A couple of months ago, my friend picked up a combo plate for us and we enjoyed it! They were generous with the banchans and the food was tasty so decided to pick up our lunch from here. I ordered the BBQ Chicken for my husband without rice so I can choose an extra banchan. He chose bean sprouts, choy sum, mayo potatoes, shoyu potatoes and chop chae (noodles). It came with almost 4 pieces of chicken thighs. Asked him if he enjoyed the food? He gave me a thumbs up! I ordered the Meat Jun for myself also without rice so I can choose an extra banchan. My choices were mayo potatoes, bean sprouts, seaweed, choy sum and chop chae (noodles). They gave 3 larges pieces of Meat Jun...wish it was cut into 2" strips for easy eating. Took it home so I cut the Meat Jun and the BBQ Chicken into bite size pieces. Food came out pretty fast. When she passed me the bag, I swear it was over 5 pounds...soooo much food! It could feed us for 2 or more meals each! I like that they let you choose from 12 different banchans instead of having the same 3 banchans other Korean places prepare for all plates AND you have to take the rice. Once this happens, I usually avoid going back but...I will definitely be back at Peppa's! The workers are pleasant and food was very tasty. This place is located in the Kamehameha Shopping Center and lots of free parking.

Peppa's Korean BBQ has become one of our regular spots especially when we're not sure what to eat and find ourselves really hungry. We usually end up here at least once a month, and it never disappoints when it comes to portion size. The plates are absolutely massive, easily enough for two meals, which makes the price pretty reasonable. My usual order is the kalbi with either bbq chicken or meat junn. The kalbi is tasty, though it's cut thinner than I prefer, and the chicken can sometimes be a bit dry. Still, the flavors are solid overall. The meat junn, on the other hand, is large, flavorful, and satisfying. The sides are always a highlight. They're well prepared and complement the mains perfectly. My personal favorites are the mayo potato and long rice they're consistently good and always hit the spot. Peppa's might not be fancy, but when you're craving a hearty, filling meal, it definitely gets the job done.

Solid choice for Korean BBQ. Prices for these days isn't bad. Some of the competition is $23 or $5 more per plate. I get the combo plate and it's either two meals or share with my other half. Combos are about $21. Double protein basically. Portions are decent. Sides are very average and basic. All the usuals. If you go early they'll have egg. After lunch forget it.

Very standard spot for me to go to when I want to make sure I'm eating veggies haha. Wait is usually around 15-25 minutes. They give a little less sides now... just a bit. I normally get a yukgaejang or meat jun (or combo with kalbi). Yummy. They are inconsistent with sides, sometimes the bean sprouts are seasoned really well and other times barely seasoned. Sometimes the cucumber kimchi is bad and sometimes it's good. I tried the new spicy fried chicken this time, and it was ok. I wouldn't get it again but it wasn't bad.

Peppas Special (Kalbi, Chicken, and Beef)

Hole-in-the-wall location (like so many other Hawaii food spots) serving up Korean/Hawaiian fixings. Portions are massive here so be warned. I got the Peppas Special with comes with Kal Bi, Chicken, and beef for the proteins. Plus 4 sides of vegetables of your choice, 2 scoops of rice, and a fried man doo + zucchini. There's a lot of vegetable sides to choose from and my favorites were the mac salad and the japchae. The kimchi was kind of a let down and didn't have much flavor, which was weird because I tried my gf's spicy cucumbers (which have a similar flavor profile) and those were way better. For the meats, the Kal Bi was the best meat so I recommend getting that. The chicken was also very tender and flavorful. And the beef was just okay. You can either eat at the store or take it to-go. There's no real service as you go up to the counter, order your food, and then they'll call your number when it's ready. But overall I think this is a pretty good spot to get some good food and huge portions.

I had stopped here to pick up a plate lunch for my grandma and I to share. I got the meat jun and fish jun mixed plate with 4 sides. The sides were delicious and it's nice to have 4 sides with your entree. While I was eating the meat jun, there was a sand like texture in my mouth. I looked through the meat jun and to my horror, IT WASN'T COMPLETELY COOKED!! I was in shock and had to hurry to take it away from my grandma. My grandma is old and I didn't want her to get sick from the food. The rice was also so much that it just stuck together in one piece. With the different delicious restaurants in Kam Shopping Center, I'd give this place a pass and go somewhere where the food is cooked thoroughly.

large portions of Fish Jun but small portions of bonchon (vegetables/taegu) taegu is not available

Large portion but was not seasoned, tasted like an egg covered piece of fish. but good.

They pile the plate up. Two people can share a plate. My favorite is the kalbi and BBQ chicken combo.

The combo came with a delicious wild rice with beans and kabocha squash in a hot pot. Cold noodles were chewy and the broth was cold and flavorful. Kalbi and soft tofu soup were very good as well. This got me worried that no one will see us when we raise our hands but thankfully our server was helpful towards us. My brother and I ordered the prix fixe (prime beef 9 course meal), and some parts of it got me confused as the cost is per person but there were certain selections (such as choosing between corn cheese and steamed egg) that you only get to choose one for the TABLE instead of per PERSON. It was unfortunately not indicated on the menu. The meat quality was good, and some of the banchans were great (kimchi and potato salad). I also liked their corn cheese as it helped balance the flavor of the meats. However, for the price of $77 per person, I am not certain if the experience was worth the price tag. Maybe next time I'll try their Lunch Specials as it may have better value for money.

For 7 of us, we got the rabokki, meat jun, half order of bossam, and kimchee pancake. This was more than enough food for everyone, and we probably would have skipped the kimchee pancake next time. The food was really good, and I would definitely recommend the bossam if you're with a group. The meat is super soft and flavorful, and even the half order was a generous portion. We also ordered the lemon soju and yogurt soju pitchers. They have tablets for you to order the food, which was super convenient. The food comes out pretty quickly, and the service is friendly. The restaurant gives off Korean pub vibes, decently sized, and best suited for smaller groups. We ordered a variety of food: chicken combo, kimbap, bulgogi, bossam, and spicy rice cakes. The food was very delicious. My favorite was the bulgogi because it was tender and flavorful. I also enjoyed the spicy rice cakes, but I wish they gave a bigger portion of it.. The chicken was okay, but not something I'd order again. The spicy sauce was drenched all over the chicken and was very spicy. The regular crispy chicken didn't have enough salt for me and was overcooked.

We were told the waiter was the owner, must be under a new owner and if that's true, his behavior was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend eating somewhere where you're made to feel like an inconvenience. My soon do bu tofu soup was literally thrown onto the table, causing some of it to spilt over on the side. We were not given enough chopsticks, and when we asked for straws because the ones we had broke, his attitude became even worse. He started slamming things around, and when we tried to get his attention, he clearly heard us, laughed, said something under his breath and walked away. Thankfully, the other person working with him came over and helped us. At that point, I couldn't even enjoy my food because of how uncomfortable and unwelcome we felt. I ended up asking for my food to be packed to go. The overall atmosphere felt extremely toxic, rude, and unwelcoming. What made it even more disappointing was that we were there during a time when it wasn't even busy. I will not be returning, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend this place.
