer service! I couldn't have been happier with the management and technician's service. Since I could remove the tires and rims they were able to get us back on the road within an hour! Total delay was 2 hours to our already 8 hour drive to our lane house instead of the possible added 4 hours. From the phone call James ensured the tires were in stock. After mounting and balancing the tires and I mounted the rims, Anthony ensured the proper torque even after the deal was done. Courteous, engaging, proficient and added with a clear desire for quality mean I'd use them again with both my Porsche Cayenne and Mastercraft trailer anytime. Special thanks to James and Anthony. Ask for them, you are sure to not be disappointed. An added perspective-- it would have been easy to gouge us on the price for labor and materials considering our disadvantage. Really unprofessional stuff I put my car for an inspection and it was one of the first cars in at 8am ( when they open) and they told me I should be like 1 hour to 1:30 minutes most. I call five hours later and they were like it's still gonna be an hour. They also admitted to pushing my car back for no reason at all. I brought my car in for an oil change appointment, which was done like I asked for. When I was getting ready to checkout, the cashier (didn't get his name) was going over the courtesy check with me. I was told that I would "need new struts on my car, or it won't pass inspection." The way it was brought to my attention, sounded like my car would fall apart if I didn't have it done that day. Mind you, if they checked the inspection sticker on my windshield it clearly is posted that my car wasn't due for inspection for another 7 months. I'm not really sure what kind of games were going to be played that day other than a financial one. Needless to say, I paid for the oil change and went to 3 different mechanics (2 in Winchester and 1 outside of Winchester) and had the struts checked. December 24th, 2021 My overall experience with the Pep Boys store in Winchester was abysmal. The tone was set by the representative that greeted me and checked me in. That individual is better placed on a lube rack or managing the parts washer. He argued with me about my appointment for a VA state inspection, despite my having made it on line (and selecting the inspection as an option). The report and recommended repair consisted of a list of deficiencies which I viewed as suspicious. I declined the repair service and asked to be checked out. I paid the inspection fee, then waited in excess of 30 minutes to receive my car back. I could see the car on the lift, it was fully assembled and two mechanics spent over 15 minutes at the overhead door, talking among themselves. I consider this a form of harassment for my not having had the repairs made. Having recently moved to Berkeley Springs, WV, I subsequently took my car back to my mechanic in Sterling, VA. Indeed, the most critical of the observations made by Pep Boys was correct (LH rear hub) and required replacement. The RH hub, however, was OK as were the front brakes that I was told were needed, and the 'headlight restore'. In fairness to the mechanic who brought my car back to me, he was polite, courteous and reiterated the need to repair the rear hub. I'm sure that my experience was not what Manny, Moe & Jack envisioned for their customers! Unless there are some major changes made with the way this business is operated, I cannot recommend it. read more

People of WINCHESTER!!! There are 35 better places to get auto help and repairs and parts in Winchester than this place... Please don't waste your hard earned money or precious time here. On a Friday after work and driving from Purcellville, my car started acting up. I took my car in to be looked at. After an hour, the gentleman brought me a receipt. $3200. Apparently EVERY component of my A/C was bad. Everything. Every plug.. every wire... Everything. Car is no good unless I fix those things. Didn't feel right to me because 2 days prior, I had Pep Boys install a brand new battery in my car. I asked him if he could just reset the computer for the new battery install and I would be on my way. Drove the car home and took it somewhere else the next morning. After an hour, these guys came out and replaced my motor fan. $275 later.... I'm back on the road. I actually took both receipts back in to Pep Boys and showed them after I fixed the motor fan. I wasn't angry... Or rude... I just wanted them to see it. Wow. That manager was belligerent with me. Told me I was dumb and that why women shouldn't work on cars. Local chain car supply shop that also does inspections , brakes , tires and more. I find myself here often- they have a good amount of car parts and prices are reasonable. I bought some tires from tire rack and had them delivered here- they are an approved installerr. I have used them before and they do great work. The staff and managers are great and very helpful. On one visit they made a mistake on my tire install so when I arrived to pick up the car was not ready - since it was going to be a while- the manager gave me a lift home - apologized for the mix up - then later delivered the vehicle after the work was completed. They absolutely will go out of the way . I trust them for my state inspections and other light repairs. If ever these is an issue they are helpful to resolve it properly. Watch for their specials and coupons - will help you save some cash. I often see specials for oil changes and brakes. read more

I found someone that did but they couldn't put them on. I bought the tire and brought it back. They were able to squeeze me in and get me back on the road. They saved the day and my little vacation. What a mixed bag of reviews... 1s and 5s. Many of the 1s are women, and we're going to buck that trend. My sister was driving from upstate New York to North Carolina and saw her tire pressure dropping fast. She called AAA who took her to Pep Boys to see if they could fix the leak. The found the air leak and plugged it no charge. She was in and out in under an hour. Courteous staff answered questions. Hard to believe given some of the other reviews, but fair is fair. This place is shady as heck. it's been a couple of years since I have need a brake job and I first noticed there was a trend toward ridiculous upselling when I called another place for a quote and was given an extravagant number, and then when I balked, the number started coming down "well that quote is with premium parts, which I do recommend, but you could get less expensive parts" and "that price would include new rotors, which you do not necessarily have to get, though I do recommend it". This did not impress me very well. So I got online and noticed that Pep Boys has a coupon for a $99 brake job after a $50 rebate, that included machining the rotors if needed. So I made an appointment for an oil change and the brake job. While I was waiting, there was a young woman who had brought her parents car in for inspection. An associate came into the waiting area (where i had to sit on some sagging old futon, eww) and told her that the car did not pass inspection and would require a $600 brake job in order to pass. She was quite surprised. I imagine if her parents thought the car was going to fail, they would have come themselves. After I had been there an hour and a half (with an appointment, remember) I was called to the front and told that my car was going to need, you guessed it, a $600 brake job (before any "discounts")!This surprised me, as my vehicle had just passed inspection somewhere else 6 weeks earlier. I smelled a rat, and rather than question why all 4 wheels needed new rotors and pads, etc or what discounts would be available, I just asked for me keys and left. I had waited an hour and a half, with an appointment, for an oil change. If I had agreed to this work, who knows how much longer i would have had to sit on that ancient swaybacked futon. I had what I had thought was a good experience at this Pep Boys a few years ago, when they told me I needed some really expensive work, and then gave me a bunch of discounts that brought the price down to a manageable level. Now I realize the price was inflated to begin with and it wasn't kindness that led to the "discounts." No way will I ever bring my vehicle there again. Don't even waste your time. Pep boys quoted $2400.00+ to install a compressor. The Dealership charged $750.00 + $180.00 for the compressor and completed it in 2 hours with no appointment. I looked up the parts and the total was less than $400.00, then pulled up videos that showed less than an hours labor on the installation with (a lift). I'm not looking for a rockbottom price in an auto mechanic but there is absolutely no way to rationalize $2000.00 in labor for this simple procedure, these guys are crooks. read more

I've been here a couple times and 3 out of 5 times they've been fine. However, this last time really pissed me off and I walked out. I picked up a gas additive, walked to the counter, and waited for one of the three guys behind the counter to do something. That's not entirely accurate, they were all doing something...one was wondering around in front and behind the counter, another was texting, and the third was a heavy set fellow talking to a pretty young lady about not a damn thing to do with vehicles. I stood there for about 5 minutes and was going to wait longer just to see how long it would take but I was just getting more mad and it was smarter to just leave.
