I've been wanting to check out Birdbox for a while for the claw attached to your chicken sando. If you're coming here, you've probably seen it and here for that too. I was surprised to find that it's a ghost kitchen. You walk behind the coffee shop and order from a kiosk with many other restaurants to order from as well. My order took 15 minutes and within the estimated time frame that they gave you. Once my order was ready, I clicked to open via text and the locker popped open with my bag --viola! I ordered the Claude the Claw ($18.99) with medium spicy sauce on the side. The sandwich is pretty huge. I like how they wrapped the sandwich around the claw sticking out from the bottom. I did take it out of the wrapper for the picture, but suggest you keep the wrapper on as it gets messy to eat. The spices and flavor is delicious and the chicken is crispy and tender. It's a great Nashville hot chicken sandwich overall. While the claw is insta-worthy, it's not quite worth the extra $4 (plus you can't really even eat it, so it's all for show). I'd suggest getting the claw for your first time, but I'd get the regular sandwich in the future for the lower price. read more

I ordered from the kiosk and it texts you when you the order is ready and you click a link to unlock the door for pickup. It took about 15 min at 12pm. The meal was packaged very well! There's seats and standing tables if you wanted to eat inside. The chicken breast sando classic was a very large piece of meat, but also very juicy with a nicely flavored breading, not too thick and not overpowering. I think the toasted seasame bun gave the sandwich a lot more dynamic flavor. The coleslaw provided a little more moisure to the bite along with the Yeayo sauce. Overall, I was not a huge fan of the sauce but understand that the nutritional yeast gives it a more umami and unique flavor. read more

Best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had, even better than the fried chicken from Jacob's Pickle which is a close second. I had Claude the Claw - the claw itself was honestly just a gimmick for social media. The meat though was extremely tender and juicy. The sauce it came with was almost herbaceous and extremely umami (Michelin 2 star quality i would argue). The crispy fried dough around the chicken was very tasty as well. The Cole slaw was not creamy or sweet, very refreshing and light. If it wasn't 10000 calories I'd probably eat one every week. I went 5 min after they opened and was the last person before the Claude sold out. It was a half hour wait to order then 15-20 min to get the food. (Honestly just skip the claw.). TL;DR: Great chicken sandwiches. Ultra crispy, great sauce. Line up early, apparently they do sell out. Takeout only, too. Lined up about 30min before opening on a weekday. There was already a line and it grew a good bit more (at least ten more or so individuals/groups) by the time of opening. Ordered around 6:10 and got my food around 6:30. Seems like the usual cadence at least when opening is a 15-20min turnaround from ordering. Got the Claude sandwich (classic) with spicy yeyao sauce and money sauce. Also made it a combo so it came with fries. Order came out to be about $27 which is $$$$, but what isn't in NYC? The sandwich itself is very crispy. They really nailed it with the breading. I think the chicken is pretty well-seasoned, although the sauce itself is really what gives it that main distinct flavor (sorta like a raising cane's conundrum). Money sauce is also a nice sweet umami honey. I think the claude sandwich specifically with the leg is a bit gimmicky/for the Instagram influencers, but I recognize it's also a commentary from the founder that's meant to prove that these chickens were well cared for instead of raised in a factory farm. The spot was really cool because you don't have to interact with any people during the whole process. You order from a kiosk and the food gets delivered to a locker where you get a code to unlock it. We came here quite hungry, and we each got the claw sandwich and we got some fries as well. Something that way quickly learned as we began eating was that this meal was pretty heavy. There was a lot of chicken and the sheer amount of fried foods made it difficult to digest everything. At the end of the day while it's a very very tasty chicken sandwich I would almost up to split one with people and have something else that's nice and refreshing on the side to cut that richness. After seeing birdbox open, I have always wanted to try it and finally did last week! Got Claude the claw--I loved chewing on the claw with the tendon and crispy bits. There's no storefront or signage for the place, it's a "virtual" food hall / ghost kitchen. I walked by it 4 times before I found it despite being a native New Yorker and extremely familiar with this street - it's right next to Sony Hall, which I've been to a 100+ times... but still very hard to find! You order from a screen with about 20 different "restaurant" menus and then just wait... 2 other people - a girl who ordered before me & an UberEats dude both asked me and each other if we worked there. And by "came back" I mean from a food hall close to the location because they don't have indoor dining. I think despite all of the pain points to get to eat this chicken I still would've given it 3 stars for being ok. But a nausea set in after I was done eating. You order at a kiosk then stand outside waiting for your order. I only ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and it took about 5 minutes to get it. They still had Claude the Claw available. I didn't order it thinking it'd be too much and I wouldn't eat the claw. There's no place to sit so I took my sandwich home. I thought the initial bits of the chicken were good if not a little bland. Decided to check this place out with coworkers for lunch since it was near the office. We walked by it cause we didn't realize it was part of a food court. Ordered the Claude the Claw - Spicy Falcon that comes with a whole chicken foot with a side of crispy fries. The sandwich isn't cheap but it was tasty. It's quite spicy and can taste a hint of peppercorn in it. Also enjoyed that it was chicken thigh and not chicken breast. The waffle fries were seasoned well and remained crispy. This is the last time I let some "cool" looking chicken I saw on social media dictate what I buy. In NYC for work for the week and saw this place was nearby so thought I'd check it out. Got an order of wings (half spicy, half regular) and some waffle fries. Ordered it for takeout online to avoid the lines I've read about. In short, everything here is in dire need of SALT. The chicken was crispy and juicy despite being in a to go box and the fries were crispy as well. There's definitely some good seasoning in the sauces and the breading and there's definitely some interesting flavors going on in everything I had, but it was all just a bit too sweet and didn't have enough salt or something else savory to take it over the edge. When I went there I had to wait over an hour for the sandwich which honestly isn't a negative on their part because they are a popular restaurant rn so it's expected for them to make the customer wait. The breading tasted slippery if that makes sense and the chicken didn't taste like it had any real seasoning. I honestly had about a few bites and just threw it out.
