It's been 2 years since I ordered from Pepperoni Express. I used to call in my delivery orders and mostly liked their food. Then I stopped in and saw how dirty the kitchen was. I was really hungry for pizza tonight and Domino's website doesn't work, so I thought I'd give PE another try. They said 80 minutes for delivery. Fine. It arrived in 50 minutes - 1/2 hour early - just as I sat on the throne to duke. Doorbell. 15 seconds. Doorbell. 15 seconds. Knock knock. One quick wipe and hand rinse. Run to the door 10 seconds later. 45 seconds total. Driver was gone and the food was left on the concrete front stoop in 39F weather. The place is 0.6 miles from my house and the food was just a tepid temperature. $25.50 Food $0.76 service fee $1.78 food sales tax 7% $0.05 sales tax 6.25% on fees $3.00 delivery fee $3.11 tip (10%) $34.20 TOTAL Notice that they calculate the 10% tip for you, but that's based on all of the fees and taxes too. EDIT: I ordered a large Italian sub with just mayo (no oil and vinegar) to eat for lunch the next day. What do I find on my sub at lunch the next day? I know food business can be messy, but i have to say the sandwich I ordered was good. I had stopped going here because it was dirty, enough for me to notice. I saw they were closed over the summer so i went back assuming it would be very clean because they had been closed. Not the case, there is a layer of grease on credit card machine and counter. I ordered delivery online and it was pretty bad. The driver dropped my food off in the vestibule of my building rather than bringing it to my door as expected. She stated that my note said to do so but it so did not. I'm on crutches, why on Earth would I type that! But she swore repeatedly that I did. She had to come back to deliver my food to my door which took an extra 10min, which meant my food was cooled down a great degree by the time I started to eat it. They also messed up the order in multiple ways. I asked for a pizza with half green peppers and onions, and half extra cheese. I received it with all extra cheese, half onion, and half green peppers. I also did not receive the side salad that is supposed to come with the pasta dinner (of which was covered in cheese even though I asked them to go light), and did not get the extra marinara as indicated for the mozzarella sticks. As far as the food itself, the pizza was below average, being cooled off didn't help. The mozzarella sticks are battered not breaded, of which I prefer the latter, and the fries may have been half way decent if they weren't cool and soggy by the time I got them. I didn't expect it to be stellar food coming from a chain restaurant but I didn't expect it to be this poor either. Won't be ordering from them again, that's for sure. read more

I was getting my tires changed up the road, walked in and no one was there. there was a chewed Cobb of corn on one of the tables and no one in sight. I grabbed a drink and a menu and waited to be helped. a 3-4 y/o child wondered out of the back and around the back of the business. then a man followed and took my order. I've been living in the Shrewsbury area for a year but just went to Pepperoni Express for the first time the other night. The staff were all friendly and service was great. We got a large Napoleon Dynamite pizza, very nice combo! My son got a small meatball pizza and my other son had a tuna sub. The pizza's were all cooked to perfection and my son loved his tuna sub (that is what he gets all the time). One of the guys at the counter even gave my kids an order of Onion Rings (on the house), and they were also cooked to perfection and were delicious! read more

Used to be a go-to take-out option but never again! Ordered 1 small onion pizza, 1 meatball sub and an order of curly fries on 4/16/23 for delivery. Estimated delivery time was 65 minutes and was accurate. The onions appeared to have been fried before placing them on the pizza which was covered with too much oily cheese that sat like a puddle and oozed over the sides of the pizza. The cheese was flavorless and the onions tasted burned. It was not eaten - what a waste! The sub also had flavorless meatballs that seemed wet (from water, not sauce), minimal tomato sauce and more of the flavorless cheese. Again, barely eaten. The curly fries were acceptable but why do they throw ketchup packets onto hot, greasy food? Last delivery order experience with them was similar - badly tasting food - so this was their redeeming chance. They also forgot the soda but promised to give a replacement when stopping in. First of all, the online order system on their website apparently doesn't work. It will let you send in an order, they just won't get it. Secondly, they have moved. Their website still shows their old address. You can only learn their new address by going to the old place and reading the sign. They are actually at 344 Boston turnpike not 506. The pizza here is pretty good, I usually get the thin crust Florentina pie which has salami, mushrooms and fresh oregano. Really nice. The normal pizzas aren't quite as good, but still better than many in the area. As for the sandwiches, they are nothing special at all, and the side of buffalo wings I got were practically inedible they were so salty. There are two locations (Grafton and Shrewsbury). Grafton location is always unorganized. Shrewsbury location is quick and efficient and their staff is great! I will say the Shrewsbury parking lot is a nightmare because of the Indian Supermarket a couple doors down. Pizza is good. Mozzeralla sticks are good, greek salad is good. My wife and I moved from the west coast and we've been looking for a pizza joint like this since we got here. After over a dozen attempts we've finally found it. The pizza here hits the spot. It's the right blend of good cheese, good sauce, and most importantly, good crust. New York style has its place but it doesn't have the craving-to-gluttonous-fill factor that makes you want to eat the whole pizza, sometimes with success, even though you were full after the second slice.
