Pepper Lunch located by the Pearl Harbor Commissary & Navy Exchange, was a delightful surprise. It's conveniently situated across from Panda Express and next to Starbucks, though the small sign might go unnoticed. Parking is ample, but be prepared to share it with other food establishments and businesses. They had a touch-screen ordering system, which was straightforward. After paying, we picked up a number buzzer and chose our seating. Place had a good amount of seating and it was good that they also provided high chairs. The beef & shrimp combo and beef & salmon combo were both incredibly delicious. The flavors were so satisfying and flavorful that we were pleasantly surprised by their quality. Once your plate arrives, it's extremely hot, so immediately mix your ingredients on the hot black skillet and savor the experience. We devoured the entire plate, especially since it was our first meal of the day. To complement our main course, we ordered sweet potato fries and chicken. Pepper Lunch is highly recommended, and we're already planning our next visit to explore the rest of their menu.

I been here twice and loved it twice first I ate their beef, then tried their pasta. Love it here... both times I ordered the jumbo. Service is fast and workers are friendly. Ambiance is loud, but not loud that u cannot hear yourself or ur guest.

Oh no, I forgot to take a picture of my dish before I ate!! Once again, the food and service were excellent! I find it's a good place to go for a meat craving, and there's vegetables and an egg too!! This is definitely a come as you are type of place for sure! I'll come here again!

A bit different than other restaurants. You walk in, they seat you and when you're ready to order, you go up and place your order on the kiosk and pay. The service was fast. We got seated right away but we went shortly after lunch so it was not too busy. We placed our order and within minutes we got our food. However once you receive your food, they don't really check on you. The food was delicious but too peppery for some in the group. I personally was ok with the pepper. The portion was ok... could be better. Overall it was ok... not a place I'll go to often but worth a try.

Quickly greeted. Directed to order using kiosks. The place is pretty small so it was very noticeable that there was a leak in the ceiling so you had to maneuver the tables and bucket and wet floor sign. Cool concept. Food tasted good. My biggest beef was the price you pay versus the quantity of food you receive. Each vegetable and/or topping that you add adds a other $2+ to the price--so things add up quickly. Food was brought out quickly with the exception of the karaage curry. The karaage was a little overcooked. The curry sauce was good flavor, but lacked depth. The bulgogi was good, just the portion was small for the price. Felt like it was more of a snack than a meal. Food taste and service was great. Prices/strategy/portion size, mehhh. Also I was given a not so clean spoon.

Ate at Pepper Lunch again. Was a little more busy but the staff cleans the tables very quickly. This time I ate the shrimp and beef combo with a diet zero drink. The order arrived quickly considering how busy it was. Its a good idea to swirl the food around so the beef can cook more if you wanted or just eat it raw. Ha. I jumble it all together as pictured. It is very bright and happy during the day with the large windows. Happy looking bathroom as well for all genders. I reviewed on Google review and received the cute Pepper Lunch bag charm as seen below with my cat. There is a large parking lot and even if it always looks packed with cars, there are usually stalls open.

I was excited to see that we have a Pepper Lunch here because my family and I really enjoyed eating at this chain in the Philippines! We came during dinner, so there was a short line, but since it was just the two of us, we were seated pretty quickly. You order at a screen, and they bring the food out to your table. My boyfriend and I both got the beef pepper rice--he went with the jumbo size. We each added an egg, and I also added onions to mine. The beef pepper rice was tasty and reminded me of how I remember it tasting in the Philippines. The portion felt a bit on the smaller side though, especially for the price, which is around $20. Service was fast and the workers checked up on us a few times during our meal. I'd come back again if I'm really craving it! Their other dishes and sides looked pretty as well.

Our first time at Pepper Lunch...easy-to-order kiosk. Study the menu before you get there to be courteous of those in line behind you. We went on a Sunday at 4pm and there was no line. The line started growing during our meal. Service is great and quick, the wait for our food was very short. The food is fresh and piping hot. It is pricey tho. Minus 1 star for 1) the sides are $2+ and the portions are small, 2) They offer 2 sauces which flavor the meal well but I wish they offered more types of sauces like teriyaki, yum yum or sweet and sour and 3) The pepper on the rice can be a bit overwhelming, perhaps offer different degrees of pepper. Other than that, it was a great, healthy meal and we will be back!

Easily a grab and go place tho to experience Pepper Lunch to its fullest one should really eat in. Got the black pepper beef jumbo size and it was satiating! I was so hungry yet it more than satisfying. Since it was my first time, I played with the two sauces left on the table and enjoyed it with a little of both ! Prices reasonable unless you get carried away with the add-ons. Thank you Pepper Lunch and gracious servers. Looking forward to returning.

Pasta and jumbo shrimp- up charge for the "jumbo" shrimp.... I'm not sure if this is more shrimp.... Because the shrimps were not that big.

Came at 5 PM on a Thursday- finally, no Line. You walk in and there are several high tables for 2, and two seater tables 74 seater. We got their premium ribeye, which added mushrooms. Not much flavor though it was soft, not hard to chew. They have two sauces on the table (also salt and pepper). It would be good if we had like a ponzu sauce. I had the shrimp with pasta- in a picture it had mushrooms so I didn't order any mushrooms. However, when the dish came, it was literally just shrimp and pasta. This was the first time that we came so next time we know that it comes There are options to add different sides onto your order. You order from a kiosk with drop-down menus and pick a number on the left and add it to your table. They deliver the food.

Nice lunch spot and very busy with a line, always. Food is fast, hot and pretty good. Comes on a hot plate and still cooking so be careful. Based on ingredients seems to be a fusion of Japanese and Korean. Lots of seating, harder for bigger groups like ours.

I liked how the rice and veggies came out on a hot sizzling plate - hot enough that it cooked the vegetables and tofu. I appreciated the 3 vegetarian options (tofu/veggies, kimchi tofu/veggies and a curry version). It would be nice to have a veggie pasta option. I also liked how you can customize the dish, such as reducing salt. The meal was tasty, tofu a little bland, but they have a garlic sauce on the table to add additional flavors. I wished they included more veggies though for the veggie option. The portion size was okay - no leftovers. You have the option of adding more toppings but the price adds up quickly. It was very busy the day I stopped by but food comes out quickly.

The food and service were good. It was crowded and the line was out the door, but the wait wasn't too long. For a party of 2 we waited about 10mins. It would be nice if there was more space inside the restaurant, I felt like everyone was sitting very close to each other due to limited space. Also some tables were right next to the order line, which people would be standing right next to you while you're eating. Other than the space and feeling cramped, the food was great and would definitely come back again! read more

Went there for dinner at 6pm on a Friday night. Party of 2, little to no wait because we were fine with sitting on the high top. Realizing after the table itself was too small. We made it work. The manager was very friendly and apologetic. No need to apologize! The service was great and the food was even better. Next time I will need a bigger table so I can try more dishes. read more

We got 2 jumbo beef bowl and they were good. They did mess up and added bacon on one. The restaurant was a little dirty with a lot of food scraps left on the tables and floor. The service was the worst of it all. We waited in line for a bit which what fine then was told to go in then ordered but the screen wasn't working well so it took a while. Once we finished there were someone else took our table that we were instructed to go to after ordering and waited inside for 10 minutes then was told to go back outside to wait for another table which took another 15 minutes. We saw our food that we order walk by us multiple times. Once we finally got seated our food came fast and was good but any employee only came up to use 2 time to give us our water and silverware and the other to give us our food. We had to get up and go to the counter to ask for water 2 time because they would just walk past. Overall the food was good but the experience was horrible and you could tell they needed a more experienced staff member to run the place because it was being ran by a bunch of teens. I would rather go to one in the mainland. read more

Even if theres a line, you wouldnt be waiting too long anyways. The service was great, the food was served super fast, and the staff took care of refills in a timely manner. I appreciated the manager and staff coming by checking in on us in case we needed anything. Using the kiosk was very simple and straightforward, but if youre confused using it, the staff is always down to help. Expect to pay on the pricey side for your dishes though, it does add up with all the add-on's, side orders, and drinks. However, the dish size is enough and filling anyways so you'll get your money's worth. Other than that, just be careful if you order for your kids, the dishes are literally served on a hot plate and could burn them if they touch the dish right away. read more

They deserve a 5, me not so much. First time intrigued by the Kim chee so that's what I got. Hot flavorful and great Kim chee taste. My fault, should have gotten something to taste the mixture and the sauces (garlic soy and sweet brown), like my wife. She went with beef pepper rice with egg, cheese, mushroom, and onions. I tried hers with and without both sauces, just ono. Nothing dominated, everything blended. Was it expensive, sure but this is Hawaii, get over it. read more

I came here because I had a good experience at pepper lunch in Japan, HOWEVER.... This ain't it bruh. You are paying 16$ for RICE and tiny little shreds of low quality frozen tasting meat. You can make this way better at home for a fraction of the price, with better meats. Also, my plate was super oily it was like eating slippery oily rice with tiny flakes of meat in it lol honestly couldn't even finish my plate I was starting to feel gross from the all the oil. I can make it way better myself. No shade for the workers they were really friendly and nice but I'm disappointed with the quality of food here. The one star is for the employees, NOT the food. read more

About 20 years ago this restaurant (different name then) was on Kaheka St. I worked in Pearl City…read morethen and someone would drive all the way to town to pick up our food. There was only street parking so someone always accompanied the driver to run and pick up our orders. We all loved it. Must of to drive all the way in town. While I've been to The Lanai many times, I guess I never looked at their menu closely because I didn't realize it was the same place. After the Kaheka restaurant was closed (I heard Kevin and his wife were divorcing) and I never saw it when it was rumored to be in the food court. So I was really happy to find it again. While it initially seemed the same, it's not. The potato isn't rolled like it used to be. Before I could pick it up like a toquito with my chopsticks. Now it's like meat draped over the potatoes, much messier to eat. And there isn't a choice between brown and white rice (only white). But I still love their garlic chips over the meat. Overall, the nostalgic appeal was nice but my overall reaction- meh.

This establishment is a must try when vacationing in Waikiki.

After a five and half hour flight and three-hour time change, we were hungry and ready for lunch when we arrived in Honolulu. Our local friend recommended a relatively new teppanyaki restaurant about five minutes away. We met up at the restaurant, which was located at the Moanalua Shopping Center and had no issues finding a parking space. You order from one of two ordering panels. The panel stopped working during my ordering and the worker helped me complete my order on her monitor. The menu consists of teppans with choices of pepper rice, combos, curry rice and salads, teriyaki and pasta. Our friend said pepper rice was their specialty, so I went with the Pepper Beef - Jumbo with an egg added on. After ordering, we got ourselves seated and within a couple of minutes, the order arrived. The thinly sliced raw beef was sizzling on the iron pan. The rice was topped with corn green onions and black pepper and the sunny side egg was cooking on the pan. After the beef cooked, I mixed the rice and egg together with the beef and it was so tasty. We asked the server about the tasty rice and she said there was pad of butter. Ah butter! It was a quick fast food style meal and it hit the spot after the long flight. Friendly service. This was my first experience at a Pepper Lunch Restaurant,Teppanyaki Style cooking and I have got to say, the menu choices are huge, the food is so delicious, tasty and served up nice and hot on the platters! The staff was friendly and made the experience smooth, especially since we were dining with two kids. The food came out sizzling hot, fresh, and super flavorful.
