10/10!!! The food here is delicious!!! The small Plates were small but still filling and they weren't too pricey. Also the drinks were really good. The service was great too and the waiter frequented our table. Ambience was quiet but as happy hour rolled around it got pretty loud

Found Plate bc we were at The Yard Milkshake Bar next door - dessert comes first! Plate Tapas Grill and Lounge is lovely and eye catching. If anything, the inside reminded me of the Mangosteen in Downtown St. Pete with the decor. It had a 70's vibe with shimmer and velvet. Loved seeing it in Carrollwood. Unexpected and lovely. The food is Asian tapas style. This was perfect bc we wanted something light and tasty. Our first bites were the crispy salmon for me and the duck bao for my hubby. We both loved these! Sooo good. Def our fave. Our second was the octopus and chicken satay. They were good, but our first ones were the best. It was nice and comfy and they had great music. Our server Sarah was so sweet and helpful and had the best service with a smile. Totally felt like night and day with other places we have been recently. We will definitely come back here and get our first bites and try some other options.

It's been a while since I've hung out with an old friend of mine and his lovely wife. So I was glad that he reached out to me earlier this week and suggested we get together on Saturday night for some dinner. He suggested Plate Tapas over in the Carrollwood area. My wife and I said sure. Something new! We had no idea what this place was about until we did some research and checked out the reviews here on Yelp. Glad that we did. We were not expecting it to be a Japanese style restaurant serving small plates of different types of Asian cuisine. All kinds. The food ranging from a duck bao bun to grilled octopus to chicken with vegetables with a red curry sauce to a pork belly on rice with lemon teriyaki sauce was very tasty and filling for small portions. And surprisingly, the cost was reasonable and expected. The presentation of the food was a little boring, not very imaginative. And it could have been served all at the same time. It's a little frustrating to sit there while your companions are eating their food. The restaurant itself was modern, comfortable and hip. The atmosphere was somewhat dark with the lighting, very loud and noisy at times. Our server, Sophia, was energetic and positive and took care of all of us very well. Even the Manager stopped by to check in with us and see if we needed anything. Overall, a very nice place where the food is good and delish. Just remember that these are small portions that you may feel might be a bit expensive and that the place can get noisy at certain times. However, I would recommend it as a good food, good time type of place. Enjoy!

Went here for Saturday brunch and made a reservation a day before. Place is very new and beautiful inside. Very modern and appealing. Service was friendly and attentive. They are an Asian fusion restaurant with some sushi, poke, raw and cooked fish options, plates are small and designed to be shared. We had some mocktails which we loved, beautifully made and tasty. We ordered edamame (very well made and tasty), spicy tuna sushi roll (average), warm bowl with grilled salmon (well made, tasty and salmon was extremely tender), Japanese bbq tuna (best dish, was amazing), octopus ceviche (very average, had some weird flavor I didn't love), duck bun (pretty good), fish taco (was Asian style taco, pretty decent but nothing special). Price wise was very decent, portions were decent as well. Overall we enjoyed the place and would be back.

Excellent Tapas place. It is more like Izakaya than tapas to my opinion. But it doesn't matter. The small dishes are excellent, that was it count. Decoration also nice and contemporary. Each table has live flowers with different design vase. Very good thought to please customers. We start with grilled octopus. This is a very excellent dish. Highly recommended. The next dish we have is the snapper ponzu. This dish has masago with ponzu sauce with sashimi of snapper slice. The Yakitori we have include chicken gizzards, pork belly, beef tongue, calamari steak chicken wings. All of them are tasty. For the roll we have the snow crab, spider, and spicy steak. We also got roast duck bun, crispy tuna (recommended), pork laab taco, roasted bacon oyster. I also like the oyster. Service is good.

PLATE is a newly opened restaurant tucked next to Publix in the heart of Carrollwood, with plenty of parking and a diverse, health-conscious menu. They offer everything from poke bowls, tapas, and yakitori to tacos, soups, and salads--perfect for a variety of cravings. The space is modern and inviting, with a chic, earthy aesthetic and a laid-back luxury feel. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of room to relax. I ordered the salmon bowl which was excellent. grilled salmon served over white rice with mushrooms, sweet potatoes, broccoli, avocado, and chickpeas. You can choose between red curry or lemon teriyaki sauce; I had mine on the side to really enjoy the fresh ingredients on their own. They were out of the chicken yakitori, so I went with the steak version instead. My son ended up eating it, looked fresh and protein-packed. Really friendly service from the hostess. My daughter had just nodded off in the car after her allergy meds, and without me even asking, she offered to bring our food out. I wouldn't make a habit of it, but it was such a kind gesture. Looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu.

What a great addition to Carrollwood! They've just opened their doors and are doing a soft opening through the weekend. The bar isn't fully stocked yet, but we were assured it'll be stocked up by tonight. The vibe is very chill, the food is delicious and the service was wonderful! Everything we ordered was full of flavor. I have to say the spicy tuna crisp was my favorite! Riley, our server/bartender had great recommendations and we loved the duck empanada. We couldn't believe the portions for the price. Matthew, one of the owners, stopped by for a table visit and told us about his plans for ladies nights, with a dj for the inside and live music on the patio. I'll be back soon to try the sushi rolls!

PLATE is a new restaurant in Carrollwood by Chef Sean Thongsiri, the brilliant mind behind Mangosteen and The Glass Noodle. Plate features small plates, yakitori, warm bowls, and tacos of Asian flavors. All of the dishes are shareable (if you *want* to, although everything is tasty enough you might tell your neighbor to get their own haha) and very approachable if a customer is wary of raw seafood or if they've never had Laab style meat before. The restaurant itself is GORGEOUS. The plush seats, beautiful tile, and light fixtures makes Plate a great place for dates or a night out. There was so much thought to bringing the restaurant to life. The food of course was delicious. As the concept intended, I shared a variety of plates with my friends during our lunch visit. The ginger salad is a huge serving with lots of varieties of vegetables. The salmon ceviche and octopus ceviche were both raw options and very well seasoned. The yakitori (grill skewers) was delicious. We had the chicken oyster (thigh meat), shrimp, steak, pork belly, salmon toro (my personal favorite) and bluefin tuna. I had the eel warm bowl, which means cooked items over rice. They gave a hefty portion of eel, with sweet potato, carrots, and pickled cucumbers. It comes with your choice of Red Curry or Lemon Teriyaki sauce, with neither sounded like that great of pairing with an eel bowl. Luckily it comes on the side. I just opted out from putting it on, although the sauce itself tasted just fine. This is definitely a hot new place you're going to want to try! The plaza on Dale Mabry is quite busy, so parking may be a challenge, but the food is absolutely worth it. You gotta go!

I've been seeing this restaurant called Plate in my neighborhood for a while now, and my family and I finally went -- and let me tell you, the food was delicious! The ambiance, service was amazing, everything about the place just felt right. I truly enjoyed the entire experience and will definitely be back. I also found out that Wednesdays are Ladies' Night with live music, and the vibe is just perfect -- it honestly gives off a cool city feel right here in Carrollwood. If you haven't checked out Plate yet, I highly recommend you do. It's a great spot with good food, good energy, and a great atmosphere! It's 5 minutes from my house. It will become a regular for sure. #WesleyChapel #Carrollwood #Plate #Tampa #NewTampa #CitrusPark #egyptlake #SouthTampa #NorthTampa #riverview #brandon #lutz #LandOLakes #carrollwoodvillage

We came during a Michael Jackson themed night so the music was already amazing. Vibes here were absolutely unmatched, everyone was dancing having a good time. Bit of a wait to get inside but all in all it was totally worth the wait (about 35 minutes) the host at the door was extremely kind and friendly, the server who was attending us at our table was also very kind and attentive. The drinks were definitely the highlight of the night, I got the "What's Your Fantasy" and my Girlfriend got the "Like a Virgin" and we both loved the drinks, we also had some lemon drop shots to accompany our drinks.

It's got that all-around fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it a solid choice for drinks. Not sure how it is during the week, but it would make for a fun date night spot to grab some cocktails. That said, I had a real hang-up the last time I went with my girlfriend around Christmas. They tried to hit us with a $10 cover just to get in, on top of $15-20 cocktails. I don't mind paying for a nice spot, but the cover felt absurd, especially since it wasn't even busy. The bouncer said we could make a reservation to avoid it, so I did...and then he made us stand outside forever before letting us in. At that point, we should've just left, but since my friend had never been, we stuck it out to try the themed Christmas cocktails. Once inside, there was a two-drink minimum per person, which is kind of crazy. It feels like they jip you either way...cover or no cover, minimum spend or not. While waiting outside (for no real reason, since it was empty), we chatted with a party of six who came straight from Ash (the sister restaurant upstairs). They'd just spent over $1,000 on their meal and were still getting charged a cover to enter Alter Ego. That's poor business, don't force extra fees to guarantee money when good music, drinks, and vibes should bring people in naturally and make them want to spend. There's plenty of places on Water Street with great (and I'd say better) cocktails where you're not forced into minimums or covers. The Christmas cocktail menu was disappointing too, poor selections and way too sugary. Love the potential here, but the strict policies really turned me off and made me want to go elsewhere next time.
