Peppi's is great! As far as New York style pizza goes, this is the closest I've had outside of NY and CT. Really great.

I don't understand the glowing reviews this restaurant received. I'm especially and extremely unimpressed. More annoyed than anything. I was displeased with almost everything this pizzeria had to offer. The only thing I was happy with was the service. It is small and, somehow (I don't understand why), crowed. There is absolutely no room to move at all. You take one step and you're on top of somebody. Also, the tables are so small that when move just an inch, your legs hit somebody else's. The food is nothing to write home about. The last time we came, the pizza was late, dry, overcooked, chewy (how?), and just plain terrible. I always try to be positive and give a place a second chance but, today, the food was late, again, dry, undercooked, and still chewy! I have been eating here for years and the food is not as good as it used to be. Lasagna in the past was good and now sloppy, no taste and not the same quality. After a friend told me that they had the best sandwiches and to give them another try, I ordered an Italian sub today to take to the beach. It took forever and came out hot... seriously?? the lady who took my order kept saying that it would be good hot... great... but not what I ordered or waited 20 minutes for... after waiting forever the bread was stale and i threw it away... They used to have a great sauce but now the food is trash. Please teach the kitchen how to cook Italian dishes with care... liked the mom and pop type place but now it's just crap... not sure if anyone there knows ... or cares...any longer ... read more

We've been going to Peppi's for 13 years. Always good, always the same. Best eggplant parmegiana I've ever had. It is not gourmet food. It is inexpensive real Italian. Good pizzas, good simple salad with good Italian dressing. Never disappoints. Big portions. Very TASTY. read more

The BEST cheesesteaks and pizza in Naples! I visit Peppi's at least once a week sometimes more often. I have never had a bad meal here. From their soups to Eggplant Parm, or simply a salad I feel like I am back home in Philly. They have real authentic Italian food here. I have tried several other places in Naples but always come back to Peppi's. From Mama watching over the place to the wonderful waitresses, you will not be disappointed. On a whim and a local recommendation, dinner here was spectacular. Warm and inviting in a casual enviornment with real Italians operating the establishment and real Italian music playing in the background. Service was prompt, curious and very respectful. The food was delivered quickly and it was hot. Brilliant flavors throughout. If your dish called for Garlic, they used real Garlic (like you should) instead of a flavored powder. We started with a Caesar salad. The dressing may have well been Italian. No Parmesan cheese came with it. The waitress told us to use the saw dust Parmesan in the shaker on the table. We ordered a pizza with 5 toppings, invisible salami, clumps of frozen spinach, pickled peppers, pickled artichokes, and unrecognizable eggplant (maybe it was pickled also, don't know). Due to all the pickled toppings the pizza had an overwhelming taste of vinegar. Why not fresh ingredients? The crust was good and service was fine but it is doubtful that we will come again. This sanctuary of food and solace has held a special place in the heart of me and my husband heart for 15 years. While staying at The Edgewater hotel in 2003 we asked someone at the desk to recommend a great place /family-friendly. She quickly responded, "The place all the locals love is Peppi's." Best advice ever! Family owned and operated. From the table cloths to the China- You feel like you have a come to your Italian grandma's house. Just thinking about it makes me long to be there. Food is spectacular-Service is excellent. But during the 'season' make sure you get there early because it gets very crowded at 5p very quickly. I'm sorry but canned mushrooms and clumps of frozen spinach aren't really acceptable pizza toppings in my opinion. Maybe just don't offer vegetables as pizza toppings if they are all from cans or frozen. My husband picked up a pepperoni pizza and ham sub. They were both delicious, when I read some of the negative reviews the only thing I can think of is people aren't use to authentic italian pizza. We stopped at Peppi's for a quick lunch over the Thanksgiving holiday-- it's one of my in-laws' go-tos. The menu at lunch is small, and you might be out of luck if you're not a fan of tomato sauce. We did end up liking everything we ordered; my eggplant sub was delicious, my husband enjoyed the meatball sub, and both the pizza and spaghetti & meatball were apparently quite good as well. I'm no chef/food critic, but one thing I do know is good pizza. The pizza here is neither a bargain nor delicious. We found the portions to be meager for the price, and the quality lacking. Our pizza was scarce on cheese and slightly over cooked. The cheese bread tasted cheap and was more-than-slightly overcooked. Part of me thinks that it borders on blaspheming to name a pizza joint by ANY name sounding remotely close to the Mecca itself - that being Frank Pepe's Neapolitan Pizzeria - or "Pepe's" by those who know - and by extension - love Pep's. That said, this joint makes a tremendous pizza. We all know that the basic cheese is the best determinant of quality. Two nights ago (at 10 minutes prior to closing) I called in the order. No problem, she said. It would be ready once I arrived. (I confess that I strayed from the basic cheese and called in a Margherita) Sure enough - it was being sliced as I entered. Great crust. Just the right amount of crunch/inner moisture. Nothing soggy. Tomato slices were thin, basil was fresh. It IS not what I call "Pepe's" (New Haven, CT). It is, after all - "Peppi's". Best pizza in Naples. The white pizza is my favorite with mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, and mushrooms. It is thin crust pizza and you can get it by the slice. One or two slices is perfect for me. They have table service or to go. Good prices and fast. Not a huge place and it does get very busy. Everyone is so nice and a great neighborhood pizza place. On vacation in Naples last week we picked up Peppi's for a quick dinner one night. Not impressed. We had pepperoni, green pepper and onion. Too many overcooked onions but the green pepper and pepperoni's were nice. The crust was strange, not too crispy but not soft or chewy it was just kind of dry. Found the cheese quite greasy too. It's laudable that it is a family-run restaurant, but having children and fussy babies behind the counter and kitchen, with family members/ friends hanging around was a bit weird. What a great little pizza joint. I don't recall the name of the pizza we ordered but it was a white pizza with ricotta cheese, spinach, mushrooms and Italian sausage. We added the red sauce and substituted the mushrooms for artichokes. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The crust was cooked to a crispy perfection. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous. You HAVE to try Peppi's. It is in a strip mall and small but the pizza and pasta are authentic and delicious ! The staff are all family of Peppi. It is fun to hear all the Italian being spoken between them. The pizza dough is thrown in the air and turns out crispy and yummy. Oh my goodness! So so good. I always get a couple Peronis with my meal. And the salad is simple but delicious too. We ALWAYS go to Peppis our first night in Naples. And usually go back a second time that week. haha.
