Dropped by for a quick lunch because I've always wanted to try this place. I ordered the bibimbap, and my husband got the Spaghetti Pork Cutlet. I have to say, comfort food is always the best. I was pleasantly surprised by the spaghetti--it was way better than I expected and really hit the spot. The bibimbap didn't disappoint either. It's always my go-to rice dish, and this one was fresh and flavorful. The lady who served us was also very nice and attentive. She checked on us a few times and made sure we had everything we needed.
I had no idea what "hot plate teppanyaki" was, but now that I have been introduced to this exceptional Japanese cooking style, I will never be the same! There aren't enough words to describe how utterly fantastic this place is. While the dishes are a bit pricey ($17.89 for my Two Meat Sizzling Curry), it's worth the cost. Each plate comes with a warning label around it, to remind you of how hot it is. On the plate is a fluffy rice patty with a divot you can fill with corn, but I ordered an egg instead. Next is your protein. I chose beef and shrimp. Then you add your veggies, and for me that was onions and carrots. While the rice is cooked, everything else is raw. Once at your table, you do the cooking to your liking! Then you top it all off with their rich and creamy curry. There's a bit of spice to the sauce, but if you're a fan of curry, it's nothing you can't handle. There is seating both inside and out, and seats fill up fast. If you live in the area, you can benefit from the stamp card they offer, which gives great benefits once complete. Service was quick, and our server very helpful. This was my first time here, but I would go back in a heart beat. A great dining experience that felt like an adventure.
Workers are amazing but the food portions is so disappointing!!! Barely any meat or rice. The floors are extremely oily so watch your steps. You can slide across the floor. Won't be coming back !!!!!!! False advertisement!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of the two restaurants that I think are worth the parking situation at diamond jamboree because of how good it is. Although it is a simple dish, the preparation and speed of the service make it worth coming back. With that said, it is quite pricey for a simple dish, but I think it coming out on a stone plate speaks for itself. There usually isn't really a wait here as it's an order first table side service. there's always room and it's clean inside.
steak with curry sauce, and I was seriously impressed. The patty came out hot, juicy, and full of flavor. The curry sauce was rich and delicious, with a nice little kick that stayed with you after every bite. So satisfying. This is definitely a new favorite on my list of sizzling curry dishes. If you're a curry fan, I highly recommend giving it a try. The service was okay, it's more of a grab-and-go type of place, but the staff were friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a quick lunch that's packed with flavor, this spot won't disappoint.
One of my favorite spots for lunch out in the Diamond Jamboree. By far my favorite is the Sizzling Curry! Such good flavor and a great portion. I love the option to eat inside or outside to pick an ambiance and the staff offered great suggestions! If you get a side, the sweet potato wedges dipped in the curry are next level!
Pepper Lunch is always such a yummy and filling meal! I love how big the portion is and how many toppings there are that you can choose from. I love to add corn because it adds that extra crunch to the plate. Everything is always quick and fresh, as when they bring the plate out to you it's still sizzling. I also love the garlic soy sauce they have at the table. Only thing is that the Diamond Jamboree plaza can be crazy in terms of parking but imo it's worth it for this spot!
It was my first time trying Pepper Lunch, and highly recommend trying it out! We waited about 30 minutes to get seated, but it's totally worth the wait. Highly recommend trying their most popular pepper beef meal or one of their curries. I love that the food is on a sizzling plate, and the serving portions are huge. I can't wait to go back!
The food was amazing, the pepper rice definitely met my expectations. I loved the style of food they offered and the meat was perfectly tender. I ordered the new Brisket Pepper Rice which I would definitely order again. The food was really oily and a touch too salty especially if you added their sauces. I personally thought the entrees were better without sauce. The presentation was also underwhelming because I pictured meat piled on and surrounding the rice. In reality, there is only a few pieces of meat scattered around the rice. It's not to say they did not portion correctly; after mixing, there was a perfect combination of rice and meat. Just a warning that the food does not look like the menu pictures is all. Service was amazing. Tip your servers! Though kiosks are used to pay, workers brought out the food, checked in frequently, and cleaned all the tables in a timely manner. All in all, great experience, 9/10!
Tried this place out for the first time at the location in Diamond Jamboree and got the Classic Beef Pepper Rice. For $15, I'd say it's definitely worth stopping by for a quick lunch.
Have heard lots about Pepper Lunch and was looking forward to trying when I was in Irvine but it was underwhelming, especially for the price. Both the steak my husband got and my combo with beef and salmon were underseasoned, lacked any flavor besides butter, and was overall very bland. We did see a cart of some sauces that we could add ourselves about halfway into the meal but it was still nothing memorable. We ordered a side of fries which were very crispy that were great. Tables were also really sticky and the sauce bottles on the table were dirty. Located in Diamond Jamboree so parking is always hard to find. For the price, portion, and flavor, we probably would not come back.
I had Pepper Lunch for the first time and can't believe I was missing out on it this whole time! Pepper Lunch is a good restaurant, with ample seating located in Diamond Jamboree. I came on a Friday night, so if you know this area - parking was a mad house! The food was delicious; I ordered the Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice and boy was it good. It came out sizzling on a hot plate and the taste was amazing! The experience reminded me of Benihana just with my own plate lol. The food plate is basic (meat, corn, rice), but you have the options to spice it up more with add-ons like egg, cheese, kimchi, etc. Yes, the ingredients are basic but the flavor is still yummy! I especially liked when I let the rice crispen a little on the plate! The tables are also set with a sweet brown sauce and a garlic soy sauce, just in case you want extra flava. Service was relatively quick after ordering and the servers are nice! The restaurant is self-seating with self-serve drinks so you can stay and leave as you please. I will say they also have some tasty tea's that I enjoyed! I will definitely will be coming back.
Pepper Lunch is not about fancy decor--it is all about hot, fresh, flavorful food with fast service. The real star is the signature sizzling hot plate, arriving at your table steaming and crackling with an aroma so strong it could turn heads from miles away. I ordered the sizzling curry with shrimp, and it was such a fun experience because the shrimp arrived raw and cooked right on the hot plate. The rich curry gravy was the perfect finishing touch, especially poured over the rice for every savory bite. We often come here when we drive up from San Diego to visit our uncle.
Came back and half to say the quality has remained the same! Sometimes I do wish the dishes had more of a kick, some spice but overall it tasted very good. The portion is fair - do check the tables/inside for sauces as some are available but it's not particularly mentioned . read more

I wanted to love it...I love filipino cuisine...and I know this place us big in the Phillipines...but I gotta say...eh. No problems with the service, same as any chipotle-style restaurant. Same with ambience...it was clean and fine for what it was. Only issue was the food. It wasn't bad...it was just so mediocre I almost would've preferred it to be bad...because at least I would've felt something. It's called pepper lunch, and I sneaze all the time...I didn't sneeze once!! And there was far more corn than protein. Corn is a filler, and we already have rice...idk...why all the damn corn!? Came back here while I was visiting Irvine again. My friend and I wanted to try something new and the worker, Jonathan, helped recommend some of his favorites! My friend and I shared a Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice with egg and cheese. It was my first time getting a jumbo and the portion was more than enough for both my friend and I. Sizzling platters is what you get here. Imagine a traditional bibimbap on a hot stone bowl but American/japanese food. That's what it basically is. I had no clue what this place was but my bestie kept talking about it. Definitely not what I was expecting. Haha. The way she described it I totally thought it was like something like sukiyaki. Yeah, I don't know what I was listening to. Menu is pretty basic once you figure out what avenue you'll be taking. Rice, curry or pasta. Then, select your protein and any add ons. We both got the salmon with extra meat. Food comes out pretty quickly and yes, it's sizzling. Nothing complex, as it's just rice, fish, canned corn, slab of butter, lots of black pepper and added fried garlic. On the table, there are a couple of sauces you can add on. One is a little sweeter but the shoyu based one is a nice accompaniment to the fish. Make sure to mix well, so all the flavors are in each bite. My meal was at my perfect temperature.... HOT!!! We went at an off time so parking was easy and there was no line. Service was quick and delicious!!! I will always LOVE pepper lunch w all my heart Usually my go-to is the beef pepper rice, but recently I have been ordering the beef pepper udon (not pictured here but if they have on the menu still you HAVE to order). Noodles are juicy, bouncy, and flavorful. All the ingredients mixed together is *chefs kiss*, it just melts into your mouth. My boyfriend ordered the jumbo beef pepper rice & I ordered the beef pepper udon. The service here is super fast. One con I'd say is the salty and sweet sauce at your table isn't as accessible anymore so you have to go to the front to get it. If you come on a weekend, good luck finding parking. We parked super far. Regardless, the food came out amazing and I'd definitely come back again if I am craving PL in the Irvine area! read more

My SO and I came here for lunch on a Sunday, and there was about a 15 minute wait before we were seated. It was our first time though, so that gave us plenty of time to check out the menu and figure out what we wanted before we reached the order counter. I ordered the kimchi beef pepper rice with cheese; my SO got the beef pepper rice. They both came out in a sizzling hot plate, which was so fun to look at while the dish continued to cook. I let my kimchi beef pepper rice cook for another 5 minutes and then mixed it all up. It was basically a super flavorful kimchi fried rice! I thought it was already well-seasoned as is but did add a little bit of garlic soy sauce to mine, which was amazing! Each plate was more than enough food for us. We checked in on Yelp and got a free side of fries too (if you order two entrees)! read more
I've always been curious about this spot for a long time as I come to Diamond Jamboree a lot. It always smells so good every time I pass by! Tonight I finally decided to give this place a shot. I loved the ambiance inside and the staff is super friendly. We got their popular dishes Beef Pepper Rice and Hamburg & Beef Sizzling Curry. The dish is really just rice with pepper/curry and meat. I like rice and I think the meat was tasty but I wasn't overly impressed. Great meal and I would have it again but it's tough because there's so many good options in the same plaza, which is the reason it took me so long to try this restaurant. The parking at this plaza is always a mad house during lunch and dinner. So be prepared of taking time to find a parking. The ordering line was long but it ran quick. They only had one cashier to help with ordering. If you have a very young kid, you might be able to order just for adults, but if your kid is not like baby or toddler age, they will still force you to order a full size even the kid won't be able to finish. My plan was ordering a larger size with some sides, but of course they didn't let me....so I end up ordered two regular full size that my kid just took more than half home. Anyway, portion and taste was ok, but the greatest or worst for the price (about 14 dollars after tax per each) wishing they can give us a little bits more sliced beef. read more
I heard so many good things about Pepper Lunch so I was very excited to try it but it's overall just okay. There are so many good options in this plaza that I'd rather go elsewhere if I already found a parking spot (hahaha iykyk) POSITIVES 1. Yelp check in bennies! Get a free side when you order a meal! 2. The add ins can totally change the flavor and are super fun BUT can get pricey - I tried the original beef pepper lunch with garlic chips and cheese and that topping really changed the dish from being bland to having a garlic bomb (which I liked) 3. Out of the sides, I liked the sweet potato fries the best but they are those thick wedges so if you're not into wedges I would just stick to the regular fries or onion rings. NEUTRALS 1. Like I mentioned, the food is so mid AND it's drowning in butter/oil which I really disliked but it's palatable and if I was starving.... Well actually if I was starving I'd rather go get boba at sunright in the same plaza or get a pastry from 85 because it would be quicker and tastier (especially if the fat and carb content is going to be that high) NEGATIVES 1. I absolutely HATE trying to find parking in diamond jamboree BUT if you can come at an off hour, it's not so bad. Overall, not worth the macros or the search to find a parking spot. Decided to give this place a try after passing by it numerous times as we ate across at the Kicking Crab. We ordered: - classic Pepper beef rice : this was the better of the 2 dishes. It comes in a hot plate as the beef continues cooking in front of you. Got an add on egg and you can decide to mix the barely cook egg with your rice and beef or flip it over to continue cooking it. Overall it does seem to need a little more sauce to it and they provide a spicy garlic and sweet and sour which were ok. Overall give it a 3.5 star. - The combo deluxe with the chicken and salmon. The salmon was good , the chicken was ok. The rice is serve on the side. There is onion rings , corn and bean sprouts on the plate and it does not seem to mix well for overall taste. Give this a 3 star. Service was good, food was average. Maybe we need to try something else but was told the classic beef was the most popular item. read more

Went here after a day at Disneyland and it was a good try. I got the beef pepper rice, but I just wish the meat to rice ratio was better. I understand that there's a jumbo beef option where you pay more for more meat, but with how much rice there is, I'd say please add a bit more, haha. Other than that, service was great, friendly and attentive. Shout out to Justin for always checking on us! The inside is quite small, but there is outdoor seating. Parking was a nightmare though since it was a Saturday night in diamond jamboree, and you know how busy it can get especially with only a couple entrances into the actual plaza. Very popular Japanese peppercorn meals, cooked at your table on a sizzling hot skillet! I highly recommend their Jumbo beef peppercorn with rice. Be sure to add mushrooms, garlic chips, and onions. I've had my eye on Pepper Lunch for such a long time and I was excited to finally get around to trying it. There was a line to order, but it moved fairly quickly. It's an interesting concept serving meat on a sizzling plate and it was fun to look at. We were all pretty satisfied with our dishes, although I will say that the portions were a little smaller than I was expecting. Since it was a bit crowded we had to sit outside, but it was fortunately a nice day out although a bit windy. Overall, pretty solid place to stop by for lunch. It's located in a mall with lots of other restaurants and stores so you'll definitely find a place to park, but you just have to be patient. read more

We tried this on our trip to California. My hubby tried this in the Philippines and so excited to see they have it here. Well, he!s not wrong. I thought i wasnt hungry enough to eat it but devoured all the food in my plate. They serve it in a very hot sizzling plate and you just mix to cook it.you could taste the right flavor and sauce is not needed since it is perfectly seasoned. Service was fast but probably because we are early for lunch. By the time we're done, there is a line outside especially it is a small place. Depending on time of day, it is sometimes hard to find parking at this strip because there are lots of asian resto in this place. This is something i would eat again when i visit read more

My coworker introduced us to Pepper Lunch and now we're all addicted. I had the curry beef and it was so delicious!! The curry sauce was flavorful and it pairs so well with the beef. Mix it up with some rice - bomb!! The second time I came here I added mushrooms and it went so well with everything! Make sure you check in on yelp to get a free side! We tried the onion rings and the french fries. Both were really good!! It does get busy but the food usually comes out pretty quick! Order at the counter and then they give you a number and bring the food out to you. They also have patio seating which is nice when you want to get some fresh air. read more

I tried the beef pepper lunch and the beef & chicken pepper lunch, and overall, it was a solid experience. We were told there'd be a 20-25 minute wait for a seat but only waited 6 minutes--bonus points for that! You order and pay upfront, which I actually like. The food came out super fast (like 6 minutes after we sat down), though they did mix up our order initially. They quickly fixed it, so no big deal. The meat and chicken were tender and flavorful, and cooking it on the sizzling skillet was fun. It's perfect for a post-work meal since it's piping hot and ready to eat. My only con is that there was a bit too much butter/oil, which made it a little greasy. The corn with the rice was a nice touch, though I'd say the rice felt more like fried rice. Overall, decent meal under $60 (including drinks), and great service. I'd definitely come back! read more
Pepper lunch is definitely a must try! I love the food cooking in a hot skillet. The rice is nice and toasted and pairs well with the meat and veggies. We ordered a dew differwnt things Teriyaki Beef, kimchi beef with cheese pepper rice, teriyaki chicken and onion rings. They were all good! Pepper lunch never disappoints. On a cold or hot day ngl. Nothing is more comforting than fried rice lolol. Everything came out very fast and the staff is very careful with the hot plate! The food was great and the meat cooked perfectly on the stone which i was a little worried about incase it got burnt. If you leave the rice on the edge you can get bits of crispy pieces! Eggs and others are add ons but just by itself is already very filling. They always have stamp cards that you can collect for free add ons or a meal! :) read more
My friend and I dropped by to see whether this location lived up to the Pepper Lunch in Singapore and we were not disappointed! This place gives a fun dining experience and extensive add-on menu options. It's like a less stressful Korean BBQ... No need to be anxious about pulling your food off the grill before it burns here! I got the Hamburg Beef with Curry with egg and tofu. Totally filling and delicious. Service was very attentive and food came out quickly. We'll definitely be back! read more

We visited this location right when it first opened and ordered the beef plate and karaage chicken. We usually go to the other Irvine location, and compared to that, the portions here were noticeably smaller. Unfortunately, the karaage chicken was very dry. Also, for a newly opened restaurant, the interior was surprisingly dirty, which was quite disappointing. read more

Yes, there is outdoor seating. During the weekends sometimes these tables could be taken up by big parties.

Yes indoor dining is available as well as outdoor. About a week ago it seemed liked 50 percent capacity indoor.

Phones ARE working. Got my phone call order for lunch today. :D
How will a pepper rice plate be packaged and prepared for a to go order?
It will be cooked by the servers in the front on the counter. Then you will get the food along with both the garlic and sweet sauce and plastic utensils in a bag.
