Maybe it's weird to have an eyebrow threading place in the subway, but the price is right and most of the technicians won't go thread-happy (although this has happened to me a few times). I started coming here after a horrible threading experience that left scabs by my eyebrows. Here they are fabulous - really gentle. I have nice naturally shaped eyebrows and just go for cleanup of extra hair. I like the shape of my thick eyebrows and other places I went to in the past would thin them to American standards of beauty and then I had to grow them out again - so annoying!! I am of Caribbean decent, part black and part Indian and I love my thick eyebrows - at Perfect Shape - they will keep your natural shape and thickness and just groom them to perfection!!!! I've only had good experiences here with threading! I usually go during my lunch break and I've never waited more than 5 minutes, and all of the girls do a great job with threading. I wouldn't come here for waxing, though - I did it once and it didn't seem very sanitary. Also - you get a discount if you show your Rockefeller Center privilege card! :-) read more

It was my savior today. I work alot and do not have all the time in the world to fix my face. By today, 6 weeks was my threshold I NEEDED to go. Now my usual spot is in murrary hill, but I wouldn't get there until Sunday. That is way too much time. So I found Perfect Shape on the yelp website and decided to check them out. FYI for you Rockefeller Concourse shoppers, this place is located near subways, and Mrs. Fields- close to the 49th street and 6th ave, dont do the same mistake as me, walk down to the huge Starbucks and then go oh, wrong way. My experience was good, the women were attentive and I got a compliment from them for my sweater. So they have a good eye for fashion. My service lasted about 5 minutes, very efficient and $8. This is so far the only place I have been to for eyebrow threading, and it hasn't been that bad either.. this is a very good location. If you're on a rush and traveling, this is right next to the subway station. There's no really time to wait, if you go toward the evening, but from what I noticed around lunch hour it can get busy, but for about a 15 minute wait, the line goes fast. You're on and out of the chair in about 5 to 8 minutes. It was $8 to $9 to get your eyebrow wax, and with a gratitude fee... that's reasonable priced for the location. You can also speak with the people there, their English is okay, and there is a nice soft music playing in the background. read more

BEST BRAZILIAN EVER! I have tried several salons such as European Wax Center and have never had a better result. The salon is conveniently located on the concourse level of Rockefeller Plaza, seconds away from the BDFM trains. For threading, which I suspect is their most popular service, there are plenty of chairs and stations for service. Toward the back is their waxing room which is pretty standard looking to me. Sure there could be some renovations, but overall it was what to be expected. I will admit, I was VERY nervous after reading most of the reviews about waxing here. However, many of the reviews were written years ago. The price was right ($40.00 plus a 10% discount with my Rockefeller Center card) and the salon was less than a minute away so I decided to give it a shot. (besides, I have had some of the worst brazilian experiences ranging from leftover patches of hair to false pulls and bleeding.) I was able to get an appointment during my lunch hour and the salon seemed empty. I was taken to the back right away. My waxer's name was Happy and she was very nice and professional. She asked if I preferred regular (Gigi wax) or chocolate wax for sensitive skin with no upcharge. I asked her to decide and we went with the chocolate wax. She began and usually the first pull is the worst. It was almost painless. It felt like an eyebrow wax as far as a pain scale goes. I almost thought that I would have a poor result because it hardly hurt me. Quite the opposite, Happy was very thorough and I was left without any patches or strays. I can't speak on threading or any other services, but this will be my go-to salon for waxing. read more

Not sure why I did not write a review here before but i have been coming here for 6 years and will only go to Abby! amazing! Now when i recommend my friends and say walk to radio city hall and go down into the train station and you will see a salon, they look at me like i have 5 heads ( but with pretty eyebrows ) A salon in a train station might not sounds fabulous, but Abby knows what she is doing. Tried this place for the first time today with the whole works, eyebrow threading and bikini wax. I like that all the threading/waxing goes on behind a wall, as the entrance is right by the subway and feels very exposed. I know people like threading better than waxing, but I find it much more painful! This place did ok, and she had me hold the skin taught, which makes it hurt less. Thankfully she finished quickly and didn't take all my eyebrows off. The bikini wax was good, fairly quick (very key) and they use this chocolate wax that has a nice smell. They keep their wax in individual containers which they throw away at the end. It's really nice to know that they care about being sanitary. Overall good experience. read more

Like the rest of the Yelpers here, I also pass this place everyday on my way to work but never had the courage to come in. Until today. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and don't have any time to go to my usual girl in Jersey City, and my brows needed some cleaning up. I was in and out of there in 5 mins. Love it. I had to run another errand after this one, so I was hoping that there was no waiting time and I could get that done to. I came in a little before 2 pm and there was no one in there. I said I wanted a little bit of an arch and I got it. Got my upper lip done too. She was quick, yo! Nice! The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the price. I pay $7 to get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded in JC, but today I paid a whopping $13! (plus $2 tip. That's how I roll.) That's cray cray. But $6 is the extra price I pay for procrastinating. Sorry to break the chain of nice reviews, but I did not like the way they threaded my eyebrows. I came here for the 1st time because it was close to my job, and it was reasonably priced. I specifically told the lady "I want arch eyebrows", which by looking at me you can tell that my eyebrows naturally grow that way but that it needs a touch-up/ clean up. OMG for what was that, I looked in the mirror and for the first time I saw my eyebrows round! How can you ruin already arch eyebrows!? I felt it was done on purpose. I wish I known her name, cause whoever she is didn't get a tip from me. ($20 tint, $8 brows, $5 lip) The salon itself could use a serious tidy up but clients seem pleased with brow results (as observed while waiting for tint to take effect). This is my regular threading place because it's close to where I work. It's in the Rockefeller Concourse underground. They are cheap and the chain has a frequent customer card, so I'm due for a free eyebrow thread soon. The ladies are pretty apathetic. I think I've had a few sessions where they got away with saying nothing to me at all -- just tapping me when they wanted me to hold. Skill and pain level varies on who you get, but no one has ever made me bleed like I've heard of with some places. (I wouldn't recommend this for first-timers. My first time was at kinder, gentler Shobha in SoHo, but it also cost more than twice as much...) read more

I bought the groupon deal for 3 full-leg or brazilian waxes for $48. Something was telling me to get the cheapest deal for $19 but I wanted to be smart so I bought for $48. First of all - this place is underground; in the concourse of the BD & F train lines under radio city music hall. I spent a half an hour completely befuddled looking for this place. In the waxing/facial room there is a door leading back on to the concourse, you can hear the trains rumbling by and various commuters walking by right outside. I'm not picky, but thought I'd point it out. my problem was the attendants attitude towards me as well as towards the task at hand. There was a...careless quality about it as well as an undercurrent of disdain I felt coming from her. THe wax was from those rolley things, which wasn't hot so it kept sticking and hardly any wax came out...She used the same 1 strip for taking off the wax for 90% of the job, until it was just disgusting and barely could pick up anything. I actually felt sorry for it... She missed places, whole strips of hair and streaks of wax I had to point out. She didn't like this. She did the whole job with one hand, holding a tissue in the other. At one point I swear she was trying to hurt me purposely, she was ripping my hair with such force. It didn't faze me, I've waxed my legs etc. for like 15 years so bring it on... Anyway, finally when done she hardly says anything to me, just cleans up and walks out briskly. I come out to hand over my groupon, and the receptionist starts eyeing me like I stole something and demands $1.55 for "tax"?? I have two vouchers left..there is NO WAY I'm returning for a brazilian..considering all of the above my disappointment looms. read more

The wax came out great. The person was very thorough and took her time to make sure that she did a good job which I really appreciated. They used a chocolate wax and everyone receives their own disposable small waxing tub which I feel is very sanitary. Will definitely go back again. Abhi is the woman responsible for making my first time relatively stress free. She used a numbing spray to numb "you know what" and we had a pleasant conversation as she went to work. Now the Brazilian is not for the bashful. Yes you have to take off your underwear and your legs will be reaching for the sky during a couple of strategic waxing but the cute little triangle, landing strip or baby bottom skin will adorn your intimate part. *************************************************************************** Most woman complain about having bushy eyebrows but in my case, I need a magnifying glass to see any wisps of hair sprouting on my brows. Threading has been a godsend because removing a couple of strands can give the illusion of brow hair. This is my third visit to Perfect Shape and there is never a wait, the women are true professionals: quick and accurate. The location is conveniently located by Radio City and for $14, I had my eyebrows threaded and lip waxed. I was working some serious "Rooney Brow" this morning and in need of a little respectability. Having seen Perfect Shape in the underground concourse around Rockefeller Center, I decided to give it a whirl. I stepped in 15 minutes before work and left with time to spare and both my dignity and personal sense of manliness intact. It was a quick and relatively painless process (as far as having your eyebrows ripped off goes). The young lady who helped me was very pleasant and I was very happy with the result. She always has a line of customers waiting for her because she's gentle, and knows how to grasp a good shape for your face. I've been here for bikini waxes for the last 4 years. Abby does a good job. Ask for her. Or Iffut, she's very gentle too. Today they assigned me Jenny, who was not the person I asked for. Jenny was rough applying the wax and pulling the strips off. She ended up removing layers of skin and I am bleeding, my skin is hurting so much in a very delicate area that I cannot walk properly. She insisted that it was my skin that was sensitive and I should buy this cream for sensitive skin, since it's only $1.50. When I told her I was in pain while we were in the waxing room, she got annoyed and raised her voice at me to check myself before I leave. I'm not sure what the point was, since the job was already done. When I was at the check out, I explained that I was in pain again. She insisted that I should get the cream for sensitive skin. For a place that I have been returning to for the last 4 years, I am very disappointed that 1) they did not respect my preference for a specific waxer 2) have a waxer on board who not only does a bad job of taking care of customers, but insists that she has not hurt the customer since their skin is sensitive. If you get a wax from this salon, avoid Jenny. read more

My eyebrows were a hot mess this morning. I over tweezed a couple weeks ago and have been letting them grow in but they needed some maintenance. I was looking for waxing places near Grand Central and this place came up on Yelp. I decided to give threading a try after some girlfriends were raving about it. I was excited to have Abhi because I read about her in some other reviews. She was the only person working at 9:30 when they opened. It didn't hurt at all! Maybe a tiny bit but not more than waxing. I am really happy with the shape she gave me. She very nicely told me to let them keep growing in (must.put.down.tweezers) and come back in 2-3 weeks and they should be full and perfectly shaped by then. I can't wait! And you can't beat $8, seriously less than 10 minutes, and the frequent customer card. Plus she TRIMMED them (always the sign of a good place) and put aloe on after. Thanks Abhi! You beautiful women in NYC do not need any tips, but let me fill you in on another best kept secret; threading is hands down the best way to get a great shape on unruly (or practically nonexistent) brows!!!I have exceptionally fine eyebrow hair and have always had trouble finding someone who wasn't trying to create triangles with eyebrows on my face. Enter Xena! Xena has been doing my eyebrows since 2013! She takes her time to study your shape and takes just enough hair instead of applying the weed wacker approach most other threaders do. She is only at this location Wednesday through Saturday, and worth the wait! She also does waxing, and has apparently gotten rave reviews on that as well. Lastly, if she recommends you use something for hair growth or skincare she will pick it up in her own neighborhood and bring it back for you to have the next time you come in! She's done this for me with both rose and castor oil which I could not find at a reasonable price in my 'hood. Legit the best! Go see for yourself! read more

I'm just upping the star number because, well, they're cheap and they're good. You could pay more, but why? For $8, I can actually afford to keep my brows looking good. And so, no problems. But, stick with threading. I was less impressed by the waxing. I needed an emergency pit wax (fancy event, sleeveless dress, don't judge). I'm picky when it comes to pit waxing, which is why I'm finely going the laser route because I'm too damn lazy, but I was disappointed that there was no post-waxing threading (or even plucking) to take care of the strays. Brows have always been great, though. And never more than a 5-minute wait. read more

So, the last time I came here, the person who did my brows hurt my eyelids (thread burn?) while threading my brows, something which has never happened to me before, and she did not give them a nice shape. She also left lots of stray hairs. I vowed never to come here again (even though I work in the building), but I, yet again, found myself in desperate need of threading this week and with no time to go to my regular lady, so I decided to give someone else here a shot. I've been to so many threading salons in Manhattan that have been so-so but felt I had to give props to the lady who skillfully arched my brows here. The experience itself wasn't great; it was basically a lot of her saying "no, press THERE" while directing me to press on my eyelids in the correct fashion so as to enable her skillful maneuvers. But the outcome was great. She managed to pluck even the tiniest hairs without complaining that I shouldn't tweeze in between appt. I'll def come back again. read more

I have been going to the same threader- a very talented lady in Queens, NY- for over 15 years. 7 years ago I moved to NJ, and have been unable to find someone good to do my eyebrows. I tried the Jerseylicious-type salons all over NJ. Yikes! It was a horror. So I continued my monthly pilgrimage to Queens to see Ella at Micciche in Forest Hills. But it started to be too much. Then the salon raised the prices for the service (it is now over $20 for service and tip), and I decided I needed to continue my search. I often work in Manhattan, so I quickly abandoned all hope of finding someone in NJ, and started looking in NY. I went to Unique in Chelsea, and was happy enough with that. Then one day I was in desperate need of a cleanup, and was working in Rockefeller Plaza. I bravely decided to try Perfect Shape. I walk by it all the time, but have never had the courage to try it. See, NOONE listens to me! I am so specific. I tell them I DO NOT LIKE THIN BROWS. Thin brows are so 90's. But everyone tries to give me super thin brows. And usually they make them lopsided, not even...it is unacceptable. Ella always gave me perfect brows, and LISTENED to me. WHY??? Well I was happy enough with my service at Perfect Shape. I LOVE the price. And she LISTENED to me. I asked her not to give me thin brows, and she listened. SHE LISTENED! Is that too much to ask for? Now, my brows were not evenly shaped when she was done. I pointed it out, and she fixed it, a little. She also left a few stubs of hairs under my brow. I get red and puffy from threading and waxing...and instead of the effective stuff Ella uses (witch hazel? alcohol? I don't know!), I got a dab of lotion at the end. She did not pluck much, and did not trim them with a scissor- so definitely not as good a job as I would get with Ella. Ella used to spend a half hour on my brows..my service at Perfect Shape was under 5 minutes. But then again, Ella charges over $20, and they charge $8 ($10 with tip). You get what you pay for. So is it the best eyebrow threading I have ever gotten? Uh, no, not even close. Is it worth the price? Yes. Is it good enough? I think so. I would return. read more

Yes it is cheap and fast and convenient to the subway, but maybe its because the lighting in there is poor, just overhead fluorescents, but the girl didn't do a thorough job, I had a good 5 minutes of cleaning it up with tweezers when I got home. Still better than waxing though. read more

Threading is a bit more painful than other places, waxing is fine. Depends on who you get. First time I came here was fine, second time was terrible. The second time, the woman was very visibly annoyed that I asked her to fix all of the places that she missed. When it comes to a beauty service, you want it to be thorough.
