I have been craving jerk pork for a very very long time, so i decided to try Peppa's. With the social distancing orders in place, they ask that only 4 people are in the store at a time. So once you order, you can step outside and wait about 10-15 mins for food to be ready. I ordered a small jerk pork and 1 festival (which is fried sweet bread that is formed into a stick) the festival was really good. They're known for their festival and i see why. The jerk was spicy but not Over the top. The first few bites are filled with heat, but it goes perfectly with the pork. They add extra jerk sauce at the end to make it perfectly saucy goodness. The reason for 4 stars is because like any Jamaican restaurant, the lack of customer service is a turn off. But other than that, i would definitely be back again. I didn't take a pic this time because i was starving lol. But i highly recommend if you're looking to cure any kind of jerk cravings. Be prepared to wait a while depending on the amount of people. Let me start by saying that lack of customer service can truly ruin a good restaurant. Yesterday, I was having a craving for jerk chicken, so I decided to stop by and support my local black business. Let me start by saying that the ordering system needs some true organization. I understand that these are some uncertain times in which social distancing is a must. However, there should be no reason that customers are outside unaware of where to place an order or pickup! I watched a customer literally storm off after asking the gentleman at the front door where to stand and was ignored. After placing my order at 6:30pm, I waited for number 84 to be called as I waited outside in the rain. What a mistake that was because the events to follow were absolutely deplorable! I waited outside for 1 hour as numbers were called in no true order. Even customers that arrived after me got their orders first! After asking the first time, the gentleman told me that there is a wait on jerk chicken. The second time around, I was told that they had not called my order yet. Please note that I am number 84 and now they've called #2. A completely new cycle. This is when I became frustrated and entered the establishment. There is no reason that a customer should wait so long on food that should be pre-prepared and ready to share. I handed my receipt over and a lady behind the counter quickly mumbles to one of the workers that my order was actually supposed to be given first. I told her "ma'am I've been waiting over an hour for my food". Even though there was clearly a mistake, my order was forgotten, and I clearly waited in the rain for 1 hour while customers were served before me, there was no apology given. Not even an acknowledgment. No apology or even some compensation for the mistake made. That was truly it for me. After receiving my order, I asked for a manager I could speak to. I was told that the manager was not present. Wow! This restaurant may have good jerk chicken but the customer service is lackadaisical. 1 hour and 10 minutes is the time it took for me to receive 3 orders of jerk chicken and pasta. This is the location with the most difficult place to park! Luckily something opened up across the street by the bank, and this was in the evening! Do not, I repeat, do not park in the McDonalds parking lot. Although it is adjacent to the building, the lot is not shared and they will tow you away! The wait will be dear here, so I ended up rejoining the line and ordering a chicken soup (delicious), eating half of it and still had no food. Total wait start to finish, about 30-40 minutes. The system they have going on is strange. One lady taking orders and passing small items like soup, and another person chopping and serving at a very limited pace. We "assumed" it was because the food was still cooking until we got home, 10 minutes away to the driest chicken in the world. The only saving grace was the festival and soup were good.
