In Rochester, NY this week for work and stopped here for breakfast based on the Yelp reviews. I had the skillet breakfast, add jalapenos. It was was very good. My only suggestion would be to use real jalapenos rather than pickled jalapenos but other than that it was good. This is an old school, family-owned Diner and the employees were friendly. I've only been in Rochester for less than 24 hours but so far everything's been crazy nice. In any event, I found the staff here very friendly. Went to Peppermints for breakfast on a Friday morning. There wasn't many people there so we were sat right away and had water and coffee quickly. They have free coffee Monday-Friday in the mornings which is pretty awesome. For food I ordered the breakfast burrito which has eggs cheese peppers onions and hash browns, I added meat for only $1. I really enjoyed it, especially with the hash browns in it, you don't see that too often. The girlfriend had the ham and cheese omelet and she liked it. I also had a side of rye toast, and $2.30 is kind of a lot for toast,it was amazing. The bread seemed high quality, and was thick cut and super buttery. This was my first time there even though I grew up near by. I will definitely go back when I'm in town. read more

We ended up coming back here less than a month after our first visit, based on the fact that we thought it would be an easy place to bring our two-year-old son for a family meal. The experience is making me bump this place up a star, because of the ease of bringing kids. Let me tell you: coming here was a great choice! The staff was SO friendly and helpful with our son. We ordered a milkshake, which kept our little guy busy for a LONG time. They also have a "bandit plate" available for kids - pay $0, get a plate and utensils, and steal your parents' food. Awesome. We did end up ordering a hot dog and applesauce (swapped this option with the normal french fries) for our son, and the waiter brought the applesauce out a little early, which was extremely helpful. This time, I also tried the chicken gyro, and I have to say that I like the Greek portion of the menu much better than the rest. No grease!!! I also ordered the sweet potato fries and thought they were good, although some were a little undercooked. The fish fry is also very popular at this time, due to Fridays + Lent, and my husband said it was pretty good, although not the best he's had. read more

This is a pretty standard New York diner. I went here to meet and catch up with a friend. Food was pretty middle of the road - not bad but nothing special. If you want a genuine mom-and-pop, townie feel restaurant, Peppermint's is your place to go. One of my best friends worked here when he was younger and now whenever we drop in, its a barrage of "how are you doing"s and friendly smiles from the waitstaff and owner. I feel like I'm walking into my hometown diner as a kid with my dad. As for the food selection, you have pretty standard fare (mostly not vegan-friendly though, which again, for this kind of place is to be expected). Before I went vegan, I loved their french toast and they whip up a pretty solid egg substitute breakfast plate too. This place I can't recommend highly enough for the atmosphere. Came here on a Saturday morning with my mom to grab breakfast. When we arrived it was only one server, but she was very attentive to all of her tables. Our waitress was very friendly and energetic and made our first visit very pleasant. I liked that she always came over to fill our coffee. I never saw the bottom of the cup. A lot of regular customers came in as the waitress seemed to know them. I ordered the Irish Benedict with home fries and addition of blueberry pancakes. My mom got the 2-2-2 special (2 eggs,2 sausages, 2 bacon and 2 pancakes). When our orders came out everything visually looked great. The blueberry pancakes were mediocre, but the benedict tasted great and hollandaise sauce was delicious I was licking the sauce off the plate after I finished. My mother enjoyed her meal as well. Interior of the diner nice and clean, Food: great, Price: fair, Service: Excellent (2 thumbs up!). If yelp allowed 1/2 stars I would give this place 4.5/5. This is most certainly my new favorite place to eat! We live close by and wanted to try a different family restaurant, the staff is always attentive and friendly. Before I start... The drinks do not come in cute mason jars any more!!!! Wahhhh Went for breakfast around noon with my boyfriend. I had the spinach and feta omelet with rye toast. It was one of the best omelets I've had, albeit a bit on the greasy side (no wonder it was so damn good). The spinach was actually fresh and NOT from a can, which I can truly appreciate, and the feta was fresh and in abundance. Toast was thick and hearty, nothing to complain about. My bf got the blueberry pancakes which he wasn't overly impressed with. He said the batter was a little to doughy tasting, but again, fresh blueberries, not from a can or even frozen for that matter. Another plus. The service was friendly and prompt. Our waitress refilled my luke warm coffee without me having to ask, and the second cup was much warmer...although not as hot as I would have liked. I felt it was a tad pricey for breakfast... About 23 bucks before tip for two people... I've had cheaper, but this was a little better fare than I've previously had for cheap. We come to Rochester a lot because our daughter attends college here, and we found this gem because we stayed in Henrietta. Dinner choices are plentiful. The side salad was large, with very fresh ingredients. The gyros were delicious, too. Price was very reasonable. Highly recommend this place! read more

We stopped in Henrietta on our way to Toronto. There was a Tim Horton's right next to our motel but decided to take a brisk 5 minute walk to Peppermint's for "real food". We are very glad we did, the entire experience was wonderful. The food was good, the portions were good, and our server Kathy was absolutely awesome! I ordered the chef's special and my husband got the cheesecake stuffed French toast, and both were very good. There was so much food we had to pack some to go! If we ever stay in this town again we will be sure to stop at this place again for breakfast. read more

Peppermints has the diner food with a nicer atmosphere than expected! The waitress was so friendly, and the food was delicious. And it was so reasonably priced! You can tell that Peppermints is a local favorite, with plenty of regulars here. Everyone was nice, and I think this local atmosphere felt very comfortable and welcoming. We had high hopes for Peppermints based on the Yelp reviews and the feeling we got when we walked in. The hostess/server was really friendly and the place looked clean. We were there on a Sunday morning around 8:30am for breakfast. My wife and I ordered a spinach feta omelet and my son ordered a cheese omelet. The omelets come with either hash browns or home fries. Both of the spinach and feta omelets had an off flavor. They tasted like the oil they used was rancid. The home fries and hash browns also had the same off flavor. We were very disappointed because we thought we found a good breakfast place when we visit Rochester. read more

If you're looking for a down-to-earth diner experience, this is the place. I will say, there wasn't much a selection of vegetarian food - but, diners don't usually have that. I came here specifically for Greek diner food and was very satisfied with my dish. The biggest issue was that the front end staff seemed quite stressed/inattentive. I'm not sure if it was a bad day or what. But, the saving grace was when another staff member began talking to us at the counter. He learned that I studied in Greece and we had a long conversation about Greek life and different areas. Super friendly and I have a feeling he's friendly with many people - not just someone with basic Greek language skills. Delicious food, friendly down to earth service and they cooked the steak right! The hash browns were to die for, and warning for pancakes they put the toppings on top and not cooked in it. I was looking for a diner close to the current area I was in. Drop mother n law at airport, headed over here due to good Yelp reviews. The place looked clean inside. I was promptly seated and I ordered their In house made Hash and eggs. The food came in a good amount of time and the server was polite and attentive. The hash was good not great and not bad. We just got back from Sunday brunch with our kids and had a great experience at Peppermints! It's a large family diner just down the street from our neighborhood and we had never been here in 13 years. We really like diners so we Yelped it, and the positive reviews were deserved. The menu is pages long and there was a separate "specials" page. The place was packed, but parking was easy, the booths are comfortable, and the staff were very efficient. Food came quickly. My partner and I had Eggs Benedict: 2 perfectly cooked eggs over a slice of fresh tomato and wilted spinach, topped with an excellent hollandaise sauce, served with home fries. Even the English muffin was delicious! The kids ordered waffles with sides of bacon & home fries. One of the girls ordered a milkshake and reported it was very good (she's our milkshake critic, and not easy to please). The hash browns were not stellar, but forgivable considering we were well satisfied with the rest of the meal. We came home with leftovers from the generous portions. I was in the area after an appointment so stopped in for breakfast. I immediately noticed how clean the restaurant was. No sticky diner table for me! I had a weekday breakfast special of eggs(over hard), home fries with onions, and raisin toast. 6.99 plus a 60 cents upcharge for something. The eggs were perfectly fried. Home fries were good, just a bit greasy. Toast was thick, chewy, and not burned. Yay! My server, Colleen, was very attentive! She was seating, cashiering, and serving. The three of us went here early yesterday evening, and while we are not regulars, this was not our first time in this diner. The decor was fairly nice but rather dark. The restrooms need repair - my wife says the toilet didn't feel like it was mounted to the floor, and the men's room had a broken hand dryer and a hole in the wall. Part of the reason for the higher rating is the food and the service. I had a chicken Alfredo that was nice and creamy. I thought it could use a little seasoning but otherwise not bad. My wife enjoyed her pot roast, and was pleased to find that their mashed potatoes are real (not that instant garbage). My son also liked his chicken tenderloins. Our server had a thick accent, but a very pleasant attitude. Overall, she was cheerful and seemed to have plenty of energy. That always makes for a more positive experience. read more

We've eaten at Peppermints a few times and I don't think we can go back after our last experience. We were there for breakfast and two people in our party ordered pancakes. As our food came out and the pancake people started to put syrup on their pancakes and cut them up, we noticed an ANT on the plate. After opening the syrup container, we saw another ant swimming in the syrup. We notified the waitress who had the kitchen make new orders for those two people and she brought out warmed up syrup from a different batch. We were completely grossed out. I ordered eggs, bacon and toast with homefries and my meal was nothing special. I kind of expected that they would comp at least one of the meals, AFTER AN ANT crawled out of the syrup, but they didn't.
