You order and pay at the counter and they bring your food to your table. All of the food had a nice flavor. Parking in front can be dicey if traveling south on Tidewater Trail. Peruvian chicken is a personal favorite, and full disclosure, I've been on a bit of a Peru-Pollo binge recently. So, I turned to Yelp to see where was the closest joint to get my fix. My choice today was the 1/4 chicken with 2 sides: fried plantain and arroz chaufa, also adding an extra side of fried yuca. Chicken: 4/5 - but probably because I panicked and didn't correct my order for dark meat, instead I kept the white meat. It wasn't too heavily charcoaled or seasoned, could possibly do with a little more seasoning but I still ate the whole thing --and skin (yeah, I'm one of those. Get over it.) The meat was tender, tore away from the bone, and doused in green sauce went down a treat. Sides: The yuca (5/5) was on point, perfectly fried but still light and fluffy on the inside. The plantain (5/5) was PERFECT, and a great contrast with the Aji Verde green sauce (packs a punch on the spicy scale, delicious!) The arroz chaufa (3/5) was okay, not the chaufa I'm used to eating; a little too oily for my liking, but that's down to personal taste. Lastly, Customer Service: 5/5. Michelle, thanks for being so sweet and taking care of me and participating in my Spanglish talk. I enjoy speaking Spanish whenever I can to make sure I don't forget how to converse in the language. Their food offerings are really good, even if they have more "American" sides to cater to those who don't want the spicy, flavorful stuff, than they have good, Hispanic sides. The food was great... When it comes to Peruvian chicken the flavor in the chicken is the most important part. Not sure how they season or marinate their chicken at Perfect pollo, but the taste was just not there for me. My whole family was not impressed. The chaufa rice also had a strange taste. Again, not sure what spice it is, but it had almost a sort of sweet taste that just did not suit our palates. I've had great Peruvian chicken and based on the reviews was hoping this would be another place I add to my go tos. The size of the sides are also very small compared to other places. Before the quarter chicken was enough for both lunch and dinner and filled up the take out box. No more. I thought they had left half of the chicken out it was so small. Maybe because of the size, it was a bit overcooked and dry. The disappointment was palpable. I'm sorry to say that this might be our last time of getting food from them. The flavor and freshness of the chicken ( which are cooked every 20 minutes) were perfect. Lots of options for sides including fried rice, plantains, vegetables, French fries and salad. They also have other meal options including beef and seafood. They had a variety of sauces for dipping that were enjoyable and catered to different taste buds. I feel kinda bad leaving this review because the employees were SO nice but the food was just bad. The chicken lacked flavor and the rice was so dry and hard I felt like I was eating rocks. The yellow sauce lacked flavor as well and the green sauce wasn't spicy AT ALL. They were playing boring music from the 80s. I wished they played more ethnic music or just something Peruvian since this place is a Peruvian restaurant. The reason they're even getting 2 stars is because the employees were friendly and they're also taking safety precautions during the pandemic. The Chicken sub w/ fries was also very good and probably the best value item on the menu. Everything comes with two sauces: an aioli and a spicy green sauce. For those looking for Halal food, this is one of the few Peruvian places that's completely Halal as the Owner was proud to point out. Unfortunately that means no pork, but at least there's seafood. Service: The owner is very enthusiastic about talking with his customers and is very kind. The staff are attentive and reasonably quick in their preparation. Good food takes time to prepare, but they aren't slacking as you can easily see. Location: The restaurant is very clean. It wasn't dry at all being under the light. It still looked fresh and newly cooked. The plantains wasn't super sweet and the vegetables was steamed. The chicken wasn't dry and it was perfect. The ceviche had 3 kinds of seafood. I was lucky that they have the seafood the I love to eat. It had fish, shrimp and octopus. It wasn't too acidic and it was truly refreshing . I would definitely buy from this place again because the flavor is endless. Their dine in was safe too , especially how they put the tables with a good distance . You can also eat outside . The food and in store service are really, really good. Before COVID, we went there a lot. We ordered a couple of times with delivery. The first time, the order was wrong. The second time the driver came to the door without a mask and told us that we owed $10 cash for delivery. The third attempt we were told the delivery fee was $10. Food cost $20ish so that is a 50% delivery fee. My guess is that they do not want to deliver. So we pick it up. That does mean that we don't get Perfect Pollo very often as other places are more reasonable in delivery fees. And their staff wears a mask. Just sayin'. It makes me sad to rate this so low as the food (especially the potatoes) is very good. But I feel like the delivery fee is simply too much. read more

Decent food! I wasn't expecting much when I went inside, but was greeted by a few staff members and offered some small conversation by someone who appeared to be the manager. A friend and I dined at Perfect Pollo this evening for the first time. I had passed it a few days ago and was curious. We were offered a nice friendly greeting when we walked in. While we were ordering our food we were trying to decide what sides to order, the patrons who were dining gladly offered suggestions. The chicken was delicious! I ordered a quarter white and my friend ordered a quarter dark. Both of our entrees were juicy and well seasoned. The sides were equally as good.
