    Beef Oxtail Tail Lunch Special
    Christine M.

Ordered take out from this place and the upside was my order was delivered in less than half hour. The food had decent flavor, though not strong at all. The downside was the huge piece of brown paper bag I found under my oxtail as I was making my way through it. I thought it was a grape leaf at first but I was mistaken. Incredible mistake. Im afraid to eat here again.

Rating is for the area. If this was for example Washington Heights, it would be a solid 3/low rounded 4. I heard this place used to be open a while ago and just recent reopened. I heard it was dirt cheap and good back then and nothing has changed here. The line was big the first time I came here (the first or second day they opened) and they continue to be but they go fast as the food is pre-prepped. This is honestly one of the best lunch deals in the area. Around 10 bucks gets you your choice of man dish including pernil (roast pork) with arroz con guandules (rice with pidgeon peas) y habichuelas guisadas (stewed beans, red or yellow.) A lot of people seemed to be ordering Sancocho there which is what I am getting next. The staff is friendly regardless of whether you speak Spanish or not though it does help. The only thing I don't like is their prices for drinks. Morir Sonando was 6 though the drink was pretty big.

Stewed Chicken Lunch Special with Spaghetti

Flavor's house is where the flavor's at! I got stewed chicken with spaghetti and it is delicious. meat is tender and flavorful. A take out restaurant with no seating. Food came very quickly and staff were exceptional.

Mangu con los tres golpes, was being served in the morning around 10. Don't mind the bite marks either, couldn't help myself :)

So this is the first time I had mangu con lost tres golpes and I'm veryyyyyyy happy I tried it here! The mangu is so flavorful. I don't think it's vegan unfortunately, it tastes like they flavored it with salami grease (that's traditional), so just make sure!! Generous portion too, I was able to eat it 3 separate times and still had mangu left over!! The entire plate was 5 and change so definitely a good price.

Love their food, nice people, close to my house. This is my go-to Spanish food place.

We went on Sunday at about 5:30/45 and the host said there was a wait as he was waiting for parties with reservations. So we found a reservation on open table for 6pm. Still, we waited about an hour to be seated. There shouldn't have been open reservations without table availability. The host was super nice so no blame to him but still, this was a miss for the restaurant. Others left due to the wait time. I ordered the stew chicken, my friend had the curry chicken and my sister the oxtail. They enjoyed their meals, but my chicken was overcooked and chewy. The flavor was great, however. The cabbage and rice and peas were just ok. I had the mango mojito mocktail. That was tasty and was a good amount. Lastly, we ordered the bread pudding. When we saw it, it didn't look like traditional bread pudding nor did it look very appetizing. The taste was worse than the look. It tasted like it was downed in alcohol and was hard. I couldn't eat the bite I took. We sent this back, unfortunately. So, there were good and not so good parts of my experience here.

We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The ambiance was cute and had a nice vibe, and the drinks were good as well. The only downside was the service--it was a bit slow since there seemed to be only one waiter covering the entire restaurant. Because of that, I'd probably avoid coming here if I'm on a tight schedule. That said, I'd definitely come back again when I have more time to relax and enjoy the experience.

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats

I was beyond hopeful to have a new year round jerk chicken spot. However, my hopes were stabbed in the heart when I took one bite of the plantains. These were legitimately the worst plantains I've ever had. I couldn't even believe they served us these. The plastic fork couldn't even penetrate the surface of the fried banana, they must have been sitting for DAYS. I wish they just told us they were out of plantains.
