Fabulous local diner in downtown Lake Zurich. They only serve breakfast and lunch and close at 3 pm. Smaller diner and it's always busy but have never waited for a table. Seems like a few locals hang out here. It looks like of the original restaurants in downtown Lake Zurich. The waitresses are amazing, fast and efficient. The food is outstanding! Everything is homemade. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy and though that's not my favorite breakfast meal it was superb! The biscuits were tender and fluffy. The gravy was smooth and creamy yet not too heavy. You have to get one of their cinnamon rolls. Again they are homemade and delicious! You have an option of glazed or cream frosted. Our favorite was the cream cheese frosting. Definitely a thick coating of frosting on a delicious, homemade cinnamon roll. They do serve them warm if you choose to eat here. Sometimes I just want some classic brunch food in a cozy diner! This one fits the bill. They were a little short staffed when I went on a Saturday morning, but I am not opposed to waiting a little for coffee while enjoying brunch vibes. I enjoyed the quiche, which comes with fruit and lemon cake. The lemon cake was on the sweeter side for my taste, but the quiche was delicious and the fruit was surprisingly fresh! Problem one is food is just not very good skillets not even on menu and they will not make them. Corned beef omelette was made with very low quality corned beef . Ive been there twice now. 1st time, 5 stars. 2nd time I ordered, biscuits and gravy. Very disappointed. The gravy was near watery and didn't have a single pork breakfast sausage crumble in the gravy. We got the Ciabatta sandwich and the scramble (with the eggs on top + an extra egg). The ciabatta sandwich was not great, I personally didn't like how they cooked the spinach. I'll start by saying that the service here was amazing. The waitress was extremely friendly and did a great job. The atmosphere is really cool. Small place but holds a good amount of people comfortably. The food was also pretty solid. My wife got the breakfast BLT and enjoyed it. Only downside was there wasn't a lot of bacon on the sandwich. Usually on a BLT the bacon is the show. However, the waitress got my wife some more bacon and was extremely nice about it. My meal (forgot the name) was pretty good. The hash browns were very good and had great flavor. I will also say the coffee was pretty good as well. All in a good experience and I would recommend this place to anyone that is in the area. The last time we visited, we were sorely disappointed. This place must have been hit especially hard by the "supply chain issues" during the pandemic, because the quality of their food had significantly decreased. The pancakes were rubbery and tasted more like chemicals than real food, the eggs were runny, and the coffee was just plain horrible. Besides that, they refused to accommodate my mother's red meat intolerance. (Anytime she eats bacon or beef, it creates serious digestive problems for her.) Instead, they tried to pass off regular bacon as turkey bacon (the smell gave it away), then got angry when we called them out on it. Serving low-quality food and being rude to their patrons is bad enough, but disregarding customers' food sensitivities? That's unacceptable. What would they do if someone came in who had a peanut allergy, or Celiac disease, or IBS? Just shrug their shoulders and say, "Whatever, it's not our problem"? You know their breakfast was good to very good. The portion size at this time in my life was big enough that I took home around a third of my meat lovers omelette. Very friendly servers and the coffee cup was always full. It's a nice little diner in the middle of town and would probably be my pick for breakfast if I lived there but I don't. The thing that keeps me from giving four stars is they charged me fifty cents to put onions in my hash browns. Like I said in the pic I just think that's chicken sh*t. This little coffee shop has been a staple in downtown Lake Zurich for as along as I can remember, but I only just started eating here a couple years ago. It is your classic "old time" diner that serves yummy breakfast and lunch, and whatever time you go, you are likely to see a familiar face whether it be there long time staff or regular customers. It is a bit on the smaller side so if you go for breakfast on a weekend, there may be a bit of a wait. They have a nice menu with all the classics you would expect and while I always enjoy my food, I wouldn't stay it is the best breakfast I've ever had. Would've given more stars, but my partner ordered the country fried steak and was served breaded pork in an oddly sweet country gravy. Nowhere in the menu description did it state that the "steak" was actually pork. For those it will matter to. Oct2021 Illinois currently has a mask mandate in place, upon walking in you can see that the servers and some kitchen staff are not masked. (Busboys and the student in their work program along with the chaperone are masked) Pre-pandemic this was a frequent visit. Not that the food is great (it's not bad either. Just a place for breakfast and lunch staples) prices are decent and it's definitely an old school feel. Service is quick and it's a place for the seniors of the area to go and share their political beliefs at a volume for everyone to hear. You can tell who the regulars are. Not bashing the place.
