Great Shabu joint in the heart of Irvine ! We were seated and served relatively quickly at this establishment. There are many tables to seat generally parties of 4. I thought that their menu was pretty clear and easy to understand. They offer a wide variety of shabu a la carte but also have AYCE options available too! My party decided to go for the AYCE option and it definitely did not disappoint. We got the bronze option and loaded up on the wagyu toro / beef belly, prime angus top blade, and M9 wagyu chuck eye roll. The meats were all good in quality and came out in small portion sizes (perfect for sharing). For the broth, I got the sukiyaki broth and it was definitely flavorful. The only thing of note about this place is that the veggie bar / sauce bar is really small (compared to All That Shabu nearby). Overall, I would recommend this place to those in the area looking for solid shabu!

food: honestly i haven't been here in a year n i feel like yes it's good, but it used to be better. i was craving hotpot and decided to give it a try because i've been seeing so many posts, but maybe because it's gotten so busy and there's so much hype, the quality kind of went down. don't get me wrong it was still really good! service: the servers were so quick with everything and super sweet! ambiance: a typical hotpot restaurant! they have tables for groups and bar seating if you prefer!

My friend and I came on a Friday night and there was little to no wait. There's plenty of spacious tables and even bar seating. They have a sauce bar to create your own sauce and more veggies for u to pick up. We got a regular toro and it was the perfect portion. The toro itself was a little too peppery for my liking but it was overall good. The servers were helpful when we were ordering. Miyabi does ayce as well as à la carte. I would come back again.

It's been a while since I've been to miyabi but recently went back after seeing all their ig & TikTok posts about the lunch special. It did not disappoint! For $18.95, you get 6oz of meat (3 options to choose from), green tea (3 options to choose from), noodles (ramen or udon), rice (brown or white), access to the sauce bar, and unlimited veggies! The broth included is their original / kombu broth which is very light, if you do want one with a stronger or different flavor, you do have to upgrade and pay an additional $3. I did not because I wanted to try the true lunch special. The broth was a little lighter in flavor for my preference but after letting the meat and veggies sit, and adding some items from the sauce bar, it worked for me! Huge fan of miyabis crispy garlic topping and their goma sauce. Because of the rice, noodles and unlimited veggies, I was able to get full off of 6 oz of meat even though I can usually eat way more than that. I wish there was at least one more broth option included. Overall, still such a great lunch deal and I will be back! Definitely worth the hype you're seeing on Instagram and TikTok :)

Came for their lunch special at 11:30am and was disappointed that they locked the doors and didn't actually open until 11:55am. There were two other parties along with us that were waiting as well. Definitely do not come here on a weekday lunch. We opted for their lunch special regular size beef belly and angus beef sets with peach green teas. The food was good as always, but service was really lacking. The meats took a while to come out and the vegetable bar wasn't stocked upon entry. If you wanted to get a quick lunch in this is not the spot. I enjoy the food here but this experience was not it.

It was my first time visiting a restaurant that features both shabu-shabu and a BBQ grill. How amazing is it that you can have both at the same time?! Luckily, there was a highly-rated spot right near my house, so we checked it out. Since it was a late lunch, we were the only customers there. On weekdays, this would usually be their break time, but it seems they operate without a break on weekends. It's an AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) place where the available meat options depend on the tier you choose. Since it was our first time, we had to take a little gamble, right? So we went with the lowest tier, and honestly, I think it was more than enough.Benjamin and Brittney, who took care of our table, were incredibly kind and walked us through everything step-by-step so we wouldn't feel out of place. Although the types of meat for the shabu-shabu and BBQ are the same, they are sliced differently, so you have to order them separately. We ordered the same type of meat for each style, and we were really satisfied with the portion sizes and freshness. The tonkotsu broth for the shabu-shabu was also delicious. We started with the grilled meat first and then moved on to the shabu-shabu. Overall, it was a satisfying meal with excellent service! If I had to pick one downside, it's that there were no side dishes! haha I know, Japanese places don't usually serve side dishes. But it was our first time having Japanese style, so we totally overlooked that fact. After eating for a bit, I seriously craved some kimchi... haha. Both the food and service deserve five stars, but as for a return visit, I'm not so sure... I might have to think about it. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours. It's not the restaurant's fault; the plaza itself just has a pretty limited parking lot. Huge thanks again to Benjamin and Brittney, who helped us with such bright smiles throughout our meal!

Miyabi Shabu and Grill is located in the Irvine Village Center at the corner of Jeffrey Road and Irvine Center Drive. The restaurant specializes in Japanese hot pot (shabu-shabu) and grill items. Our first visit was during their soft opening way back in 2013. Good for them that they have withstood the test of time, but we haven't come back sooner because of the long wait times to be served after being seated. On this, our second visit, it appears there has been no improvement in wait times to order and reorder AYCE due to shortage of staff. PROS: - Offers both a la carte and all-you-can-eat options - AYCE pricing is very reasonable for all that's included. Silver tier is where it's at! - During our recent visit, our server Alyssa was working the entire restaurant solo because they were shorthanded again. I wanted to commend her for her patience in answering questions and taking the time out to do a cost analysis of à la carte vs AYCE for our party, all while doing her best to provide top notch service for every restaurant patron. She is a valuable asset, so give that woman a raise! CONS: - I love Shabu but I've enjoyed much higher quality meats and Wagyu at other establishments. I'd def recommend their grill over their Shabu. - Their sashimi was disappointing...cuts of salmon were way too thick. They have a good selection of appetizers, so I'd go with another option. - Two visits and shortage of staff both times. Just my opinion, but isn't it better to be overstaffed than understaffed? It's good to see Miyabi has loyal customers. IMO there are better Shabu and grill options elsewhere so I won't be coming back, but I wish them continued success!

It's unfortunate to rate this place so low. Because honestly, the food is pretty damn good. We came close to opening on a Friday afternoon for their AYCE lunch special. We were sat in the back room with a group of 5, and this is where it all went down hill. First there was a weird smell when entering. Can't put my nose on what it was, some of us liken it to gas, but it was semi off putting. 3rd set of lights were off, but someone did turn them on when another group sat behind us towards the end of our meal. This showed how dirty and beat up this place is. No one's fault but the owner. They were short staffed. I WANT to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it was incredibly disheartening for things to unravel as they did. I do want to preface this with that all the servers were extremely polite. No issues with attitude.... BUT we were ALSO polite. Almost too passive for our own good. NOW, I can understand if you're short staffed and ALL patrons had to wait, but 2 groups in front of us received their broth, veggies, rice, and meat before us. Not just a little bit before, A LOT before us. We waited approximately 30 minutes, sitting, before our broth came out. 35 minutes total before sauces/rice came out (after asking) and about 40 minutes total before meat came out. The 2 groups outside we saw were on their 2nd round of meat already. That's completely unacceptable. Veggie/sauce station was empty of so many ingredients. There was no more bok choy or cabbage after our first go around, and there were no more green onions or radish for our ponzu and goma. Overall $25.99 for AYCE Beef and Pork Belly Shabu is a steal. AND if they can get their *stuff* together, this place would would be top notch. Unfortunately, just not worth it until they do. But if my experience has taught me anything; places that aren't AYCE that become AYCE...are on their last leg.

This place is always good. They have amazing Goma sauce and a great lunch special mid week. $22 for 8oz of meat and unlimited veggies at the veggie bar. The service is always great with the employee being very tentative. It's always a great meal here. I want try the AYCE menu soon.

Miyabi is basically a local institution in Irvine beloved by regulars with a constantly evolving menu, and now they're offering all-you-can-eat shabu AND BBQ. There's 4 different tiers starting at $38.99 but we had to go big with the diamond tier that includes all the A5 cuts, like A5 wagyu ribeye, A5 short rib, even A5 wagyu nigiri and toro handrolls. But what's really cool is that they can slice the same meats thin for shabu and thicker cuts for BBQ...I was in wagyu heaven. There's a self-serve sauce bar where you can mix your own sauces and grab unlimited veggies from, and unlimited sides you can order--I highly recommend the wagyu fried rice, galbi jjim, and the super jiggly egg custard...and do NOT sleep on house crispy garlic topping they put on the rice! Thanks for reading! ^-^

A friend invited me out for lunch, and after a bit of back-and-forth, we decided on Miyabi since it's nearby. I've known about this place for years, and I'm glad I finally went last Friday! We both ordered from the lunch special menu -- I chose the 6oz top blade with the original broth. The sauce bar was simple but well-stocked, and the restaurant was pretty busy for a Friday afternoon. The food was delicious, but what stood out the most to me was the iced peach green tea -- so refreshing that I finished it in no time! I was tempted to get a refill but decided not to since it came with an extra charge. Their ponzu sauce was also excellent; I'm not sure if it's made in-house or store-bought, but it definitely tasted better than the one I have at home. Note to self: next time, skip breakfast and go for the 8oz portion instead of 6oz. The veggies at the sauce bar are free-flow, so I'll be sure to come back with a better game plan next time!

Went to try Miyabi Shabu and Grill for the first time on a Thursday night. There is bar seating and regular table seating. We were seated pretty quickly as we opted to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Our server took our order quickly. We ordered the toro/beef belly share platter, and got to choose our own broths. I got the spicy miso tonkatsu broth and my boyfriend got the spicy tonkatsu broth. Our meal came with complimentary veggies, rice with garlic crunch topping, and sauces. Everything except for the toro came out pretty fast. They slice their meats fresh to order, so that explains why our toro took longer. But we did notice that the toro intended for us sat out on the counter for a few minutes before they brought it to our table. The food was really good and I especially liked the garlic crunch topping on the rice. I also enjoyed the variety of vegetables and we got to choose if we wanted ramen or udon noodles. Things were good until the end. After we finished our meal, we had to wait 10 minutes for one of the servers to give us our check. It seemed like the three servers there didn't have their own sections, but instead were just working all over the place. They passed by us multiple times, but we were not checked on so we couldn't get our bill until we flagged someone down. We tried to flag down the servers multiple times too and they would walk past us so quickly that they wouldn't hear us. After we got our bill, we put our card down and had to wait another 10 minutes for one of the servers to process our payment. This was an unfortunate experience since we really enjoyed the food, but the service could use some work.

I had one of the best meals ever at this shabu shabu and BBQ spot. I only tried their new Bronze menu and I was shocked at how satisfying it was. The selection of meats and veggies was huge and everything tasted fresh and high quality. I loved being able to switch between shabu and BBQ because both were so good. Their new Cloud Matcha drinks are a must try. Sweet, creamy, and super refreshing. It was the perfect pairing with the meal. The place was clean and the staff was attentive! It's all you can eat with AYCE sides and dessert too so you definitely leave full and happy. Honestly one of the best shabu and BBQ experiences I've had and I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend.

Ask the Community - Miyabi Shabu And Grill

How much lunch AYCE cost per person?

    December lunch special AYCE $25.95

Lunch all you can eat price?

I was there last month (Nov 2025) and did not see AYCE being offered

Do they offer free veggie refills?

    Yes

Is the AYCE Shabu option only offered during dinner?

Hi there! We offer AYCE Shabu for both lunch and dinner 😊 Please refer to our menu for pricing, as it varies between lunch and dinner hours.

    Do you take reservations?

Hi Sorina! We take reservations for parties of 3 or more and at least 2 hours in advance. Just give us a call and we can put a reservation down for you!

Are any of the meats halal? The New Zealand lamb and any of the beefs?

    Yes

Can you have both shabu and grill? Or can you only choose one?

Yes, you can have both shabu and grill! Our new All You Can Eat Menu also allows you to get unlimited amounts of both shabu and grill meats (90 minute time limit). You can order both a la carte options as well.

Looking to host a monthly business lunch here. What is the largest group size you can accommodate at one table?

The party room in the back seats a total of 16 (two tables of 8), however they are able to add chairs so maybe for a max of 20 but it will be squished.

What is on the happy hour menu?

They have cheaper select appetizers and alcohol on Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. $4 salted edamame…

Do they still have happy hour?

    Yes 5-7 mon-thurs

Can they seat 8 people at one table?

Does each person get their own cooking pot or is one or a few shared around the table?

Yes each person gets their own pot. I like that a lot.

Do you still have a varieties of different skewer?

Are skewers no longer on the menu?

Do they have lunch special on weekend?

Not really. Like most places they just charge full price on weekends because it's peak hours. I think they may have some sort of drink special but I can't say for sure since I don't really drink and never listen XD

Does anyone know if they have any vegan soup bases?

Yes, they have many soup bases that would be considered vegan.

Is this standard mall parking? How hard would it be to get a parking spot on a Saturday around 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m.? The Google map shows a full parking lot.

Parking is at a premium at those hours. You may have to park on the street BEHIND the strip mall (behind Dunkin' Donuts).

The ambiance is intimate by design: the bar seats only 20-30 people, wrapped tightly around the sushi counter. It's not the spot for a date night or a family outing, but for a quick lunch with one or two people, it's ideal. Service is speedy and consistently kind, which matters given the counter's close quarters -- everything moves efficiently without ever feeling rushed. Drinks are what you'd expect from a sushi bar: a solid rotation of Japanese beers and sake. Nothing adventurous, but a good, reliable selection. The food is where Rol shines. My wife and I always order a variety of rolls -- this visit, she loved the blue crab and scallop, while I couldn't get enough of the spicy tuna. The wasabi sauce and truffle soy sauce elevated everything, and are reason enough to keep coming back on their own. I've also had the truffle nori roll twice now, and while it's genuinely very good, I don't think it justifies the extra cost over the standard rolls -- the regular menu is strong enough that the upcharge doesn't feel necessary. But I didn't. If a restaurant is closed on certain days, their reservation system shouldn't allow bookings or send confirmations for those days. We never even made it inside, so I can't comment on the food--but this was a frustrating first impression and something they really need to fix.

Came here for a late lunch with the family…read more This is what we ordered: 1. Hot udon w/ sansai topping and Oyako don (chicken & egg w/rice) 2. Cold udon w/ sansai topping and albacore roll 3. Hot udon w/ sansai topping and California roll 4. Cold udon with tanuki topping and Oyako don What a deal! Enough food for 2 meals. Food was flavorful, balanced, and delicious. Next time I'll have to try the nasumiso - grilled eggplant with miso flavor. Note: Limited indoor seating. There are a few outdoor patio tables with umbrellas.

Disappointing return to Fukada…read more We used to come all the time for their lunch combos and nabeyaki udon. Even during the pandemic, we ordered take-outs regularly. It's been a few years since our last visit because we moved away, and we were looking forward to today's visit...total let down. No more restaurant dining. All take outs only and in disposable bowls/containers. You can sit inside or outside. I understand during the pandemic why this was necessary but should be fine to return to normal operation at this point. So much garbage created with all the one-time-use stuff. Most people opt to dine in so makes no sense to have so much trash. And the indoor table was sticky. I know this is now a take out only place so diners have to clear their own plates... but we were the first group sitting down at our table when the restaurant opened...shouldn't the tables be cleaned initially before starting the day's operation? The biggest letdown...food. For a place that used to pride itself in freshly made udon and soba, these two dishes were terribly average. They might have used diluted soba tsuyu for the dipping sauce...it is not the full flavored version but tasted rather watered down in order the fill the larger takeout cup. The soup for nabeyaki also tasted bland, not as flavorful as their old broth. I think I could make a better broth using udon powder packets from grocery store. The rice dishes like katsu-don and prime beef steak were ok. Now the beloved Fukada feels like a generic food court stall. Of course it's still popular but the food is not the same.

Mama (Mayumi) has poured so much of herself into this restaurant, from the artwork on the walls to the warm hospitality that makes it feel like you're being welcomed into someone's home. (Oishii Desu "It's Delicious") If it's your first visit, don't skip the Okinawan specialties. The mountain yam dishes, rafute (braised pork belly), Okinawan soba, and an ice-cold Orion beer served in a frosted glass are all part of what makes Habuya so memorable. It's a place to slow down, share plates, and enjoy the experience. I'm genuinely happy to see Habuya getting so much attention on social media because it's well deserved. My only hope is that as more people discover it, they also help preserve what makes it special. This is a small, family-run restaurant, so please be patient during check-in, be kind to the staff, and remember that many guests have been waiting for the opportunity to enjoy the experience as well. Come to appreciate the food, drinks, and Okinawan culture--not just to snap a few photos and leave. One thing to keep in mind is that if you don't drink alcohol or follow a vegan diet, the menu may feel a bit more limited. But if you're open to experiencing authentic Okinawan cuisine, Habuya is truly one of Orange County's hidden gems.
