Been coming here 20 years, never disappointed. Also try the Oxtails when they have them, melt in your mouth!

I have been here quite a few times in the past as Mom's doctor was nearby. It would appear that time has not been too kind. The selection and food quality has taken a hit. What is good is their Medianoche, a smaller version of the Cuban Sandwhich on egg bread. The cuban and their roast pork are 2 more items they excel at. The rest is touch and go. For the most part just average. The Medianoche is worth the visit. My rice and beans today were way too soupy and the main course was not good, mostly due to inexpensive ingredients and also too soupy.

Great spot for lunch. Walk in grab your tray and get in line. Someone is there to put together your plate pretty quickly and you pay up right away. Super convenient if you're in a rush and don't have time to go to a restaurant and put in an order and wait on servers to bring orders and check. I ordered the shredded pork with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. Definitely enough food to fill you up and take some Togo. The shredded pork was delicious. My mom ordered the chicken with yellow rice and green beans. Also more than enough to take some Togo. Also got an order of ham croquettes which are always yummy. For the two meals, ham croquettes with 2 sodas are bill with 20% tip came out to $38 which is expected. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant.

After trying Cool Mo's coffee, I preferred Cool Mo's bacon/egg/cheese sandwich. While Pepo's has a bigger sized sandwich, Cool Mo's had the crunchier bread and bacon. Both places had good coffee con leche. Coffee is non-refillable. Place is busy for breakfast. Doesn't have napkins on each table. I didn't get any table napkin with my dish. There's not much table service as our server is busy prepping the Cuban sandwiches for lunch hour. Not her fault. She was nice. has A/C, wifi. I have to try the other dishes and update my review then.

The service was fast and friendly even though they were busy. The price was also good and the value was good. The western omelette was good. Loved how the eggs were cooked and the green pepper and onion was sauteed and delicious it needed cheese The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was also good. The bread would have been better if it was more crunchy. The Cuban toast was Good. I only wish they served lunch all day as I really wanted to try that Cuban sandwich!! I guess I will just have to try and make it back here again before my flight back to San Diego Tomorrow morning!

Ropa vieja was very salty. Aesthetics of place below average. Green beans looked as if poured out of can. My associate and I did not enjoy.

I always look forward to trying a couple new tapas on the happy hour menu along with a couple drinks for the wife and I. Worthy of 4 stars Service is typically very accommodating and helpful. However the last time me and my family went there was a bit of a letdown. First of all it was 8 of us so they sat us at the first table when you walk in on the right. Things were going well, however after the first 10-15 minutes we realized everyone was freezing! There was a vent pushing air non stop on us and it was not enjoyable. Towards the end we had to actively leave to go outside to warm up. You may ask, did you inquire with the team to assist to see about turning the air down? We sure did, the host working that day (May 2nd evening time) said there is nothing we can do, we can't move you now that you've sat down and that they typically tell people to bring a jacket if they plan on sitting them there. Well great! Problem solved, we appreciate absolutely no heads up and now we are not enjoying our time. There was also an event going on the patio, to which they had all left and lingering outside/parking lot area, we inquired again with the host to see if we could go on the patio for the remainder of our drinks. She also said no, as there was still some time left on that parties reservation (even though no one was there). All in all, horrible host, and I won't be back with a large family after spending $400+ with the potential risk of sitting and freezing our a$$ off. However will continue to support local business with my wife and I.

The short rib empanadas were crispy on the outside and meaty inside.

I called the restaurant back and asked to speak with a manager. Instead of trying to accommodate the situation or find a reasonable solution, I was repeatedly told that they could not take my order and that I would have to physically come inside and wait for it. What made the experience even more frustrating is that the person I spoke with identified herself as Kimberly, while the receipt shows the name Maria. I would like clarification regarding this discrepancy. Overall, the customer service was extremely disappointing and unnecessarily difficult. I would appreciate a call from the manager or owner of the restaurant to discuss what happened and why a simple order could not be accommodated, particularly when I was trying to avoid an item that could cause an allergic reaction.

She also split our orders incorrectly and had to redo our receipts. I ordered a house salad and I don't know why but they added feta cheese and then charged me to add it. I explained this and they did remove it. None of these things were a huge deal but the amount of time that passed waiting and trying to get the attention of our waitress was horrendous. We were there over 2.5 hours. That being said usually the service is fine so maybe it was just a bad night.
