We ordered the chicken Milanese and salad with breaded chicken. The food was well cooked but the sauce was for the pasta was terrible. We also ordered 2 beers from a local brewery. Overall, the atmosphere is great and the drink selection is ok. The menu seemed a hit or miss. Just don't order anything with marinara sauce. This was our first time coming here and... it will not be the last!! At first coming in the temperature was a little too cold sitting down. The owner/manager instantly noticed our concern and let us know the heating was being addressed, which it was. The service is phenomenal. From the start of cocktail orders to dessert,I loved how the staff was so attentive. The plate with the bread and antipasto was delicious. The owner gave me the option for a "like" Cabernet I wanted.... instead of just giving me any "house" Cabernet they had. Which was very refreshing for a wine drinker to be given the option instead of the decision to be be made for me. The dressing on the salads were fresh and homemade. I wanted fish when I went out and was pleased to hear they had a Sole special which did not disappoint!! Everyone else was very pleased with their meals as well. And dessert was heavenly. A small quaint friendly excellent restaurant. Probably the best Italian meal I have ever had. From the Italian wine to the baked mozzarella appetizer to the chicken breast with asparagus and veal parmigiana - all were wonderfully tasty and cooked perfectly. The tiramisu desert was to die for. Staff is very friendly but expect service to be as in Italy laid back and slow, allowing you to relax without ever being rushed. I would not advise coming if you are in a rush or on a time schedule. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here after spending the cold day walking at the Storm King Art Center. Parking was easy in the public parking lot across the road. The restaurant is softly lit and elegant and we were seated in the cozy and romantic back room. The complementary antipasto was delicious. The asparagus Parmigiana wasn't smothered with Mozzerella cheese, thankfully. The perfectly cooked crisp asparagus was well seasoned and topped with a creamy fried egg. The salad, topped with shaved cheese, was just how I like it. My husband ordered the Cavatelli, a meal I dipped into more than once. Again, I was so thankful that it wasn't swimming in a red sauce. Never in my life have I ever had such a traumatic and scary experience at a restaurant. My friend is getting married, so we made reservations at Pepettini's for 8pm. Drinks did not arrive until 9pm and food did not arrive until 10pm. When speaking with the waiter about the wait, he simply said "If you don't have 3 hours and you're in a rush, I can't promise you that you will be fed." The owner got involved, took his shirt off and was trying to fight one of our guests. He shoved the other women trying to prevent him from attacking our friend. We even had to push tables and chairs to create a barrier. Most restaurants would apologize for the long wait and maybe try to comp a drink or food order. Instead, we got attacked and were forced to get the police involved. This was the scariest incident I've ever been apart of and will never go back. read more

The food was decent but two of our six entrees were cold. It took 30 minutes for them to take our order, 2 hours for dinner and then 40 minutes to even get the check. Told waiter this was not listed as such-he apologized, took it back & brought what was ordered. It Then took forever to serve our mains. The check-$22 for the Burrata appetizer! Waiter shrugged when I objected. I insisted on seeing the owner who explained it's so expensive due to the pancetta which he said "always comes with Burrata." Have never heard that before, and besides we sent Pancetta dish back. He refunded us $6. So we were charged $16 for this starter. Make sure to check your receipt carefully!!! They tried to sneak in some extra fraudulent charges. I noticed a strange charge below the tax line on our receipt. When I asked one of the servers about it - he called over another person (I assume a manager) and the "manager" looked flustered and took it off the bill without any explanation. Also, they overcharged us on our wine by $3 (we ordered 3 glasses at $8 each, but we were charged $27, not $24 like we were supposed to) and we were double charged on one of our desserts (tiramisu). also, the "specials" menu is quite extensive and there were no prices listed on them. Make sure to ask for prices before ordering. Some of the dishes we ordered from the specials menu was a bit high (close to $40 an entree). It's a shame as we had a pleasant dinner experience before we received our bill and saw the fraudulent charges for our wine, dessert and the mysterious below the tax line charge. The whole experience here was just odd. We enter the restaurant and it's very nice looking, and old bank with some of the original features left behind. I wish it was still a bank.... I usually consider the food first, so let's get that out of the way. It's box pasta with sauce and cheese, not much going beyond that. It's a throwback to the days of "Jersey Italian" where you slop some pasta on a plate and call it whatever and charge 18 dollars for it. The biggest disappointment was the use of the word homemade. The service is pretty bad, not in any way offensive, they are nice enough, but it feels like a diner where their job is write it down, get the food, go away. But I think the weirdest part was the guy who kept stumbling his way out of the kitchen with drips and drops of sauce all over himself headed to the bar. The bar is a hangout for the staff and I assume the owner as well as regulars. They talk loudly and do shots in front of everyone. And then the big guy covered in stains goes back to the kitchen to cook your food. It's one of those have to see it to believe it sort of things. You're paying top dollar for what is ultimately bad food and bad service run by people who seemingly do not care. I wish I could say we only tried this place once. But we've been on three occasions, each time thinking it would be better. It was not. read more

The bill had it at $19, $23, and $10 each and somehow totaled that to $64. Then there was $6 tax that somehow totaled to $75. We supposed the total must have somehow included the tip and left it at that. One of the most egregious overcharges we have seen in some time. A complementary antipasto dish and fantastic bread are always a lovely surprise. I ordered a Mojito and it was comparable to any I've had in Florida or the Caribbean. Great food, service and atmosphere. Small old turn of the century bank building that is very nicely updated. Could be a bit cozy if full but we had plenty of room on a weeknight. Very accommodating and attentive service. With our drinks our waitress brings a small antipasto plate; just a few bites but quite good. Bread and olive oil were fresh and tasty. We both had wedge salad with blue cheese crumbles and bacon bits; fresh crispy lettuce, plenty of flavorful but not too sharp blue cheese and nice thick bacon pieces. Can't say I ever had a wedge salad that was any better. I had chicken Marsala. Very nice Marsala sauce with plenty of mushrooms over chicken cutlets. Delicious. Sides were a mashed baked potato that was flavorful with a little crisp on the top. Other side was a veal and veggie stuffed holland pepper that could have been a meal in itself. Great flavors. Wife had chicken breast with asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Same sides. Again, delicious. Both of our sauces were savory but not overpowering. Desert was chocolate layer cake that was very much like a flourless chocolate torte. Very rich dark chocolate flavor. Coffee was strong and accompanied the desert well. This has quickly become my favorite little Italian place in the neighborhood. With beautiful outside seating and excellent service, my friends and I had a great meal. The chef, Pepe, came outside to talk to us about the menu and specials of the day and again later to make sure we were satisfied with our choices. We had the eggplant starter which was phenomenally good, we shared the bolognese, and OMG it took me back to Bologna, Italy where I fell in love with it. We also had the snapper, prepared in a lovely tomato, olive, onion sauce. Tasty does not begin to describe the dish. I give this place 5 stars for food, service, ambiance and quality. We had a bread dish served when we sat (good bread) and also a platter of two kinds of salami, some mozzarella ballls & some olives. We ordered a Bellini, $8.00. My Wife had a lamb chop, (VERY IMPRESSIVE), and I had Chicken Sorrentino (also VERY IMPRESSIVE)...The side vegetables were also very outstanding. Ruined birthday dinner! I will never go back to this restaurant. I have never been treated so poorly and was embarrassed that I ever chose this restaurant. We made a reservation for a birthday dinner at 6 o'clock on a Saturday. Our family was coming from a number of different directions to meet there. When we arrived they said our table was not ready and we had to stand outside with my 90 and 85-year-old parents standing. Continued to wait for 25 minutes with no one checking back in with us. Finally searched through the restaurant and found the waiter. Our table looked ready.. but for some reason they were making us stand and wait outside. And the owner said to us they did not want to seat us until they knew they could take our order?? They were very backed up and it would take at least an hour and a half/ 2 hours for our food to come out. (they had only been open since 5) He basically told us to leave. And suggested we try their crappy deli that was attached to the restaurant or some other place in town. We were in an area we didn't know with a large party for Saturday night. I will not forgive them for ruining the dinner and I would not trust their reservations! read more

I am a Cornwall native and tonight was our first time dining at pepettini. I was with my friend for a nice dinner sans kids. We sat in the board room. Our waiter was amazing and the food was great. However halfway through our meal a member of a larger party sitting across from us opened the back door and other members of the party went out to smoke cigarettes while keeping the door open. I got up after 20 minutes of the door being open, it's 40 degrees out and windy, and asked that we please close the door. There was a curtain blocking the open door that fell when I slid it ajar. A woman from the larger party ran over exclaiming how in all her years the curtain has never fallen. I apologized saying I'm sorry I was just asking the door be closed because it's cold and the cigarette smell is taking over. This woman got in my face, very clearly intoxicated, being rude. She then sat back down as she wasn't getting the heated confrontation she so desired. As we were finishing the meal we heard her telling the other members of the party she was going to "kick our asses out of the restaurant." We asked for our check with a very apologetic waiter who was clearly embarrassed. As it would turn out this extremely intoxicated woman is one of the owners. Beyond disgusted by this woman's classless behavior. Obviously I will never be returning. No one asked if I was okay as curtain rod that fell on my head but instead responded despicably. They are lucky I don't sue for the injuries sustained. read more
