The food came out quickly (under 15 minutes) You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The restaurant is small, but the vibe is great. The decor is vibrant, music is playing, and there are TVs throughout. Just a heads up, it's pretty loud inside. The food was average. The red snapper had a slightly sweet taste that wasn't our favorite. The mac and cheese wasn't traditional baked mac and cheese, but it was still good. The rice could have used more flavor, and the plantains tasted like they had been sitting for a while. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the menu has a lot of options. The prices are a little high, but that's expected in New York. They do have pretty decent prices for lunch so I suggest trying them for yourself during lunch hours. This location is very small, but has a really cute and colorful aesthetic. I didn't get a chance to take pictures, but the decor is eye catching and reflective of Jamaica. The glass top barrel tables are really cute, but let me move along to the service which is not the traditional waiter situation, but the staff are pretty helpful and pleasant. Really excited to have a casual, counter service style Jamaican restaurant here in the heart of LES. I was only familiar with the nearby Omar's for Caribbean food, but it's more upscale and I'm glad there's another (slightly more affordable) option in the area now. Big Up to Peppa's being in manhattan. I used to go to the original store when I stayed in Brooklyn so I'm glad to see a stable like this make its way to the city. When I heard they opened up a LES location I was very excited to come and get my jamaican craving in. I've been wanting to go to the Brooklyn location for awhile to try it and I've heard great things about this place. I asked the lady in the front some questions and wanted just a plate of jerk chicken with some rice and peas and vegetables as well as a side of plantains. When she rung me up, she charged me $23 which shocked me because I thought that was expensive for what I wanted. I confirmed with her what I wanted and she repeated exactly what I said. She asked me what sauces I wanted and said jerk sauce. Oh and she also gave me a receipt and said to listen for the number on the top left when they call your order. So then I waited for about 15 mins while other people behind me got their food first and when I finally saw the other lady pack the order- I walked up to pick it up. She yelled "rice and peas and salad and chicken" and I asked her if it was number 101. She gave me an attitude and said "i don't know, whatever the order is". I Showed her the receipt and she just shoved the food in my face as I said "thank you and have a nice day" with no reply. When I went home finally excited to eat my food, I opened it up and found two orders (one was just plantain and rice and salad). I mean come on, who orders just rice and salad and plantains? Obviously I wanted that in one order with the jerk chicken smh. Then I realized the worst part, she forgot all the sauce. Now I found this place while looking for black owned restaurants in NY and then it was also recommended by a friend. It was delicious. I gave 4/5 because the chicken wings were a little bit cold and the peppers in the Mac and cheese was a weird taste to me. The rum punch was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After getting my nails done I decided to stop around delancy to get something to eat. A bunch of places (to my unfortune was packed) but for some reason, NOT this place (BIG MISTAKE!!!) I came in and read the menu only to discover they also sell drinks. I bought the blue Hawaiian and the jerk pork (I was given an EXTRA helping) (I'm starting to think I'm highly favored) anyway, from the first sip of the drink I immediately felt my stress melt away and at the first bite of jerk pork, I knew I had made the BEST decision all week.
