We love Perdido Beach Resort except for one thing. They allow smoking outside on the property. The pool area should not belong to the smokers. A smokers shack by the road is more appropriate. It's time PBR. I don't want to smoke against my will any longer. read more

We had a group of 30 at the piano bar and Latitudes for a birthday cocktail party. Even though it was an informal gathering of locals, they exceeded expectations. We were given an area in the restaurant. Our dedicated server, Marvin was amazing. This is the kind of service we don't see anymore. Well, it is alive and well at The Perdido Beach Resort. Just spent the weekend here while in town for a wedding. I was super impressed with the hotel interiors, amenities around the hotel and then the rooms. Nice big lobby windows allow you to see the beach and waves in the background plus a lovely pool area. Sad it was too cold to utilize it. The room was very spacious with a mini frig + coffee maker. But the bed was off the hook comfortable. And the pillows were great too very full and soft. We did use the indoor jacuzzi one night - nice way to end the nite. We had ate most of our meals elsewhere, but on Sat. am we did eat in the main restaurant. For a complete buffet brunch they only charged $9.99! Highly recommend it. read more

This was a last minute trip. To be with family who are not going to be here with us for long. The last trip we will have with my mother in law. The hotel was more than accommodating and the staff were helpful and friendly. It's funny one of the receptionists had a tag on that read" the best receptionist" and she truly was. Shook our hands and welcomed us to the beginning of our weekend. Made us feel at home in the middle of our anxiety and stress. This is truly a place to relax and get away. We stayed here during the first week of February, 2018. Overall the resort is quite nice. The location is wonderful and the beach is beautiful. The room was well equipped when we got there. Now the down sides. Staff - For an overall week, we were rarely greeted or even acknowledged by the staff. Definitely not very welcoming. Second - Housekeeping...We largely left the "Privacy Please" out, but halfway through wanted to have the room cleaned. I put the "New sheet" placard on the bed. When we got back, no new sheets, and the floor had not even been vacuumed. Lastly - the wi-fi - I would call it slow and spotty at best. Would I go back? What a gem! I just checked out 2 days ago and I am already dying to go back... a lovely hotel in Orange Beach. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax in the OB/GS area, this is it! Pros: - The oceanfront rooms are amazing and worth every penny (not cheap!). We slept with the doors open and waking up to the sound of the waves was perfect. The view was amazing. Most rooms have a partial ocean view and honestly those are great too. I've stayed in both. I am glad we splurged this time but it's unnecessary. - Variety of dining options was good - casual dining, fine dining with a beautiful view, pizza, ice cream, etc. - Free valet (tip well, of course!) with fast and friendly service. - Front desk staff and housekeeping staff was very friendly. - Perfect location... close to Flora-Bama, great restaurants, shops, etc. - The beach is as good as it gets! - Beautiful pool. Cons: - Hard to rent a chair on the beach. We finally just sat down and honestly nobody ever bothered us to pay. Worked out well for us but the system is flawed. - The pizza place was pretty gross; they didn't seem to clean it often enough. - There are 2 hot tubs but kids running around all over the place. There is an adult only hot tub but it's not closed off so it's really loud. Overall: This place is amazing and I can't wait to go back next year... so relaxing, great beach, nice rooms, and the best location! read more

Mostly everyone was extremely friendly and resourceful! Everything from dining, to activities are at the resort! Regular rooms: need an upgrade as they are rather dated but the beds are comfortable and the views were really beautiful (they do have club level rooms that they say are updated but for the price you pay you could go elsewhere for spacious, cleaner and updated rooms). Pool/Beach/Beach access: they have direct beach access from main lobby and beach level. The beach is NOT wheelchair/stroller accessible; but they try to accommodate your needs as best they can. They have reservable beach seating/umbrella/shade for varying prices (one day was $30 USD). They also provide beach towels in beach level. The beach was very clean!! There are tons of activities available (at varying costs) from parasailing, paddle boating, beach volleyball, boating, etc just ask about in the lobby. The pool is clean and large with a smaller indoor part, kiddies pool and two hot tubs(one is adults only). Food: If you enjoy southern style breakfast LAltitude 30 has a really good breakfast buffet menu with an omelet station and wonderful serving staff! They had a breakfast package which I would recommend if staying at the hotel. They also had more upscale dining at Voyager and everything we had was great, for dessert I would highly recommend the bread pudding!!!!!!!!! They also have beach bar and grill for with items like hummus platter, burgers, ice cream, wings and such!! Overall our family enjoyed our stay, the room was disappointing but apart from that everything's was awesome and the best part, especially with children is that you don't need to leave the resort everything is there!! read more

Stayed here for a long weekend with my wife. I'm 40 for a frame of reference. Drove down Friday afternoon and got here about 11. Check in was quick. Lobby had live music and was incredibly loud, but since I didn't spend any time there, it didn't matter. Next night was the same, but I just didn't hang out in the lobby again. There was a wedding reception right off our balcony which you could hear with the doors closed, but it wasn't too bad. Room is an adequate room by first impression. Nice that they provide 6 pillows on the king bed and the bed was very firm, which I like. Balcony looked right out at the beach as promised. TV was adequate, channel selection a bit limited (although 7 PBS stations) and definitely not HD. Made me nostalgic for broadcast. Really could use a Keurig. Fridge, no microwave but there is one by the ice machine down the hall if you need one. Bathroom was small, very small. The door didn't clear the toilet by much. The shower was small and the installation of a grab bar and soap dish right in the middle meant I showered sideways as I have broad shoulders. Water pressure and temperature was excellent. Took me a bit to figure out the shower (pull down the ring under the faucet to switch to shower). I imagine this stumps some people for a while. My wife wondered how many calls a day they get to explain it. Beach is sugar sand and the chairs for $30 a day for the pair is reasonable. Ocean is sandy bottom. Lots of jellyfish the closer you get to the breakwall about 20 yards out and further. Not much to see snorkeling except a couple of stingrays, small fish and lots of jellies if you don't mind swimming through them. Towels are complementary and you get them at the dive and snorkel shop. Pool was pretty dirty (floating bus, etc) and we didn't use it, but others did so I can't help you there. We were scheduled to be there for the 4 nights of September 14-17, but left after 2 nights because our accommodations were terrible. First, water condensed on the floor so our socks, shoes, and feet were constantly getting wet. The front desk sent a technician to check the HVAC and mop up the water. But the next morning it was wet again. Second, no matter how long we ran the hot water, it never got hot. Therefore, we were unable to shower. Third, the sinks were very slow to drain -- terrible design. We were disappointed not be be able to stay the whole time with our group, but conditions were intolerable, so we left early. There was no offer to comp any of the days that we experienced these conditions. We will never return. read more

If I hear one more time..."We are are in the off season!" Good grief! We picked Alabama in November for a reason it's 75 degrees and sunny . We are from Michigan this kind of weather IS beach weather. I specifically called and asked about amenities BEFORE BOOKING HERE and was assured all would be up and running however this was most definitely not the case!!! We had very much been looking forward to a catamaran cruise the boat is out of the water and under construction because it's "the off season." There are no chairs or umbrellas on the beach because it's "the off season." There's no HOT WATER in our room because... you guessed it ... it's "the off season." This was a running theme our entire stay at this not so fine establishment. All of this nonsense and the hotel is under construction itself with hammering and banging going on day & night. Do not stay here! There's PLENTY of other choices for accommodations along the ocean front. This is no place special, good memories will NOT BE MADE HERE!!! read more

I was here for three days attending a work event. Overall I was pleased, but was not wowed. The location of the resort is it's biggest asset and most of the rooms have a great view of the beach and the water. The beach is really the star of this resort and the draw for the area. The resort has a board walk out to the beach and sets up beach chairs that you can reserve. It is interesting to note that there are places to leave your flip flops on the boardwalk so you can retrieve them when you return. There is even a beach shower station to rinse off the sand that you bring back with you. I did try the restaurant in the lobby for lunch and breakfast. I had a soft shell crab sandwich for lunch and was very pleased. The breakfast was a little pricey, but the selection was good enough. If you wake up early, take your breakfast to go and have breakfast on the beach, it was very peaceful. read more

The staff is wonderful. Parasailing was easily booked from the gift shop in the hotel. We arranged for a dolphin cruise with a hotel affiliate before our arrival as part of our reservation's process. Our room was clean and a good size for two kids and two adults. The cleaning staff was at work constantly in the halls, elevators, and other common areas. The hotel was spotless. We asked for a room with two king beds, but we got a room with two queen beds when we checked in. Not a big deal, but it wasn't what we asked for. Live music was pleasant to listen to in the evenings. It was a great background for conversations. The hotel even thought to put the live music on the speakers in the elevators, which was a very nice touch. In our room, the toilet continued to run after flushing. I took the cover off the commode and found that the trouble was cheap parts in the tank that did not allow the water to fill completely. I didn't say anything to the staff about it until I checked out because there would have been nothing that they could have done. The hotel just used cheap parts in the toilet. The only disappointing aspect of our stay was the incredibly slow service in the dining areas. Given the high cost of the menu items, the speed of service was particularly noticeable. My son waited 52 minutes for a hamburger and fries at the Splash Grille at poolside yesterday. This morning we waited almost an hour at Latitude 30, their bar and grille, for a single order of french toast at 11 am. I kid you not - one hour. When I talked with the hostess, she was very apologetic. She said that there was nothing that she could do to get the food to come out faster. The place was nearly empty. Our server apologized twice as well. We left without getting a check. We totaled the items ourselves and added 10% for the required tax. Overall, we were pleased, but I would not recommend any of the dining facilities unless you don't mind a lengthy wait for simple items that have high prices. We went to a local grocery store for our other meals. It just worked out better that way. Our room rate after taxes was $325 per night, but the food and dining experience is not at the $325 per night level. The visible dining staff is warm and inviting, but the back of the house needs work. read more

Booked online with CheapTickets ..I got there 1 hour early before checking time.. but they got me check in right away.. super quick and easy procedure .. valet parking is a breeze too.. the room's balcony is look out to the beach and the pool.. even I did not ask for it at the booking.. but is perfect ...love it.. bathroom is a little small.... The pool is nice and the area is plenty is seats for every ones.. I like it that it's only a few steps to the beach.. The only thing I don't like is the pizza place inside the hotel.. it's nasty.. burned and tasteless .. I threw the whole pizza away after try it just 1 bite.. I don't know how that they manage to cook it that bad because even frozen pizza would taste way better.. But I love the resort and may come back later next time if I go to the beach.. read more

Stay was very nice, you definitely get out what you put into it. Valet staff are always very cheerful, helpful, and go over the top in assisting those staying. Room was very accommodating and spacious, highly recommend a gulf front view room. Especially if you don't want to be close to the more noisy areas of the hotel, such as the pool and lobby at times. The beach was very nice with the chairs being included with the stay. Was a nice change from the usual services that nickel and dime you to simply sit in a chair. Moderate amount of travel needed to get to places like Walmart, not bad at all though. Overall the stay was very pleasant and I would definitely come back here again. read more

Traveled with 4 individuals. One person in our party cut their leg open on a beach chair that had metal piece that was sticking out. They said they check the chairs daily. Then they advertise all over the hotel shuttle rides. But when we were they were not offered. Manager on duty not too concerned about these issues. Front desk employees, not too friendly. This is an A-OK resort place to stay...though if I hadn't been there on business (with the employer picking up the tab) I would never voluntarily pay the rate I was charged...then again the room I was located in had a view of the pool and beach plus I know one pays for that ease of access to a private beach if one stays at a place like this... Now as I've noted in past hotel reviews I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to hotels and focus on cleanliness, bed comfort and shower water pressure...CHECK to all 3 so I found this place to fit my needs... They offer complimentary Valet parking which is nice...also 3 different dining options plus a bar/nightclub on the Beach level with an Arcade for the kids located on that level as well...nice pool, sweet little poolside bar...live music every afternoon around the pool but being on the 9th floor it didn't really impact me when I wanted to nap... Being a resort they are self contained to try and keep you from leaving...knowing that the restaurants tend to kick you with the prices...wasn't impressed with the prices for breakfast buffet at Cafe Palm Breeze but like I said they got you especially if you're there with the fam & the kids are ready to eat and hit the pool or beach... All in all it's A-OK and I'd stay here again but they'd have to offer a better room price if I was paying on my dime... read more

This place accidentally booked 3 rooms on my debit card on a Friday at check in. We had to stay at the beach for 3 days WITHOUT any money until the charges were reversed on monday. Not that nice of a place anyway and all management did was comp a breakfast. Thanks for nothing. UPDATE: I understand mistakes happen. The other rooms in the group had been checked in for hours before our arrival. There were no instructions given by me other than "use this card for this room". The breakfast was appreciated but does not make up for holding almost $1000.00 (all our money) for the duration of our trip. I expressed this to your manager (Mickey) and asked if he could do anything to help help us or at least discount our room. "No" was the answer I received. Honestly, I was more disgusted with Mickey's lack of concern than the fact that it happened. He is a terrible representative of your resort. I actually had to make the lady at the desk get him to come out and talk to me about the situation. read more

I booked a room at the front desk for 3 nights and promptly checked out the following morning. Walls are paper thin, you will hear everything. This old resort has aged quite a bit. While the "make up" looks to have been an attempt to remodel the room interior, the mattresses seem to be originals (overly soft and collapsed) and the AC was quite aged as well. The television is very poor quality and literally offered about 6 channels of PBS - not cable, not DTV, not anything other than a terrible, antique set of 20 or so channels. The bathroom was very, very small and made it almost impossible to move around in. This is the type of place that, if you're accustomed to staying at much older motels (not a resort or hotel, but a motel) it will seem nice - about the same size room as well. The "view" they offered (which was an extra charge) was effectively overlooking another hotel with a slight view of the beach. A telling sign that they seem to have issues with guest retention is the 1/2 day rate they charged me to check out "early". If a hotel is doing that, then they're likely used to people leaving because they are disappointed with what they've seen first hand. Following this stay, my wife and I left, drove to Hilton Head and booked an actual 4 star resort for less than half the nightly rate Perdido Beach Resort was charging. Not worth the money and I wouldn't recommend it for most people. If you think about staying here, think of the other options around there or anywhere - I'm sure they can't be as bad as this place. The one redeeming quality was the valet guys - nice folks. read more

I'm not exactly sure where to begin.. I checked in here on Friday morning and I have enjoyed myself immensely! The room doesn't have a microwave but there is one available in the vending area. The ice machine works and that's a plus because I brought coolers of water, juice and some soda with some deli meat and things to avoid wasting a lot if cash in eating out. The refrigerator in the room works great at keeping things cold. The beds... I have slept straight through the night for two nights in a row without any body pains or discomfort. Perfect! I can walk right out onto the beach each morning and I so love, love, love that! I have a wonderful view oh yeah free parking and the maid services are great. There is a game room on bottom level for kids, kiddie pool, and easy beach access. I will definitely use them again in the future. I am having such a wonderful end of summer vacation. read more

Eek! I love this place. If I could pack the bed up and take it with me, I would absolutely do so! Unlike other resorts I've stayed at, this one offers a mini refrigerator in the room. It's so refreshing to come to a clean room every day, which is different from condo beach trips. This facility is right on the beach with such wonderful amenities, you don't even have to leave (Isn't that the point? Resort, hello!). The pizza place is super yummy and convenient without being overly pricy. The pool is beautiful and quite large, although it was still quite chilly, as we traveled mid-April. We did not get to take advantage of the other restaurants on site, but we did take in the smells. 10/10 would stay here again and 10/10 would recommend to a friend. read more

We are currently staying here on vacation with our 4 children. It's an off week, so it's not super crowded, which we LOVE! Pros: the pool/hot tub is nice and big. Our room has a view of the beach. It's clean and maintained. The decor/carpet/furniture is updated. It is RIGHT across the street from the Dolphin Glass Bottom tour and pretty close to many other shops/gas/grocery stores. Cons: a lot of the employees here seem a little crabby..the maids were really nice though! You have to pay a hefty amount to rent the chairs on the beach for the day.. I was pretty surprised by this. And, the pools are VERY cold! All in all, the kids are happy so we are happy. But, for what it is as a whole I don't think the price is justified. *shrug* The view is gorgeous though! So, we got a room here on the night of a wine dinner. Knew the price was high because it was one of the last weekends before children were back in school. I want three main things in a hotel room. A very clean bathroom with nobody else's hair on the floor or footprints when I check in. No hair, holes, or large stains on the sheets, and nothing broken in the room. It took four rooms to get this. I will say that the gentleman at the front desk was wonderful throughout the entire thing. He even upgraded our room. That was nice, but not necessary. We did finally end up in a room where they changed the sheets, and I was happy. The hotel used to be a Hilton, and is owned by the same people who own Cain Vineyards. I think that perhaps my expectations were too high. In the end, I would probably only stay here again if it was a discounted rate and definitely not specially to go to a Cain Wine Dinner. The big positive was that the front desk staff was extremely friendly! read more

The place is clean, it is a little run down, but who stays in the room other than to sleep unless, you are there for other reasons anyway? The down side, the restaurants and bars were empty most of the time, I hate this economy. It has a great pool and spa, not too expensive and great beach access. Highly worth a stay. Wow... just wow. I travel A LOT for work, and this week I was scheduled to be working in Montgomery, Birmingham and Mobile, I decided I'd bring my 12 year old daughter with me before she starts school. I scheduled my travel to allow myself two days on the beach with her. Unfortunately, I only had ONE of those days at PBR. (no...not the beer). From the time I arrived until I left, I was nothing but surprised by the Southern Charm and attentiveness of the resort staff. We arrived around 11:45 am and drove to the front entrance to see complimentary valet. yes please!!!! Obviously it was before check in so our room wasn't ready, which I expected. They took our luggage and stored it with the concierge. Quad checked us in and he was quite helpful! We immediately went to the Beach. I was impressed to see the size of the pool area. There was a nice, casual beach bar/cafe with burgers, sandwiches, nachos, etc. They also had a full bar! I ordered a margarita and went straight to the beach! The water was cold, but the sun was hot so it was PERFECT!! After only an hour on the beach I received a call that our room was available. We left the beach and found that our luggage had been placed IN OUR ROOM. I'm used to this service in Vegas... or Mexico. Alabama?? nope. not so much. The room was spacious, the bathroom was CLEAN! (A HUGE deal for me seeing as though I travel so damn much). The view...wow. the view. It was perfect. We left for dinner.. Cotton's... get the ribeye and a 1/2 lobster.... thank me later... When we returned, we decided to get dessert at the restaurant on site. They also had a full bar. I WISH I could remember the bartenders name... It was Wednesday 7/25... she was amazing.... she's from Texas... and I hope someone from the resort sees this because she was the MOST pleasant person I encountered. We ordered from a server in the bar area because my daughter, who is 12, clearly cannot sit at the bar. The server disappeared. I never got the wine I ordered My daughter never got her chocolate milk, OR the coconut pie she asked for.... 20 minutes later, I finally went to the bar and politely asked for a glass of wine. The bartender knew we had been sitting there... I told her that whatever we needed, we could get from her. I used to bartend and serve... and every table/check counts towards your income. Clearly our server thought otherwise. None the less.. the beautiful bartender was fantastic. She was genuinely interested in our trip, in our stay, and she was so kind!! I expect the kindness while in the South, but we just clicked. I feel like an asshole because I dont remember her name... BUT - if you see this, Bartender from Wednesday night at 8:30 pm..... my daughter and I had a great time, thank you for your kindness and your attentiveness to our needs. Thank you PBR (again... not the beer, the resort). Unfortunately, you were booked for a second night so I'm stuck at the damn Holiday Inn Express down the road... they have higher rates than you.. and have NONE OF THE AMENITIES... My wife and two kids (5,1) stayed here for an extended Fourth of July holiday. We arrived on a Thursday and left on a Sunday. The property itself is a bit dated, but I found the rooms a little more recently refreshed. Our "partial ocean view" was more generous than expected. The staff was very friendly, too. The Good: 1. The beach is excellent. We usually visit Galveston, TX only because it's a few minutes from home. But it doesn't compare. White sand. Clean from trash and debris. Clear water by our standards. In what would otherwise be a three-star experience, the beach earns this review that fourth star. The beach chair and umbrellas are well worth the $30 charge. Staff will reposition the umbrella, take your trash, recommend things to do. 2. The fireworks show wowed. We lounged by the pool and watched with other families. It was a great vibe. People cheering. Since they shoot them from the beach, I've never been so close to major fireworks. These are not rinky-dink rockets from the road-side stand. These were legit. My family was impressed. 3. My kids wanted pizza the first night there. We're Italian and have high standards for that sort of thing. I expected cardboard. But what was delivered to our room was pretty darn good. No individual ingredients stood out, but the sum was greater than it's parts. Came to $12 per pie, served right up to our room piping hot. Leftovers in the room fridge let us snack on it the next day. The Bad: 1. Our room was dirty when we arrived. Really dirty. Under the bed there were 20+ jellybeans, and a tennis ball that had obviously been chewed by a dog (interesting considering that the property doesn't allow pets). An article of clothing was left in one of the drawers. The desk was covered in a sticky red substance. Flies buzzing, though I realize that can happen with a balcony. Now, after that first impression - which was horrendous - I found the cleaning crew to be competent. But no guest should ever arrive to their room in that state. 2. Breakfast at Latitude 30 was disappointing. It's priced so well that I guess I can't really gripe. But the buffet is just sorry. The woman on the omelet station was without skill or care. The pastry tray remained empty the entire time we ate. The syrup was beyond room temperature to the point of tasting chilled (who does that?). Our waitress spilled OJ on our five-year-old because she failed to put the lid on. At least she didn't charge us for it, I guess. Overall, I'd stay at Perdido again. But more because of the beach proximity and set-up than the qualities of the resort. The beach and the staff who work it really are remarkable. Those college kids working the sand deserve a raise. They spoiled us. They cared. They were charming. And they made us forget about all the little blips related to the property. Kudos to the guys and girls in those neon yellow shirts. read more

Beautiful, relaxing and staff was very friendly. Was with a group for a convention and the hotel was very accommodating in every aspect. The pizza was outstanding and the food at the conventions was also great! Already planning our next trip! View from our room! read more
