Personally I believe this is the best Mexican spot I've ever been to, the red salsa poured on top of a steak burrito is to die for I've personally spoken with the owner they ensure quality fresh ingredients. From the previous reviews it looked like it was going to be hit or miss on what quality I got. Let me tell you it was a hit like a home run hit! Perfection is the only way I can describe it because it being takeout I had no hopes that it would make it to me hot, fresh or the tacos crunchy but let me tell you that the tacos tasted like they were made right in front of me and the burrito was loaded with steak and flavor! The sides were delicious as well. Refried beans and rice were prepared I'd say more authentic which I enjoy. Without going into too much nostalgia, I got the cheese and onion enchilada. That is all I ever get. It's not huge like days gone by but what I got I enjoyed. It was loaded with cheese and the onion had a nice crunch throughout. I ended up having it as a 1AM snack. I liked the rice and the nice red color was full of flavor. Actually this enchilada is my favorite in the whole TC area. Then I realized I haven't had any in awhile. I go without before I don't get perfection. I remembered how I loved the chips and I loved seeing the huge bags behind the counter. I ended up getting guacamole and chips, it filled me up enough for dinner. They have a to go case with all the salsa's and dips, just like old times at the original restaurant. read more

Been here twice now and had a good experience both times. A little bit pricier and slightly smaller burritos than chipotle, but the authenticity and small business vibe are worth it. I've had both types of chicken burritos. Both were good, but didn't wow me. Staff were very nice both times as well. I'll probably go back once or twice. read more

We got a order of lupitas to go. The lupitas were stale and we found several hairs in the ground beef. It was inedible. We called Pepitos and when they heard our complaint they credited us 25% of our order. We threw the food in the trash. read more

There is one thing you need to know about and that is the Nachos Lupitas! I don't know if any place that does anything like these and they are absolutely perfection! I remember eating them when I was younger and they had a location in Eden Prairie (bad location that the site seems to change every year), now this is the only location I know of. I have ventured to the physical location and dined in, and its nothing too fancy, but the Nachos Lupitas are the best thing ever. If you are new to the Nachos Lupitas, start with the ground beef, they are a excellent starter and not too spicy. The Spicy Pork definitely has some kick to it. The grilled chicken is delightful and a good variance to the spice if you want to get a few orders (which you likely will). read more

The food here is not good. It was cold, dry and just bad. They get an extra star for service because the people who were working were very nice. I liked the idea of the creative nachos but my steak was dry, the cheese wasn't good and they were soggy. Also, the side of guacamole tasted like the prepackaged stuff from aldi. I also got cheese enchiladas and the cheese inside wasn't even melted. The mole sauce with it was ok and the beans were just beans. There were lots of people who went in and out while I was eating and I have no idea why. The best thing I had was the salsa from the side of the restaurant. That was delicious! read more

Great food and even better people serving it! Would defiantly recommend the Lapitas (if you're having a party do not have them cook them and simply place them under the broiler when you get home). Hey Pepitos, I called today around around 2pm today and when a gentleman answered and I asked how late you were open he told me until 8pm. It's now 5:30 and I called to place a pick up order a lady answered and said " no we're closed" when I tried to ask her something she just hung up. When I tried calling back she wouldn't even bother answering and your voicemail is full! Maybe your staff needs retraining in customer service. I am a server and a bartender and really not how you answer a business phone. Especially with restaurants struggling with these covid 19 times. We are trying to support local business and my family and I have been enjoying Pepitos since we were kids. I am happy to say that Pepitos Nicollet Deli has new staff and it has returned to its former excellence. The past 2 visits remind me of the Pepitos I knew and loved. The guacamole was excellent, smooth with little red pepper flakes that give it a good kick. My chicken burrito was also excellent, full of grilled chicken. The vegetarian burrito was also very good. We got our mandatory bag of chips and they were perfectly cooked, thick and crunchy. So, I can currently recommend it again. I have loved this Pepito's since I was a kid and it's somehow so much more amazing than the restaurant on Chicago. Here's why: *Nachos Lupitas - how is something so simple, so damn tasty? Slightly sweet tortilla ovals topped with the meat of your choice, beans, cheese and a single sliver of jalapeno. Get it with both the sour cream and guacamole and you will be in heaven. *Quesadilla - think a manhole cover-sized tortilla topped with a thin layer of a blend of cheeses, black olives and jalapenos. This is truly an example where the individual components don't compare to the sum of its parts. I'm drooling thinking about this. *Queso - I love me some queso when it's done right, and it is here. It's spicy and creamy and tastes great with their homemade tortilla chips. I've eaten there a million times since I grew up not too far away in South Minneapolis. My favorite memory (and this is so random!) is when Raisa Gorbachev stopped here in 1990 when she was visiting Minnesota. I remember thinking, "well, if it's good enough for the Russian First Lady, then it must be really good...!" I wonder if she remembers this as fondly as I do? read more

The food is good, but I've tried to use a Pepitos gift card three separate times and have gotten various excuses from the computer system is down to the gift card can only be used at the restaurant. The restaurant website says that the gift cards can be used at the deli and you can even buy more gift cards on the website. It's also disheartening to patronize a "family" business that only one of the family members are working at. I frequented the Chicago Avenue restaurant often and always found at least one of Joe and Sue's kids there and sometimes one of their grandchildren. There were nieces, nephews and cousins working too. It makes me wonder why only one of the kids is working at the deli. It leaves a negative feeling for me. I'm not saying that I won't ever visit the deli, but I won't be there very often. read more

I love the main restaurant and I love this little deli even more! The tacos are absolutely delicious, heaping with freshly grilled ingredients... And the cheese - well it's shredded American, which I'm not accustomed to but LOVE! They have Sangria, awesome Guacamole and the chips are crunchy and amazing. You can even buy the salsa and guac in larger portions! They are open late and deliver after 5:00 pm most days. I moved about a year ago and I have missed Pepitos sooo much! I went to Pepitos Tex Mex tonight for some lupita and NEVER EVER AGAIN!! They are NOT the same sweet shells they use to be!!! I love Pepitos, but this location leaves much to be desired. Yes, I can get the tacos, Nachos Lupitas, and Chili Con-Queso that I love, but the service and quality as varied significantly. I've had a cold taco once. On another occasion we ordered Chips & Queso and they said they did not have any even though they had Chili Con Queso on the shelf to go. When we have had issues with our orders, the staff had difficulties understanding what was wrong or how to fix the problem because of language barriers. The prices seem to be the same as those at the main restaurant, but offen there is not a manager on the premises to monitor quality and service. At this point we prefer to pick up to-go items at the restaurant on 48th & Chicago. read more

Given the larger pepitos restaurant on Chicago ave is now closed, I'm glad this place still exists. The parking lot is small and crowded. The food mainly seems fresh however the restaurant space doesn't appear very cleanly. Also, be aware, the front door centers the space and it's freezing every time the door is opened. Used to love the pepitos restaurant, we have liked the Mexi-go deli in the past even if it's not quite exactly like the old restaurant. But we ordered for pick up today and it was extremely disappointing, there was almost no cheese on the nacho Lupitas and they were all broken. Just dry bits of chicken falling off of broken shells... I always order a chicken enchilada al a cart and this time it was covered in black beans? And almost no enchilada sauce, the main reason I love and get their enchiladas is for the sauce. After having to remove all the black beans it almost wasn't even worth trying to save the dry enchilada, very disappointing as this had always been one of my favorite places. read more
