This was hands down the worst experience I have had. This place has gone so far down hill since they have changed ownership. Our server was so incredibly rude, walked away multiple times while we were talking. Couldn't offer us any sort of drink because he didn't have his OLCC. Last I checked, water and soft drinks, don't require an OLCC. So after our food arrived, the bartender came to grab our drink order. The food was so horrible looking. We finally approached our server asking if something was wrong because of the level of attitude we had been given. He completely gas lighted us saying he felt like everything was fine when he was so obviously being rude. He was a literal robot. I asked him to talk to a manager and was told they don't have one because they are employee owed.....and it shows. So disappointed, we have come here 4-5 times a year for the past 20 years and will never return. read more

Didn't dine in, only Togo for today. Walking in was kind of confusing they don't have a host desk or sign that I saw so I didn't know where to go. Passing thru, needed some eats. I love me some good Mexican food. We actually yelped another location, however en route we saw this colorful dive looking spot. My wife demanded I stop the car and go there. Alas.... we walk inside and is very cozy and colorful! The smells of the food instantly take you. The food..... OMG THE FOOD!!! I had the Cabo San Lucas burrito plate (Steak) the rice, the beans, the steak!!! So good! Best plate outside of the southwest in some time. The chips and salsa are a must. I'm not sure what happened. This used to be my favorite restaurant but it went downhill very quickly. The menus are on printer paper glued to a folder, very limited menu, the food was not as good, the salsa is store bought, our tortillas were reheated, we could tell by the hard edges. They just let the phones ring. Felt like there was no communication within the servers, since they kept coming up to us asking if we were ready to order but we had already ordered. The staff was friendly and the food came quick. Does anyone know what happened? read more

Food is always good and service is great! Some tables are blocked off to ensure social distancing during covid which is good to see and everything was clean and everyone wearing masks. I really recommend the fajitas or enchiladas but everything I've tried so far is good. read more

Have you ever had someone tell you that it's the whole in the wall places that are the best? If you have then that's what I would tell you. If you haven't then I'd say you haven't been living....or you rich, rich. I have lived where some of the best, authentic to where you are and delicious areas for Mexican food. This place so far is the best that I have had on the PNW. I'd like to think that this is karma just doing its thing. I have tried several Mexican food restaurants here in the Portland area and this place continues to reign supreme. I will share I get the same things each visit so I don't know much about the whole menu but what I do know is the Mexican pizza and the enchiladas are phenomenal Tex Mex. For the Mexican pizza they have a few different options but I enjoy the ground beef the best. The meat is good, it's cheesy, the tomatoes lighten it up perfectly and it's just damn good. I will say that sometimes the pizza is greasy and the crust isn't as crunchy as I'd like but that's nothing that some chips and guacamole can't fix. The enchiladas have a great mild sauce and the flavor is just a great balance of spice and cheesy goodness. The do have a pretty good sized selected at the bar but I have only had margaritas and each time they don't disappoint. Only two reasons this place isn't five stars is: cleanliness; it's super dusty, there's a lot of decor and it's everywhere and inconsistent: the pizza is cooked perfectly 3 out of five times. read more

Dope spot for hot chips, deliciously spicy salsa, and other tasty Mexican dishes like tacos, Chile Rellenos, Chile Colorado etc. Definitely one of if not the best Mexican restaurants in Beaverton/Portland. Cool decor especially in the bar. Also less inflated prices than other spots with similar fare and excellent service make this a real good place to shovel delicious foods into your face. read more

Food was delicious, service was terrible. I don't think they have enough staff but it still was not good. We ordered guacamole and beans and never got it. By the time our food came I told the waiter that we never got the guacamole and bean dip and to just not worry about it and take it off our bill. When our bill came eventually they were both still on there. It took us another 10-15 min to get the waiter back over to get us a new bill. Just had lunch here. Fabulous burrito. Can feed two people easy. Old school Mexican dining that's off the map great. Very friendly crew on the floor. They were busy inside, outdoor picnic dining available. For fun I ordered a hard shell taco because they are very tough to find in this soft taco age. Terrific . 5 stars. Great hot salsa. This is the third time my wife and I have eaten here the other two times it was marginally bad but we thought we'd give them another try. So worst Carne Asada I've ever had very dry, no flavor, must've been marinated in water because it sure didn't have any lime or any other seasonings The service was terrible the guy who waited on our table found it more important to talk to the waitress rather then bring her dinner to us while it was still hot. Stole my money, bad service, unclean environment, and sub-par food. Went the other day with family and used the bathroom. Water on the floor coming from the toilet that reeked of sewage and mold climbing up the wall. We ordered and they brought me the wrong food, then attempted to pressure me into taking the wrong food. The food itself was a pitiful portion for the amount I paid, and honestly not that good. Then we waited an additional 20 minutes for the server to stop chatting on his phone in the lobby to get our check, and we were the only customers there. It's disappointing. I've been coming to Pepitas for the past 7 years. Even when I had a bad experience, I would come back because I understand people have off days. This is my first, even remotely authentic Mexican food discovery here in PNW. Walking in the door, I'm rauen back to my roots in SW Arizona. They claim via menu offerings things I expect to find but never see here. I ordered two items to try basic chili relleno, and chimi. For the relleno, I requested they use green chili sauce instead of red. The chimi came and was the literal first actually correctly made in this region of our great country. Hallelujah. The relleno would have been better if it had ground beef, but was spicy, and tasty even with only cheese. I was glad there was no red sauce in it. They were flexible, fast, and efficient. The food will definitely have me back. The margaritas were well made, and flavorful. The Hubs cleaned his plate of pollo diablo and happily wiped sweat lines from his forehead as he ate. read more

Went here because they had decent reviews for their pozole and my husband had a craving for it. My son ordered the super nachos and i ordered a grilled chicken salad. One good thing was the homemade salsa was really good and the service started out friendly enough. It went downhill from that. The cheese on th supernachos was very overcooked leaving the plate brown looking and inedible. My salad was a piece of grilled chicken on about a 1/4 cup shredded lettuce. Thrown on the plate was some raw cut green peppers and a few small orange slices. No dressing. My husband reported the pozole was just okay and the meat was tough. When we went to pay, I asked why we were charged for the inedible nachos and Daniel Hector (name on receipt) told me that we ordered it so we have to pay for it. He knew that it wasn't eaten and i expressed that yes, we ordered it but the expectation was that my son would eat and enjoy his food. He insisted that regardless of whether the food was good OR NOT, eaten or NOT touched that we pay. My husband paid and said we won't be back. There are way too many Mexican restaurants in the area for Pepitas to have this type of mediocre food and terrible customer service. read more

Hm, where do I start with this one? Well, why don't I tell you the story of a sour cream container. I drove to Pepitas to pick up my to-go order: Loco Asado (grilled chicken) plate and an order of the Caldo de Res. The reviews looked promising, but upon arriving nobody gave me standing in the middle of the dining room as a warning that I've never been there and don't know where to pick up to-go orders! Whatever, I pay my $25 for two things and drive home. Upon arriving home, I start unwrapping what is looking like the most pathetic grilled chicken I've ever seen. In fact, I've worked in F&B industry for years and this chicken was 100% made on the flat top, if not, already pre-cooked. Talk about disappointment....BUT WAIT - there's more! Let me open the bag. Oh, here it is! The Caldo de Res...in a...rinsed out sour cream container? Am I hallucinating or did my food just arrive in a leftover sour cream container? Let me repeat that. Somebody rinsed out a sour cream container (restaurant size) and hopefully washed it, and then filled it Caldo de Res. Yes, that really happened. We called the restaurant and they said sometimes they do that? HUH? Is this a bad dream or something? Don't get me wrong. I would store things in my OWN leftover sour cream container, but at a restaurant? Here's what probably happened: Caldo de res order comes in. Kitchens like "oh crap, we're out of to-go containers for the soup." Somebody says "put it in this thing." I pay and pick up that order and then proceed to call the restaurant back where they tell me sometimes they have to do that. We talked to the manager who said they wash them thoroughly. Oh, good. 1 star for the awesomely friendly staff 1 star for overall experience and crazy wild decor Based on reviews I had high hopes for Pepitas. Although located in a bit sketchy complex I gave it a whirl. First, they do not have a hostess station. I wondered around for a couple minutes until a gentelman saw me and promptly was seated. Staff here is attentive and friendly. No problem there. The decor is a bit nutty but in a fun way. As if a Mexican gift shop exploded and BOOM colorful decorations, pinatas, lighting, and gawd knows what else is plastered all over the place. My chips & salsa came out rather quickly. The chips unfortunately tasted as if they were on the verge of being stale and surprisingly could almost not eat the salsa. It was THAT hot. I love spicy foods and this was as if someone had attacked it with habenero x100. I ordered the carnitas burrito for my meal. It noted it came covered in red sauce and cheese, lettuce, sour cream, and guac. OK. When my burrito arrived it was covered in green sauce and no real cheese was to be found. It wasn't important enough to say anything so I began to eat. All in all....food was just so-so. My burrito was filled with refried beans, carnitas, and rice. Too many beans and not enough rice. The carnitas was not bad and had some nice grilled onions mixed in. Definitely a good portion but the tortilla quickly got soggy....the green sauce had little flavor...not gonna lie it all kinda just became mush. For $12.50....expensive for what you get. Likely one of the more expensive mexican restaurants in the area that's for sure and honestly, it's not worth it. I don't think I will be returning. This place always looked packed when I drive by, so on a mellow indecisive saturday, we saw Pepitas as our stomachs started to growl, and pulled in. The place is very cute, decorated like the mexican restaurants in SoCal, very colorful and festive. The chorizo and eggs is the perfect decadent breakfast, a bit greasy and spicy- prefect for that hangover cure. I also had the combo plate where I chose 2 enchiladas with rice and beans that were good, pretty standard for Mexican food. The salsa is also fresh and spicy! But the decor and the ambiance will draw me back to this place for late night fun or happy hour, I can't wait to try their margaritas! read more

Okay... this place is waaaaay under-rated. I've had 1 meal here and I am thougholy impressed. Chips were hot, 1 margarita does the job (I got mine on the rocks classic,) salsa actually had some spice to it aaaaaand flavor! I got the asada street tacos with rice and beans. Get the tacos Mexican style and ask for some cotija cheese to sprinkle on there. It was so good! The rice was ok. And the beans were solid. Can't wait to show this little place to all my friends. There are two things that I really like here. The people and the salsa. We let the people know about our son's food allergies, and they were very helpful. Much more so than most other places. As for the salsa, it was flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. The rest of the food was good, but nothing that sets it apart from any other Mexican restaurant. Although, the guacamole was whipped and tasted like something you might get from Costco. Not my favorite by any means. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong here, but I wouldn't expect to be blown away by the food. The service and salsa are both very good though. If I am ever in the area, I would go again. My first trip here was a to go order and everything was great. I expect consistency when I patron in establishment. They are inconsistent in what they offer, how they package their to go, and how their food is served. On my second trip, I ordered a bowl of tortilla soup and when I was given it to go the avocado was already inside the soup. I explained that my first trip there they did not do this and gave me the avocado on the side. I asked if this could happen this time and I was told I would have to pay for avocado if I wanted more. I was OK with that until it was going to be three dollars for half of an avocado. When I brought it to the attention of the manager/server, he was not very accommodating and was rude and saying that basically I get what I get when I go there. Went to the restaurant last year with my mother and younger brother, as we wanted to try a different Mexican restaurant. The staff was relatively friendly, and our food came in a timely manner. We were served the usual chips and salsa (Along with bean dip) prior to the meal, which the chips had good texture and were enjoyable. So the food itself was okay quality, nothing to write home about and doesn't stand out much. Why the one star review? Well the restaurant doesn't feel sanitary and clean, makes me question what's going on behind in the kitchen. When I went for the 1st time about three years ago, I literally found a hair in my food....yes you heard me right a HAIR. Didn't want to cause problem so I brushed it off and somehow forgot about it. For this recent visit, my mother mentioned she saw a mouth mark on the cup, BEFORE she even attempted to drink out of it. One of my friends always raved about this place so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. This was plan B after finding out Roxy's Island Grill already closed. We arrived and got seated promptly by the staff. Chips and salsa were delivered shortly after and we both munched in silence. The salsa is pretty spicy to my liking and soon it was empty. It's a $1 extra for refill so we waited for the entrees to arrive. The imported beers arrive with a chilled mug and lime which is greatly appreciated. About $4.50 it can be pretty spendy. The food menu itself looks very corporate and unoriginal. I wanted to get the chicken mole' enchiladas plate but I think the server confused me for regular when the food arrived. I was too tired and hungry to care so I ate it anyway. I tried my friend's mole' burrito but sadly didn't blow me away either. This is a decent place if you want the typical Mexican flare craving. It's more on the pricy side and the food is not mind blowing away. It's just average and unspectacular. read more
